Incase, you aren't aware. I can confidently state for that of phcn Ekedc that, they have suspended the distribution of electricity bills. Now, it's via text messages. In my own apartment, the messages were sent to the landlord, thereafter the landlord will send it to each tenant in the building. The messages are sent for each flat or apartment. That means, if there is 6 flats in the building, 6 different bills will be sent. I will miss using my electricity bill as my utility bill for any banking or registration purposes that requires such though.

It's a very welcomed idea though as it will reduce the cost of printing papers and mobilization of staffs who goes to share the bills.

So, here's my recent experience on the new development. My landlord sent me the text message of my own bill and I realized there's a huge increment in the arrears and amount due. My instinct told me that my landlord may have altered the text message sent for reasons best known to him or he sent someone else bill because when i saw it, i was more than convinced that this can't be my bill.

The next day, I went to Phcn office to complain, the lady i met thought its one of those cases where it's the customer that would be sorry. She checked the computer. Viola! It wasn't my bill. She said that wasn't my bill and ask me to give her my number to send me my bill. She sent it and it's a correct one.

Now, I don't know if my landlord was the one who altered the bill as it's just a copy and paste message he sent to me via text message or it's phcn who sent a wrong bill. I will find out in this month bill as the bill will be sent to me as well and sent to him.

Incase this happens to you, just go to phcn office to check and you can give them your phone number. They will enter it in their system and you can always get the bill monthly yourself.

I just hope this new development does not bring issues between tenants and landlords that are not in good terms.
