Please how do I use it correctly?

Vacuum the fuel tank from the evap line, does it hold pressure? If it does not find the leak.

Is it not supposed to indicate a CEL if it doesn't hold vacuum? I scanned using ODB II scanner and it says 02 sensor: Incomplete and Evaporative Sys: Incomplete but no CEL lighted.

So I had an electrical guy correct the cooling fan and now the fan comes on only on thermostat and spins for some seconds then switches off just like my honda. I observed that it gets to 96 degrees and then the fan comes on cooling it to about 92 degrees. But it still consumes fuel though its a lot better now.

I still suspect that the odor of petrol has a big part to play. The smell is still strong ooo. Abeg help, I want to travel with the car.
Car Talk / Re: Help! My Toyota Matrix 04 Consumes Excessive Petrol! by klipse: 8:05am On Dec 07, 2016
Thanks. If its any help, I just checked the car's temperature when fully warmed up and it reads 85 degrees. Is this good, is the thermostat bad?
Car Talk / Re: Help! My Toyota Matrix 04 Consumes Excessive Petrol! by klipse: 9:45pm On Dec 06, 2016
The mech checked the fuel pump and its not leaking. Also I noticed that the fan is connected directly. How do I check if the thermostat has not been removed?

deportivo I'm sorry about that. as for the fan, both fans are directly connected. they start working immediately I start the. engine. Honestly I kn9w about the issue of direct fans and it implication on fuel supply. but I still chose to partially disregard it. this is because initially I wholeheartedly believed this theory. but because I jave a very close person that uses camry like mine, he uses his car with the two fans directly connected and he never experience this high fuel consumption, thouhh I can't say whether his car is working at optimum. one thing I forgot to add to my postnwas that I usually perceived fuel odour while driving I never see any drop of fuel on. from the car but I do experience it especially when I fire and when I park the car in hot weather

I have the exact same problem, the mech connected the fan directly and i also percieve fuel odor and it also drinks more fuel when I drive at high speeds! Exactly the same.
Car Talk / Re: Help! My Toyota Matrix 04 Consumes Excessive Petrol! by klipse: 9:30pm On Dec 06, 2016
I forgot to mention that when I get to speeds of 100km/hr and above, the fuel level drops really fast. I thought at highway speeds, the car is supposed to consume less fuel?

Car Talk / Help! My Toyota Matrix 04 Consumes Excessive Petrol! by klipse: 9:28pm On Dec 06, 2016
Hi guys, recently I noticed that my wife's toyota matrix started consuming a lot of petrol and you can smell petrol odor inside the car and also outside the car just around the fuel tank. This happens only while driving or immediately you park. I thought maybe it's a leak but the mech has inspected the pipes and can't find any leaks. Iv had the air filter blown clean, serviced the injectors and cleaned the plugs. I also swapped fuel tank cap with a friend's corolla and still the odor persists. The exhaust was leaking initially but this has long been fixed.

No error codes relating to this shows up, the only error code is a System Voltage Malfunction which flashes infrequently. Iv scanned using my OBD II scanner and I only says O2 sensor incomplete.

I suspect that the cause of the high consumption is the strong petrol odor. Please help!

I bought the switch for 5k and bought the injector body for 15k.The parts are cheaper in Ladipo though but once you do this two things your problem will disappear. I am not sure about the check engine light cos mine is permanently on now. Am tired of paying for scans and i really dont care about it again.

Replace those two parts and you are good.

Hi, yesterday I actually just replaced the complete throttle head (black switch inclusive) and had the TPS re-calibrated and this cleared my check engine light. Now it runs smooth again grin grin grin yay!!

Everything cost me 25K. Thanks alot for assisting, appreciate.

did he touch the MAP sensor ? especially if the thinner got contact with MAP sensor

No he just cleaned the throttle head and the 4 injectors
Car Talk / Re: Help! 2008 Honda Accord Has High Idle @1500rpm by klipse: 11:00pm On Feb 01, 2015
Well the mechanic said he did the following:

1. Changed my plugs (9k for four of them)
2. Cleaned the throttle head (that is where the air intake hose from the air filter joins) he said he did not remove the head just cleaned the area with thinner.
3. Serviced the four injectors, said he removed them and flush them, that they have 12 holes unlike the usual 6 older models have. Said he made sure the were spraying well then coupled them back

I noticed that some fluid (maybe fuel leak was on the first injector even after a long drive which heat from the engine should have had it evaporated, didn't check the others). Could it mean the seals on the injectors are bad due to removing and cleaning with thinner?

This same thing happened to my 2009 Honda accord. I allowed a mechanic clean my injector head and he messed up my car. The idle went up and my car started consuming fuel and I found it hard to reduce my speed or slow down..the would push forward eachtime. I tried the idle re-learn it didnt work I went to oyingbo and had the black switch on the Injector head changed..the problem resolved but the check engine light is still on. I have tried all forms of scanning, the check engine light will dusappear onlybto reappear after few days. Change the black switch/sensor on the injector mouth or get a new injector head..the idle will normalize but as for the check engine light I have resigned my fate . Do not allow anyone clean your injector again.

Exactly the same issue i am having now. It pushes forward even when i am braking. And its consuming plenty fuel. I disconnected the battery and reconnect after 10secs which cleared the check engine light but it came back on. Please how much did you pay for the injector head black switch?

Thanks, I had to drive out to buy groceries and on my way back the check engine light came on. Now I couldn't perform the idle relearn plus i have a check engine light...what could be worse now. Did it come on due to the high idle? Can you recommend someone i can meet today to scan and fix this issue, i will be on the road to ibadan next week.

Hi Nlanders,

I had my injectors cleaned and changed my 4 plugs. My mechanic said he cleaned the injector head with thinner and applied oil treatment to stop a tampering sound from the engine. Now my car drives quieter but the idle is high. around 1500 to 1800 on cold start and drops to 1200 rpm.

How can I reduce the idle to the factory default at 700? I read stuff online and it said I have to perform the idle re-learn procedure, what is that?

Car: honda accord 2008, 4cyl
Thanks

Complete lower arm 100k, wow, i rather order the oem part myself than pay that huge sum only for them to install a china replica worth 15k or less. That arm consist of 3 bushings and replaceable at not more than 15k both. You only need the complete arm if its bent or damaged from an accident. The ball joint is the point of concern which you must be weary of fakes that could pull off or break. Thats why i go for tokumbo instead.

Disc resurfacing should not be up to 8k.

Check the signature of the op of this thread for his website and contact.

Really! Thanks, was already planning to take the car to them tomorrow. Thanks!

Just got my Honda suspension check result from an auto workshop in lagos. This are the results:

1. Complete lower arm - 100,000
2. Front disc resurfacing - 8,000
3. Front brake pads - 12,500
4. Balancing and alignment - 4,000

The vehicle is a honda accord 2008, 2.4L 4cyl.

Please where can I get the named parts and how much are they? I know the auto workshop is overpriced.

Thanks
