PoliticsPoliticsdebates Over Atiku’s Presidential Ambition Thicken As PDP Zones Party Ch by kellypee(op): 8:12am On Oct 13, 2021
The aspiration of the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar to run for the 2023 presidential election may have crashed with the zoning arrangement of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on National Chairmanship.

PDP had agreed to zone its National Chairmanship to the Northern part of the country.

The National Working Committee (NEC) of the PDP last week Thursday approved the zoning of the party’s next National Chairman to the North.

PDP’s NEC considered and adopted the Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi-led Zoning Committee’s report, ahead of the party’s national convention, scheduled for October 30.

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr Kola Ologbondiyan, disclosed this while addressing newsmen on the outcome of the NEC held in Abuja.

Insinuations in certain quarters are of the opinion that with the zoning of its National Chairmanship to the North, PDP’s 2023 presidential candidate should emerge from the Southern part of the country.

Commenting on the issue, a political activist, said the arrangement should be a booster to the South’s push for presidency.

The activist who wished to be anonymous, however, noted that things may change with the current clamour by the North to hold on to power in 2023.

He told DAILY POST: “It’s only logical and fair that PDP’s presidential candidate should come from the South, since they zoned the National Chairmanship to the North.

“At a time like this when Nigeria’s unity is threatened with some zones alleging marginalization, a Southern presidential candidate of PDP would go a long way in quelling some of these agitations.

“This not withstanding, the party may still give its ticket to the North; anything can happen in politics.

“The Southern part of Nigeria may eventually produce PDP’s presidential ticket with the North producing the party’s National Chairmanship.”

However, Anthony Ehilebo, PDP’s Director of New Media, noted that PDP’s zoning of its National Chairmanship to the North does not imply that a Southerner would emerge as the party’s presidential candidate.

Speaking with DAILY POST, Ehilebo, however, affirmed that Atiku is a viable candidate.

He pointed out that anything can still happen with regards to who emerges as PDP’s presidential candidate.

“Atiku, who was the PDP’s flag bearer in the 2015 presidential election and had lost to President Muhammadu Buhari, is widely believed to be nursing the ambition of running for the highest political office in the country in 2023.

“Prior to the party’s latest NEC meeting, Atiku’s campaign posters were sighted in some states, though he is yet to officially declare his intention to run for the presidency in 2023.

“No, you know politics is a dynamic game and it’s all dependent on the factors that come to bear at that particular time, like the mood of the nation and the sentiments of the leaders.

“So, we can’t say the zoning to the North can change the political equation. There was a time when we had President Yar’Adua and Amodu Ali as National Chairman. Amodu Ali was from the North central while the president was from the Northwest, and it was not a big deal.

“I think it’s just a conjecture about the president and Chairmanship. Nothing stops the chairman from resigning if he has the interest of the party at heart.

“You see, all these things are still conjectures, we are not certain about the eventual outcome yet. You can’t ignore the Southern leaders, they have the majority in the party and they seem to have a game plan and they keep their cards close to their chest.

“The politics in PDP is too dynamic. As we speak, I don’t know who would become the party’s next chairman. Politics is so dynamic that within 10 minutes, a decision of a life time can be taken.

“Don’t get me wrong, Atiku is a viable candidate but he may just be a victim of circumstance that is beyond his control and the control of everybody.”

PoliticsPoliticsanambra Guber: Primate Ayodele Reveals Election Outcome In Fresh Prophec by kellypee(op): 12:41pm On Oct 12, 2021
The Leader Of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has released a fresh prophecy on the outcome of the Anambra gubernatorial election coming up in November 2021.

In a statement signed by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, and forwarded to DAILY POST on Tuesday, Primate Ayodele knocked the government and party candidates for being concerned about their votes without considering the safety of the voters.

Ayodele advised that the government should make plans for adequate security because there will be cases of kidnapping, hijacking, killing and all sorts of misconduct on the day of the election.

He noted that the election will also witness delay, threat, apathy in some places and that the officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) must be secured.

Apart from these, he made it known that the people of Anambra and all candidates should embark on three-day fasting and prayer from 29th -31st of October 2021 to avert troubles.

He said, ‘’The government should make security available during the Anambra governorship election, they have not looked at the aspect of security. There will be kidnapping, hijacking, killings and all sorts of misconduct in the election. The aspirants too are not looking at the safety of their people’s lives, they are only conscious of their vote, if they begin to kill them, how will they vote?’’

‘’The government must provide adequate security before the election can work, there are some areas where there won’t be an election, there will be a lot of threat, apathy will be witnessed in some places. INEC Officials must be secured so nothing will happen to them. There will be a delay of materials and the election will not go at the same time. The election will determine what will happen in Nigeria in 2023.

’’The people of Anambra and all candidates should embark on three-day fasting and prayer from 29th to 31st of October regarding the election because I foresee serious trouble in the state.

‘’APC cannot win except through rigging, it’s just the rigging that can give them victory. The people don’t want APC but they want to do everything to get it through rigging and fraudulent moves. The party is working on a backyard victory.

‘’All other parties should look into it properly because what happened in Imo state will happen in Anambra if care isn’t taken. If APC is allowed to get the victory, no court will remove them, they have arranged machinery to perfect these plans.

‘’If APC takes it by force, the governor will not enjoy it, there won’t be peace, the state will not get their bearings right.

‘’People are tired of APGA, they don’t want APGA but the party wants to enforce power through rigging, they are not getting it right. Governor Willie Obiano isn’t doing his homework properly and it will affect their victory. Nobody is ready for APGA and APC in Anambra but both of them are bent on taking it by force. Except Governor Willie Obiano begs the people of Anambra and prays to God, the people will not vote for APGA.

‘’PDP has what it takes, they have the resources but except their candidate, Valentine Ozigbo does the necessary things, he won’t win. A coalition will help PDP more to get their chances. If they do what is right, they will get it. Unless PDP wakes up, gets a coalition and puts their house in proper order, they will not be victorious, they should manage things properly. Three days to the election, things will start changing, PDP should prepare well

‘’A Coalition will send APC off the race but other parties don’t see beyond their nose and by this, they will create chances for APC to win in an ungodly way. The people don’t want APC and APGA. If PDP can utilize the opportunity, they can win.

‘’YPP candidate, Ifeanyi Ubah is not ready to take victory, victory is surrounding him but he isn’t ready for it. They will ease him out technically, he is getting some things wrong except he does the needful. He has what it takes but he isn’t managing it, he is playing around the victory and people are not seeing him as well prepared for the election victory. The victory is close to him but he doesn’t know how to claim it.’’
