VeeInsider: Good evening, everyone. I'll be applying for my visa at end of November, and my Uni here in Nigeria (Unizik- Nnamdi Azikiwe University) is yet to give me my degree certificate.
Will my statement of result be accepted for Visa application? Yes, you can use your statement of result to apply for visa, since that is the document you used to get your admission.. I also used my notification of result to apply and I got my visa |

Khemistbb: Thank you! To show evidence of his personal financial circumstances, I’m wondering how many months of his personal bank statements you included in addition to his sister’s. Six months |
Travel › Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by Khenney002: 3:58pm On Nov 19, 2023 |
Khemistbb: Congratulations to your twin brother.
1. Please did you input £1 or you just changed to a reasonable amount that is supported by the amount of money in his bank statement? 2. Apart from the amount he planned to spend personally, did you make any other amendments to the new application (especially the annual allowance)? 3. Also, did you include a cover letter to address the issues raised during the previous denial. yes I inputted £1 as advised and a cover letter to address the issue. No amendment was made as we already stated that his sister will be the sponsor. |

@cashmadam @D10 @shootingstar92 @giselle237 Thank you all for your useful insights on my twin brother application that was denied then due to the mistake we made, we re-applied and he got his passport today.. I really appreciate everyone |

giselle237: Write £1 or 1 naira for the PERSONALLY part since the student is not contributing shi shi. I’ve mentioned this on different occasions on this thread. Thank you boss, but please do you how long it take for them to send collection mail after the refusal? |
Travel › Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by Khenney002: 9:58pm On Oct 14, 2023 |
Cashmadam: Sorry about the refusal.
My thoughts:
1. If you get some money as allowance, it is expected that you will have some savings - no matter how little (unless you are a minor). In that case, you should try and save some money every month before you reapply.
2. Based on number 1 above, in the section where you are asked how much you will personally spend, you can then input a reasonable amount that is supported by the amount of money in your savings. Nothing outrageous please.
3. Your sister can sponsor you with 3,000. Just ensure her documents support this
4. Provide documents from your school - ID card, results etc. Credible and verifiable documents to prove that you are indeed a student and you have a reason to come back to Nigeria to complete your education. If there is any reason for case worker to believe you can abandon your schooling in Nigeria to start afresh in the UK, your application will be refused.
I suggest you take your time to put your documents together, save some money and fill your form carefully before your reapply.
Good luck! Thank you so much |

ShootingStar92: If your sister is sponsoring your trip 100% then you need to add the £3000 to ‘How much are they paying towards your trip’ question. Then under where it asks ‘how much money are you planning to spend’ add £1. Thank you very much I will reapply once I get the passport back. I haven’t gotten a collection mail |
Travel › Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by Khenney002: 12:12pm On Oct 14, 2023 |
ShootingStar92: As a student, your stated yearly allowance of 600k is way less than the £3K of YOUR OWN MONEY you said you will spend personally on your trip in addition to the £3K from your sister (sponsor). The above is an error on your path as you may have quoted that figure without understanding the question asked.
The refusal letter also mentioned that you have not demonstrated a strong family, economic or social ties to your home country: as a student you could add your 1. Academic transcripts, evidence of your involvement in SUG activities, any leadership positions you currently hold in your department or student union or even church or your community. Also, a cover letter stating why you need to make this trip at this time instead of focusing on your academics. Thank you I will work on that too.. please I need more clarification on the amount issue. |

D1O: I thought as much and it would appear that's where your problem lies. You could tell from the refusal letter that the ECO knew you had made a mistake - but their hands were tied.
By entering that same amount twice, you have implied it's a £6k total budget, 50% of which would be paid by the applicant; an applicant whose documented finances don't support an ability to PERSONALLY spend that much on a holiday. The £3k belonged only in the sponsor's section Thanks for your response boss, please are you saying I should put the £3k in the “How much much money will they be paying towards your visit” And how much should I put in the “How much money are you personally planning to spend on your visit” ? |
Travel › Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by Khenney002: 11:12am On Oct 14, 2023 |
D1O: On face value, it seems you have also entered £3k in the section on how much you are planning to spend personally on the trip (perhaps also repeated this same amount in the section on how much your sponsor is giving you). Is that correct?
By the way, I might be wrong, but did you not post a visa alert here just a couple of days ago? Yes, I inputted £3k in d section on how much I am planning to spend personally and same £3k on how much my sponsor will give me. Is that where the problem lies?

giselle237: 1.Your circumstances have not really changed. 2.You also can not afford to sponsor the trip yourself. 3. Tuition receipt and letter from university does not prove you are an active student 4. Why have you also not visited other countries if in dire need of a holiday and your parents sponsored you there?
These are the 4 questions along with the 2 previous refusals + minimal change to your circumstances that may work against you. Please Giselle, what document can be used to prove that I am an active student? |
