Webmasters5 Easy Steps To Get Complaints Resolved Via Social Media by KoboUP(op): 12:48pm On Apr 24, 2016
Social media can be used to do a lot of things today including to complain and get the complaint resolved. Twitter is one of the best interactive networks to use to get a quick response especially as many organizations now have a strong Social Media presence.

With the versatility of social media, some users still have problems with making complaints and having them resolved.

1. Contact official channels

All serious organization own a website. On these websites, you can get the contact information of the company. Using the contact info, you can either call or send a mail. If you do not get a response or get an unsatisfactory response, you can take it to social media.

2. Check their reply speed on twitter

Despite the fact that some businesses have Twitter or Facebook accounts, they may not be active and may take them forever to reply to your complaints. Hence, before you send a tweet, you should check how quick they respond to complaints and if they actually resolved it.

3. Send them a direct message

If you are not happy with their response offline, it is time to take it online. You can send them a direct message whether their handle is active or not. If you do not get a favourable response, you should take it public.

4. Tweet publicly and politely

Responsible businesses prevent crisis rather than fanning it. The direct message may be futile but the public tweet will not. So, you send a series of tweets featuring your complaints. Do not forget to tag some the service companies and influencers that can help you retweet the message to their followers. At this juncture, do not be surprised at how swift they will pacify you. Social media further cement the saying that that the customer is always right. Remember, do not use abusive words while tweeting.

5. Thank them when complaint is resolved

Most customers do not do this. When you are eventually satisfied with their reply, it will be nice to send a tweet appreciating their response and if their offer you an incentive to pacify you, you should also mention it in the tweet.

Webmasters13 Mistakes Most Online Business Make by KoboUP(op): 12:09pm On Apr 24, 2016
1. Undervaluing what you’re selling.

Whether you’re selling a product or service, set the price at what it needs to be to make a worthwhile profit.

Cynthia Salim, the founder and CEO of Citizen’s Mark, a line of ethically-sourced professional blazers for women, set the starting price for her product at $425 after considering the labor and material costs for her line. “The price is what it needs to be,” Salim says. Patel also points out that “as your business evolves continue to adjust your price points.”

2. Waiting too long to launch a product/service

When you start blogging or podcasting to build an audience, it’s easy to get stuck on the content “hamster wheel” for months or years without ever offering something for sale.

There are a few reasons this happens.

Some people are waiting for some magic audience size “1,000 subscribers” or maybe “10,000 visitors” or whatever your number might be.

Some people just can’t find the time to blog or podcast or make videos AND to build a product at the same time. It’s tough.

Some people simply talk themselves out of creating a product because they’re afraid no one will buy it. They don’t want to fail after putting in so much time creating content.

Whatever the reason, this is a fatal trap. If you’re building a business, you need to address the biggest risk head-on. The biggest risk you’ll face as a business is in creating something no one will pay for.

Plus, you need practice at building and launching products. Your first one might not be all that good. The sooner you put something out there, the closer you get to sustainable revenue.

3. Focusing too much on the little stuff.

“First, you need to get your business off the ground,” says Steve Tobak, founder of Invisor Consulting, a business strategy firm, and author of Real Leaders Don’t Follow: Being Extraordinary in the Age of the Entrepreneur. While this directive may seem obvious, new business owners can get really bogged down by the details. Don’t do this.

By getting sidetracked focusing on things like how your business cards look or the design of your logo, founders are wasting valuable time. Instead, concentrate on tasks that will help propel your business to the next level.

4. Not listening to customers

How do you know if the problem you solve is important enough?

Listen to your customers. Really listen to them.

Don’t just listen to the customers who provide validation. Listen to the ones who ask for refunds or buy your product but don’t use it. Listen to the people who tell you they won’t buy, and find out why.

Don’t just pay lip service to your customers. You don’t have all the answers, they do. There’s a reason why “the customer is always right,” because without customers you don’t have a business.

5. Ignoring customer service.

With so many of our business transactions happening over the Internet, it’s easy to forget that customers are people who are way more likely to return to your website if they have a good experience.

“Make sure you have some way of interacting with the people visiting your site,” Tobak says. “Whatever domain -- through live chat, survey, email or phone.”

Also, monitor social-media sites for brand sentiment and check out review sites like Yelp to see who isn’t happy with his or her experience and reach out.

6. Choosing a topic you don’t care about

Whatever you choose to focus your business on, you’re going to need deep subject knowledge, fresh creativity, and unwavering stamina.

There will be competition who cares more about the topic than you do. How can you compete if the gap between your love of a topic and your competitors’ is wide?

This doesn’t mean your business has to be your #1 “passion” or life’s work (most of us don’t have one single passion in life), but don’t make things impossible by choosing something you don’t care about.

If you love your topic, stamina won’t be an issue. If you love your topic, creativity will flow, and influence will be easier to build.

7. Spreading yourself too thin on social media.

When you’re starting off with marketing and building your brand, test out one or two main social audiences where you know your audience is and can build a customized audience with a small budget. Don’t blow your advertising budget at the start.

As a general rule, Facebook and Pinterest tend to be better for product sales. LinkedIn is a better field for a business personality trying to build his or her own brand, explains Widmer. LinkedIn is also a good place for repurposing content.

8. Starting with vastly wrong expectations

This won’t be easy, and it won’t be quick.

Building a successful business is a massive undertaking. You probably can’t do it while traveling the world. If you have a full-time job, it will be much, much harder.

If your plan involves four-hour workweeks, or if your timeline is measured in weeks or months, you will probably fail.

These are the hard truths that people rarely talk about. Overnight successes don’t exist. Your original plan will probably have to be completely re-written, maybe multiple times.

Ask yourself: will building this business still be worth it if it takes years to get there? What if building the business is harder and more stressful than your current job?

Talk to some entrepreneurs who have achieved something close to what you want to achieve. Ask them what it really took. Ask them about stress and timelines and giving up. Ask them not to sugarcoat it. Really listen. Then ask yourself if you’re prepared for your own version of that.

9. Spending too much time thinking and not enough doing

Not much to say here that isn’t perfectly summed up in this quote:

Genius is one percent inspiration, ninety-nine percent perspiration.
-Thomas Edison

If your ratio of thinking-to-doing is anything less than 80% doing, think again do more.

As Chase likes to say, entrepreneurs have two modes, CEO mode and worker-bee mode. In a one-person business, you have to be both.

10. Going it alone

The only reason my business exists today is because other entrepreneur friends wouldn’t let me quit. Seriously, I tried to throw in the towel and start over with something else, but they wouldn’t let me. They talked me out of it.

No one can succeed in business alone. You need people to make it work. Your customers are people, your suppliers are people, your service providers are people.

Most importantly, you need support from other entrepreneurs who are at similar stages as you are, and from others with more experience.

The more connected you become with other entrepreneurs, the more normal your quest becomes. You’ll no longer feel crazy or alone, and you’ll realize that we all face obstacles just like you’re facing.

The entrepreneurs who talked me out of quitting were part of a little group that met weekly to hold each other accountable. It didn’t cost any of us a thing, other than an hour of our time each week, but it turned out to be the most valuable resource I ever used in my business.

Reach out to another entrepreneur or two, and ask them to meet weekly. Share your struggles and goals, and review your progress each week. This simple process is so powerful.

11. Confusing “blog” with “business”

A blog is an incredible platform for sharing your ideas, connecting with people and growing an audience. The same is true of podcasting, YouTubing, or any other place you might publish content for free.

Giving away free content isn’t a business. It’s a tool for building influence.Don’t count on turning that influence into sponsorships or advertising dollars. You’ll need a more direct plan for earning an income if you want your blog or podcast to pay off.

12. Underestimating the obsession and drive it takes to succeed.

You’ve read a lot about the importance of work/life balance -- forget about it. (At least for the first year or two.)

“Don’t worry about time,” Tobak says. “Big ideas do not come when you are trying to manage every minute of your time. They don’t come when you are multitasking. They come when you are focused on one thing. Let everything else fade to black.”

13. Thinking that everything is one size fits all.

Just because a product or strategy has worked for one company doesn’t mean it will work for you. Have a healthy degree of skepticism about what you read and see successful elsewhere, Patel recommends. If you can test your product using minimum financial and resource risk, then do so.

Business3 Effective Business Skills They Don't Teach You In School by KoboUP(op): 11:27am On Apr 19, 2016
The fact is that a formal education will bring you up-to-speed on the latest develops, and history, of your chosen field. In addition, your dedication to post-secondary education will help you to create business networks that it will take decades to re-create without the college / university environment.

Regardless of your personal opinion of formal education’s role in business success and entrepreneurial endeavors, here are three skills that you will not learn in school but are crucially important to your success as an entrepreneur / founder.

1. Communicating
Entrepreneur are only as successful as their ability to explain their vision. Communicating with other people is likely the most important skill of any entrepreneur. Knowing when to communicate -- and when not to -- is the difference between the business have’s and have-nots.

Your communication skills will be needed in every aspect of your job. You will have to inspire your employees with your words, build confidence with your investors and explain your actions to your shareholders.

Now, make sure that you are not committing the worst sin of communicating. I have consulted for CEO’s in the past who fancied themselves as great communicators, however, what they really did was run over people and talk everyone around them into submission.

I have seen executives who waste hours of time over-talking in meetings. They feel like they have to be heard and over-explain everything. They do not let others get heard and, as a result, end up creating a suppressive environment, where other people’s thoughts never get heard.

Do yourself a favor and find a good mentor or executive coach to help you do a personal check and work on increasing your communication skills. You can never be a good enough communicator.

2. Multitasking
As an entrepreneur, you are going to be expecting to know everything, about every part, of your endeavor. In the early days, you will be the “chief cook and bottle washer." As your enterprise grows, so to will your personal tasks.

In the early days, you will have to run the company and take care of shipping / receiving. As your business grows, your tasks will change, and you will still have a multitude of them. If you are lucky enough to get into the big leagues, you will eventually get to manage your business and your shareholders at the same time.

Regardless of the stage, you will need to be involved in many different things at the same time. You have no choice -- so get good at it! I have never met a successful big-league founder or CEO who didn’t have a great handle on time management and keeping important things -- like family and health -- in perspective. Again, if you are struggling in this area, hire a coach or consultant to help you.

3. Attention to detail
We’ve all heard the old saying -- “The devil is in the details." I personally believe it would be better to say, “Your ultimate success is in the details." Managing details is likely the most important skill of any successful business person.

People who are weak in this area will tend to ignore the details. They will categorize them as “little things." But if you let enough “little things” build up, they will turn into a “big thing." Big things kill businesses! As the primary of your own business, you need to become an expert (and example to others) of how to deal with the details.

Examples of important details are reviewing, and understanding, your daily financial reports, emailing your key people with little “thank-yous” for a job well done, managing email in general and about 1000 more things.

If you are struggling in any of these areas, you already know it. Let this little piece be your slap in the face. Your company, and employees, are depending on you to make the venture successful. The fastest way to improve these skills is to hire one of the many awesome management consultants or coaches that are available.

Webmasters5 Simple Steps To Writing Effective Emails by KoboUP(op): 4:03pm On Apr 16, 2016
It is a matter of both email etiquette and best practices.

Here are five key ways to improve your email etiquette, get your emails read, and spark action.

1. Keep it short.
I believe it was Mark Twain (correction: Blaise Pascal!) who said, "If I'd had more time, I would have written you a shorter email." Regardless, keep your word count low. Just as you keep your tweets under 140 characters, keep your best emails under 150 words. (For comparison's sake, this column runs about 700 words.)
Here's a master example. If you ever have a complaint about Amazon, you're welcome to email Jeff Bezos directly, at jeff@amazon.com. If he in turn thinks it merits a response, he'll forward it to relevant employees with a single addition--a question mark--which according to author Brad Stone, prompts recipients to "react as though they've discovered a ticking bomb."

2. Be direct.
Get to the point. Delete adjectives and adverbs. It's very unnecessary to add many additional words that make your most important emails seem overly lengthy. (See what I mean?) Otherwise, you risk "tl;dr."
If you can't follow rule No. 1 and keep your emails short, at least include a brief summary at the top, and indicate whatever action is required. (In the Army, we called this a "BLUF" statement--bottom line, upfront.

3. Reply quickly.
Last year, Snapchat CEO Even Spiegel tweeted some of the first emails he'd traded with Mark Zuckerberg before turning down a reported $3 billion takeover offer. Most interesting from these is how short and fast these introductory messages were.
Zuckerberg's first 46-word email came at 6:23 p.m.; Spiegel replied a half hour later with 19 words (plus an emoticon). Zuckerberg replied again with 14 words just three hours later. Even though the deal didn't come together in the end, there's a clear lesson: When something is important, reply fast.

4. Reread before sending. And do it twice.
Speaking of emails that weren't supposed to be public, when Steve Jobs died, one of Samsung's top sales executives emailed fellow company leaders to suggest seizing the moment to attack the iPhone. Within a month, they pounced with commercials mocking people who waited in lines for new Apple products.

While it was a smart strategy, it looks a little skeevy now, which is probably why these emails are marked "Highly Confidential--Attorneys' Eyes Only." You can read them here. The lesson: Reread your emails before sending them--a task that is much easier, of course, if you've kept them short to begin with.

5. Add the address last.
You may have noticed that I have a very common name. (I'll wait here while you scroll up and look at the byline on this article.) A few years ago, I was negotiating to buy a company, it turned out that one of the top executives of the target company actually had the same name, with only a middle initial separating us. As a result, some of the people on their side of the deal kept cc'ing me by mistake on confidential emails in which they talked about their negotiating position. (I let them know, but it kept happening.)

The deal didn't work out, but it led me to learn an important lesson: Make darn sure that you double-check the addressees on any important email you send. Even better, don't address an email until you've finished reading and editing it. There's nothing like accidentally hitting the "send" button too early, and firing off your unfinished thoughts to an important business contact.

Programming5 Easy To Use Tools To Help You Build Your Own Website by KoboUP(op): 8:09pm On Mar 19, 2016
The era of relying heavily on website designers to design and build a website has significantly declined. This is partly due to the fact that there are several online tools that can now help you build a website with little cost. Hence, rather than being dependent on website programmers, you can save some cash by building a decent-looking web page with little or no knowledge.

1. WordPress
WordPress is arguably the most popular website builder in the world. You can either use the free version or the paid one. Anyone you decide to use, there are many templates, themes, and plugins that can be downloaded for free or purchase at a premium one. WordPress is very easy to learn and you can design it yourself with the array of templates.

2. Shopify
For those in the e-commerce industry that don't want to spend money on a website, Shopify is the perfect tool to use. It can help build an online store with its handful of professional template designs which are either paid or free. Of course, the paid template will have a better effect and output so it is advisable to use the paid version which is inexpensive.

3. Wix
WordPress may be popular but Wix is another website builder that can compete favourably. Wix is used by over 70 million businesses and individuals in different parts of the globe. It also has thousands of site building tools you can select from and you can customize your URL by paying a little fee for it.

PhonesKeeping Your Iphone Safe And Protected: Top 5 Tips by KoboUP(op): 7:28pm On Mar 19, 2016
The iPhone is arguably the most sophisticated phone in the world. It is stylish, innovative and avant-garde. The more iPhone’s are widely used, the more hackers manipulate ways to attack this hack-proof device so it’s important to take certain steps to protect your iPhone from hackers.

1. Use a PIN or fingerprint security

The features of an iPhone are limitless. From online banking to emails, browsing, shopping, and chatting, it performs all these functions. It is, therefore, quite risky to leave it unprotected because locking your phone will guard your sensitive data and apps against unauthorized access. You can use a PIN or fingerprint for the security of your iPhone.

2. Activate Self destruct

You can now use your iPhone to erase your data if you think someone is attempting to break into your phone. You simply enable the 'erase data' function. Your data will be immediately wiped if the person attempting to illegitimately access your phone make more than 10 wrong guesses either with their fingerprint or PIN.

3. Turn off notifications

Notification does not only expose you to hackers but also to prowling eyes who cannot mind their business but prefer to focus their eyes on your phone. To prevent your sensitive notifications from being seen by just anyone, it is advisable to turn it off. It is better to be safe than sorry.

4. Disable Siri

The Speech Interpretation and Recognition Interface (Siri) allows you to speak to your iPhone. The interface can answer questions, make recommendations and perform actions by delegating requests to a set of web services according to Wikipedia. If your Siri is off, an attacker that finds will be unable to communicate or interact with your phone. If it is on, it is highly possible for it to reveal private information. As a rule of thumb, turn off Siri.

5. Type yourself

You will be excited if your form is auto-filled. It saves time. In this case, you do not need to type anything yourself except correcting mistakes. However, it is not always advisable to use auto-fill because if your iPhone is stolen or hacked, it will not be difficult for them to get your details.
This is because your emails, card details, and forms will be auto-filled which means that your private information is in the hands of unknown persons. This information can even be used against you. Hence, try as much as possible to type your details yourself.

WebmastersCrowdfunding: Here's What You Need To Know by KoboUP(op): 3:51am On Mar 11, 2016
Crowdfunding is a means of gathering funds from a diverse group of investors using Internet technology, In developed markets, crowdfunding is swelling the ranks of early-stage entrepreneurs and bolstering the pipeline of enterprises that diversify economies and create the majority of jobs.

Before you start a crowdfunding campaign read this guide to avoid the common mistakes most entrepreneurs make.

1. Check if crowdfunding is even right for you.
Don’t underestimate the cost of crowdfunding, both in terms of human and financial resources. You never get money for free. Crowdfunding is a lot of work and expect to invest considerable time and money into creating a successful campaign. Also, don’t use crowdfunding as a last resort. If you’re in a high-risk industry or if you’re running out of cash and haven’t been able to get investors or people you know to support your project, don’t try to squeeze your last pennies out of the crowd.

2. Choose the right platform

Entrepreneurs should realistically assess how much capital can be raised from crowdfunding platforms that serve their geographic areas. Debt and equity platforms that tend to enable larger amounts of funding are often not available in many emerging markets. If an entrepreneur is best serviced by a particular instrument (e.g. debt or equity), and that instrument is not available in his/her country or region, then she/he should consider alternative sources of financing.

3. Tap into complementary resources and organizations to increase Your likelihood of success.
Business incubators and mentors can be essential sources of information and support for first-time crowdfunders. Matching funds have proven to be an effective tool that encourages local contributors to channel their funds through online platforms.

Matching funds were successfully utilized by 24-year-old Mukeli Matai of Kenya for her aquaculture startup Fishmate. Matai raised €2,678 from about 20 members of her family, triggering €6,000 from the Cheetah Fund matching program. In this case, the matching funds created a clear incentive for the Matai’s family to channel their money into an online platform. This offline-online effect helps generate success stories that, eventually, will promote a wider understanding and acceptance of crowdfunding.

4. Build trust and transparency.
People will give if they like the product, like you, and believe in the idea behind it. Being transparent and building trust with the crowd is critical for a successful campaign. People are less likely to give their money to something that seems sketchy. How will you spend the money? Who are you?

This relates to being communicative and engaging with your community during the campaign. It’s important that you’re open and present during the campaign so that people trust you and your project.

5. Learn from others.
Take time to check out other successful campaigns and see what worked well for them. Watch their videos, pay attention to the script and let yourself get inspired. But also be realistic about what you can achieve with your resources. Adapt ideas in a way that fits your budget and your target group. And remember, it’s easier to raise money for an idea that touches a lot of people. Think about your messaging and how you can make your story relevant to as many people as possible.

6. Get creative with your rewards.
Don't have a fancy product or big budget for your rewards? Invite “big givers” to a home-cooked dinner. Offer something one-of-a-kind that fits your mission or service. Also remember that the rewards can be purchased after you crowdfund, so though you don’t need this initial capital, you’ll need to factor that in in terms of what you hope to earn.

WebmastersE-mail Marketing: 5 Ways To Guarantee A Response To Your E-mail by KoboUP(op): 2:05am On Mar 06, 2016
Many of us have sent emails and waited forever for a response or reply without getting it. This is disturbing especially if it is a very important mail that requires rapid and immediate feedback.

In addition, to your mail being ignored, you are unable to call to inform them that you sent them a mail and are awaiting their response. If this is a regular occurrence whenever you send an email, this article is for you.

1. Write in simple, readable language

An email is not a prose or a poem. It does not give you the poetic license or luxury to use vocabularies that the reader has to scavenge for a dictionary to check their meanings. Rather than writing your emails like a Wole Soyinka, write like a Chinua Achebe, you will definitely get a quick and prompt response.

2. Keep it simple

Emails that are limited to 50 to 125 words or two short paragraphs have a higher percentage of being replied. You do not need to write an epistle to get your message across. You have to keep it brief because so many people are very busy and rarely have time to read long emails. Oftentimes, long emails are neglected.

3. Three to four-word subject lines

The subject is the first thing that you see when you receive an email. Therefore, the subject has to be catchy, punchy and should not be more than three to four words. Simply, ensure that you take maximum advantage of the subject.

4. Ask question

A question is an interesting way to get a quick response to your email. This will strike a conversation between the sender and the receiver. This will definitely make the receiver respond. However, the question should not be more than 2 or 3.

5. Add an opinion

Adding an opinion to your emails should be smartly done so that its purpose will be achieved. While expressing your opinion, try as much as possible to ensure that your message has a positive tone even if you are complaining about a service or product. Same goes with sending a superior an email.

Twitter is the go-to tool for building engagement and interaction with your online community. It is has become a very effective social media platform and many people and organizations cannot do without it. This is because, Twitter with its 140 characters is a powerful and reliable platform for staying connected with friends, fans, followers, customers and competitors.

Technology MarketSay Goodbye To 4G, Welcome 5G- The New Definition Of Faster Browsing by KoboUP(op): 10:34pm On Feb 26, 2016
4G is still the trend for now but its funeral is here as it will soon be replaced by 5G. In summary, 5G will leapfrog 4G thus making it irrelevant. This is an inevitable future which quite a handful of technology companies like AT&T, Verizon, and Google among others are presently spending billions of dollars to make it a reality. 5G will become the new definition of internet speed. So what does the arrival of 5G into the tech world truly mean? Innovation village identify 4 incredible ideas.

Download movies within seconds

5G will allow movie addicts to download high-definition movies in less than 10 secs. This is super fast when compared to the 8 minutes it takes 4G to perform the same download. You can see the astonishing gap. But, 5G internet will not come cheap as tech companies will have to install new towers and hardware to enable 20 gigabits per second. The 20 gigabits per second will make it possible to download a full-length in less than 5 seconds. A long way to go but like they say it is not rocket science!

Connect millions of new devices via networking

Speed may be the focus of fifth generation technology but there are other purposes it is meant for. It can connect millions of new gadgets from smartwatches to wearable technology and other Bluetooth devices. All these gadgets will be linked to your mobile phone thus simplifying the syncing process. It can also help in monitoring your devices through the use of sensors embedded in these devices. Interesting!

Uber will respond extremely fast to cab request

Uber unarguably controls the taxi industry globally. You can request for a Uber cab using their android app. If 4Ginternet is fast for you. It is not fast enough. 5G will ultimately shrink the time in which Uber cabs respond to your cab request. Minutes you can say? But considering the Lagos traffic, it may take a bit of time but the difference will be clear and noticeable.

No more complaints about internet speed

Nigerians lament about the fluctuating internet services they get from telephony companies and other service providers. Your lamentation will soon end as the 5G revelation and revolution will soon take over. You will even be awed by the speed and request Mr. 5G to slow down. But remember, 5G will not come cheap!

BusinessThe 10 Most Popular New Businesses For Entrepreneurs To Start by KoboUP(op): 12:25pm On Feb 21, 2016
Dreaming of starting a business and wondering what kind it should be? We can't answer that, but we can tell you the types of businesses other entrepreneurs are most interested in starting.
Every month, more than a million people visit Bplans and search among sample business plans for more than 500 types of businesses. And every year, Palo Alto Software, which owns the site, tracks which searches are most popular and publishes the top 10. It's a fascinating look into the types of businesses most of us dream of starting, and how those dreams have changed over time.

Top 10 business-plan searches:
1.Services
2.Restaurant, Café, and Bakery
3.Retail and Online Store
4.Medical and Health Care
5.Manufacturing
6.Nonprofit
7.Bar and Nightclub
8.Farm and Food Production
9.Wholesale and Distributor
10.Construction and Engineering
It's a no-brainer that Services tops the list, says Sabrina Parsons, Palo Alto Software CEO. "It's always the top one, because you can be a one-person business," she explains. "If someone has the skills, they are the easiest to start because they're usually not capital-intensive. You probably don't need a bank loan or other financing."

Restaurant, Café, and Bakery has stayed in the No. 2 slot for each of the past three years. "Everyone wants to do them, but I always caution people," Parsons says. "They're difficult to start, they take a lot of money, and they go out of business at a higher rate than most others."

So which industries does she recommend for new entrepreneurs? Farm and Food Production first appeared on the list at 10th place a few years ago and has been climbing ever since--it's in sixth place so far in 2015.
That makes sense, Parsons says, given growing concerns about GMOs and factory farming, and the preference for locally sourced foods. "It's an industry that's very interesting and ripe for innovation," she says.

Medical and Health Care, which has been consistently in fourth place for the past few years, is another excellent choice, Parsons says. "As an entrepreneur, if you don't have the health science or medical background, you can team up with someone who does. With the new health care laws, there are a lot of problems that need solutions. People are living longer, and there are so many baby boomers. It's the kind of business that can carry you through a recession."

Which industries are missing?
What isn't on the list is just as interesting as what is. Real Estate, for instance, once a popular industry, disappeared from the top 10 list with the Great Recession, says Parsons. It's been making a comeback, though. "I'll be surprised if it's not in the top 10 by the end of this year," she says.

And though just about all of the highest-profile entrepreneurs head technology companies, technology never makes the top 10 list for aspiring entrepreneurs on Bplans. "It really shows that entrepreneurship isn't all about building apps," Parsons notes. "If you've got a great idea, there can be good opportunities, but you need to bring that tech background to the table, and if you don't have it you'll need a partner who is a tech person.

You really need to think about the feasibility and the investment side. Will you need angel investment and venture capital? Only about 4 percent of startups in America are funded by those means. It can be a difficult, competitive landscape."

It just goes to show that the popular image of the tech entrepreneur is the exception rather than the rule, she adds. "While the Silicon Valley tech scene has produced some incredibly successful businesses that have been game changers," Parsons says, "it's really the traditional Main Street businesses that are driving economic growth."

Business9 Fastest And Most Creative Ways To Find New Customers by KoboUP(op): 12:40pm On Feb 20, 2016
As a business owner, you're no doubt aware that your client base is the lifeblood of your company. A steady stream of new customers allows you to grow your business and fulfill your company vision.

You’re eager to expand and grow your business. But, growing your customer base is much easier said than done. Attracting new customers is actually a simple and relatively inexpensive process that will deliver solid results if you follow a few basic rules:

1. Define your target audience.
Create a detailed profile of your target customers. The more segments you can identify, the more potential hosts you can approach. For example, determined that their likely customers drove certain types of cars, patronized a certain class of hair salon, belonged to a health club.

Narrow down the focus of your ideal client and avoid making broad target market statements, such as every woman, every man or all baby boomers. Few products appeal to that vast of a group of people, and overstating your market will prevent you from developing viable targeted strategies for attracting clients.

2. Leverage your existing network
Your existing network may be the best place to reach out to, as their good word of mouth will help grow your customer base.

“I’d recommend that the business develop a core group of customers that can make referrals; referrals are strong leads,” says Tim Shoemaker, who heads up Channel Sales here at Palo Alto Software. “I’d recommend that they network as much as possible within their target market. For example, if they’re a bike shop, then they should try to join as many cycling related groups as possible.”

3. Know Your Business
Thoroughly understanding your industry and having a firm knowledge of your product or service is critical to being able to attract interested clients.

When you know your product backward and forward, that fact comes through. The people who would be interested in your offerings can see how knowledgeable you are and will seek your assistance.

4. Building a “relationship map”
Tamara Nell of The Leading Niche recommends building a “relationship map,” which will match your strongest relationships with the areas where there is the greatest need for your product or service. This map will help point you in the direction of who you need to reach out to, in order to tap into potential customer bases.

“When I first started my company, I created [a relationship map] and found a partner who had the introduction to the client but not the resources to do the work,” she says. “We partnered, and The Leading Niche was founded. To this day, I continuously update my relationship map, which leads to new opportunities.”

5. Position Yourself as the Answer
Give potential clients you come into contact with a good reason to try your services, which is your first step to making them loyal customers, Provide value and establish yourself as having an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the problems they are looking to solve.

This takes the form of creating content via webinars, blog posts, guest blogging, and getting out there and physically networking with people. From all this you will start to attract a following, and as long as you have a structured sales funnel setup, you will be able to convert the followers/fans into paying customers.

6. Continue expanding your network
While relying on your existing network to expand your customer base is great, you may eventually wind up out of new leads. When you find yourself in this situation, you may need to look to expanding your network.

You can have a great idea and a great business structure, but if you do not have contacts that might be interested in helping you, it’s impossible to succeed, Attend networking events, join organizations, form partnerships, and watch your network grow..

7. Identify local businesses in the same business as you
That way, you can not only bring people in the door for your initial offer, but also increase the likelihood that they'll return to give you repeat business.

8. Offering free trials to new customers
Another practical tactic to acquiring new customers? Offer them a free trial of your product. Free trials are a great way to market, since they attract new customers, good reviews and testimonials, They also allow you to get more feedback on new products and then make improvements where needed.”

By offering free trials, you can show them the value of what you have to offer and convert them into paying returning customers. Offer great service, and you’ll likely be able to convert them into loyal customers.

9. By Building Partnerships
Teaming up with businesses that offer complementary services offers you the opportunity to take advantage of synergy, which can be very effective in building a business. For instance, if you have a company that specializes in SEO, consider teaming up with a business that builds websites.

When all is said and done, nurturing relationships, either with other business owners or customers, helps you create a client base, Beckett suggests. “Focus on building human relationships. The stronger your relationships are, the more likely your customers will be to tell their friends about you. And, the more likely they'll be to come back.”

Webmasters4 Magical Ways To Increase Page Views Of Your Web Page by KoboUP(op): 1:13pm On Feb 11, 2016
One major problem that many bloggers and e-commerce businesses encounter is how to get people to visit their website. It is a known fact that attractive pictures and awesome content alone cannot dramatically boost your page views. As a result, some startups may decide to pay for Google and web ads as an alternative to counter the low traffic. But do you know that there are other efficient ways to increase web traffic without necessarily paying a dime.

Use YouTube as much as Google

YouTube is another platform that can help stimulate your page visits. It is as good as Google and if you have good and captivating videos, it can also complement other efforts to increase traffic. Hence, do not only rely on Google, explore the advantages inherent in other new media platforms..

MORE blogging

A secret of increasing page views is to have more incoming links, which Google uses to help rank your site. When you write posts on other sites and you link back to your company site, it will enhance your SEO.

Don't ignore about email marketing.

MailChimp is a tool that allows you to create, send and email newsletters. Through the use of MailChimp, you can use it to send emails to your subscribers and other customers in your contacts. It should feature information that will encourage them to visit the website. The content can even be a Call To Action

Focus keywords

The use of keywords is another creative way to rank higher on Google. Therefore, whenever you blogging, do not forget to always use keywords. Keyword (s) is a unique word that captures the whole articles and if the word is searched, your content will pop out in the search results. Also, ensure that the keywords are limited to three to four words long.

CareerHow To Create A Wordpress E-commerce Website. Like Konga, Jumia Etc by KoboUP(op): 2:05pm On Feb 09, 2016
This guide covers exactly how to set up a WordPress ecommerce website with the WooCommerce plugin.

The WordPress platform originally began as a way to blog online. Over the years, it has evolved into a full blown “content management system” – in other words, a backend software that can “power” any type of website – including an ecommerce website.

That said, WordPress as an ecommerce platform isn’t a good fit for everyone. Here’s a brief run down of reasons it would be a good fit:
You want full control over your website
You want to easily build out other portions of your site that aren’t ecommerce (blog, pages, etc)
You don’t want the monthly & transaction fees of an integrated ecommerce platform like Shopify or BigCommerce
You want to start small and build out your site as you grow (ie, and avoid the fees while doing so)
You aren’t daunted by some technical work – ie, hearing the acronym “FTP” makes you more curious than scared (note – WordPress is built to be easy for first timers, but it’s not a click, click, done software either)

You don’t plan on having a complicated payment processing system at first (ie, you’ll be using PayPal, Amazon or Google Wallet, not processing payments on your own server). WooCommerce works perfectly fine on SSL, but again, you’ll need that expertise to implement it properly

You want a common platform where you can easily pull developers in on a project basis as you grow
WordPress will not be a good fit for you if:
You want all the hosting and technical details simply taken care of (especially speed, etc)

You are plan on having a full (ie, non-PayPal) integrated payments/inventory system right from the start without developer help (ie, you’ll be selling across platforms like eBay/Etsy and need inventory numbers to be automatically updated – WooCommerce can do this, but it can be complicated)

You want dedicated customer support that’s already paid for

You want a single bundled predictable cost of software every month

If WordPress doesn’t look like a good fit, you should check out either Shopify (see their plans here) or BigCommerce (see their plans here) for an all inclusive ecommerce platform. Note – I wrote more about choosing an ecommerce platform here and reviewed Shopify here.

Otherwise let’s dive into the guide. Or skip to:
Getting Started
WordPress Ecommerce Options
Installing Your Plugin
Setting Store Structure
Getting a Compatible Theme
General Store Settings
Setting up Product Pages
Next Steps

GETTING STARTED – INSTALLING WORDPRESS
Your absolute first step for using WordPress for an ecommerce website is to actually install WordPress on a hosting account with your domain name. Here’s my guide to setting up WordPress step by step on a hosting account if you don’t have it already.

Ecommerce sites need even more memory for PHP than a standard WordPress install since they are larger and more complex than a simple blog. Having thousands of products + thousands of visitors can add even more resource requirements to your hosting account.

If you’re starting out small (hundreds of products, low thousands of visitors), a shared linux hosting account (like the one I mentioned in the setup guide) is good, but it needs to have more than 64M of memory…preferably 256M. I recommend HostGator (see their plans here), with InMotion Hosting (see their plans here) and BlueHost (see their plans here) also being good options (I’ve reviewed each here, here, and here).

If you’re starting out big (thousands of products, many thousands of visitors), you’re going to need either a managed hosting account from a company like WP Engine (see their plans here) or a VPS hosting account from HostGator.

INTRO TO WORDPRESS ECOMMERCE OPTIONS
There are really 3 components that make a “regular” website an “ecommerce” website – product pages, shopping cart, and a checkout process.

You can add the ecommerce functionality to WordPress with a plugin. Plugins are separate pieces of software that you install and activate into WordPress that basically adds to what it can do.
In this case, we need a plugin that will create custom product pages, that will have a shopping cart functionality allowing individual visitors to add products to a cart throughout the time they are on the site, and that will sync up with a payments system to accept payments, and match those payments up with the visitors’ products purchased. Wow.

There are a lot of plugin options to turn your WordPress site into an ecommerce site, but by far and away the leader is WooCommerce by WooThemes.

It has the functionality, the ease of use, the reputation, community, and versatility to be a solid long term choice for an ecommerce plugin.

It’s the most search engine optimization-friendly ecommerce platform I’ve seen. I’m an SEO Specialist who’s worked on major brands’ platforms, and from an SEO perspective, I would love to be able to work with WooCommerce. It gets rid of most all duplicate content (a SEO plague for online stores) and has Schema markup built-in.

Plus, the company that creates it, WooThemes, has been a core part of the WordPress community for years. Since they’ve open-sourced the software…it’s not going away anytime soon.
It has support, and plenty of versatility for what you’ll need.

Quick aside – Anytime something is free, you should look for the catch. In this case, WooThemes makes money providing extensions to WooCommerce for things like advanced inventory management, direct credit card processing (ie, the free version syncs with PayPal, but not directly with your credit card processor). WooThemes also sells custom themes, which are encouraged but not required.

While there are solid alternatives like JigoShop out there, if you’re going to go WordPress for your online store – I recommend using WooCommerce for its strong developer base, app store and compatibility with a range of plugins & themes. It’s what this tutorial will focus on.

WooCommerce has a ton of options and tons of documentation. Here’s how I generally install it for clients with a focus on things that often trip up first timers. It may look daunting, but it’s really straightforward once you get a handle on the general structure.

INSTALL YOUR ECOMMERCE PLUGIN
To get started with WooCommerce, navigate to your WordPress Dashboard and Add New Plugin. Search for WooCommerce, and simply install and activate WooCommerce by WooThemes.

BusinessThe Easiest Way To Create A Wordpress Ecommerce Website by KoboUP(op): 1:53pm On Feb 09, 2016
