Macmilla:
Please pals, I drive a 2001 accord and I have the following issues.
1. The revolution of the engine does not pass 4000r/min. When I step on the throttle, the engine speed rises but once the tachometer hits 4000r/min, the engine starts jerking and will not go higher. This is noticed both when the car is stationary and when mobile and affects me when speeding off. It drives smoothly if I don't push the engine. I have changed my spark plugs, changed fuel pump, cleaned air filter, all to no avail. Please help.

2. I noticed that if I turn my steering to extreme angle, my engine goes down and comes up again when I release it a little. Is this normal?
Please help.
It may be your idle sensory. Have the car scanned, idle sensory regulates the idle rev of your car and should disengage once in motion. It happened to me when i used to have a gallant 2001.

luvinhubby: Your steering rack is leaking & looses pressure.
May need to change it.
Since I bought the car over 16 months ago, I have not topped the power steering fluid nor any fluid at that. They are all above minimum

Also, check the tie rods smiley

It feels like the steering has a gap. When you slightly turn the steering, it frees up then stiffens then frees like there is sumtin hooking in the steering rack.

Can anyone refer a good Honda specialist in lagos. I need to replace all my suspension parts. My 08 accord is starting to feel sloppy. I had an issue with handling earlier this year and my mechanic replaced the front bushings but it hasn't fixed the problem. The car still turns randomly over little bumps.

Car TalkRe: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by klipse: 11:48am On Sep 23, 2014
Hi nlanders, I recently changed my rear brake pads. Now i hear a hissing sound while driving coming from the rear. Each time a park the car, I can smell the brakes badly like burnt clutch. I drive a 2k8 honda accord.

I also need to change my rear shocks, it rattles the dashboard when i go over bumps.

Thanks alot guys especially chillex8 and CityNG.

I went into the car alignment shop at bridgestone Ikoyi. Heard they were good so i went (cost me 5grand ooo). They used some kind of light instrument to align both front wheels and front to rear wheels. They recommended I change my tyres, said I may have weak tyre walls, whatever that means.
But the car rides alot better now. So i guess i'm in line for 2 new tyres, any recommendations on this? Bridgestone offered me theirs for N61.5 grand a piece imagine!!! cry I am currently running on 4 michelin tyres all follow come, haven't changed any.

Thanks once again.
Car TalkRe: Bad Tie Rod Or Front Shocks 2008 Accord by klipse(op): 6:54am On Jul 12, 2014
I had my lower arms changed, the flat bushings were busted. I also changed the stabilizer rods. @chillex8 the car's handling has greatly improved, but I can still feel it swerve a little bit. Its still not as confirm and precise as it used to be. While the mechanic worked, I noticed that my two front tyres had worn alot along the inside arc as in real bad like a k-leg. Is this a toe issue?

@CityNG how can the toe be adjusted and where can I take it for adjustment?
Car TalkRe: Bad Tie Rod Or Front Shocks 2008 Accord by klipse(op): 7:39pm On Jul 07, 2014
chillex8: Get a complete lower arm+ rubber bushing for your front wheels....

That is the culprit.

Thank me later..
Wow. I had changed the driver's side lower arm in November but I ddnt change any bushings. So those this mean my tie rods and shocks are still ok? You sound like you've had a similar problem too. Thanks a bunch really.

Hello guys, I recently noticed that my accord 2008 keeps pulling to the left or right. When I brake it randomly swerves, I have to hold the steering tightly to keep the car from changing lanes. My mechanic says I have to change my front shocks while another said its my tie rods. Please help, I dnt want to waste hard earned money changing the wrong parts. What can be the problem, its so bad that I have to move below 60km/hr on third mainland bridge.

yungboss: go to a good shop, examine all your tires for evenness, some of the tyres may be bad, it has happened to me in the past...especially since this car was newly bought, it is possible the sellers replaced the good tired with expired/bad ones.
What tyre brand do you recommended and where can i get them in Lagos. R17 wheels.
Car TalkRe: Honda Accord '08 model (Evil Spirit) Swerves When I Go Over Uneven Roads by klipse(op): 8:33am On Nov 19, 2013
sultaan: first thing you have to know is if the car was a badly rebuilt salvage.

then check your alignment by driving on a straight levelled road, take your hands off the steering and see if the car wanders away from straight line and your steering should be straight when driving straight.

After the initial test you will have to jack up each wheel and wiggle each with your hands to check for movement and loose part
I performed those test, it doesn't wander on level road, but if the road slants it wanders in that direction. I have jacked the ride up and wriggled like hell on each tire but the isn't a slack, its firm.

I suspect the tie rods, cos when i brake it turns my steering wheel. The car isn't accidented.

Hello guys. I drive a 2008 accord evil spirit. Recently it i noticed that it swerves randomly when i go over uneven roads or dips like asphalt folds. I had the ball joints and tie rods changed but it still feels loose and harder to control at speeds above 80km/hr. Someone said it is "steer bump" problem. The car runs very beautifully on smooth roads and on gallops i dnt hear any noises like bad suspensions etc. But it keeps swerving randomly on braking too.
Car TalkRe: Honda Accord '08 model (Evil Spirit) Swerves When I Go Over Uneven Roads by klipse(op): 6:01pm On Nov 18, 2013
car-doctor:
Check to see if your anti-roll bar has been removed or still in position. Some stooopid mechanics remove the stabilizer bar in the belief that it doesn't serve any particular function and I've seen it so many times.

The stabilizer bar is a part of an automobile suspension that helps reduce the body roll of a vehicle during fast cornering or over uneven roads. It connects the left and right wheels together through short lever arms linked by a torsion spring bar. A stabilizer bar increases the suspension's roll stiffness—its resistance to roll in turns, independent of its spring rate in the vertical direction.

A stabilizer bar is intended to force each side of the vehicle to lower, or rise, to similar heights, to reduce the sideways tilting (roll) of the vehicle on curves, sharp corners, or large bumps. With the bar removed, a vehicle's wheels can tilt away by much larger distances causing the car to swerve away from the line of travel.

Car-Doctor.
Thanks alot! but how do I identified my anti-roll / stabilizer bar? If it is still there how do I verify it is in good condition.?

Thanks ikenna. Does alignment also cause the swerving over uneven roads? On smooth roads it drives beautifully but on a road that has folds like 3MB it pulls randomly.

Car TalkHonda Accord '08 model (Evil Spirit) Swerves When I Go Over Uneven Roads by klipse(op): 10:57am On Nov 17, 2013
Hi Nlanders. I just got an accord 08 less than 2 mnths ago. I noticed that it is really difficult to control at speeds higher than 80km. And when i go over dips and uneven road parts it swerves/pulls the steering to the direction of the bump. Also sometimes while braking i feel it pulling to the right. I have an infiniti fx35 and it rides alot better i dnt have to over concentrate with two hands on the wheel when driving on 3rd mainland bridge lol. My mechanic claims to have changed the lower ball joints and tie rods and it felt better but after a 3 day parking cos i travelled it started again. It feels like driving a car that has a mind of its own. Always swerving randomly.

Please any suggestions? Thanks
