Politics › Re: Minister Lokpobiri: Kaduna Refinery Can Not Refine Nigeria Crude Oil by khattab02: 3:53pm On May 30, 2024 |
grandstar: I checked online and came across this:
"As Head of State, General Olusegun Obasanjo appointed Buhari as the Federal Commissioner (now known as Minister) for Petroleum and Natural Resources between March 1976 and June 1978. When the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) was created in 1977, Buhari was also appointed as its Chairman; he held this position until 1978."
https://saharareporters.com/2019/01/17/breaking-buhari-forgets-year-he-was-petroleum-minister#google_vignette
Don't forget it takes time for a refinery to be built. He might have been out of office by the time it was finished yeah, no doubt it takes time for the refinery to built and finish. It was actually General Yakubu Gowon, because in 1971 NNOC was formed to represent the country as the National oil company. It was in 1977 that it was merged with federal ministry of power and mines to form NNPC. I think the actual building or awarding of the refinery was from the time of Gowon or Murtala. The Kaduna refinery was built by Chiyoda company and commissioned in 1980

This thread or the comments made by minister of petroleum for states is misleading.
The Kaduna refinery had 2 distillation units,
One for foreign crude and the other for Nigerians crude.
The foreign crude section has long stopped working for God knows.
The Nigeria section was working until it completely stopped under Buhari (from 2015 till now).
It a fallacy to claim it only foreign crude the Kaduna refinery refine.
Shame on the minister that he doesn't know know this about his refineries.
Warri is also built for both foreign and Nigerian crude |

grandstar: The stupid idea to set up a refinery in the North was Buhari's idea when he was the oil minister.
Do you know how much it cost to build a pipelines per kilometre? It will cost $1-2m per km and this refinery is in Kaduna which should be over 1,000km away. Really?? Did you know when the refinery was built and the head of state who approved it? I can categorically tell you it not Buhari without Google search. |

NASTYNASOSO: HMMMMMMMM
FOLKS CANT EVEN DIG DEEP BEFORE RUNNING THEIR MOUTHS
THERE IS AN ADDED ADVANTAGE OF HAVING A REFINERY THAT WILL REFINE HEAVIER HYDROCARBONS BECAUSE OF THE BY PRODUCTS DERIVED . WHEN YOU NEED PRODUCTS THAT CONTAIN HEAVY CHAIN HYDROCARBONS YOU WILL HAVE TO GO TO KADUNA REFINERY. THAT'S THE PURPOSE OF HAVING KADUNA REFINERY Am not surprised. They don't know hence lack of knowledge and such comment. |

immortalcrown: So the Kaduna refinery was calibrated to serve Venezuela?
No be today this scam start. End Nigeria!
Locating the refinery in Kaduna is already a red flag. No oil in Kaduna, no seaport in Kaduna. Gowon should explain why his regime did it. Let us even accept the calibration for Venezuela's crude oil. Is the refinery functioning? The answer is no. But billions of Naira is spent on the refinery yearly and some people are being paid as workers in the refinery. The setting up of refinery in Kaduna was not because Kaduna had oil or seaport. It was set up for strategic purpose. The purpose was to refine and serve the entire northern region so as to avoid the long distance of going to Lagos Ph and warri which is pathetically the current situation now. |
