The University of Ilorin hereby calls for applications into her Postgraduate school in the incoming 2016/17 session.



1. Ph.D. Degree Programmes

These are available to holders of M.A; M.Ed.; M.Eng.; M.Sc.; LLM; M.Comm.H.; and M.P.H degrees, with a minimum of 60% or equivalent Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) score in their Masterdegree programmes. A Ph.D. degree programme runs for a minimum period of 36 calendar months and a maximum period of 48 calendar months for full-time candidates OR a minimum period of 48 calendar months and a maximum period of 60 calendar months for part-time candidates. Relevant Courses will be taken for the Ph.D. studies where prescribed and a Thesis is required at the end of the Ph.D. programme.

2. M.Phil /Ph.D. Degree Programmes

Candidates who score between 55.00 and 59.99 percent can apply for admission into the Master of Philosophy (M.Phil/Ph.D.) degree programme. The M.Phil/Ph.D. degree programme is available only to full-time candidates. It runs for a minimum period of 12 calendar months and a maximum period of 24 calendar months and a
Dissertation is produced after the research work. Candidates in this category are eligible for conversion to Ph.D. candidature, following a progress assessment report to be made by a Panel of Examiners at the end of the first session of registration. To be eligible for conversion for the Ph.D. program, candidates are expected to score not less than 60% (aggregate) at the end of the first session.

3. Master Degree Programmes

M.A.; M.Ed.; M.Eng.; M.sc.; M.Com.H., LL.M and M.P.H. degrees run for a minimum period of 24 calendar months and a maximum period of 36 calendar months for full-time candidates OR a minimum period of 36 calendar months and a maximum period of 48 calendar months for part-time candidates. All Master Degree Programmes are by course work. This is in addition to a research report at the end of which a Dissertation is produced

4. Postgraduate Diploma Degree Programmes

Postgraduate Diploma degrees are available to candidates with a Third class (honours) degree.
Applicants are to note that programmes automatically lapse at the expiration of the prescribed maximum duration for each programme. However, a candidate may apply for an extension of not more than 12 months, in the first instance, subject to a maximum of two such extensions.
General information
The Postgraduate session for Postgraduate programmes is 12 calendar months, commencing on 2 nd October and ending on 30 th September of the following year. The 12 calendar months start to count automatically from the date of first registration.

APPLICATION FEES

Application fee for all programmes is N25,000.00 only for applicants within Nigeria OR $200.00 only for international applicants.

DATES AND VENUES OF QUALIFYING EXAMINATION

A three-hour qualifying examination for all applicants seeking admissions into Master and Postgraduate Diploma Degree programmes will hold on Saturday, 2nd July, 2016, at 10.00a.m prompt. Please note that the above information services as the invitation for the qualifying examinations. Candidates applying for the MPhil/Ph.D. and the Ph.D. programmes will be contacted by the various departments through the contact phone numbers submitted by the candidates.
Venues of the examinations are stated below:

(i) FACULTY OF ARTS NEW LECTURE THEATRE: – For candidates seeking admission into Faculty of Arts.

(ii) FACULTY OF ARTS LECTURE HALL AND FACULTIES OF MANAGEMENT SCIENCES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES LECTURE THEATHRE: – for candidates seeking admissions into Faculties of Management Sciences and Social Sciences.

(iii) FACULTY OF EDUCATION OLD LECTURE THEATRE – For candidates seeking admissions into Faculties of Education and Agriculture.

(iv) LECTURE THEATRE I & II NEW SCIENCE LECTURE THEATRE & ENGINEERING LECTURE THEATRE
For candidates seeking admissions into the Faculties of, Basic Medical Sciences, Clinical Sciences, Engineering & Technology, Physical and Life Sciences.

(v) FACULTY OF COMMUNICATION AND INFORMATION SCIENCES LECTURE ROOM: for candidate seeking admission into the Faculty.

Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State will conduct a Post-UTME (PUTME) Screening for candidates who wish to be admitted into the University for 2016/2017 Academic year. The screening shall be conducted from

SATURDAY 14TH MAY TO SATURDAY 21ST MAY, 2016.

A. ELIGIBILITY

The following shall be eligible for the screening:

1. UTME candidates that picked the University with a minimum score of 180 in the 2016/2017 UTME Results.

2. Candidates with ‘A’ Level Certificate or First Degree who had applied for Direct Entry Admission through JAMB into the University.

3. Candidates who possess Diploma certificate of the University and who had applied for Direct Entry admission through JAMB into the University.

4. Candidates with Diploma from other approved institutions with minimum of Upper Credit who had applied through JAMB for Direct Entry admission into the University.

5. Candidates who did not pick the University but with a minimum score of 180 in the 2016/2017 UTME results.

SCHOLARSHIPS FOR NIGERIAN STUDENTS 2016
Nigerian students in the 2015/16 academic year should be on the lookout for scholarship positions in 2016. Scholarships from various sponsors, multinational companies and governments will be rolling out soon.
Below is a list of available scholarships for students in 2016:
A. FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIPS
1. Federal Government Scholarships Tenable in Nigerian Tertiary Institutions
The Nigerian Federal Government through its Ministry of Education offers the “Nigerian Scholarship Awards Tenable In Nigerian Tertiary Institutions” to Postgraduate, Undergraduate, HND and NCE students of Nigerian origin. All courses, both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, offered at Nigerian tertiary institutions are eligible. This is a Full Fee scholarship award, and the annual application deadlines are usually in April-May.
2. Bilateral Educational Agreement (BEA) Oversea Scholarships for Nigerians
The Federal Government of Nigeria through its Ministry of Education offers the “Bilateral Educational Agreement (BEA) Oversea Scholarships” to Nigerian undergraduate, masters and doctoral students. The scholarship duration range from 4 – 9 years depending on the level and the country of study. The participating countries are responsible for the tuition and accommodation, while Nigeria government takes care of the remaining needs.
3. PTDF Scholarships Programme in Nigeria & Overseas (UK & France)
The Petroleum Technology Development Fund, PTDF, a parastatal of the Nigerian Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources offers the “PTDF Scholarship Scheme” to suitably qualified Nigerian Undergraduates, Masters and PhD students. Scholarships are awarded for studies in the United Kingdom and France, and also at upgraded Universities in Nigeria. However, Undergraduate level awards are for studies in Nigeria only, and on approved subject areas. Deadline for application is usually in late October every year.

Admissions have commenced in virtual most of the major private institutions, which others are still to come. So far only two government own institution has commenced admissions as of April 13th, 2016. University of Ilorin have vowed to admit more this incoming session if given the nod by the NUC.
