wirinet:
As i said above, the 13% has nothing to do with the destruction of the environment. It is because of bad drilling practices by the oil companies and complicity by government regulatory agencies that allow the oil companies to pollute the environment with reckless abandon. It is like gas flaring, the oil companies are still flaring poisonous gasses into the atmosphere despite a ban on it, now do you expected us to use the 13% to clean up the atmosphere?
that what they don't know, the 13% does alot for the States, the Oil companies and NDDC should do the cleanups, the 13% might rise if other regions start exploring their resources

If a ss person after looking at the environmental degradation of their communities and abject poverty stearing them in the face can still come and say their okay with 13% derivation then I'll say something is terribly wrong somewhere. But then I can't and won't bother myself with that issue. Have it your way
The SS are not okay with 13% and NDDC, but its better than what the whole country has. Change is a Marathon not a sprint..

D north has held the oil for over 50 years now, in another 50 - 80 years, Niger delta oil will dry up or at least won't be in commercial quantity again.

Then the.north will leave u
please stop saying the Oil will dry up..

the Niger Delta has unexplored vast amount of Natural Gas reserves, don't forget the OIl palm reserves

Let me ask you a question mr. Do you honestly think derivation,NDDC is same as resource control? please answer honestly
the Money used to fund NDDC comes from Oil expenses paid to NNPC..

They are already holding it n it a working.

The 13% derivation u people get from ur oil is not even enough to clean the environment from degradation coming from crude oil waste products.
what about NDDC and Ministry of Niger Delta??

the South east needs to know how to play Game of Politics with the North and South West, fighting for everything at once would make you look suspicious, but getting things things at a time would work..

Patience

You say you're after resource control-I support! but surprisingly some ss here are happy saying 'we get 13% derivation'. There are reasons people point to you lots as confused. It's okay though.
why don't you try and read with comprehension..

what the Ss are saying is that, they got 13% derivation and they later agitated for a Commission and a Ministry which was granted to them.

now add the budget from derivation and NDDC is it not more than 13%..??

I have time to spare this morning, so I will add my own Ideology, this may be just 2 of us but I don’t care.

Ideology Number (7):
An Actual Economic “Cloning” Committee:

In Nigeria of Today, after more than 50 years of independence, we still can’t come together to bring about an Economic diversified front for Nigeria and her future Generation.
You already mentioned Singapore, which I think every African Country can emulate, we need to “clone” other economic ideas that have worked when starting from Nothing and Implement it here in Nigeria.

Singapore started all by using the Entrepot model, get raw materials from other areas, refine it In Singapore thereby getting jobs for the citizens, and later exporting it at a Higher price leading to a trade surplus for the Singaporean people.

This economic moves led to other great achievements, whereby a Banking sector grew, all that import and exporting needs the backing of a strong banking sector therefore 2 Sectors are growing now ( Industry and banking).
With the entrepot model reaching world class mediums, the Port sector had to be at its very best to maintain all the trade going on, this led to Singapore Ports being on of the most busiest and most efficient in the world.. now we have 3 major sectors in our hands ( Industry, banking and Maritime)

This is not a miracle, its common sense, import models that worked and can work from scratch with Nigeria have man power potential more than Singapore.

vladimiros:
Here is a Mini task for you, the time you spend going to Church during midweek, use it to learn a computer coding language like HTML then to CSS, after One Month lets compare the difference in skillset to someone who spent his Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings spending 2 hours in church, paying an average of 200 Naira per offering.
Your Bolded, hit home My brother, I know about 3 unemployed youths who spend more time in Church looking for employment than, in a skill centre learning more skills and developing themselves. Our Spiritual leaders have found a loophole to our problems but instead of finding means to help us, they turn it into a money making scheme ( you can quote me)

Our youths need to know the importance of taking what they want by their own will instead of waiting for “divine” miracle to lead them, as if the pastor who needs their money would use it for “devine purposes”. Why spend Millions on a new Church Building when you can use it for a skill acquisition centre for you unemployed Church members?

I am waiting for an extra analysis on your second Manifesto point, it seems only 2 of us are here, but hopefully we would grow into more users.

Another thing is we might need an official site, like a wordpress or . But starting here on Nairaland is good enough I guess.

OP You are a true son of your father,

I have been waiting for something similar, and also coming from a leftist, I feel we can get something for ourselves here.

You said you are from Akwa Ibom? I am from Cross River, our ex governors used style to milk us, spending money on “tourist” projects while not using its full budget and pocketing the rest.

It’s a real struggle, its kinda late right now, but in the morning I will write down my own ideas for this.

I am with you.
