ProgrammingRe: [Opinion] B.sc Computer Science In Nigeria? poo! by kingodiase: 9:05am On May 03, 2013
captainhsi: i agree with everyone's view but Angelchyke pascal programming should not be a yardstick for judgeing. It may seem old fashioned but i tell it's services is still requied in some quaters most especially scientific research programming. An example is CERN-world's largest nuclear&particle research lab.-they still makes use of pascal.
There's nothing wrong with pascal but it is a very old language just like fortran, this is mainly due to the fact that it hasn't really been developed which could be because most developers don't make libraries for it. CERN mainly use it for computational stuff, which can be done on any language. If you want to go into software development and mobile app development then learn Java, C++ C and PHP. You could learn these on your own with a compiler and a book or with youtube videos.
ProgrammingRe: Best Uni For Bsc. Computer Science In Nigeria by kingodiase: 11:56pm On May 02, 2013
I am a computer programmer, advanced in C C++ Java Fortran JavaScript and so on. I make mobile apps for google android phone and I studied in the UK. I actually didnt do computer science but got taught programming at university because it was an essential part of being a modern scientist because most scientific simulations are carried out using a computer, so Mr SayoMarvel for you information the universities in the UK are very good in terms on computer science and it also depends on how good the university is as well. But if you wanna get to the standard of making softwares and mobile apps, you would have to learn a lot of the stuff on your own.
