Sometimes it could be very difficult to throw away that beauty product that you love so much, especially when you spend a fortune to buy it. But at some point one has to let go because your favourite product may have become the home of bacteria. Typically drugs have expiry dates printed on them but the average beauty product does not. Here's the truth; All beauty products actually do expire, and when they do, they could cause you some skin disaster such as breakouts, irritations, burns and worse case scenario an infection. Most often bad beauty products are quickly identified by changes in it's look, texture or smell. MASCARA/EYE-LINERS It's very important that you identify when it's going bad because mascaras and eyeliners are the closest makeup product to the eyes. Both are usually either in a tube or container, so it could actually breed bacteria. When they go dry, NEVER attempt to add water to it to revive it.....It's dry means it needs to be thrown away. FOUNDATION & CONCELAERS All Foundations actually contain a proportion of water and bacteria thrives well in it. An unusual smell or change in the original colour of the foundation is an instant giveaway. POWDER & BLUSH These can be used for a much longer time since they lack water, however a few powders may contain some amount of water from additives such as natural extracts may have been added to the powder. This means you can't let your guard down. LIPSTICK / GLOSS / PENCILS They could last for a long time but the moisture content is favourable to germs as well. Since this goes on your lips and sometimes gets licked when eating or drinking, it's better to be safe than sorry. EYESHADOW Sine they actually lack water just like powders, ideally they should last long. But since it's in steady contact with the eyes, the risk is quite high. Generally it's advisable to protect your beauty products from moisture, pay attention to changes in appearance, smell, texture and most of all remain BEAUTIFUL & HEALTHY! http://simplyomata..com/2015/07/makeup-expiry-are-beauty-products-meant.html |
Beauty lovers, brace yourself for the latest makeup trend of all time.....it's called CLOWN CONTOURING. As in, you actually contour, highlight and achieve perfect look by first looking like a clown....literally. YouTube beauty vlogger Esther Isabel Amado Romo whose known as BellaDeLune on Youtube contoured and highlighted her face like a clown but blended it away from camera. It seemed like a lot of makeup.....but indeed she transformed into the beautiful after. And that's how the clown contouring was born.....now the beauty world and internet is going crazy over it. It's official.....Contouring is the new magic! Other makeup artists are doing their own version of the #clownmakeup.....see more photos on my blog http://simplyomata..com/2015/07/clown-contouring-new-beauty-trend.html

To all the Urban Decay Fans (myself included)......another NAKEDEyeshadow palette collection called NAKEDSmoky was recently released and it retails for $54. The new release gives an extra smoky , sultry and more dramatic eye shadow collection. Like I always say....smoky eyes is just here to stay....at least for now, until some new beauty trend takes over. In my opinion, this palette looks Smok'n Gorg'ariffic! #fightingtemptations.....Life of a makeup artist! Anyways I Love UD! Any day, Any time! More photos of the palette here.... http://simplyomata..com/2015/07/urban-decay-naked-smoky-eyeshadow.html http://simplyomata..com/2015/07/urban-decay-naked-smoky-eyeshadow.html

According to Lupita's hair/beauty tip, When you go #glamping and you forget your spray bottle, an iron can come in very handy," She added the hashtag "dontturniton" (if you turn it on, OYO is your case o.....lol) Apparently, she forgot the water spray bottle for her hair and her afro felt dry. So the sprinkler of the unplugged iron served as the spray bottle....hmmm quite resourceful though...but quite scary too! http://simplyomata..com/2015/07/lupita-nyongo-steams-her-hair-with.html To all the 'Naachi' (natural hair) ladies will you try this?

Hello Beautiful, UK based Makeup Artist LISA STYLE commented on my blog post, on Makeup Tips for Oily Skin. She shared a link on the comment section on makeup tips for the office/workplace. I found the article very useful and I know you would too, so I decided to share with you after-all there's LOVE in sharing! #winks. Workplace is a professional place and it is important that you keep it in mind while you wear your makeup. You need to look competent and beautiful at the same time. -Your makeup should make you look a strong and hard working woman. - You have to balance a proper makeup which will make you look stylish in a natural way with less makeup. -Office makeup should be long lasting so that you don’t need a retouch. It should not be time consuming as it is a daily process. -Your office is not the place to try a lot of shades on your eyes. Keep your eyes simple with neutral look. -For your lips choose neutral shades of tinted lip gloss which should be delicate enough for the office. You may choose shades like pink, peach, light brown or any other warm colors according to your skin tone. -Nails are also a subject of fashion accessory, but it is time to say good bye to nail arts. Choose a light shade that goes with your everyday clothing. Don’t grow your nails too big, keep them neat and manicured. -Now it is time do hairstyle, try something simple and new every day. A different hairstyle will give you a new look every day. You must choose your hair style according to your outfit and your makeup. -Now it is time do hairstyle, try something simple and new every day. A few weeks ago, I received my NAKED2 eye-shadow palette; I am so excited to share my review with you. It's always been my wish to have this palette. Typically, I like to mix up brands and try new products but I still felt this product was overhyped. Each time I see a makeup job done using any NAKED eye-shadow palette or I read reviews by makeup artists or on their Urban Decay (UD) website....the urge to buy it revisits me....finally I gave in....deep sigh....o well ! life of a makeup artist! See my review here: http://simplyomata..com/2015/03/eyeshadow-crush-alert-urban-decay.html Please share your thoughts on URBAN DECAY NAKED2 EYESHADOW PALETTE review and if you have used it? Ada stopped by to get her brows done and to get a makeover as well. In Ada's words, Omata you know I am not a makeup person, I want something wow! Ada wasn't kidding o, she came with her own MAC Dark Side Amplified lipstick......in my mind, i'm like this is serious! I must wow her today...lol. So, even though it was her first time fixing individual false lashes, she was very open to it, remained calm and very expectant...for a first timer I was very surprised #brave child.... although she blinked like 100 times per second......lol....but she was ditamynnned! For the makeover I decided to give her metallic shimmery eyes and complement it with MAC dark side amplified lipstick for the lips. See more pictures here http://simplyomata..com/2015/03/ada-in-metallic-shimmery-eyes-and-dark.html [img][/img]

When it comes to facial makeup, it's all about the eyes; attention, emotion, confidence, all radiates from the eyes. The eyes are very important when connecting with people, which makes eye-shadow application very key. Black smokey eyes is one that comes with undivided attention, it is dramatic and connects instantly with anyone. The key to getting black smokey eyes done the right way is blending. Black smokey eyes is timeless, versatile, gives all the attention you seek and leaves you looking beautiful at any time T. Check out the products I used to create the look and the before/after photos http://simplyomata..com/2015/03/get-all-attention-black-smokey-eyes.html |
There are multiple ways to apply a 2-coloured eye-shadow. It all depends on the effect you are trying to create; simple or dramatic. In applying eye-shadow the shape of your eye is a very important factor to consider. When applying two different colours of eye-shadow, selecting contrasting colours does the trick. Contrasting colours such as black and white, silver and blue, gold and brown, pink and purple, orange and brown, purple and black, yellow and green, etc work well together. If you are just starting to use makeup or you are used to one-coloured eyeshadow and you want to try more than one colour , this approach will guide you to doing it skillfully well. Check out this tutorial here: http://simplyomata..co.uk/2015/03/how-to-apply-2-coloured-eye-shadow.html |
