Iran is the super power military in the middle East. The NATO bloc, Eastern Russian,China and Indian knows this. Even Saudi Arabia knows this fact.

Iran doesn't only boast of the capabilities in weapons but in the covert management and funding of their proxies such as Hezbollah, Hamas, Houthis etc.

The U.S doesn't want to risk a regional war as it will further complicate things for Isreal who is currently locked in a battle with Hamas. And the U.S fears prolonged war.

Iran knows this so, they flexing their muscle to show dominance in the region.

At this point, it is necessary that every country should boycott Israel and also put sanctions on their head.
There is a difference between fighting a terrorist organization and genocide. How many Hamas fighters have been killed compared to innocent civilians? This is purely genocide and ethnic cleansing. As it stands, Hitler is a saint against Israel's current leadership. Same people who regard the holocaust as an offence to them are guilty of carrying out something worse.

I'm not in support of terrorist acts whether done by terror groups or state actors. Israel and it's allies must be realize that they have failed soon, other states and their backed militias will double their involvement.

Foreign Affairs / Egypt's Sisi Wins Election, Returns For Third Term As President by kingharzy: 3:29pm On Dec 18, 2023
Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has swept to a third, six-year term as Egypt's president, winning 89.6% of votes in an election in which he faced no serious challengers, the National Election Authority announced on Monday.

The election took place as Egypt struggles with a slow-burning economic crisis and tries to manage the risk of spillover from the war in Gaza, which borders Egypt's Sinai Peninsula.

Some voters said the eruption of conflict in Gaza had encouraged them to vote for Sisi, who has long presented himself as a bulwark of stability in a volatile region - an argument that has also proved effective with Gulf and Western allies providing financial support to his government.

Voting in Egypt was held over three days on Dec. 10-12, with the state and tightly controlled domestic media pushing hard to boost turnout, which the election authority said had reached 66.8% - above the 41% recorded at the last presidential election in 2018.

The election featured three other candidates, none of them high profile. The most prominent potential challenger halted his run in October, saying officials and thugs had targeted his supporters - accusations dismissed by the National Election Authority.

"There were no elections, Sisi used the entire state apparatus and security agencies to prevent any serious contender from even running," said Hossam Bahgat, head of the Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights (EIPR), an independent group.

"Just like last time he handpicked his opponents who only went through the motions of running against the president with either muted or almost no criticism of his disastrous policies."

Egypt's state media body has said the vote was a step towards political pluralism and authorities have denied violations of electoral rules.

CONSTITUTION AMENDED
Sisi, a former general, has overseen a sweeping crackdown on dissent across the political spectrum since leading the 2013 overthrow of Egypt's first democratically elected leader, Mohamed Mursi of the Muslim Brotherhood.

He was elected to the presidency in 2014, and re-elected in 2018, both times with 97% of the vote. The constitution was amended in 2019, extending the presidential term to six years from four, and allowing Sisi to stand for a third term.
Some admire an infrastructure drive including a new capital built from scratch in the desert east of Cairo. Others see the city as a costly extravagance at a time when Egypt's debt has swollen and prices have soared.

Sisi's backers say security is paramount, and that some groups have benefited under his rule.

That included women, said Nourhan ElAbbassy, assistant secretary-general of the youth branch of the pro-Sisi Homat AlWatan party.
"We would love to see more females in key positions, more female ministers in the cabinet as long as they’re qualified, and revisions of personal rights laws that have to do with issues like marriage, divorce and alimony," she said.

Authorities have sought to address criticism of Egypt's human rights record with steps including opening a national dialogue and releasing some prominent prisoners. Critics have dismissed the moves as largely cosmetic.

Many Egyptians expressed indifference about the election, saying the result was a foregone conclusion.

Reuters reporters who covered the vote in Cairo, Giza, Suez and the Sinai Peninsula witnessed people being bussed in to some polling stations and lingering outside them waving national flags or banners as patriotic music played. Other polling stations appeared quiet.

A Reuters reporter saw bags of flour, rice and other basic commodities being handed out to people who voted in Giza, and some voters said they were pressured by their employers to take part, or that financial incentives were offered to those who cast ballots.

The state media body said any provision of money or goods in return for votes was a criminal offence, punishable by fines or prison.

Most unfortunate thing is his brothers who will tell you to let him be and then still condemn the government when terrorists force them to sit at home and entrench their future to poverty and backwardness... Ideally anyone who as much mentions the name of a national detractor or terrorist should be made to answer. How do we progress as a nation when we give those against our unity the voice and attention to perpetrate evil against our national interest??

The southeast needs to take a cue from the northeast and northwest. The southeast is lucky that it is taking time to reap from the propaganda in place that has given terrorists the freedom to operate, unlike the northwest which has been suffering from the moment it allowed so called bandits to operate amongst the people. If the terrorists in just a single LGA in Zamfara or Kebbi are allowed into Imo or Abia, believe me the rest of the country will be gettung 3 days national mourning every week.

My people, don't just hate the politicians you accuse of corruption, hate and hate those among us who seem like nobodies but go about preaching hate and disunity. Nigeria deserves a chance at getting it right and only Nigerians can make Nigeria right.

God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria, God bless me.

Its advisable to record with dashcams or concealed camera devices and not with mobile phones. Due to the precarious security situation of the country, even the use of earpiece and headphones at military checkpoints is forbidden. Making it obvious to soldiers at a checkpoint that you're recording their activity without a visible identification item that proves you're a member of the press or a journalist is a sure way to cut your life.

If you go through the Funtua-Gusau-Sokoto highway you'll know there's a checkpoint for road users and a checkpoint for your life. Help them help you.

I believe with the right research and development, sourcing and production Nigeria will meet it's protein demand without any stress. I read sometime ago how Mosquitoes were processed into food and I was marveled. Very nutritious and safer protein sources abound on this continent, we have no business with producing Chicken for ourselves rather, we eat what we have and produce for others what they want. I don't have a degree in economics but I know this is a sure way to feed and strengthen our population without importing what's unsafe to us and weakening our economy.

Everyone expects the military to be perfect yet they aren't perfect themselves. How can someone who claims to be "literate" not understand what an accident is? It is something that happens to everyone at anytime and we can only be disciplined to react accordingly when it does happen.
I'm not absolving the Army of any blame or being insensitive to the loss of lives, but let's be realistic, the bickering and propaganda that some folks are inventing is just to show us how polarized we are as a people.

How can sit in your shop and assume the Army is deliberately annihilating some ethnic groups?? Like how?? Let's assume it is so, is the Army made up of a sole ethnic group??

Someone is saying the innocent who died deserved it like WTF?? How hardened the hearts of some people are eh, you'll understand why we're stagnant.

You'll confidently support and hail Israel that uses jet fighters to maim and kill innocent women and children then condemn the Nigeria Army since you people's fathers are bastards na. Someone that still depends on his machete-armed "mai guard", anointing oil, charm and local vigilante for protection will come online and tell a whole armed forces how to operate.

Re: NAF Denies Involvement
https://www.nairaland.com/7930682/no-air-strike-last-24

According to reports as seen on AriseNews X platform, the Army was responsible for the airstrike that led to civilian casualties in Kaduna.

ARMY ACCIDENTALLY BOMBS KADUNA VILLAGERS

Many residents have been reportedly killed in an accidental air strike carried out by a Nigerian Army aircraft at Tudun Biri village in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The incident is said to have occurred around 9pm on Sunday, when villagers gathered for Maulud celebration.

The Kaduna state government in its reaction says it has received briefings from security forces on the attack which is said to have left an unknown number of citizens dead and many others injured.

At a meeting presided over by Deputy Governor Hadiza Balarabe, which had in attendance heads of security agencies, religious and traditional leaders, the Nigerian Army explained the circumstances that led to the unintended attack.

The General Officer Commanding One Division of the Nigerian Army in Kaduna, Major General VU Okoro explained that the Nigerian Army was on a routine mission against terrorists before its operations inadvertently affected members of the community resulting in a collateral damage.

SalamRushdie:
The Americans clearly have armed combat drones in our airspace

Don't get it twisted, It is the duty of the Airforce to defend our airspace buh that doesn't mean it is the only one with power in the skies. The Army and Navy have air assets and conduct/coordinate operations from the same airspace. Like I said earlier, if you're familiar with the operations going on in the Northwest, then only the Army can be responsible for this fatality.

The NAF restraints its kinetic involvement in the Northwest unlike in the northeast.

Some people actually think the NAF is shooting itself on the feet by saying it is not the only one operating CAVs. When you take a look at the North West as an APR of the armed forces together with ongoing operations within the area, you'll know and understand that anything can happen and anyone can do something. If you say an airstrike was made and truly, an airstrike is proven to have been carried out, then the Army is in a better position to explain. And if it's the usual fake news they peddle then you detractors need to be stopped.
