It's always good to combine batteries of Similar conditions.
If the current battery isn't so strong, better not combine it with a new one else you risk damaging or degrading the new battery.

But if they are both new or very similar (including health wise), you can always combine it.

Also ensure they are of same or very close Ratings (E.g Voltage, Amperage, etc).
