So if you want to keep eating the same palm oil found in Naija why don't you just remain in Naija?
This was a mean and unecessary response. Don't be a bully

Please i have a tax related question.

If a migrant leaves the country, say for 2 years.
Would said migrant need to pay tax for the 2 years that they are out of the country?
You only pay tax on income earned in Australia.

Only the US taxs its citizens everywhere they go.

You’ve heard about work holiday visa ?
That is not a visitors visa. It is a special visa for specific countries to come and work on their rural farms and such. Different visa

Yeah it’s possible if you have a good passport other than Nigerian passport.
NO. Your passport does not matter. Visitors visa to Australia is not for working.

Guy! Australia will let you in by mid next year.
Start your education online this September and continue when you land.

Ikjosh04:
Hi Lekiboboe, Justmellow, Frankrobbn1 and other Elder's in the thread.
Please I need your counsel, I finished uni 2019 and nysc early this year. Australia was my top study destination and I applied and successfully got my study visa grant for MSc Engineering Management.

Now the issue is, it's 1 year plus and Australia has refused to open her boarders for international students and it's disheartening and more frustrating due to the uncertainties about opening the boarders.

I've had to defer twice because a new session is starting this July and there is no hope on opening of the boarders especially now Sydney and other States in Australia is battling with the Delta variant of covid 19.

I can't take this anymore, if I am to look at the data's surrounding opening of Australia boarders, there's no hope in sight for the boarders to be open for the first 2022 session which is Feb 2022 because Australia election is coming up next year and it's very possible for Scott Morrison to leave the boarder closed until Australia is done with the election and so I feel the boarder might not be open until July 2022 and that's crazy!

My plan now is to apply for MSc Engineering Management at university of Manitoba for January 2022 intake but the issue is my family don't have money (Nigeria economy is dwindling each passing day and moreover my folks will not want to entertain anything from me about now applying to Canada because I was told to apply to Canada but I choosed Australia and 2 of my younger ones will be done with school this year and will also be looking towards graduate study abroad).

The little funds for my education is already tied down in Australia with my Australia university and so I plan to apply for a study loan ($25k) from Mpower study finance or Prodigy (please I also need guidance on how I can get the loan successfully).

My plan is to secure Canada study visa for January resumption and then I ask for a tution fee refund from my Australia university to add to the $25k loan to finance my 2yrs MSc in Canada.

I'm also fully covid 19 vaccinated and will having a Australia valid study visa help or go against my Canada study visa application?

Please what do you have to say about this plan?

Is taking a loan to the tune of $25k a good decision and is engineering management a good career path in Canada for a fresh graduate like me without any industrial experience beside the 6 month IT I did in Nigeria. I intend to start out in my career as a project coordinator/business analysts then grow up the ladder to be an Engineer Manager.

I also like MSc supply chain management at university of Manitoba but with a chemical engineering degree, will I have issues convincing the visa officer to grant a visa to study supply chain management.

You have some valid points, but don't forget that even though the salary is almost double in Australia, the cost of living is more than double..... ... The point is, money alone is not enough motivation to move in his situation... If he moves purely because of money, chances are he'll be disappointed.

If he moves because of comparative economic stability, security, peace of mind and better future for the kids, then that's fine...
You have missed my point. I am referring to the joy in N10 million per annnum. Do you have an idea of the income growth rate compared to the inflation rate? If you were earning $70,000 in Australia 10 years ago, it would still buy roughly the same things today as it could 10 years ago. Try and compare that with N10 million earnings about 10 years ago and now. That is the whole point. There is no direct correlation for earnings. Money can never be your reason. We are one devaluation away from turning N10 million to N6million.

Please i need a candid advice. I am married with three kids (5,3 and 1). I stay in Lagos and my salary is about 10 million per annum with bright chances this will increase yearly in terms of salary reviews and promotions as I work with a big four. In short I can current afford to send my kids to good schools and take care of my family's basic needs. Would it be advisable to take a job offer in Australia (most likely sydney) for 80 to 85k AUD per annum pre-tax and live comfortably there with my family?
I know I am late to this thread. But really, what is N10 million per annum? If you stay in a place that is closer to your office, you are looking at spending N2 million per annum on accomodation (at least) and as the children grow, their school fees grows such that you are spending about N3 million per annum on their education also. And just so you know, the greedy hands of inflation are coming for your salary as Nigerian inflation is at an aggressive 12%per annum so unless your salary would increase at 15% every year, you are getting poorer my brother.

Think ver this thing well. N10 million per annum is very far from being a big man. It is what is called a mirage...

Pick one of either tax or pension. I suggest you pick tax. Get your log-in to the LIRS website and print your tax statement from there. If it does not match the amount, go to the tax office and let them help you determine how much you would pay.
With tax statement you wouldn't need the pension. It is either of the two you need.

slimy205:
Thank you for your response. I really appreciate.

Please what can i do about the pension? Also I submitted my student copy of the transcript when applying but it had Unilag watermark of 'not for official use' so they requested for an official transcript. I'll work on this though. My biggest headache is just the tax and the pension

How long did it take to get outcome letter and did you do fastrack. I intend to re apply next month after a rejected application. it took close to three months then before I got assessment outcome.
Yes. I did a fast track. It is the best way to do the assessment.

I would ask you what the reason for the rejected application was but I am guessing it was plagiarism. Let me know if I am wrong though.

Outcome letter comes out very fast once they accept all your documents and CDR. It won't take more than a week or so.

Congrats and well-done. Kindly assist me with info as I plan to put in my EA assessment application by next weekend. What and what I should include and how do I ensure my CDR is very tight and free from any form of plagiarism. Thanks in anticipation.
If you have done your NSE or COREN registration, you would have already done something similar to the CDR and it could serve as your basis for writing the CDR.
To ensure you do not plagiarize, do not use any samples and just focus on writing according to the EA guide. It is basically about what you have done so just add a lot of charts, graphs and what not.

If you have any questions about the Engineers Australia process or getting through your CDR very well, please ask me.

I did mine and it came out very well with full work experience given to me. I would be glad to help someone else with advise on it.

Your English score and age is bringing your score down. You need to go and do PTE and ace that very well.

Also, you can start assessing with Engineers Australia. That can take a while as you must write a tight and original CDR. It can be done. Just follow the MSA booklet and do not copy anyone.

Hello, What's up with employment opportunities for engineering graduates in Australia, Civil Engineering to be precise.
Your occupation is on their skills shortage list, hence, there have to be jobs available right there.
Go and read up on the process and if you think you're ready, step up to Engineers Australia (they are your number one obstacle)

I have sent the tax statement from the tax website portal. They also do not issue receipts to individuals that had their tax remmitted by their companies...

tunlex01:
Request for your tax statement from their website. You can also visit them to request for your receipt.

Has anyone got a receipt of tax payment from the Lagos State Internal Revenue before?

Engineers Australia is asking for it even though I have uploaded my ETCC and snapshot of my online login to the tax portal.
