An undisclosed governor and a highly ranked leader from the eastern region spoke to Saturday Vanguard on why the leaders from the region stood against IPOB by banning it affairs in the Southeast zone, explaining it was a way to stop the conflict caused by the IPOB's actions.

It was explained that the governors action was due to Nnamdi Kanu's persisting refusal to listen to the Igbo leaders in the issue of agitation of Biafra.

However, the governors said they were not unaware of the marginalization of the Igbos, explaining that the way IPOB is asking for secession is not the good way to seek justification for the Igbo race.

He said: “Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of IPOB was increasingly causing tension in Igbo land and had refused to adhere to all the advice given to him. Between Tuesday and Thursday, some lives had been lost. Who were those killed? They were Igbos. Who caused the fracas? Nnamdi Kanu and his members did. But we condemn the killings. We told him several times that Igboland will be better in a restructured Nigeria and that secession should not be on the card.

‘’He also insisted that there would be no election in Igboland. If there’s anarchy in Igboland, who will invest in the place? Business will crash. IPOB’s activities were already affecting businesses in Igboland.

They did not care. All they were talking about was Biafra. They were causing tension in the country and we did not want anything that would lead to another civil war. Igbos are yet to recover from the effects of the civil war that ended in 1970 and another group was almost dragging the country into another crisis.

“There is no doubt that Igbo are marginalised. That is why we insisted on a restructured Nigeria. We want peace to achieve a better Nigeria. But Kanu appeared to be working against peace. We would agree on things and he would go out to renege and be courting trouble.

“We proscribed IPOB because it was in the interest of lives, property and general development of the Igbo to do so. The way they have championed the Biafra agitation was not good for the Igboman. It was not going to lead to anything. It was rather exposing our people to strife, poverty, killings and it was diverting business from the area. We didn’t see how any foreign or local investors will do business in an area full of tension and a full-blown crisis. That is why we banned IPOB.”

The Northern elders over the auspice of North Elder's Forum, NEF, have stated that the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki rescued President Buhari from the opportunity on the side of Indigenous People Of Biafra to mess him up in court, following the ban in IPOB and tagging it as a terrorist organisation by the FG.

The Senate President voiced out just less than 24 hours after the Federal Government announced IPOB as a terrorist group, saying it is unconstitutional. He further stated that IPOB can only be declared a terrorist group by a legislation from the Nigerian National Assembly.

Dr. Paul Unongo, Chairman of the Northern Elder's Forum, who uttered the statement on Thursday during the press conference explained that Dr. Saraki rescued President Buhari from the hands of the IPOB group to disgrace him in court for being ignorant of the law.

He said President Buhari would have been dragged to court over the ban and get disgraced by the IPOB group.

“We wish to reiterate our consistent position that there are no issues of disagreement and demands by individuals and groups in the country or anywhere in the world that dialogue cannot resolve.

“The NEF acknowledges that we, the citizens of Nigeria, are capable of resolving our issues internally.

“The North recognizes and acknowledges that there are demanding and legitimate questions on the current operations of the Nigerian State.

“The North has very clear ideas on all issues and positions that the nation sees as challenges and is willing to dialogue on all of them,” he said.

“What the North will not allow, however, is to be stampeded into adopting an agenda and grand designs from other parts of Nigeria which will hurt its basic interests.

“The North will demand a respectful and responsible approach to its participation in the search for answers to the many questions confronting our country.

“We will also insist that the Constitution and our national institutions, such as the National Assembly be accorded due and appropriate recognition in all initiatives and efforts towards addressing our challenges,” Unongo stated.

“In the interest of peace, unity and stability of our great country and the wellbeing of her people, we hereby call upon the Attorney-General of the Federation and the relevant judicial authorities to continue to uphold the rule of law without fear or favour,” he added.

Two Cousins has been charged for murder after a pizza delivery driver, Clarence Taper delivered a pizza in their apartment near 76th Street and brown Deer Road.

The persecutor explained that Mekael Kennedy, 17, from Hartford and his cousin D'Andre Kennedy, 25, of Lilwaukee forcefully collected the pizza and pulled the trigger on the driver after he brought the ordered pizza on Monday Sept. 11. Meanwhile, the police said on September 15, Mekael Kennedy's girlfriend ordered pizza from Buddy's Pizza and Teak, which Clearence Taper delivered to the house. Kennedy then collected his cousin's gun, covered his face with hockey mask and asked Taper to hand over all his sell's money for the day. Kennedy explained to the police that he didn't know when the trigger pulled off, saying he had the gun's safety on.

D'Andre Kennedy said his cousin shot dead the pizza driver after he tried to unmask him.

Mekeal Kennedy confessed to the police that he robbed one Papa John's delivery driver at the beginning of the week but didn't pull the trigger on him because he stayed calm.

"It was senseless, it was just senseless," Cash said.

Mekael has been charged for armed robbery and murder and he could spend 95 years in prison and D'Andre was also charged for accommodating a criminal and interrupting a police officer, could serve four years aswell in prison.

In the Niger Delta, Joint Task Force, JTF with code name Operation Delta Safe, disclosed that a success on rescue mission of four civilians, two soldiers, and a lady who were abducted by militants in River states after a gun battle with the militants.

Major Ibrahim Abdullahi, coordinator of the Joint Media campaign Centre, revealed in a statement yesterday in Yenagoa, that two soldiers were abducted on Monday as they journey for banking services in ONELGA, Rivers State. Abdullahi said the soldiers were delivered during the military operation at a militant camp having many shrines in a forest at Obiozimini community in Rivers State.

Major Abdullahi said the troops had a serious gun battle with the militants before they fled to the forest.

He said “the operation successfully rescued the two abducted personnel. Further search of the campsite led to the rescue of four more civilians that were earlier kidnapped, including a lady.

“The following items were also discovered in the camp and shrines: three pump action guns, eight empty cartridges a human skull and some bones. The camp and shrines were subsequently destroyed, while the rescued victims were evacuated to one of our medical facilities in the area.

“Members of the public are kindly requested to provide any useful information.”

Do you drink beer?

Yes, I drink beer but in moderation too. I take all brands of beer.

What about the alcohol in them?

I know my limits as an individual. For example, I usually mix my beer with soft drinks because soft drinks are too sweet for my liking. So, I’d rather go for any beer that is bitter. In fact, the more bitter the better.

But isn’t that sinful for a Christian who is actively engaged in church activities like yourself?

Do Christians not take wine? Does wine not have alcohol? Every wine does. It is fruit of the vine that is used to make wine. Wine is typically fermented and thus, has alcohol. Though, the percentage of alcohol depends on the stage of fermentation.

Let me tell you, anything that is called fruit wine is not wine but fruit drink. Go Google the meaning of wine and you’ll see it is something that is fermented and must have alcohol. So, all these concoctions that they call fruit wine, non-alcoholic wines, etc., are not wine and should not be called wine at all. In fact, I run away from them because they are concoctions. That’s why you see some of them are blue, green, etc.

All those drinks they call fruit juices, does it ever occur to you that each pack has the same taste from year to year? But when you buy two oranges and eat them, do you not notice they both taste differently? So how come these packaged so-called “pure juice” you buy are forever the same taste? As a food scientist though, I know what went wrong; that is, what was done to make them taste the same. So, I wouldn’t patronize them. I either blend my own juice or preferably, eat my fruits like that for benefits of the roughages. I am not saying we should not patronize these drinks, but it is however important that we are careful about the amount we take in.

Speaking as a guest on The Beat FM's Morning Rush, Mr Eazi said when asked about his success story.

“After I came back from Ghana, I got a job in oil and gas in Port Harcourt that paid about six thousand dollars per month but I quit because I was not finding fulfillment in it. I mean it was the same thing everyday, the same routine over and over again. The decision to quit the job finally hit me when my boss’ wife left him even with all the money he had.
‘After I left my job, I got my Masters degree and with all that qualification I started selling phones in computer village and everyone thought something was wrong with me. One Usman Jubril, who revealed himself as a farmer was apprehended for supposedly destroying solar energy system installed in Government College, Ajara Badadry, Lagos State.

According to PUNCH Metro, the man being drunk was arrested by the security operatives after he slept off in the spot he committed the crime.

Usman in an interview on Tuesday, confessed that he committed the crime under the influence of alcohol and he went to the school premises on September 2 to catch fun after selling off his goods.

He said, “I am a farmer and live in Ipokia, Ogun State. I took cassava and corn to Badagry, but I didn’t make enough sales. I took the goods to Seme, where I sold everything. I came back to Badagry in the evening to have fun.
“I bought three bottles of gin and went with them to the school to watch a football match. I drank everything and took 500ml tramadol. In drunken stupor, I threw a stone at the glass housing the solar system and it broke. I went inside the facility and slept off.
“I smoke Indian hemp, but that was the first time I would take alcohol. It was the drink that affected my faculty. I didn’t even know how I got to their (NSCDC) custody.”

The Kosao-Okaafor District Magistrate Court has remanded a soldier that was supposedly said to have brutally stabbed a civilian to death. The 26-year-old military man is currently being investigated for murder case and will have to re-appear in court on September 18, 2017.

The incident that happened on Friday, during Eid- celebration, was explained by a witness, saying that the suspect which drove in a vehicle with other company, intimidated people and force them to put down whatever valuables they have with them.

The deceased, Nana Yaw Owusu, was also stopped by the suspect who harassed many people, and he was commanded by the suspect to be search which after the searching he was asked to table down his Infinix Note 12 phone, he strongly disagreed.

Following the refusal of the victim, he was stabbed him twice in his neck and stomach and Nana held strong on the suspect, for hiscolleagues to seize the suspect and get him arrested. However, Nana died after he was rushed to the hospital.

The other soldiers left the scene immediately as crowd began to gather and as we report, they are currently on the run.

The sorrowful wife of the victim revealed they have a child together and he is the bread winner of the family.

"The soldier has really left me in pain. He has troubled my life", she said and pointed to a kiosk where the two lived.

Indigenous People of Biafra, (IPOB), Leader, Nnamdi Kanu, in a fresh interview revealed that he will be taking the struggle to Abuja on the 17th of October, ‘I am taking IPOB to Abuja on the 17th of next month for my court case.

In the interview, he said the reason why Biafra actualisation is still lingering is because the Igbos have left God ‘What is delaying Biafra is that the people (Igbo) have not turned away totally from worshipping idols.

I will be going to Arochuwku to build a temple there and we’ll worship God how it used to be.

There was a time God loved us, we used to obey Him by going to Arochukwu to offer Him sacrifice. We started suffering as soon as Arochukwu failed, because the people dabbled into idolatry.

The Igbo should turn away from idolatry and face God and Him alone, that’s the message he said I should give my people.’

A heartbroken woman, Atsede Nigussiem, 26, was at home with her son when her alienated husband came into the house and poured acid on her.

Atsede could not help but ran to the street for help.

Two months after the incident occurred, the grieved victim remain unable to speak as her mouth is left sealed following the harm of the acid. She is also blind in her left eye and is gradually losing sight on the right eye.

She has been left is serious agony of life as she cries daily without stop, following that he eats and drinks with straw.

Atsede is currently receiving treatment from the damages caused from a burns specialists in Bangkok, Thiland.

Communicating in writing, she said:

“I don’t know why my husband did this. I was at my parents house late at night. I just opened the door and it happened. I’m heartbroken and in pain.”

Former Manchester United player, Wayne Rooney, has been charged with drink driving after he was reportedly stopped on Thursday evening by the Cheshire police.

The England international who is currently with Everton, has been allowed to go on bail until September 18, following when he will show up in court.

Local Police force spokesman said: "Cheshire Police has charged a man with drink-driving following a vehicle stop in Wilmslow.

"The man was arrested shortly after 2:00am today, Friday September 1, after officers stopped a black VW Beetle on Altrincham Road, Wilmslow.

"Wayne Rooney, aged 31, has since been charged with driving whilst over the prescribed limit.

"Rooney has been released on bail and is due to appear at Stockport Magistrates’ Court on September 18, 2017."

Rooney was said to be having a time out at the Bubble Room, a bar and restaurant near his home, before his arrest took place.

Rooney 31-year-old has lived in Cheshire with his wife, Coleen, and their children, Kai, Klay and Kit, for more than 12 years.

Rooney, the all-time England top goal scorer is expecting his forth child with his wife.

Today, in Durban, three men were shot dead and seven others sustained injuries in a shootout that break out with the police on N2, in the middle of Harding and Kokstad, in South Africa.

Some men came across the police while they were supposedly on their way to a cash-in-transit robbery.

Police Spokesperson, Captain Nqobile Gwala, said the police units stationed timely stopped the three vehicles going on the supposed robbery mission with a BMW sedan, a Toyota Hilux Legend, a Ford Territory SUV.

“Information indicated that the suspects were going to rob the armoured vehicle which was transporting money along that route. When confronted by police, the suspects opened fire on police officers who immediately retaliated to defend themselves. In the exchange of gunfire, three suspects were shot and killed while seven were arrested, one of whom was removed to hospital for medical attention. Police managed to prevent the robbery of the cash-in-transit vehicle. A total of four AK 47 rifles, a 9mm pistol and additional rifle was seized by police,” she said.

KZN Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Bheki Langa condemned the attack on police officers. “We are grateful that our police officers were not killed or injured following this shoot-out with highly armed criminals even though our SAPS vehicles were damaged in the process. We are also relieved that through the speedy and precise actions of the police officers involved, these dangerous criminals were arrested,'' he said.

The gun battle on Friday has numbered up to 15 robbers to have been killed in KZN for the past one month.

In a high security, the kidnapper was carried before Justice Hakeem Oshodi of the Lagos High Court sitting in Ikeja and was pleaded guilty of the offences committed.

The Judge, Justice Oshodi, today commanded that Evans and his gang member to be kept in Kirikiri Maximum Prison while the female members should be carried to the female side.

He suspended the case till October 19.

The now ex-wife of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Olori Wuraola attested to the fact that their marriage has crashed.

She said in her official statement:

"There is absolutely no truth to the media circulated lies of infidelity and infertility - on my end"

This statement has made people to wonder who is to be faulted in the breakup of the marriage.

On her Official Instagram page, she wrote:

We have got to stop this culture of shaming and vilifying women with false stories of infidelity & nefarious behavior. The spreading of false information (through "sources" afraid to be identified) is the mark of cowards and a cover up for guilty parties to justify their horrific actions. There is absolutely no truth to the media circulated lies of infidelity and infertility- on my end.

What I can confirm, is that the Ooni and I are no more. I inhale love & exhale gratitude. My journey continues as a Humanitarian aiding women and victims of domestic violence & abuse with the United Nations. No matter how much time you've invested, no matter the use of media to silence & manipulate, no matter the circumstance, slander, embarrassment, threats and lies: Get out and seek immediate help!

We've seen this movie before. Women being dragged in the press & blamed for everything under the sun. This behavior is unacceptable. I urge those involved to be mindful of their actions for the eyes of our Almighty God are always watching. The seeds of slander is a cancer that harvests to eat away the souls of the planter.

The police paraded a pastor in Cross River state accused of kidnapping and killing 18 months baby, uprooting her heart for ritual before he was caught.

The pastor, Anthony Obo of God's Commandment Ministry International on the other hand denied all rituals items of bucket filled with blood, victims belongings, and other fetish things found in his church, claiming them to be drama costumes.

The accused was apprehended on Thursday after a man confessed that he delivered a missing baby in the area to the pastor for ritual and on getting to the church, the pastor was filled with blood stains and seen with a heart seem to belong of the 1 year baby, Ms Success, with other items like goat head, dead chicken and other things in the picture below.

Anthony who was with other five accused partners told Vanguard:

“The red chairs covered in white sheet and the black bag and other occult items were used by the youth of my church for art and drama presentation, while the blood in the red bucket is that of the goat and chicken I killed to celebrate the dedication of my child who was one year last week.”

The former commercial okada rider, now turned pastor showed to the police those items he supposed to have been using for his pastoring without displaying fear or emotions.

Cross River Police Command spokesperson, Ms Irene Ugbo, said:

The Federal Government has stated the reason why they cannot arrest members of the coalition of Arewa Youths, explaining that the group said they were incorrectly quoted by the media which KINGSLEYIWU.com.ng is not among those they suppose.

Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau said;

“The group that called themselves coalition of Arewa Associations that held a press conference in Kaduna where they gave October 1 ultimatum to the Igbos to quit the north as a response to what they termed as issue of separatist agenda of the IPOB and claim that there are lots of incitement from the Igbos against the northerners to which the Kaduna State governor responded that they should be arrested for what they reported.

“Of course they later claimed that the media quoted them out of context. I am very much aware that the DSS invited all of them, held a meeting with them to which they made a statement to the effect that what was reported in the media was not what they said.

“They further wrote to the acting President indicating that they did not make inciting statement as to the issue of violence or forceful ejection of the Igbos in the north. However, it was on the basis of that, the northern elders called them to also reaffirm from them that what was reported is not exactly what they meant”.
