Yes, infared cooker will take any pot.

There's an infrared cooker by Mama Home called FRED.
I'm using this and the performance has been greet, don't know why it's not been talked about much here.

I also stocked this and pitch to my clients after solar installation.
I have sold over 10 pieces and reviews has been greet.

You can order from Mama Home website yourself as well.
but the regular silver crest infrared cooker is sold for just 25k

yes that's exactly what he's saying.

Buy the 2000w own and always use it at 1000w
but is it true, that infrared cooker is energy efficient for prepaid meters for people on Band A than the regular hot plate.

My own would be NO Gas cookers. I fear that thing pass generator. If you must use Gen, you go get where the Gen go dey as not in main building.

Another is, for non slate / gerrad (stone coated) roofing sheets, any dent is a potential issue for leakage as any small water / moisure that stays there would rust it and start leaking.
No Gas cooking ke, how would they cook then.

Or do you mean to say Hot plate(electric cooker)

Until one builds their own House, it is always difficult to walk in the Shoes of a House Owner, but here are a few reasons:

- The Landlord may KNOW that his Roof is not strong enough for additional weight (and all these high capacity Panels are very heavy, 60Kg+ each!)
- Landlord may be afraid his Roof will start leaking, after the installation, a lot of Roofs have had such experience.
- Landlord may be afraid his Roof will be destroyed when tenant finally tires to remove his Panels, on moving out. (Some Landlords insist on a signed agreement that if you install, you cant remove it on moving out, your choice.)
- Some Landlord are afraid a tenant's Panels may catch fire (just as Landlords own do!) and burn down their House. grin

But in my own opinion, l think a tenant should come to an amicable agreement with his Landlord.
Foe example, a Landlord can buy the Panels (or the Tenant buys it) and install it on the Roof, supervised properly by the Landlord and the Cost of the Panels amortized over say 5 years (if bought by Tenant) or amortized to the Landlord (if bought by Landlord) or even rented out to the tenant, for some yearly Fee.

Removing an installed Panel from the Roof is the Redline, for most Landlord.
One it goes up, it can only come down when Re-Roofing the Building
that's where binding wire comes in now.

Although binding wire works for a straight roof not a slant roof. So to me panels doesn't burn easily like that, landlords are only skeptical about roof leakage

The copper connector you see here is a cable lug, and in this attached image, we have two types of 35mm² cable lugs( with different bolt stud sizes: M8 and M10)

See how snugly the exposed copper cable fits inside the lug? That means this cable, in this example, is a full-gauge 35mm².

You can buy different sizes of these cable lugs: 6mm², 10mm², 16mm², 35mm², 50mm², etc -to work with. If a cable seller gives you wire, peel it small and try a size check with your cable lug. grin

If it's too loose, wahala dey oh! grin

This is exactly why some installers or builders don’t answer your questions. A lazy culture.

Here’s a useful tip if you’re new to buying cables locally: bring a cable lug that matches the size of the cable you plan to buy (for example, a 6mm lug for a 6mm cable). Strip the cable and test it; if your 6mm lug can fit two cores of that '6mm' cable, it's fake/under-gauge-you should run o!
i don't understand you, which one be cable lug.

Break it down for a layman to understand pls

You are very correct sir, 100%. I wanted battery and I asked some couple of supplier, I also asked Valto, everyone sent quotes, and I asked honest question of what is your take on the types of batteries, Valto is the only one that gave honest and unbiased review on all the types of batteries and even advised if I am not buoyant enough for now I can go for the other ones with reasons etc, I bought from him just because of his honesty. so you are very correct sir.
same thing made me bought a solar cable from a guy.. he throughly explained how i could know an original copper cable and also told me there's full guage and half guage...

Honesty is the key in business

Binding wires might seem like a way to avoid roof leaks by skipping roof penetrations, but mounting rails are not just for aesthetics; they play a crucial role in regulating a solar panel's temperature by elevating it off the hot roof to allow airflow underneath.

Because high temperatures significantly reduce solar panel performance, proper rail mounting is essential.

But I guess sacrificing PV efficiency and risking panels falling off the roof is a trade-off some are willing to make to further prevent possible leaks.
yes you're right.. binding wire are cool for flat roof hence it can't easily fall off like using binding wires for a bent roof or V roof..

For me,Temperature can be normal if it's not aluminium roof or pan.. slate doesn't generate much heat like aluminium roof or pan does.

When badly installed, there will be roof leaks. There is also a fear that their house could go up in flames. Ironically, the same landlord also allows tenants to put generators anywhere they please and store petrol in their homes, without thinking that it's a fire hazard.
ná so my landlord dey fear too say solar panel dey burn house.

I ask him where he saw that he said online.. as for me na why I prefer binding wire to avoid roof leakage

Good evening house.

Mehn, I have learnt a lot from this thread over the years, especially from the installers, engineers & experienced DIYers that freely shared designs, calculations & experiences. Omo, 4yrs ago, I practically knew nothing about solar, but with the help of resources like this thread & YouTube, at all at all, me sef don dey join the engineers for my company design large commercial systems.

As a small way of continuing the tradition, and also to solve something that has been a bit of a pain point for me, I have been working on a solar sizing and system design calculator, primarily for installers, engineers & DIYers, as a pet project:

https://solar-sizing-calc[dot]vercel[dot]app (nairaland & hin wahala no dey make the link show well)

A quick overview of the app:
It has the standard appliance list for building a load schedule/profile, or you can use grid or generator consumption to estimate the load. It then has 3 system design sections.

1. Quick Estimate: A quick, conservative, back-of-the-envelope estimate for relatively small systems. Most Engs here most likely already do these types of small calculations in their heads, but it's a nice-to-have for quick, no-bells, no whistles sizing.

2. Full Sizing: [/b]This is the main design section of the app. You define how the loads operate at different periods, or pull from the appliance consumption list, then the system sizes the inverter, battery and solar array using NASA solar data for the selected location.

It also gives graphs for estimated seasonal performance & daily-profile simulations. You get parameters like Cycling DoD, Panel Derating, Charge Window, inverter efficiency & so on that you can play around with if needed. Most of them are set to reasonable defaults for a start though.

[b]3. Design Verification/Tweaks
: Here, you can enter an existing design or pull from the proposed design from Full Sizing, then tweak or reduce/increase the proposed battery, solar array & other parameters and see, in real time, the effect on backup time, battery cycling, energy balance and expected grid or generator support.

This way, you can evaluate different or cheaper options or cover for seasonal shortfalls & see the effects and trade-offs in real time. As we all know, different sites with different needs & different budgets.

The tool is still a work in progress, so it's not a finished or perfect tool. I would really appreciate it if the gurus and house members could test it and give feedback on anything that is unclear, inaccurate or just what your general thoughts are.

Abeg feel free to challenge any assumptions. Honest technical feedback will be very useful.

It's been a fun pet project, and it would be great to see if it's useful for others.

The link again is:

solar-sizing-calc[dot]vercel[dot]app
you pay us to test the app for you🤣🤣

App testing is a job/profession on it own

You are becoming overzealous, I’m beginning to wonder where you are buying your weed from because I see no reason why you are inviting to your scam thread to come and clear name, seem you are suffering from lack of attention and seriously looking for one

A scammer created a moniker FocusFulFocus and he was caught in the act ,

How is FocusFulFocus me? I don’t understand how you misread that as Futurefocus.

Amovingman its hightime you get eye glasses,
Please visits marina by Tinubu Square for one , it’s very cheap there

Damn, you made me run a free advert for the eye glass seller, you seem to be becoming a joke
I said it here already that that guy Amovingman doesn't know what he's doing.

He kept coming here and every thread to label everyone a scammer yet he created his account June 13, 2026.

The guy doesn't know what he's doing just let him be, he found scammer picture and he claims and posted a fake screenshot stating he has AIG & IG contact yet he can't talk to them to track the scammer down.. peace out jare

You probably missed where I said "except it's hand to hand;"
You do need understand market price for even a USEd 300w is around 50,000 naira. Negotiate well, you could be lucky to get the 350w at that price but not often. Let alone 30,000 naira. How much dem wan come sell 200w.

350w solar panels non China used is about 70,000 naira the last I bought it.

Except of course it's directly from an end user, should be weary of getting it at 50,000 naira in the market, let alone 30,000 naira
I bought 220w for 20k
