How did you arrive at 2,300 to 3,000 birds as being suitable for a 70ft by 30ft penhouse? Standard spacing for mature birds is max of 3 birds/sq meter. Using this guide, a 70ft x 30ft pen-house can accomodate approx 700 birds. |

Am using deep litter for now. Upon improved production, I plan to take sales proceeds to buy battery cages. Farm size I'd approx 5 plots - just in line with the standard of 3 birds/sq m. Pen-house is divided into 4 rooms of 50m x 20m each, each housing 1,000 birds. The birds are 22 weeks old and are currently on growers mash. I fed them heavily from 0- 3mths but have reduced it to 0.05kg/bird/day instead of 0.11/bird/day. |

A have a layer population of 4,000 birds. They started laying eggs about 2 weeks ago at an average of 12 eggs per day. Is it normal? |
