The first step to mastering and perfection is of course realizing that there is practically a whole lot to learn. Scour the web for useful materials and devote time to areas intrinsic to computer science as divergence might not yield entirely positive results but take to mind that a modicum of knowledge is reasonable as regards other aspects. I wouldn't advise you to build only with Java although it's possible.

A better alternative will be to use Java on the client side in the user's device and create a backend server. You will need have knowledge about web sockets, it's different from Http request and response.

You can build your backend web sockets with node js and socket.io or even with python. I'm not a php fan, so I won't mention it. I've actually recently build a built a web socket with python. Python has nice libraries for everything.

If it's a mobile chat app he intends building, I would suggest he learns any of the hybrid platforms (Ionic, Cordova or React Native) so as to make his app platform independent.

.GOD, OMNI-BENEVOLENT? (A DISCUSSION)

God, seen as the primal cause, the precursor of space and time and transcendent to laws He created. All religions have their definition of who God is and all are non sequitur to each other giving different pictures of the same entity. Of importance is the Judaeo-Christian deity, Yahweh/Jehovah. This 'version' of God seems to be the most popular and seen as the true picture of the eternal artisan. So grandeur an entity, and a rather important factor in the shaping of lives. The Jewish description of "God" is admirable and noble but comes with disturbing characters and seeming reasons for wanting to wish away this being as existent. The character of the Judaeo-Christian God is rather too anthropomorphic though modern philosophers insist on an impersonal concept. For those who are naive, anthropomorphism refers to giving human attributes and qualities to non-humans be it animals, objects or beings of 'folklore'.
Now, on what basis can we call the Jewish God 'omni-benevolent'? By omni-benevolent, I mean entirely 'good' and lagged of evil qualities. And if this God is the creator, why the change during New Testament times? And if He is good, why does evil thrive?
The Bible, a book said to reveal the innate qualities of this being in its entirety also contains disturbing stories about this 'God'...
1. He seems to be pleased with burnt flesh:
"Then Noah built an altar to the LORD and took of every clean animal and of every clean bird and offered burnt offerings on the altar,
And the LORD perceived a sweet aroma and said in His heart, 'I will never curse the earth again for man's sake" - Genesis 8:20-21..
"And in the process of time, it came to pass that Cain brought an offering of the fruit of the ground to the Lord,
Abel also brought the firstling and the fattest of his flock and the LORD respected Abel and his offering" - Genesis 4:3-4..
"And he shall offer from it all its fat. The fat tail and the fat that covers its intestines,
the two kidneys and the fat that is on them by the flanks and the fatty lobe attached to the liver above the kidneys, he shall remove;
and the priest shall burn them on the altar as an offering made by fire to the LORD. It is a trespass offering." - Leviticus 7:3-5
Amongst African traditionalists, burnt offerings are made to appease malevolent spirits and to placate demonic beings but never to win the favour of kind deities. It is a slogan amongst adherent of the Judaeo-Christian faith and probably the Islamic faith that God cannot be compared to mundane beings/deities who are attached to earthly things and so much require them that they would kill for it. Yet in various passages in the Bible, we could see JAH request sacrifices and even placing criteria on what must be offered. My thinking has always tingled since I loved to believe or to be espoused to the idea that the Jewish God is entirely different from other gods as I considered numerous sacrifices requested by YAHWEH..
What makes Him a different deity if He requests sacrifices like other gods?
2. He gets easily offended:
"And when they arrived Nachon's threshing floor, Uzzah puts out his hand to the ark of God and took hold of it for the oxen stumbled,
Then the anger of the LORD was incited against Uzzah and God struck him there for his error; and he died there by the ark of God" - 2 Samuel 6:6-7
Now, what was wrong with Uzzah trying to place the ark correctly since the oxen stumbled? How is it morally justifiable that God would kill a man for trying to see after things that concern Him?
Well, people would say that God transcends his laws and cannot be held by the law, taken! Then how come evil abounds and He does nothing about it?
3. He loves wars:
Christians are hypocritic on this aspect, I for one admit hypocrisy when it comes to this. We dismiss the Islamic God as a warlord and tribal tyrant who would do anything to make sure his religion spreads. Yet we fail to admit the malevolent, sadistic instances of the Jewish God...
"Thus says the LORD of hosts 'I will punish what Amalek did to Israel, how he ambushed him on his way from Egypt.
Now go and attack Amalek and destroy completely what they have and do not spare them. But kill both man and woman, toddler and nursing child, ox and sheep, camel and donkey' " - 1 Samuel 15:2-3...
Fighting the war might have been for a noble cause but including innocent children is a big whoop...
As Albert Einstein once said, I refuse to believe in a God who shares in the frailties of humans and it is inconceivable that God plays dice with the world.
This character is rather too flawed or the author of this portion was a savage.
4. He struggles for glory with gods which supposedly do not exist:
"You shall not make for yourselves any sculpted image or the resemblance of anything that occupies the heavens or that is below the earth or that is in the water below the earth;
you shall not bow down to them nor pay obeisance to them. For I the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the sins of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generation of those who hate Me" - Exodus 20:4-5
Why get jealous of other gods if He is the only maximal being that can exist? or do other gods also exist and they are His rivals?
The verse also points something else of which Christians have been hypocritic about, why does God punish children for the sins of their ancestors?
This act is intrinsic to gods of wild, barbaric and under civilized nations. The God seen as the true God should be different and overlook the possibility of going after other gods since He is the highest being possible.
5. Hell fire in the nature of a good God:
This is the ultimate sadism in the nature of the God the bible would have us adore. Now, let us do some analogy here. This goes further to prove something, the God of the Old Testament and the New Testament are probably not the same God.
Hell fire is not in the nature of the Old Testament God. In fact, He totally abhors burning people in fire;
"You shall not worship the Lord your God in that way for every abomination to the Lord, things He hates they do to their gods; for they burn their sons and their daughters in the fire to their gods" - Deuteronomy 12:31
"For the children of Judah have done evil in my presence says the Lord, they have placed their abominations in the house which is called by my name to pollute it.
And they have built the high places of Tophet which is in the Valley of the son of Hinnom, to burn their sons and daughters in the fire which I did not command neither did it come into my heart" - Jeremiah 7:30-31
The Jewish God totally hated the idea of incineration.
Now, the Christian God who is supposedly the same as the Jewish God proves aberrant to the nature of the Jewish God, how?
- He doesn't love wars, He is pacifist.
- His punishment is eternal even though the sin of the offender is finite (a disturbing nature).
- He doesn't really interfere in human affairs as much as the Jewish God.
-He is not bothered if you worship other gods and He doesn't make it a necessity that you give Him all your attention but hell awaits if you don't give it.
Hell fire was foreign to Jewish tradition and folklore. It was originally a Hellenistic concept and it spread on Greek conquest. The Platonic concept of the immortally immaterial soul (another concept foreign to Jewish tradition) also aided this doctrine. The cronies in the early church accepted this doctrine as firm and true though it is quite uncertain that the Apostles of Jesus the Messiah also believed in an infernal confine of eternal punishment. This doctrine, infused into the Christian tenet, gave its God a feature distinct from and incongruous to the Jewish God, the said root God.
The question is, how does eternal suffering sound right to the ears of sane and moral people?? Is it morally sound that a place of torment has been prepared for people who faulted on the precepts of the grand Creator of the cosmos? How then does it make this 'God', a good one?
People who adhere to other forms of 'isms'; Dystheism, Catharism, Maltheism, e.t.c. have proposed different answers. A most notable one is that of the 'Demiurge' .. the word is of Latin origin, 'demiurgus' which means 'Artisan', 'Sculptor' or 'Designer' and has come to refer to the creator of the universe but according to proponents, the Demiurge is not the true God but is a subordinate or is lesser than the first cause known as the Almighty. And according to them, the Demiurge is primarily but not necessarily evil. The proponents of Catharism view the God of the Bible (chiefly the Old Testament) as a Demiurge both good and evil and lesser than the Almighty God and they place basis on the following verse:
"I form the light and create darkness, I make peace and cause calamity; I the Lord, do all these things" - Isaiah 45:7
Others hold that a good God cannot create imperfection and still smile or approve of it considering He does nothing regarding the present state of this world.
To most of these people, if God does exist, He is evil.
Considering these things, how can we justify the goodness of God?
How can we be certified that the future of the world is going to be one we would see as too good to be true?
