Eduardo Da Silva Questions Arsenal's Title CredentialsArsenal striker Eduardo da Silva admits that it will be an extremely tough proposition for the club to challenge for the Premier League title this season.
The Gunners finished 18 points adrift of champions Manchester United in fourth spot last term and the club are yet to make any real headway in the transfer market this summer following the sole arrival of Thomas Vermaelen from Ajax.
With Kolo Toure on the verge of joining former team-mate Emmanuel Adebayor at Manchester City, many have predicted the Eastlands outfit to challenge the Gunners and their rivals for the title this campaign.
While the majority of Arsenal fans will be hoping their side to mount an assault on the Premier League this season, Croatian international Eduardo has moved to dampen expectations.
"It will be very hard, really very, very hard [to win the Premier League]," the 26-year-old told Sportske Novosti.
"Now Kolo Toure is also leaving, so I don't know.
"But of course Arsenal is a club which is always looking for the top spots. I think our main goal will be to be in the top four next season."
With regards to Mark Hughes' Manchester City and their credentials, Eduardo believes balance could be the problem in their quest for Premier League glory.
"They are stronger, no doubt, but we have to wait and see how things are going to work," the former Dinamo Zagreb attacker added.
"For example, Adebayor and Santa Cruz can't play together. Tevez can play behind strikers and he even helps defending, but those two just can't play together.
"I would say the same as for us - it will be hard for them to win the Premier League." |

It's like me saying Guerrilla Black sounds like Shyne Po . . . and you stating that he sounds like Biggie instead . . . we all know both cats (Guerrilla and Shyne) sound like Biggie.
Most def'ly, Sean Paul himself sounds like Supercat . . . but on the real tip, I'll say Pype sounds more like Sean Paul. yeah rite |

BREAKING NEWS: Kolo Toure Passes Manchester City Medical - ReportKolo Toure's potential move from Arsenal to Manchester City edged a considerable amount closer this afternoon, as the Ivorian passed his medical at the Eastlands club, according to Sky Sports News.
It had earlier been reported that a potential problem over the player's severance payment from Arsenal might scupper the deal, with Toure, who has been at Arsenal for eight years, due a loyalty bonus as he would be eligible for a testimonial at the end of his current contract, which expires in two years time.
Once the details of the severance payment have been ironed out, the move should progress quickly, with the player now discussing personal terms with the club.
Many observers had wondered when City boss Mark Hughes would make moves to strengthen his back line after signing so many strikers, and it looks now as though that process has begin in earnest. |

jalether: I am predicting a fifth place finish for arsenal this season, to be honest you guys lack the depth
to finish fourth place or challenge for a title. reason being your squad has become weaker, only
a delusional arsenal fan will even dare compare man utd, chelsea, liverpool and man city's squad with theirs. Tru talk is bitter! |

dayokanu: Simple question What can Arsenal realistically fight for with the players they have right now and the ones still going to leave.
The only time Arsenal would top the league is before it starts when the clubs are arranged alphabetically |

Spanish Inquisition: Barcelona & Real Madrid - Who Has The Better First XI Now?
With so much money having been spent in Spanish football already this summer - well, at the top of the table, at least - the teams are starting to take shape ahead of the new season.
One can't state with certainty that the summer transfer window has completely come to an end, though. After all, Real Madrid are still linked with Xabi Alonso and Alvaro Arbeloa, although Barcelona have sealed the signing of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
But with that latter signing due to take place tomorrow, we now have a fair idea of how Spain's two biggest clubs will line up as the Blaugrana prepare to defend their title in the face of a Blanco challenge.
With that in mind, we take a look at the probable lineups for the two sides ahead of the new season and ask: which is stronger?
Last season Barca's first eleven proved itself to be the indisputable leader both in Spain and the continent, while Madrid struggled in their wake and also in Europe.
But with significant changes at the Santiago Bernabeu, could it be different this time around?
Take a look: https://i.media.goal.com/g/52595.jpg
Of course these two will not be the starting eleven each and every week. Real Madrid in particular have an embarassment of riches: Wesley Sneijder in midfield is still very much present, as is Raul up front, not to mention Ruud van Nistelrooy. Barcelona, meanwhile, have Seydou Keita, and also young Bojan, who is once again on fire this pre-season.
What do you think, though? If it's the best eleven against the best eleven, which is stronger - and who will prevail? http://www.goal.com/en/news/1717/editorial/2009/07/27/1404969/spanish-inquisition-barcelona-real-madrid-who-has-the-better |

Report: Barcelona Star Samuel Eto’o Agrees Inter Terms The Zlatan Ibrahimovic – Samuel Eto’o transfer saga is nearing the finishing line after the Barcelona hitman agreed a five-year deal with Inter last night, according to Sky Sport.
President Massimo Moratti met with the player’s agent, Josep Maria Mesalles, at the club’s new headquarters in Corso Vittorio Emanuele, and it is suggested that Eto’o himself helped break the deadlock.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Eto’o talked with Inter technical director Marco Branca on the phone in the afternoon, saying he was enthusiastic about joining the Biscione. Indeed, Eto'o also reportedly stated that he is ready to bring the Champions League trophy back to the San Siro.
As a matter of fact, the striker has supposedly agreed to tie his bonuses to Inter’s achievements, rather than personal ones.
Eto’o has apparently demanded a €2 million bonus for any trophy won by Inter over the next five years. This will come on top of his wages of €10m-per-season.
Inter have failed to win Europe’s premier club competition since 1965, but Eto’o has already lifted ‘the big-eared cup’ twice at Barca. |
