The Bauchi State Office of the Nigeria Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has sealed 10 petrol stations for rules violation.

NMDPRA’s Controller of Operations, Abdullahi Iliyasu, gave the figure in an interview on Thursday in Bauchi.

Mr Iliyasu listed the outlets’ offences to include breach of safety measures such as non-provision of fire extinguishers, sand buckets, adding that some stations were sanctioned for shortchanging customers through under delivery of products.

According to him, NMDPRA recently discovered 10 illegal filling stations in the state. “We are investigating the matter for appropriate measures,” the official said.

He said the agency would continue to intensify efforts on surveillance and routine inspection of all petroleum outlets in the state.

“Regular surveillance and inspection would prevent diversion of products and ensure unhindered delivery of manifested products to designated filling stations.”

Mr Iliyasu called on independent petroleum marketers to establish liquefied gas plants in line with federal government’s efforts at expanding utilisation of cooking gas.

The official blamed high cost of cooking gas in the country on importation and landing costs of the commodity.

He said the agency had given licence for establishment of no fewer than 10 gas plants in the state.

Interim President of Guinea, Mamady Doumbouya, has forgiven the country’s national men’s football team for crashing out of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in a 1-0 loss to the Gambia but wants a partial refund for the games not played in the competition.

The president says that his utmost intention was to encourage them, having understood that building teams take time.

“Latest on Guinea President Mamady Doumbouya has forgiven the team. Says his ultimatum was just to encourage them. He understands team building takes time.

“But the money given to the team covered QF, Semi-final, and final games and that must be returned to the state coffers,” Ghanian sports journalist Saddik Adams tweeted on Wednesday.

Mr Doumbouya previously said the team will refund the state’s money if they failed to win the cup. The Guinea elephants, however, crashed out of the competition on Monday.

The Borno State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of political thugs who attacked and brutalised a female resident of Maiduguri, Fadila Abdulrahman, over her Facebook post criticising Ahmad Satomi Grema, a lawmaker representing Jere federal constituency.

In a video that has since gone viral, the thugs said to be loyal to the lawmaker, were seen slapping Abdulrahman in her shop at Shehu Sanda Kyarimi Park in Maiduguri.

The goods in the shop were destroyed and the facility vandalised.

The victim had expressed dissatisfaction with the leadership of the Borno lawmaker.

The suspects arrested by the police are Bello Musa aka Al-Shabba 24 Yrs, Nasiru Abubakar a.k.a. Mane 22yrs, Mala Mohammed a.k.a Bobby 30yrs and Ali D. Shettima a.k.a Ari 25yrs.

They were arrested after Governor Babagana Zulum directed the security agencies to fish out the culprits and make them to face the full wrath of the law.

SaharaReporters learnt that Fadila was assaulted in her shop at Shehu Sanda Kyarimi Park on Sunday evening, over a Facebook post she made about the lawmaker.

In a recorded video of the attack, a leader of the thugs was heard abusing the lady adding that he would assign assassins to kill her as he was ready to sacrifice his life should anyone verbally attack his ‘political’ master.

“Be careful. Otherwise, we will just waste you,” he was heard saying.

The thugs were seen in different pictures holding dollars after mercilessly beating the lady.
