Sports / Mikel Shuns Captain Arm Band During Match by KKessy(m): 9:45am On Oct 09, 2015
Changed man Mikel arrives early to camp
A mild drama ensued during the international match between Nigeria and Congo DR yesterday when Chelsea star Mikel Obi refused to collect the captain’s armband from Ahmed Musa after the CSKA forward was substituted.
The game which was played in Vise, Belgium on Thursday night saw goals goals from Dieumerci Mbokani and Jordan Nkololo hand Super Eagles new manager Sunday Oliseh his first defeat in three matches after previously wining a friendly against Niger and drawing goalless away to Tanzania in an AFCON 2017 qualifier.
Prior to yesterday’s game Ahmed Musa was named the captain by the Oliseh after stripping longest-serving member of the team, Vincent Enyeama off the captaincy, a situation which led to the goalkeeper announcing his international retirement on Thursday.
According to sources in the team’s camp, the way the former captain was treated did not go down well with some senior members and this however played out on the field of play in yesterday’s game when Musa decided to hand over the armband to Mikel after being substituted for Alex Iwobi in the 57th minute only for the Chelsea player to decline.
Monaco left-back, Elderson Echiejile save the team from what could be an embarrassment by putting on the arm band for the remainder of the game.
Oliseh will hope to win over the dressing room and put up a better performance against Cameroon on Sunday.

Politics / UK Court Seizes 27,000 Pounds From Ex Petroleum Minister Alison-madueke by KKessy(m): 9:20pm On Oct 05, 2015
The Westminster Magistrate’s Court on Marylebone Road, London, on Monday granted an application for seizure of 27,000 pounds seized from a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke.
Mrs. Alison-Madueke was arrested and later released on bail on Friday for alleged corruption-related offences.
The cash was seized under Section 295 of Proceeds of Crime Act 2012.
By granting the application, which was filed by the UK’s National Crime Agency, the money would be held in the custody of the court until April 5, 2016.
PREMIUM TIMES gathered that although the former minister did not appear today in court, her mother, Beatrice Agama, and another woman, Melanie Spencer, appeared in today’s sitting.
Reports also said a separate application was also made against Ms. Agama for the seizure of an undisclosed amount of money.
PREMIUM TIMES learned that there were indications the money seized by the court was found recently with Mrs. Alison-Madueke as the National Crime Agency applied for the seizure within 48 hours.
PREMIUM TIMES had exclusively reported the arrest of Mrs. Alison-Madueke alongside four others in London on Friday, for offences related to bribery, corruption and money laundering.
An overview of the Proceeds of Crime Act says “The Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 (“POCA”) sets out the legislative scheme for the recovery of criminal assets with criminal confiscation being the most commonly used power.
“Confiscation occurs after a conviction has taken place. Other means of recovering the proceeds of crime which do not require a conviction are provided for in the Act, namely civil recovery, cash seizure and taxation powers.
“The aim of the asset recovery schemes in POCA is to deny criminals the use of their assets, recover the proceeds of crime and disrupt and deter criminality.
“Since 2010, more than £746 million of criminal assets has been seized (to 2013/14) across all four methods of recovery – a record amount.
“Over the same period, assets worth more than £2.5 billion have been frozen denying criminals access to these resources and £93 million has been returned to victims,” said a factsheet.

Politics / Cold War Between Gov. El Rufai And Vice President Osinbajo by KKessy(m): 10:27pm On Sep 17, 2015
There are indications that there is a cold war within President Buhari’s ‘adhoc’ cabinet. Sources close to the presidency say that a rift of power exists between an elected member of Buhari’s cabinet and an unofficial member.
The sources specifically say that the unhealthy power tussle is between Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and, an unofficial one, in the person of Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna state.
According to The Trent, Osinbanjo and El-Rufai got to logger heads, when the governor insulted the vice president at a meeting at the presidential villa, Aso Rock.
In a reaction to the insult, Osinbajo rebuked El-Rufai and walked out of the meeting, which President Buhari was presiding.
There are speculations that El-Rufai is widely regarded as the unofficial vice president in the Buhari administration. Anonymous sources within the Buhari administration told reporters that Buhari prefers to have ‘a fellow Northerner’ as his right-hand man.
The sources allege that Buhari did the same as the military head of state, adding that the president is uneasy with Prof Osinbajo who has been tagged “Tinubu’s boy”.
They claim that if it were in the powers of the president to appoint a vice, then certainly he would not have picked the professor as his running mate.
One source said: “The President, clearly, prefers and places more trust on El-Rufai as far as matters of governance are concerned. El-Rufai has played a key role in some of the president’s appointments. He nominated Amina Bala Zakari for appointment as the acting INEC chairman, forcing Buhari to go against Jega’s earlier decision and planted his chief of staff, who is also the founder of the Bring Back Our Girls campaign, Hadiza Bala Usman inside President Buhari’s recently constituted anti-corruption advisory committee.”
There are various online reports and speculations that Osinbajo is not regarded by El-Rufai and many other northerners within Buhari’s adhoc cabinet. They believe that the vice president is ‘just a puppet in Tinubu’s hands’.
According to a source that spoke to The Trent, an incident which took place few weeks ago buttress the fact that Nigeria’s vice president is looked down upon within the administration.
The source revealed that at a meeting in Aso Rock, Governor El-Rufai, in disagreeing with Osinbajo’s notion, raised his voice and insulted the VP. Osinbajo reportedly got upset, told El-Rufai off and told the president:
“I am an elected Vice President of this country, I will not sit here while an ordinary governor insults me in your presence. I deserve some respect.” Having said that, Osinbajo, allegedly stormed out of the meeting in rage, leaving Buhari and others present shocked.
The Kaduna governor reportedly condemned the behaviour of the vice president, demanded that Buhari did something about the disrespectful act.
However, the president in his gracefulness is said to have reacted calmly as to still the brewing tension. The source said there were emissaries sent to appease Osinbajo, but the VP would not return to the meeting unless El-Rufai rendered an apology.
As of the time of filing this report, there is still no information on the reconciliation between the two.
Meanwhile, Governor El-Rufai on Wednesday, September 16, did something that some deemed highly controversial. He ordered the shutting down of four Christian institutions, all located in Saminaka, Lere local government area of the state.
The governor, however, defended the action, stating that he shut the churches down in order to guide against violence among factions of the congregations whose leaderships’ positions sees as
“principally to preserve their personal interests with little concern for the common good, and the peace and security of Kaduna state”.

Romance / Serana Williams Lost Because Of Too Much Sex With Drake by KKessy(m): 7:49am On Sep 13, 2015
Yesterday Serena Williams lost her bid for the first Grand Slam in tennis in 27 years and many are blaming her rumoured boyfriend Drake for it. According to MTO, a British tabloid said Drake is the one to blame for Serena losing at the U.S Open to a virtually unknown player named Roberta Vinci. And it has to do with sex, plenty of it. Lol
The mag claimed that Serena and Drake were having 'too much sex' and that Serena was 'weakened' from all the 'off the court' exercise that she was doing. A person close to the tennis star is quoted as saying "Serena was exhausted from all the nightly sex sessions with Drake that went on for hours, sapping all her energy". Yeah, right! Lol
Meanwhile someone close to Serena told Hollywood Life that Serena isn’t blaming Drake for her loss. “She doesn’t blame Drake but would have rather him not have shown up till the finals,”
Unfortunately, Serena can’t turn back time and tell Drake not to show up
