We look up to them, keep tabs on their every move, and listen to their music day in and day out. So it's always sad and shocking to hear that a rapper has passed on. Unfortunately, a large number of emcees have died in 2019, from a Grammy-nominated rapper who was killed in a place where he felt safest, to a Florida rapper with provincial hits, to an LGBTQ-identifying rapper who helped put Latin Trap on the map.



While it's disappointing that many of these rap stars died without a chance to live long lives, fans can find solace in the fact that their faves left behind unforgettable legacies and work that can be replayed as many times as they like. With that, let's take a closer look at and memorialize the rappers who passed away in 2019.



Get a kleenex (or three) if you want, because this might get sad.

1-Nipsey Hussle.

Nipsey Hussle, born Ermias Asghedom, was highly-regarded for his 2018 Grammy-nominated album Victory Lap, but his business acumen and philanthropy work were just as important. After all, it's not everyday that you hear of someone selling their mixtapes for $100 apiece while opening STEM centers for the youth in Los Angeles. He was all about providing resources to his Crenshaw neighborhood — the same area where he lost his life.



According to NBC News, the 33-year-old was outside his store, The Marathon Clothing, when he was fatally shot on March 31, 2019. By Monday, April 1, 2019, the LAPD identified a possible suspect in the shooting, who escaped the scene with the help of "an unidentified female" accomplice, according to CNN. A man named Eric Holder was arrested and charged in the murder the following day.



His death was widely mourned by members of the hip hop world, including Drake, who wrote on Instagram that Hussle had been having the "best run;" Fat Joe, who called him "a beautiful guy since day 1;" and Insecure creator Issa Rae, who said that Hussle had "inspired" her to invest into black communities.



He is survived by two children and his longtime girlfriend, actress Lauren London





2-Cadet

England lost a good one on Feb. 9, 2019. That morning, rapper Cadet, whose real name is Blaine Johnson, tragically died in a car crash. According to the Britain's Press Association (via CNN), Cadet was en route to a performance at a Keele University in Staffordshire, when the taxi he was traveling in collided with a van. As of this writing, it's unclear which vehicle caused the impact. While the drivers of the vehicles made it out (although they were taken to a hospital with "serious injuries", Cadet "died at the scene," according to a police statement obtained by CapitalXtra.



Cadet was apparently just starting to attract widespread attention. "Was chatting to [him] only last week about how excited [he was] for some festivals this summer," fellow musician Example tweeted after learning of Cadet's death. Music producer Manny Norte added that the 28-year-old "couldn't stop smiling" at all of the opportunities he had been getting before his death. "RIP Cadet," he concluded.







3-Kevin Fret

Puerto Rican rapper Kevin Fret, who was once described as "Latin Trap's first openly gay pioneer" by Paper Magazine, was on a mission to lambast homophobia in the urbano market. He did so through tunes like "Soy Asi," which translates to "I'm this way" (via NBC News), a song that has earned more than 3 million views on YouTube. But before he could really spread his message, something bad happened.



According to El Nuevo Dia (via Billboard), Fret was shot in the early hours of Jan. 10, 2019 as he was riding his motorcycle through Puerto Rico. The 24-year-old was then transported to a hospital, where he died. "Kevin was an artistic soul, a big-hearted dreamer. His passion was music, and still had a lot to do," his manager Eduardo Rodriguez said in a statement following the shooting. "This violence must stop. There are no words that describe the feeling we have and the pain that causes us to know that a person with so many dreams has to go. We must all unite in these difficult times, and ask for much peace for our beloved Puerto Rico."



At the time of this writing, it appears that police have yet to arrest any suspects.





Trap House-Tikey Patterson, who went by the moniker "Trap House," was seen as a legend in Phoenix, Arizona. Over the course of his 10-year career, he made a name for himself after opening for 50 Cent, E-40, and Nas (via the Arizona Republic). He was also known for his philanthropic efforts. "He was more than a leader in the music community," Justus Samuel, the founder of the local label Respect The Underground told the Phoenix New Times. "He was a leader in the urban community. He just had a voice, and he used it."



Sadly, Trap House was diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer in the summer of 2018, which has a survival rate of 3 percent (via the Phoenix New Times). A GoFundMe was soon created to help raise money for his medical fees and living expenses while going through treatment, but he lost his battle with the disease just months later on January 19, 2019. He was just 35 years old.





Tech 9-If you were to ask a hip hop fan who their favorite battle rappers are, there's a good chance they'd have Tech 9 on their list. The Philadelphia-bred artist, who was born Akhiym Mickens, could go toe-to-toe with anyone — and he did, battling fellow rap wordsmiths such as Arsenal, and T-Rex (via XXL). He counted some of the biggest stars in the music industry as fans, including Kendrick Lamar and Lupe Fiasco, but he would pass away at the age of 32 before achieving mainstream success.



His death was first announced by a friend, rapper Buttah From-Da Block, through Facebook on March 25, 2019. "Unfortunately we haven't fully figured the cause of death we are still waiting on the autopsy," Buttah told Newsweek. "We are praying that it was natural causes. He had no signs of harm done to his body."



At the time of his death, Tech 9 was allegedly awaiting trial on multiple charges stemming from allegations related to "the daughter of a woman [he] was dating," according to Philly Voice. In response to the charges, Mickens' lawyer said, "Circumstances surrounding the timing of the actual accusation seem to me to be an act of retaliation rather than ... an actual incident that happened."





Nina Ross Da Boss-Nina Ross Da Boss was Tampa, Fla.'s best kept secret. She had tens of thousands of fans, a trove of catchy singles and freestyles, and popular mixtapes like 2012's "The Only S**t Poppin." It's a real shame that the rest of the world didn't get to know her.



According to WFLA, Nina, whose real name was Jimmiel Spillman-Ingram, was the one of the victims of a double homicide that occurred on January 8, 2019. The outlet reported that details were limited, but that the rapper had been with an unidentified male when she was fatally shot. "Spillman-Ingram's car was found crashed into a nearby home and caused some minor damage," WFLA also reported. It appears that the case is still open at the time of this writing. Authorities have asked anyone who may have information to call 813-231-6130.



The 31-year-old is survived by six children, who ranged in age from 2 months old to 11 years old at the time of her death.





Willie Bo-"Song for You" rapper Willie Bo, also known as Willie McCoy, had just gotten back to his native California from a tour when he was shot and killed by six police officers. According to police, they responded to a call on Feb. 9, 2019, regarding an "unresponsive" man in the drive-thru of a Vallejo Taco Bell and arrived to find Bo lying in his car with a gun on his lap. Police say that they tried to open his door, but it was locked. They positioned vehicles behind Bo's car as it was still in drive. However, the 21-year-old became alert, at which point the officers started to yell commands, such as "show me your hands." Instead, they say, Bo reached for his gun, resulting in police firing their weapons at him. According to The Guardian, Bo was hit 25 times, including in the face and chest. He died at the scene.

However, Bo's family has rejected that story, telling the same outlet that body cam footage shows that he was never actually alert. They plan to file a lawsuit against the officers and police department.







Bushwick Bill-Beloved rapper Bushwick Bill, a member of the legendary Houston group Geto Boys, passed away on June 9, 2019, after battling pancreatic cancer. Bill, whose real name was Richard Shaw, told TMZ in May 2019 that he had been diagnosed three months prior, which came as a shock because doctors initially said that a mass on his pancreas was benign.



Despite the grave diagnosis, Bill told the tab, "It's not like I'm afraid of dying, because ... you know, I died and came back already in June 19, 1991, so I know what it's like on the other side." Speaking to KUSF about the near-death experience, Bill said at the time he was a "homicidal maniac with suicidal tendencies," and that he shot at his "girl" and their "three-month-old baby" in order to provoke her into shooting him back. She did, and according to Bill, he was declared dead and was "being prepped for autopsy" when he awoke in the morgue. He ended up losing his right eye — a gruesome injury the Geto Boys exploited for their iconic We Can't Be Stopped album cover.



According to TMZ, Bill was set to perform in Texas just a day before his death, but he missed the show because he was hospitalized. A publicist for the "Damn It Feels Good to Be A Gangsta" rapper said that Bill died at the hospital, surrounded by his family. His son, Javon, told the outlet that Bill's last words were, "I will love you forever." He was 52.







Succeed Phlyguy-Las Vegas rapper Succeed Phlyguy was shot and killed during a home invasion on Oct. 12, 2019, News3 Las Vegas reports. He was 40. His father, Ronnie Cravens Sr., was told by the rapper's roommate that two armed men in ski masks entered their house through the open garage and ordered Succeed and the person he was with to the ground.



"He said as soon as they kicked the door open after they told him to get on the ground that they jacked a rifle back," Ronnie Sr. said. According to the roommate's account, he was heard what was happening from a separate room, grabbed his gun, and a shootout ensued. Succeed Phlyguy managed to escape during the fray, but was shot while exiting the house. He died in his front yard.



"He did everything he wanted to have done because the Bible said something like 'when your job is finished, that's when I come for you,'" the rapper's aunt, Margaret Bell, told 5 News Online. "So he finished his job." While discussing why she believed her nephew was murdered, Bell responded, "Jealousy. People just don't go in there and do the shooting, they do it because of a reason, and I believe the reason was he was moving young man and moving up."







Lil Jon-Filipino battle rapper Lil John was shot and killed in the Philippines province of Cavite on Oct. 20, 2019. He was 35. The rapper, whose real name was John Ross Delos Santos, was sitting on a motorbike when a gunman approached and shot him twice in the head. According to ABS-CBN News (via Coconuts Manila), Lil John died while on the way to the hospital to receive treatment.



Manila Bulletin reported that Lil John and his girlfriend, who was left unharmed, were seated on the motorbike awaiting a fried chicken order when the gunman attacked. At the time of this writing, authorities have yet to identify a suspect, but their investigation is focusing on a potential motive. "Love triangle is one and we are also looking into other angles," a detective stated, adding, "the investigation on the case is still ongoing."



FlipTop, a rap battle league Lil John was best known for competing in, expressed its condolences to his friends and family in a Facebook post.

Remember the day you got married? I’m sure that day will always be etched in your memory.

What a joyous time! I’m sure you can still remember the smell of fragrant flowers, the taste of the luscious wedding cake, the special look in your new spouse’s eyes as you danced the first dance together.

But as the years go by and the bills and children increase in this new family you started, the feelings you once had for each other can drift away.

It starts slowly but, and this is the crucial part, if you don’t change this slow drifting, your marriage could unravel leaving you both on two different boats going on two different directions.

What are the signs we are drifting?

1. You Stop Paying Attention to Each Other

I know what you are thinking. Life is busy! There are too many things pulling at our attention. But, that’s just the point. Other things wanting your attention will never stop but our spouses will always need attention. Perhaps you stop the little touching gestures. You don’t cuddle before you fall asleep or hold hands when you are out or when you watch TV like you used to do.

You begin to say you are too tired for lovemaking and then days turn into weeks without any form of intimacy. You stop greeting them at the door and asking how their day was. And you don’t get off the phone to say hi or stop looking at your cell when he/she is talking.

2. You Stop Considering What Your Spouse Wants in Everyday Decisions

In other words, you stop asking what they want to do that day or for the weekend, or what to eat for dinner, or what they want period. I’m sure you used to do that when you were first married. I bet you even asked them every day what they had for lunch!

But if you are drifting from each other, you begin to stop putting them first in the little things. You stop buying their favorite foods at the grocery store. You stop cooking their favorite foods. Or, you stop cooking period! You may even stop asking them for help for your problems or not wanting to hear/help them with theirs.

Mainly, because when they do ask you, you roll your eyes and say, “Do I have to help?” When these attitudes are in a relationship, it shows that you are no longer a team, which is vital to any marriage.

3. You Begin to See Your Life and Relationship as a Glass Half Empty

You complain. You argue. About everything. You stop listening. But you don’t stop listening to your music, TV, cell phone, etc. Are you losing your desire to be in this marriage which turns into you having a bad attitude?

4. You Begin to Put Others in front of Your Spouse

You start spending more time with your friends and your interests. You stop spending that one on one time that you loved so much at the beginning. And when people/relatives/friends criticize your spouse, you don’t defend them. You either stay silent or agree.

And the worst? You don’t build your spouse up before the children. Perhaps, you even say harsh things to your children about their parent.

What Can Change This Drifting?

I’m so glad you asked this question! Because with every relationship, just wanting it to get better is the first step. Think through all the people in your life right now. I bet there are some friends that you would do anything to keep them in your life. You love being with them and counting on them! And they are there for you. Keeping this friendship alive isn’t hard at all because you want it to continue.

That’s how a marriage stays strong. You really, really want it to continue and to be the best relationship in your life. But, perhaps right now things aren’t so good. You catch yourself complaining about everything. You catch yourself spending more time away with work or friends or the children.

That must stop now.

But, you say, you don’t have any idea how bad he/she is! They are doing this and that and so many things I don’t like that I’m driven away.

That’s why, when Jesus told his disciples that God never wants people to divorce, they said, “If the relationship of the man with his wife is like this, it is better not to marry.” Matthew 19:10

The disciples realized that marriage is for two people – not one who can demand everything his way. God wants marriage to be an example of ‘oneness’, which is why he commands the husband to leave his parents and cleave to his wife. No one should be more important than your spouse.

Stop right now and think about your marriage. Are you drifting? Are you beginning to complain to yourself or others about your mate? If so, I pray that this article will be a red flag and call you to action!

Steps to Take to Bring Intimacy Back into Your Marriage:

1. Fall on your face right now and ask God to forgive you for anything you have done to cause drifting in your marriage.

2. Ask God to show you the way to a strong and unified marriage: perhaps its time to find a good Christian counselor or go on a marriage retreat.

3. Sit down with your spouse and begin to talk, really talk, about yourselves and your marriage.

4. And ask what you can change. Yes, this takes great courage but if you begin first with yourself in trying to change, your spouse will see that you aren’t judging or pointing fingers at him

5 If you don’t have a church home, find one ASAP. Some of your best friendships can be found in a church, especially if you join a Sunday school class or life group in someone’s home. We all need to have people around us, holding us accountable.

6. Make sure you personally have a real and personal relationship with God through His Son Jesus. Only through God’s power can anyone ever change! If you don’t know Jesus then say this prayer: “God, I want you in my life more than anything! Please forgive me of my sins and fill me with your power. Give me the heart and mind and soul that can love and forgive others. Pour your blessings down upon me, my spouse and my family.

7. If you have Jesus as your Lord and Savior, ask daily for his favor and blessings to pour over you and your spouse and children. Jesus will bless those who love Him!

8. Walk with Jesus daily by getting in His Word, praying and having Him first in your life.

9. Keep yourself from anything that hinders your walk with Christ: bad movies, books, friends, the internet, the cell phone. Anything that might try to turn you away from the Lord or your spouse.



10.Don’t compare your spouse with any other person. You might think another husband/wife would be better than yours but remember that everyone has a sin nature and is far from perfect. That’s why nothing works well apart from God and His power in our life.

11. Use words of life and not death (Proverbs 18:21). Say loving and good words to your spouse and your children.

12. Do not criticize him, his family or anything about him.

13. And one of the most important things you can do to keep your marriage from drifting? Be kind. Yes, just be kind.

The sacked All Progressives Congress Deputy Governor-elect in Bayelsa State, Senator Biobarakuma Degi-Eremienyo, has said he did not forge any of his certificates.

The Deputy Governor-elect, who was sacked alongside the Governor-elect, David Lyon, less than 24 hours to their inauguration by the Supreme Court, said this on Thursday when he spoke with newsmen in Abuja.

Degi-Eremienyo called for the investigation of his credentials.

He said: “The aim of this press conference is to defend my reputation, which the Justices of the Supreme Court, whether consciously or unconsciously, subjected to scurrilous scandal, assault and unfair imputation.

“Let me state that some of my primary school teachers are still alive: Chief Eredogiyo Watson, Chief Allen Obebe-Orukari and Susan Otiotio.

“Let me also state in clear and graphic terms that I attended two secondary schools.

“First, Nyemoni Grammar School, Abonnema, Rivers State, where some of my classmates were Harrison Braide, Tombo Douglas, Ferdinand Amabebe, Prof. Owunari George Will, Justice Biobele Georgewill, Chief David Briggs and Alpheus Otta and some of my teachers were Mr. Wamarte and Mrs. Humbly, Mr. Frank, etc.

“All my academic certificates are in the public domain.

“Whether they are genuine or forged are verifiable matters.

“If these certificates exist and have not been altered in any manner, it would mean they are genuine.

There are many reasons why married people cheat. Upwards of 40% of married couples are impacted by infidelity,1 and despite the high percentage, most people — even those who stray — will say that cheating is wrong. The most important preventive methods against Lassa fever outbreaks is to eliminate rodent habitats by improving sanitation, safe food storage and preparation, and clean water access.



Of all confirmed cases, 74 per cent are from Edo (35 per cent), Ondo (33 per cent) and Ebonyi (6 per cent) states. The predominant age-group affected is 21-30 years with a male to female ratio for confirmed cases of 1:1.2.

Domestic violence as suffered by men took another dimension on Tuesday in Owerri, the Imo State capital, as a wife {name withheld} cut off her husband’s nose, tip of the tongue and upper teeth after a quarrel.

The victim is said to be a medical doctor with the Federal Medical Centre, Owerri.

The wife, according to a Twitter user, who claims to be a friend to the victim with the Twitter handle @guchijones, called the mother of the victim to come and carry her son.

According to the Twitter user, the doctor was rushed to the hospital and was stabilized. He however disclosed that though he is stable at the moment, he cannot yet talk because he is on tracheostomy.

It is not clear what led to the quarrel between the couple and how the woman was able to overpower him to carry out the act.

Domestic violence perpetrated by women against men has been on the increase in the country lately, leading to the death of some of the men.
