BlackBerry’s first Android-powered handset Priv will carry a price tag of RMB 3,999 (around ₦126000) in China, according to renowned Chinese leakster Leaksfly, who revealed the information on Weibo. The revelation came just days after BlackBerry CEO John Chen said that the device will come with a high-end price tag. “We’ll make the phone financially affordable to get, whether that’s by installments or something else,” he had said during the Code/Mobile conference last week. Last week, a lucky Redditor also got a chance to handle the Priv. He noted that the handset has a sharp screen and is thinner than the Galaxy Note5, although its 18MP camera took longer to lock focus when compared to the Galaxy phablet. The battle for your wrist is on. But what should you look for in a smartwatch? Use these tips to pick the best device for your needs and budget. From big names such as Apple and Samsung to upstarts like Pebble and Martian, dozens of companies are creating smartwatches to deliver notifications, apps and more to your wrist. Although features and designs vary, the main appeal of a smartwatch is that it can save you time. Whether you want to quickly check incoming messages or control your music, you’ll be able to glance down at your wrist instead of having to whip out and unlock your phone. Some smartwatches can even replace your phone, but most are designed as companion devices. If you want to keep better tabs on your health, a growing number of smartwatches have built-in fitness features, such as a pedometer or heart rate monitor. (The line between fitness trackers and smartwatches is definitely blurring.) How do you decide which smartwatch is right for your needs and budget? Here’s a quick guide. OS and Device Compatibility Because most smartwatches are designed to serve as companions to your smartphone, device compatibility is very important. For instance, both the Pebble and Pebble Steel use a proprietary OS but work with Android and iOS devices. The same thing goes for the Alcatel OneTouch watch. Android Wear watches — available from Samsung, LG, Sony and others — work with Android 4.3 and higher smartphones. Google makes it easy to check whether your smartphone is compatible by going to g.co/WearCheck from your smartphone browser. Android Wear does a nice job of anticipating your needs via Google Now-style cards, and the number of options has grown quickly via support for third-party apps. For instance, Mint can send you reminders on how much you’ve spent, and you can use a Walgreens Balance Rewards card in the store. Not surprisingly, the Apple Watch only works with the iPhone. Similar to Android Wear and Google Now, Apple’s wearable has a Glances feature that lets you quickly preview things like weather, upcoming events and other items, but it focuses more on fitness and social interactions. Bottom line: Don’t buy a smartwatch unless you know that it will work with your smartphone. There are some high-tech timepieces that double as phones, but those are less common. Display: E Ink or Color? There’s something that feels anachronistic (pardon the pun) about a monochrome E Ink or e-paper display on a smartwatch. But such displays provide a couple of very important benefits. First, they make it possible to read the screen outdoors without worrying about glare. econd, an E Ink screen helps save serious battery life. We’re talking about the difference between one and two days for color and five days or more for e-paper. On the other hand, smartwatches such as the Apple Watch and Samsung Gear Live let you view photos, apps and other content in full color. And while E Ink watches have a built-in backlight, color displays tend to be brighter. The trade-off is shorter battery life, though smartwatch makers are improving the devices’ efficiency. Color displays use so much power that many watches turn off their screens while they’re asleep, so you can’t even see the time without waking the device. Look for a smartwatch that continues to show the time when it’s not in use, usually at a dimmer brightness. Interface: Buttons vs. Touch On the surface, opting for a touch screen on your smartwatch would seem to be a no-brainer. After all, there’s a touch screen on your smartphone and pretty much every other gadget these days. A touch-display interface should also be easier to navigate. On the Pebble, for example, you have to do a fair amount of scrolling with the physical buttons. Nevertheless, smartwatches with physical buttons tend to be more affordable than those with touch screens. And some peope prefer the classic look of a traditional watch. It can sometimes be difficult to target items on a smaller touch display, and some of the gesture-based interfaces aren’t intuitive. The Android Wear software does a nice job of presenting card-based notifications you can easily dismiss with a swipe, but there’s a lot of swiping involved to get to other apps and options within apps. The latest update lets you switch between cards with a flick of your wrist. With the Apple Watch, Apple opted for a combo approach, offering a touch display and a digital crown on the right side. You can use the crown to quickly zoom in on content or to scroll, and the screen uses Force Touch, which knows the difference between a tap and a long press. Bottom Line: Over time, we see touch screens winning out in the smartwatch space, but if you crave simplicity and a more old-school aesthetic, physical buttons will do the trick. Design and Personalization The better smartwatches offer a choice of straps and/or the ability to swap them out for a third-party option. This is important if you want to personalize the look of your device. The Moto 360, for example, offers a standard 22-mm band. The Pebble Steel comes with two straps (leather and steel), while the original Pebble supports all sorts of 22-mm bands. The Sony SmartWatch 3 is available with a sport or steel band. The Apple Watch offers the most design options yet. It comes in two sizes and three finishes (steel, aluminum and gold), and offers six band designs. Keep in mind that comfort counts for a lot, as does the ease with which you can fasten the watch to your wrist. Though it’s versatile, the Microsoft Band is so bulky that many wearers position the display on the inside of their wrists. We would definitely avoid any smartwatches with cumbersome clasps that require too much force to open and close. Samsung and Sony are guilty of this. The Moto 360 uses a traditional band. Notifications and Alerts Any good smartwatch will alert you to incoming calls, emails and text messages with a quick buzz of your wrist, which can help you discreetly check whether it’s worth answering right away. But you should also look for social network integration for notifications from sites like Facebook and Twitter. Be sure that you’ll be able to quickly check all of your most recent notifications, even if you miss them when they first come in. For example, Pebble updated the software on its smartwatches to let you review up to 50 of your latest alerts. The Apple Watch lets you swipe down from the top of the screen to see Notification Center. Some smartwatches offer more customization options. The Samsung Gear 2, for example, lets you decide which notifications come through to your wrist by using the Gear Manager app on your phone. There’s also a Smart Relay feature. Just picking up your phone with the notification displayed on your Gear watch will open the corresponding app on the larger screen. Apps and Watchfaces Although the smartwatch category is very young, some models offer dozens or even hundreds of apps. The Apple Watch has the most impressive app roster thus far, with more than 3,500 options available. Options include Instagram, Uber, Shazam and CNN. You can do everything from control your lights with the Philips Hue app to order out lunch with Seamless. There’s a dedicated Apple Watch App Store for downloading extra software. Pebble has more than 4,200 apps and watchfaces in its app store, which makes t easy to discover and load apps. Pebble has aracted some big names, like PayPal, ESPN and The Weather Channel, but Apple has more top-tier brands in its corner. Android Wear has a fairly limited selection of apps optimized for the platform. As of May, we counted 213 featured apps, but there are some compelling options. Eat24 lets you order food from your wrist, Lyft enables you to schedule a ride and WhatsApp lets you reply to messages with your voice. Although Samsung offers an Android Wear watch, it uses the Tizen OS for the Gear 2 and Gear Neo, as well as the Gear S, for which there are more than 1,000 apps available. Options include iHeartRadio, Glympse (for location-sharing) and CNN. http://www.koboup.com/2015/10/smartwatch-buying-guide-everything-you-need-to-know/

It was a cool morning. It had poured heavily all night and now, the weather was such that it would be a huge challenge getting my butt out of bed. I tossed one more time in my duvet and tried to mentally psych myself up to get up and get dressed. I had a job interview in two hours and there is no way I could miss it. It was with a big corporate organisation and even though I will be interviewing for just the post of an Administrative Assistant, rumour had it that the job paid pretty well. The shrill ring of the alarm clock elicited a frustrated grunt out of me but I knew I could not possibly hit the snooze button one more time. It is already 10 minutes later than I should have been up anyway. I grumbled one more time and got out of bed. After my bath, I chose to wear a white crisp shirt and a black skirt. I might as well look extra professional, I thought, as I pulled on my black heeled pumps and set out. As I was heading out the door I remembered that it was my boyfriend, Daniel’s birthday today but I was already running late as it is so I resolved to call him as soon as I get on a bus. Here is one thing I forgot about Lagos on a morning such as this. Once it had rained heavily, as soon as the rain subsided, the crowd at the bus stop was insane. Everybody scrambles for any available sit on the bus and even when you finally get one, you would end up sitting in traffic for hours. I saved myself all the tension and anticipation and accepted that I would be at least an hour late for my interview. I just focused on trying to come up with what excuse to give them and what would happen if this opportunity was lost. The crowded bus made it physically difficult for me to reach for my phone and call Daniel. Heck, even if I could, he probably would not have heard me anyway. It was that noisy. ** As soon as I alighted at Ikeja bus stop, nature obviously had more surprises in store for me. It began raining heavily again and to top it all, I had to get a bike to where I was going. Suffice it to say that when I finally arrived, I was drenched and my white shirt was completely useless as I could basically see my underwear through it. I contemplated going back, but what the hell, I was here already. I might as well give it a shot. The receptionist gave me the raised eyebrow look as I entered and explained that I was here for my 8 o’clock interview. She eyed the clock, 9:10 and eyed me again then asked me to sit. When she returned to tell me the boss would see me now, I could not believe my luck. As soon as I was asked to enter, I launched into a rant of apologies and explanation about the rain, the traffic, and so on. He waved me down and asked me to take a sit on the chair in front of him. But not before he looked me over and his eyes paused a bit at my breast area. I could see a spark of interest in his eyes but hey, I was just glad that he agreed to see me in my sorry state. ** After the usual interview question/answer session, he gave me an intense look and was quiet for a second. “How badly do you want this job?” He asked. “Really bad. I would be honoured to be a part of this team,” I responded with a smile. He stood up, and approached my chair. Slowly, he reached out to touch my face. “I don’t think you understand me,” he started, with a little more tenderness in his voice, “how badly do you want this job?”. His eyes darted back to my breasts and this time, he lingered hungrily on them with unmistakeable lust in his eyes. “You are a beautiful young lady, Tolani. I would not mind getting to know you better.” “I .. er… I have a boyfriend, Mr. Frank…” “So? I have a wife too, does not mean I should let something this pretty pass me by.” I tried to smile, but I was starting to get really uncomfortable. He was starting to eyefuck me and I was not sure how to react. Soon he took hand off my face and reached for his own crotch. This was when I stood up. “Sir, I should go…” “Fine, go and think about my offer. I will see you tomorrow. And we can renegotiate…erm.. the terms of your contract.” “Are you offering me the job?” I asked, as I almost reached the door. “The job is yours, if you want it… and me….” *** “Hi Daniel, Happy Birthday, baby..” I cooed. I was back in a bus and heading home after the weird morning I had. The journey back was a lot smoother and I knew I would be home in no time. “Oh. thought you have forgotten me, love.” “Of course not, had to rush to that interview this morning. It was a pretty hectic morning jare.” “Yeah, that’s true. How was it?” ‘It was… okay. ” I replied. I was not sure why I was reluctant to tell him about the proposition made by my interviewer. We talked for a couple more minutes and I made him promise to come over that evening to celebrate. *** At around 6:30pm there was a knock at my door. Casually dressed in my shorts and tank top, I excitedly opened to see Daniel looking good as always. We have been dating for couple of years now and I am actually starting to see a future with this guy. He entered and have me a swift kiss on the lips. “So where is my birthday present?” I smiled and quietly led him to the bedroom. I slowly took of his clothes and he kissed me again. This time, more passionately. I was starting to get warm and moist in the right places but I resolved that we shall focus on his pleasure first. I reached down to kiss his chest, and tease his nipples. He moaned to urge me on. He did not need to, I could see his cock getting hard and telling me all I needed to know. Down on my knees, I went, trailing butterfly kisses as I go. I parted his thighs and licked and nibbled his inner thighs, close to his big cock. His cock was begging and throbbing for attention by now but I took my time. He moaned harder and tried to direct my mouth towards it. I peeked up at him and smiled. I give his balls a kiss and proceeded to suck on that until it was obvious he could take no more. I swallowed his cock whole in my mouth and could feel him deep in my throat. I knew what my man liked and continued to show some love to his hot, hard cock. I sucked and teased and licked and stroked. I could feel him getting closer with each thrust in my mouth. He grabbed my head and bleeped my mouth deeper and I obliged my opening wider. The more he bleeped my mouth, the wider I opened. Soon, his cock was slobbered in my saliva as he grabbed my hair and literally bleeped his way down my throat. His cock was throbbing harder until finally he came in my mouth. I enclosed my mouth around his cock and sucked all the cum I could out of him. He sighed with pleasure when it was all over. I had done my job as girlfriend. Now on to my job as an employee. I have decided to go and see my boss-to-be tomorrow. I wondered what color of panties he would like. What can I say? I needed this job badly. … to be continued http://www.koboup.com/2015/10/the-job-interview-part-1/ |
Today we look at the used car market, often the cheapest and quickest way to get your hands on the car that really fits your needs. The following tips detail the things to look out for and how to make sure you get the most for your money with the least hassle. Budget As well as choosing a car that fulfils all of your requirements, it’s important that it doesn’t leave you short of money too to cover on-going costs. The easiest way to calculate true costs are to calculate them on a month-by month basis and should be calculated to include the following: Car loan repayment costs Fuel prices – especially for larger engine vehicles Insurance costs Road tax (divided into monthly payments) Servicing and maintenance costs At each step, make sure to save where you can by negotiating for a better price on the purchase and shopping around for cheaper car insurance quotes. The value of your current car can also have a big effect on your budget, depending on whether there’s the option to trade it in or sell it on privately so take this into account if you can. If the total of the above list is more than you can comfortably afford, it can often be beneficial to search for the same model with a lower specification or smaller capacity engine. The engine size often has a direct impact on road tax, fuel economy and insurance. Choosing a used car Picking the right car for you can be a tricky process because of the huge choice available and the variety of ways of finding them, including local car listings, online and direct from dealers. Before choosing, it’s important to consider the following: What will be the primary use of the car? E.g. commuting, the school run, weekend only use. How many passengers will use it transport regularly? Four doors may be preferable to two for larger numbers. Will a larger boot capacity will be required for transporting belongings, bikes, or sporting equipment? What are the costs for petrol, tax, insurance and servicing relative to its intended use? Online is often the fastest and easiest way to browse used cars of all makes and models, making it very quick to buy a used Vauxhall, for example. Inspecting a used car Unless you happen to have a mechanic friend, it can be expensive to pay for inspections when looking for a new car however it’s not always essential and there are a few key things to look for: Get an HPI check to find out about the vehicles history, any outstanding finance or whether the car has ever been written off or stolen. Closely examine the V5C document (logbook), MOT certificates (current and old) and service history checking for regular servicing or potential mileage clocking. Check the VIN number (Vehicle Identification Number) under the bonnet on a plate, stamped into the chassis under the carpet by the driver side seat and also at the base of the windscreen to make sure these numbers match each other and the logbook. Look over the body over for obvious sides of damage or corrosion e.g. rust around the edges of panels and under wheel arches, uneven gaps between panels and mismatched paint or overspray from damage repair. Make sure all of the advertised features work e.g. power steering, air conditioning, electric windows and none make knocking or grinding noises when in use. You’ll be able to quickly verify if the car is as described in its advert by reading the key documents including the logbook, service history and MOT certificates then checking key points around the car. Test driving a car The test drive gives you a chance to check every aspect of the car and its performance, from how it handles on the road to making sure that all its features works correctly. Here are some key tips for making the most of a test drive: Organise relevant insurance to cover test drives, or ensure that the car dealer has this in place. Make sure to drive for at least twenty minutes on different road surfaces and types and at different speeds Start the car from cold and listen for unusual noises including knocking or grinding from the engine, gearbox, wheels or breaking system. Check for excessive smoke or noise coming from the exhaust by walking around the car while it’s running. During the drive, make sure that the gears, brakes, steering and suspension work as they should, without any unexpected noises or vibration. Documentation A vehicles’ documentation is vital for verifying the ownership, history and road worthiness of the car and should be reviewed carefully before parting with any money. The following points are key when reviewing documents: Check that the VIN number recorded in the logbook matches the ones displayed in the car, and the address and recorded keeper’s information tallies with the person selling the car Review the service history to check for regular servicing, yearly MOTs and that the mileage recorded increases steadily over the years. Check all the paperwork to make sure it looks and feels genuine, avoiding photocopies and print outs which could be fake Once you’re happy with all of the information you have, the test drive and are comfortable with the seller then make sure that you get a receipt for the car and that you complete the new keeper parts from the logbook, and that this is sent to the DVLA as soon as possible. The first time for a lot of women is usually a very important time in their lives. Good or bad, it is an experience they would never forgot. We have approached a few women to hear what they had to say about their first time. *Rachael (at 17) “Soon after graduating from secondary school, I met a guy and he was the first guy I ever dated. He treated me well and made me fall in love with him so I though it was natural to have him be my first. Not long after this, he traveled to South Africa to further his studies and I never heard from him again.” *Tolani (at 28) “I waited till I met my now fiance. We have been dating for two years and we just started planning our wedding at the beginning of this year. I spend a lot of time at his place because it was closer to my work. It was one of those nights I spent at his place, one thing led to another.” *Diana (at 22) “I was in polytechnic while he was struggling. I was with him through it all, but we never had an opportunity to be intimate due to the fact that neither of us had our private house and we were not financially alright. Eventually, he got a job and was able to get a small apartment of his own. We started hanging out there and soon after I lost my virginity to him. We could not maintain a relationship for too long due to religioous differences so we had to break up eventually.” *Jane (at 18) “This is not a story I am too proud of. I started dating this guy in my first year of university. He was also a virgin at the time and we both made a decision to lose our virginity to each other. It was a very uncomfortable experience as not only was he inexperienced, he was also very well endowed. I did not enjoy the intimacy at all. Not long after our tryst, I met another guy (while still with my boyfriend) and a week later, we had sex. This was so much better but I knew the guy was just with me for sex so I still stayed with my boyfriend and we went on to date for 3 more years .” *Yemisi (at 15) “We were secondary school sweethearts. I was best friends with him since JSS1. We eventually started a relationship around the time I was in SS1. We were both in the boarding house so we snuck around a lot to make love and we were the “it” couple in school. We are married with a daughter now.” *Damola (at 24) “I was a student at a University in Ogun state. I met this guy who was very well-to-do. He took care of me and bought me everything I needed including paying my school fees. I kept telling him I was a virgin but he did not believe me. He kept pressuring me for sex. One day, we were together, and while he was attempting to finally make love to me, he realized I was a virgin. We talked about it and since he had done so much for me, I decided to give myself to him. It was a terrible experience and even subsequent sessions with him were really bad. I did not know that sex could feel good until long after I broke up with him and started dating someone else that was better in bed.” *Dammie (at 16) “I was just about to graduate from secondary school and I did not have any boyfriend. I was very focused on my studies so I had no time for any social life. But one day, when my brother’s friend came to visit, he expressed interest in me and convinced me that he wanted a future with me. He talked on and on about how he was in love with me and would love for us to have a relationship. I fell for all his words and eventually let him have his way with me after a couple of months of begging. Well, needless to say, all his words were just that, words. Soon after giving it up to him, he disappeared from my life. He really taught me a lesson I would never forget.” *Regina (at 26) “My parents have always wanted me to marry the son of a family friend. When I graduated from University, they sat me down and told me that after my NYSC, we should begin to plan a wedding. I was posted to Abuja (far away from my home) for NYSC and for the first time, I had some freedom. I met a guy there I started having feelings for. Due to the thought that once I returned back home, I would be stuck marrying a man I do not love and being with him forever, I lost my virginity to the NYSC guy just so I would at least have an opportunity to do what I truly desire. I never saw him after my NYSC. I am now married to the man my parents wanted but I still think about my NYSC love from time to time.” *Bolanle (at 24) “I met him in my second year in University. When we started dating I told him I was a virgin.I noticed he was a skirt-chaser. He went after many women while he was dating me. Anytime I caught him, he told me that since I was not giving him sex, he had to get it somewhere else. I eventually gave in and had sex with him just to keep him faithful. Things were okay for a while but soon, he went back to his past ways. I still stayed with him because I did just not want to give up on someone I lost my virginity to. But when I continued being treated badly, I realized he was always going to be like that so we broke up.” *Anita (at 28) “I have always been a staunch believer in “no sex before marriage”, so when I met him at a friend’s wedding, I made it known from the start that sex was off the table until I said “I do”. We courted for almost a year and got married a few months ago. My first time was on our wedding night. I have no regrets.” (*Names have been changed to protect the identity of the women) http://www.koboup.com/2015/10/10-nigerian-women-open-up-on-how-they-lost-their-virginity/

Before the arrival of Nigerian musicians like WizKid, 2Face and Banky W, there were others that rocked the musical scene in the years before and after Nigeria’s colonial emancipation from Britain. Interestingly, the songs they render are evergreen and continue to resonate in the minds of many both at home and abroad. Stephen Osita Osadebe The tunes of Osadebe are highly influenced by the sounds of rich Igbo traditional culture. His stage performances of highlife music are a spectacle to watch as the audience stayed hooked at the night clubs he performed around the world. His most popular hit Osondi Owendi, which means “One man’s meat is another man’s poison”, was produced in 1984. Victor Uwaifo Popularly called the Guitar Boy, the Benin-born artists cut his teeth in the music scene by singing about his encounter will a certain mermaid in the song Mami water(mermaid). Most notable is the widely received classic, Joromi. Surprisingly, the 74-year-old musician, writer and sculptor is not tired of churning out good tunes as he recently featured 2Face Idibia in the song Tupepe. Christie Essien Igbokwe Christie Igbokwe was one of the few women that both entertained and thought life lessons with their music. Though born in Akwa Ibom, she was flawless in her ability to communicate fluently in English, Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa and Ibibio. Thus, it was not surprising to many Nigerians that the songs that won her public acclaim, Seun Rere, was voiced in Yoruba language. Her acceptance broke the cultural and ethnic barriers; a rarity for Nigerian artistes. She was the first female Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN) and won a handful of awards in her lifetime. King Sunny Adeniyi (KSA)) His prowess in his genre of music earned him the title ‘King of Juju’ and ‘Minister of Enjoyment’. The ogbo born musician is known for his energetic dance steps and proverbial lyrics which has endeared him to many music lovers. Most of his songs are rendered in Yoruba language and he has collaborated with A-list artists like Manu Dibango, Stevie Wonder and Youssou N’Dour. His album Synchro System brought him one of his greatest achievements by being nominated in the Grammy awards in the folk/ethnic category. Fela Kuti (Olufela Olusegun Oludotun Ransome-Kuti) Everybody knows Fela. However, what many people think about his personality vary. His struggles with the government distinguished him from other Nigerian artistes as he was in and out of prison due to his unconventional and uncompromising lifestyle. Interestingly, Fela did not call people to flood the streets of Lagos to protest rather, he condemned the government with his hard hitting music whose lyrics appalled state authorities. As his Afrobeat music was being suppressed in Nigeria, he gained international publicity while Nigerians continued to appreciate his music. His musical escapades even took the life of his mother, but this did not deter the carefree Fela. Today, his music lives on as many themes he sang about are becoming a reality as a result, he his tagged a prophet by some Nigerians. Some of his songs include Zombie, Expensive shit, Water no get enemy and Sorrow, Tears and Blood amongst others. Fela is indeed an Afrobeat legend. http://www.Koboup.com |
One-night stands are hardly as dramatic as they are sometimes made out to be. In fact, a recent study showed that, of those who legitimately desire it, casual sex comes (forgive the pun) with many benefits, like higher self-esteem and life satisfaction, and less instances of depression and anxiety. This isn’t to say that casual sex has no guiding principles or codes of conduct one should follow, but that, with a little communication and wherewithal, one-night stands will never ruin your life, or even your sheets. The following tips will ensure you have the best night possible, where you can look back with a devilish gleam in your eye and say, “That was fantastic. I hope we never see each other again!” 1. Check yourself (before you wreck yourself) Check your emotions at the door, or the bar bathroom stall or the store, depending on where you happen to be throwing down. Look upon the event as something primarily physical and short-lived, like a really spectacular sneeze. A sneeze does not expect dinner or want to meet your parents, and hence, your fling expectations should be similarly low. This doesn’t mean you get to behave like a jerk for a night, or that there are no consequences (sexual safety should always involve common sense and precaution). Checking one’s emotions simply means that you should be invested as little as possible. Sex does not have to mean something. It can, and it does, but a one-night stand’s primary concern is similar to that of a train, to get it on and get you off. If you’re unsure about a particular situation or person’s feelings, make sure to be clear and upfront about your intentions before anything goes down, or up, or sideways. 2. Use your mouth Use your mouth… to communicate your needs and desires. Part of the joy of a one-night stand is that, since the stakes are low, you can be and do whatever you want (within reason). If you want to be tied up, spanked, and called Anastasia Steel for one night, then by god, ask! Not everyone will be into doing the precise things you’re into, of course, but you have very little to lose with a one-night fling, since they won’t know it’s “out of character,” so you might as well indulge your wild side. On the reverse, you should also be open-minded when it comes to meeting your partner’s needs, too. Again, within reason. But if your partner suggests something you’ve never tried, but are amenable to, consider giving it a shot. It might just blow your mind (or load). Casual flings are perfect for getting a little dirtier and kinkier than you usually are. 3. Be unscripted One-night stands often follow a pretty standard script, which is four shots, pre-intimacy, floorplay, two minutes of oral, and p-in-the-v sex. If this is your cup of lube, then by all means, have at it, but most of us veer from this standard with people we know because what gets us off is entirely different from the common denominator. Don’t be afraid to tell your partner things that help you get off, whether that’s toys, dirty talk, watching porn, watching the Food Network, whatever. This is especially true for ladies, as we tend to neglect our desires in lieu of our partners’ desires, and because few women can orgasm from p-in-the-v sex alone. 4. Mind your manners You’re not drinking tea with the queen or anything, so there’s no need to be overly polite for your limited liaison, but you’d do well to remember the Golden Rule: Do unto others as you’d have them do unto your precious penis. That is to say, basic courtesies should be followed. If it is late at night, let them sleep in your bed. Keep the conversation light — avoid mentions of exes, politics, or family members’ prescription drug habits. There’s no need to brunch or engage in a little post-sex Sudoku the next morning, but an offer of a cup of coffee or tea is polite. As to the goodbye speech, that should also be kept light and funny, if you can help it. A simple, “Thanks for the hot night” should suffice, if witty repartees should fail you in your hungover state. 5. So all is not wasted Speaking of hangovers, try not to be wasted during your one-night romp. An expert casual sex aficionado knows that the experience hardly counts if you can’t remember what actually happened the next day or where that strange bruise came from. 6. The departed Finally, a word on departing. Don’t sneak off without saying goodbye, which can make it seem as if you regretted having the sex, make the person feel “used,” or feel that the performance was second-rate. And even if it wasn’t a life-altering event, leaving without a word makes it into a more dramatic occurrence than it would otherwise be, and should hence be avoided. 7. That’s a wrap Manners are one thing, but failing to protect one’s body and health should never be up for discussion. You should always, always practice safer sex when casually screwing, especially so with someone you’ve just met or don’t know very well. Condoms don’t protect you from everything, after all, but they are still a requirement, at bare minimum. Lay it on the table , and if your partner seems uninterested in using protection, then you should find another short-term sweetheart. Live-longer tips Science says that your diet, how much you exercise, and your genes all play a role in determining how long you’ll live. Those who have lived to blow out 100 candles, however, say they’ve used other strategies for achieving their old age. Here, longevity tips from 11 centenarians around the world—some legit, some hilarious, and some downright bizarre. Agnes Fenton, 110: Agnes Fenton of New Jersey credits her 110 years to downing three bottles of Miller High Life and a glass of whiskey every day. She told ABC News in August 2015 that her booze-filled diet began 70 years ago, when a doctor advised her to drink the “Champagne of Beers” daily after finding that her only health problem was a benign tumor. Fenton followed her doctor’s orders for years, even adding some Johnnie Walker Blue Label into the mix, until her caretakers nixed the alcohol when she began to eat less. Duranord Veillard, 108: New York resident Duranord Veillard, 108, starts each day with oatmeal, fruit, and a cup of tea and ends with fish and vegetables. According to USA Today, Veillard has always done five to seven pushups every morning, even now. He celebrated his latest birthday in February with his wife of 82 years, Jeanne, who turned 105 in May. Adelina Domingues, lived to 114: Adelina Domingues, who passed away at age 114, never fractured a bone, didn’t take any medications, and never needed to go to the hospital. The secret to her longevity? Never wearing makeup. “I’ve never been to a beauty shop and I’ve never been vain,” she told the San Diego Union Tribune. Her Union-Tribune obituary also claimed that she never smoked or drank and considered religion to be her best medicine. Susannah Mushatt Jones, 116: Susannah Mushatt Jones turned 116 in July 2015, making her the world’s oldest living person, according to a statement from Guinness World Records. She says she has always kept up on her sleep and held a steady diet of bacon, eggs, and grits for breakfast. Her family told USA Today that her longevity comes from her love of family and generosity to others. Ruth Coben, 103: Even in her 100s, New York City resident Ruth Coben lifts weights, practices Pilates once a week, and has been known to show off her fashion chops online. She told Advanced Style, a fashion blog that features senior women, that her motto for long life is to celebrate every day and not look at the calendar. She also believes that as long as you are able to move, you can do some form of exercise. George Boggess, 103: After serving in World War II, marching with Martin Luther King Jr. and serving at the D.C. Superior Court, George Boggess hopes to live to 105. His advice for living a long life: lots of walking. “I attribute my longevity to a great extent to walking, not being in the back of the car strapped down,” he told Washington’s Top News in 2013. Paul Marcus, 101: Paul Marcus clocked in time at his local fitness facility, even into his 100s. Despite his dedication to keeping in shape, Marcus said the secret to longevity is luck. “One, you gotta have good genes,” he told the Denver Post in 2013. “Two, you gotta be goddamned lucky for 100 years. And three: I eat whatever I want. The secret to longevity is ice cream.” Misao Okawa, lived to 117: Okawa was the world’s oldest person leading up to her death in April 2015. According to the UK’s Mirror, she credits her long life to her diet of sushi, getting eight hours of sleep each night and relaxing. Japan is believed to have more than 50,000 people who have lived to be over 100 years old. This is often attributed to the country’s low-fat diet, which is rich in sushi and fish. Gertrude Weaver, lived to 116: Gertrude Weaver, one of the last surviving people born in the 1800s when she passed in April 2015, credited her 116 years to simply being kind. Her advice for a long life: “Treat people right and be nice to other people the way you want them to be nice to you,” she told TIME in 2014. Weaver also credited her lack of chronic health problems to not drinking or smoking and getting plenty of sleep. Jessie Gallan, lived to 109: Jessie Gallan spent her life eating lots of porridge, but you never would have found her spending her time with a man. In her 109 years, this independent lady never married. In January 2015, shortly before her 109th birthday and just three months before she passed away, Gallan linked the lack of men in her life to her longevity. “They’re more trouble than they’re worth,” she told The Daily Mail. Instead she spent her life getting plenty of exercise, surrounding herself with nice people, and working hard starting at age 13. http://www.koboup.com |

I have a Glo sponsored collabo with Don Jazzy in the works –D’banj DB records front man, D’banj has revealed he had plans to reunite with Don Jazzy long before TuFace implored them to do a collabo. According to the singer and entrepreneur, the single has since been in the works and it will be sponsored by telco giant, Globacom. Speaking with Potpourri, he said: “Glo has said they will sponsor it (the song), even before 2Face begged us. We’re already working on something great that you guys will love; and I guarantee you will hear it very soon. “I believe that with 2Face saying it that day, it represents the voice of the people. You have to also know that since it’s my 10th year anniversary, it’s also Don Jazzy’s 10th year as well. Don Jazzy is my brother now when it comes to endorsement as Diageo endorsed him too. We can even go on a tour together; what do you think?” On how he feels when people turn out en-masse to meat him on the streets, he said, “I feel humbled. I mean it’s always like a dream, especially when you know that everything you’ve done is from God, and I always give thanks to God. I always pray that anytime I come out, it should be better than the last. When I went to Computer Village and everybody came out, it felt surreal. Some came with paintings of me, some were crying; I just felt humbled that I have to keep on doing whatever brought me here. And I will continue even in another 20 years.” http://www.koboup.com/2015/10/i-have-a-glo-sponsored-collabo-with-don-jazzy-in-the-works-dbanj/ |

The Nigerian Army has banned the wearing of unauthorized Army uniforms, accoutrement and kits by Ex-Students of Nigerian Military School Zaria (aka Ex-Boys) in civil institutions. The illegal practice of wearing Nigerian Army uniforms and kits by Ex-Boys apart from obvious security implications, impacts negatively on the image of Nigerian Army. Army, according to a statement signed by its Director of Public Relations, Col Sani Kukasheka Usman yesterday, says, “It is pertinent to reiterate that wearing of military uniforms or kits on campus by anyone is absolutely unlawful” adding “More worrisome, is the fact that most of the offenders are Ex-students who have deserted the Army, and are not legally entitled to have military uniforms or items within their possessions”. The statement reminded those affected that “the Ex-Boys who left Nigerian Military School from 2012 when the school ceased to be a military institution, are expected to surrender their military uniforms and kits after graduation”. The Army also discloses “that illegal possession of military accoutrement is punishable under sections 109,110 and 251 of Nigerian Criminal Code”. It said it is working with other security agencies to apprehend defaulters/impostors in all civil institutions of higher learning in Nigeria. “The security departments of civil institutions and the general public are also requested to report suspected impostors to nearest Nigerian Army formations or Security Agencies,” the acting spokesman said. In another development, the COAS Barracks Investment Initiative Programme (COAS BIIP) Sensitization exercise is to commence from 5th – 9th October 2015 in all cantonments and barracks across the country. The investment scheme is an initiative of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai as part of his welfare drive for officers and soldiers by engaging their spouses and dependants living in the barracks on income yielding agricultural ventures such as animal husbandry, fish farming, poultry and other profit making agricultural activities. The programme is aimed at empowering them financially and it is open to all spouses, dependants of serving and late Nigerian Army personnel living within the various Nigerian Army barracks and cantonments across the country. “Empowering barracks personnel are expected to contribute to the nation’s economy apart from providing the beneficiaries with a means of sustenance”, the Army stated http://www.koboup.com/2015/10/army-bans-use-of-military-uniforms-by-ex-boys-of-military-schools/ |

President Muhammadu Buhari has proffered solutions to countering the activities of violent Islamist group, the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) also known as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). Buhari who addressed global leaders in New York, United States, said young people must be stopped from linking up with the terrorist group or any other sect across the world. As part of solutions to counter ISIL, Buhari noted that “good governance, which entails transparency, accountability and rule of law, remains the basis on which we should kick-start the process of ridding the world of the menace of terrorism and violent extremism.” He added further that: “The international community will be required to work together to deter and disrupt illicit financial flows from nations with weak anti–theft structures to other parts of the world.” Read full statement below GLOBAL LEADERS’ SUMMIT ON COUNTERING ISIL AND VIOLENT EXTREMISM REMARKS BY HIS EXCELLENCY MUHAMMADU BUHARI, PRESIDENT, FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA I thank President Obama for organising this important meeting. The timing is appropriate and the subject matter warrants our close attention. The threats posed by ISIL in the Middle East, and violent extremism elsewhere, are an existential danger to many States. 2. ISIL is a serious threat to international peace and security and should be treated as such. There can be no half measures or expedient solutions in dealing with terrorists and extremists. 3. They respect no laws, and have no regard to the sanctity of lives and property. They operate outside law and must be seen for what they are and dealt with appropriately. Mr. Chairman, 4. Given that the acceptance process for recruits into the ranks of ISIL involves rigorous vetting and screening as well as sponsorship known as “tazkiya”; our expectation was that the demanding enlistment process coupled with the legal framework instituted by the United Nations would stem the tide of their flow. Apparently this is not yet happening. Mr. Chairman, 5. The increase in violence and terrorism by ISIL and other groups has enticed and emboldened insurgent groups in Africa to pledge allegiance to gain local traction. The Boko Haram terrorist group, operating in the Lake Chad Basin area, which is currently on the Al-Qaida sanctions list, pledged its allegiance to ISIL in March 2015. 6. While we believe that Boko Haram action is an indication of the weakening operational capability of the group, it could also suggest that it was a strategic move to attract foreign fighters into its fold, and obtain assistance from ISIL. Certainly, whatever the reason was for the declaration of allegiance, one thing is certain: Boko Haram terrorist group wants to be drawn into the centre stage of global terrorism. 7. This development has led not only to a shift in strategy, but also to changes in ideology, recruitment and propaganda methods by Boko Haram. Its recourse to mass executions and public beheadings in the style of ISIL became notoriously widespread after the declaration of allegiance. 8. We also note that sub-Saharan Africa has been receiving special attention for purposes of radicalization and incitement. In the April 2015 Edition of the IS magazine, “DABIQ” entitled ‘Shariah Alone Will Rule Africa’ , Boko Haram was congratulated for “joining the caravan” of jihad, saying that they would “now guard yet another frontier of the Khilafah [caliphate]”. Boko Haram is neither protecting nor promoting Islam. Islam is the religion of peace and does not advocate the killing of the innocent. 9. Furthermore, capitalizing on historic ethnic tensions and upheavals in Africa, ISIL is making vigorous recruitment campaigns and strident efforts to expand into some communities in the Sahel region. Indeed, ISIL operations have lent credence to the supposition that terrorism and violent extremism are the two sides of the same coin. Mr. Chairman, 10. Nigeria notes with satisfaction the efforts of the United Nations and the rest of the international community to contain ISIL. We certainly need to do more. We need to take military action combined with effective border security, intelligence collection and sharing, and vigorous policing action. 11. These alone may not suffice, but they can certainly stem the tide and reverse the process of recruitment, movement and effective operation of foreign terrorist fighters and their associated radical extremists. In order to put in place the critical components of an effective approach to countering ISIL and eventually defeating it, we must address the threat from the source. 12. We must find a way to prevent young people from turning to terror in the first place. And the young people that turn to violent extremism do not exist in a vacuum – they are often part of communities and families and are lured into the fold of barbaric and nihilistic organizations, somehow, through a misguided appeal to their worst fears, expectations and apparent frustrations. Mr Chairman, 13. While addressing the causes of this attraction and how to deal with them, we should pay close attention to other manifest factors that may not be tangible but can be crucial. Good governance, which entails transparency, accountability and rule of law, remains the basis on which we should kick-start the process of ridding the world of the menace of terrorism and violent extremism. 14. The international community will be required to work together to deter and disrupt illicit financial flows from nations with weak anti–theft structures to other parts of the world. 15. Where such funds are identified, the victim State should be assisted to recover them expeditiously. Mr Chairman, you have yourself observed that “groups like al-Qa’ida and ISIL exploit the anger that festers when people feel that injustice and corruption leave them with no chance of improving their lives.” Mr Chairman, 16. Member States need to address local socio-economic grievances by formulating policies that would ensure broad-based transformation through job creation, equalization of opportunities and expanding access to social services. 17. We in Africa need also rededicate ourselves to uphold the mandate of the African Union Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) and other good governance initiatives that we have adopted in our region, to encourage conformity with political, economic and corporate governance values. Mr. Chairman, 18. The Secretary-General of the United Nations noted in February 2015, we are facing the “the greatest test our human family faces in the 21st century”. Thus, all options must be explored and all hands must be on deck in the quest for a durable and a lasting panacea to the threat posed by ISIL, Al-Qaida, Boko Haram and the like. Thank you for your attention. http://www.koboup.com/2015/09/buhari-lectures-world-leaders-on-how-to-counter-isil/ |
First batch of pilgrims from Ogun State arrived from the holy land of Mecca and Medina Monday afternoon. The Medview Airline aircraft that conveyed the 539 pilgrims touched down at the Muritala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos State, western Nigeria at exactly 1:35 pm. Information gathered from the state Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board revealed that 1,185 pilgrims travelled from the state to the holy land this year. One of the officials of the board who preferred anonymity because he was not authorised to speak with newsmen confirmed the information. He also disclosed that the next batch may arrive either on Thursday or Friday. “I want to confirm to you that first batch of the state pilgrims to Saudi Arabia arrived the country today (yesterday) and they are on their way to their various homes. “Concerning the remaining pilgrims, I think with information at my disposal, another batch will be coming in either on Thursday or Friday. “But, what I know is that every arrangements have been perfected and there won’t be any problem about their trip back home,”the source said. http://www.koboup.com/2015/09/first-batch-of-ogun-pilgrims-arrive-from-saudi/ |
https://www.koboup.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/wpid-screenshot_2015-09-29-12-10-22-1.jpg It’s hard to believe that the now iconic Audi TT has been around since 1998, making it nearly 20 years old!! Whilst visually we have always had a love affair with the TT, when it came to the drive, the early versions perhaps didn’t quite match up. Thankfully though, the all new 2015 TT roadster is by far the best we have driven yet! Looks wise, you don’t need us to give you a detailed description, the TT has always been an aesthetically pleasing, fun and playful car which us Janes just love. Those curves and flowing lines make it one of the most attractive cars in the automotive world. The roadster is of course, the soft-top variety, perfect for those summer days, or even the winter ones where the sun still manages to peek through the clouds. Whilst it is an ultimately small car with just two seats, we enjoy the extra size the TT portrays, making us feel like queen of the road! On the inside that space is continued and you are greeted with the usual high-quality finish that we have come to expect from Audi. The virtual cockpit is every bit as good as we had hoped with all of the cars functionality being displayed from a wide display behind the steering wheel. It is both intuitive and easy to use and hasn’t suffered from the all-to-frequent poor operating systems that can be found throughout some cars. In terms of hands-free capabilities, connecting your smartphone is a breeze and streaming music via Bluetooth is absolutely effortless. The satellite navigation is easy to use and features a cool touch pad that allows you to draw the letters of your destination instead of rotating the wheel to select. It might seem a little difficult to start with, but you soon get used to it. The cabin is very comfortable and when the sun comes out, the fabric roof can be retracted in 10 seconds flat at the push of a button – quick enough to catch a few rays of sunshine at least! The boot space is deceptively big; we managed to pack it with enough clothes and shoes for a weekend away without wishing we had room to pack anymore! Whether the car is cruising down the motorway or heading down some country lanes, the ride is smooth at all times. The steering is sharp and responsive and the acceleration through the gears is incredibly refined, with more than enough power there when you need it. The 2015 TT grips to the road perfectly and will leave you feeling like a much better driver than you actually are (in a good way of course). We tested the 2.0 TDI Ultra Sport model which delivers 181bhp from a diesel engine, giving it all the power we needed and nearly 60 mile per gallon on a run. When it was time to say goodbye to the TT we were very sad to see it go. It’s got the looks, the performance and a few sensible touches (low CO2 emissions, low road tax, excellent MPG). The new roadster is the perfect car to maintain the TT’s premier status in this market and we’re fairly sure it’s competition will have to up their game to reach the same level as this. President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria promised at the United Nations on Monday to rescue the schoolgirls kidnapped by Boko Haram fighters in 2014 and to defeat the Islamist militia. “One of our major aims is to rescue the Chibok girls alive and unharmed,” he said to applause during his first address to the General Assembly since taking office earlier this year. Boko Haram fighters stormed a school in the remote northeastern Nigerian town of Chibok on April 14, 2014, seizing 276 girls who were preparing for end-of-year exams in an abduction that shocked the world. Fifty-seven escaped, but nothing has been heard of the 219 others since May last year, when about 100 of them appeared in a Boko Haram video, dressed in Muslim attire and reciting the Koran. Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau has since said they all converted to Islam and been “married off.” Buhari, who has promised to stamp out the group’s bloody six-year insurgency, told the General Assembly that his government had put in place “a bold and robust strategy to defeat Boko Haram.” Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad, Niger and Benin had established a “joint task force to confront, degrade and defeat” the militia, Buhari said. “We have driven them away from many of their strongholds, killed or captured many of their operatives or commanders and freed several hundreds of hostages,” he said. http://www.koboup.com/2015/09/my-major-aim-is-to-rescue-chibok-girls-alive-and-unharmed-buhari-tells-unga/ |
There are a lot of underrated sex acts, but here’s a big one you’ve probably been ignoring… Fingering. Most adults tend to forget about fingering, but I’m going to show you why I think this act deserves a place in any couple’s sexual repertoire, and give you some tips for how to do it properly. Before we get into the details of how to become a fingering master, allow me to convince you why you should even bother in the first place. It’s a Nice Change of Pace We tend to start our relationships being much more sexually creative and varied, but there’s something about having intercourse that seems to make people forget that other sexual activities are possible. Most established heterosexual couples have long since abandoned fingering. If they do it at all, they do what I call the “let-me-just-pop-my-finger-in-here-real-quick-to-make-sure-it’s-wet-enough-for-my-dick” move. Intercourse can be incredible, but it can also start to feel a little boring and predictable if it’s all you’re doing. Having an entire sexual session where all you’re doing is fingering her can feel so refreshing and unexpected. Most women haven’t been thoroughly fingered in a very long time. For some, it might even date back to their high school days, furtively hiding in the back of the movie theater or behind a school building. Fingering her will instantly breathe some new life into the bedroom, and will remind her that getting fingered used to feel—and can still feel—thrilling. It Feels Fantastic Every woman is different, of course, but many would agree that getting fingered feels phenomenal. Fingers can give much more focused, deliberate, and intense stimulation than any other body part. You can also use one hand inside of her and the other on her clitoris. The combination of internal and external sensations can feel incredible. It’s More Likely to Make Her Orgasm than Intercourse 70% of women require clitoral stimulation to reach orgasm. Getting clitoral stimulation during intercourse is possible, but a lot of women have a hard time focusing on their own pleasure during intercourse. They may feel too embarrassed to ask for clitoral stimulation, or too shy to reach down and do it themselves, and it’s logistically difficult in a lot of positions. Fingering is quite simply one of the easiest ways for women to reach orgasm. You can give her the exact kind of stimulation she needs. It Lets Her Focus on Receiving It’s so rare in life that we get the opportunity to just receive. Being able to soak up all of the attention without having to worry about our partner in that moment can feel like such a gift. Plus, being giving and generous towards her may evoke some warm fuzzy feelings for you, and may inspire her to reciprocate next time. How to Do It Now let’s get into the real nitty gritty of how to do the deed. Get Her Permission Ask her if she’ll let you finger her tonight. Build up some anticipation by sending her this article, or a sexy text. Let her know that tonight it’s going to be all about her, and her only. Tell her how excited you are to lavish attention on her gorgeous body. Start with Good Tools Make sure your nails are trimmed and filed, and that you don’t have any bothersome hangnails. Do not cut your nails right before doing the deed, as they’ll be too sharp! Use Lube A good fingering requires good lube! If you don’t have any on hand or can’t stop off at your friendly local sex shop, coconut oil can do the trick. Tease Her Spend plenty of time kissing her, slowly removing her clothes, and running your hands all over her body. Leave her underwear on, and trace your fingertips lightly over the fabric. You want her to be squirming with anticipation before actually getting down to business. Remember the Basics Get in a comfortable position that gives you good leverage with both hands. You can sit between her legs while she’s flat on the bed, or have her drape her legs off the edge of a bed or sofa while you kneel between her knees. Use your dominant hand on her clitoris, and your non-dominant hand inside of her. Since the clitoris is so sensitive, you’ll want your more dextrous hand on the job, but you can always switch if you want more power for the hand doing the thrusting. A safe place to start is drawing circles around her clitoris with your thumb, and using two fingers to pump in and out of her vaginal canal. Start off slow and gentle, and gradually build up to more intensity. Give Her Options and Ask for Feedback If you’re not sure what she likes, demonstrate two different techniques, and get her feedback about what she likes best. Ask her, “do you like it better when I Bleep you with two fingers, like this… or three fingers, like this…” Here are some other techniques to try: Going up and down across her clitoris vs left to right Thrusting your fingers into her harder vs softer, or deeper vs shallower Doing just clitoral stimulation, just internal stimulation, or both at the same time Twisting your wrist as you move in and out of her vs using a “come here” motion to stroke her center of gravity Have Fun! Fingering your lady can be an awful lot of fun. You’re completely in charge of her pleasure, and can watch her respond to your every touch. If she knows you’re enjoying yourself, she’ll have a better time too http://www.koboup.com/2015/09/s-ex-acts-you-are-ignoring-that-could-be-the-secret-to-her-orgasm/ |
Governor Umaru Al-Makura of Nasarawa State has appealed to the Federal Government led by President Muhammadu Buhari to expand the Abuja to Keffi highway to ease traffic congestion on the road. Al-Makura made the appeal on Sunday while inspecting facilities along the road. He said the hardship faced by commuters from that axis to and from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), was becoming too unbearable. Al-Makura said that the dual carriage road, which was about 30 meters wide, could be expanded to five lanes and walkways. He said that that Nasarawa State government would open discussion with the Federal Government with a view to fast-tracking the expansion of the road as soon as possible. He said that the expansion would ease out the gridlock usually experienced on the road, thereby saving commuters daily loss of man hour as a result of the congestion. Al-Makura said that the state government had set up a task force, positioned every 100 meters along the road, to check indiscriminate dumping of refuse by residents. He said the task force had been mandated to prosecute anyone found dumping refuse on the highway, to serve as deterrent to other residents. Al-Makura therefore appealed to residents to support the task force in ensuring proper environmental sanitation to safeguard their health. The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Sunday urged the military to sustain its gallantry and patriotism and step up intelligence gathering efforts in the fight against terrorism. Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, made the call in a statement issued in Lagos. The statement hailed the military for its recent string of successes in the battle against Boko Haram, the terror group that has caused the nation so much pain. It said that the performance of the military had shown that the terror group could be defeated within the time set by President Muhammadu Buhari. “The continued push to dislodge the terrorists from their fortress in Sambisa Forest and elsewhere, the dismantling of their major fuel depot and other logistics is commendable. “Also, the rescue of many innocent people from the clutches of the terrorists is clear indication that the military has gained the upper hand against Boko Haram. “The mere fact that the terrorists are now surrendering in droves to the gallant troops of the Nigerian military is the clearest indication yet that the bandits are feeling the tremendous heat, which has been turned on them,” it said. The statement also commended the Service Chiefs for their exemplary leadership, saying that it had made the difference in motivating the troops. “The bigger picture of the impending Boko Haram defeat is the restoration of the much-vaunted capability of the Nigerian military and its globally-acclaimed professionalism that have vaulted Nigeria to the elite group of top global peace-keeping nations. “The sharp turnaround in the war against Boko Haram is also an indication of what a nation can achieve under a purposeful, committed, disciplined and sincere leadership.” The statement appealed to Nigerians to continue to support and pray for the troops. According to the statement, this is imperative as the troops are paying the supreme price for the safety and security of all Nigerians, as well as the stability, cohesion and unity of the country. http://www.koboup.com |
BlackBerry on Friday confirmed its plans to launch an Android-based handset even as the company reported financial results below what analysts were expecting. The company said its latest quarterly loss, excluding certain items, was 13 cents per share on revenue of about $490 million. Analysts had been expecting a per-share loss of about 9 cents, on revenue closer to $600 million. The upcoming Android phone, dubbed Priv, will have a slide-out keyboard and “combines the best of BlackBerry security and productivity with the expansive mobile application ecosystem available on the Android platform,” CEO John Chen said in a statement. Priv is due out at the end of 2015, BlackBerry said, adding that it remains committed to its own BlackBerry 10 OS, which is slated to get a software update in March with further security and privacy enhancements. “We are focused on making faster progress to achieve profitability in our handset business,” Chen said. The company also announced plans earlier this month to acquire rival Good Technology for $425 million. “From these initiatives, we anticipate modest sequential revenue growth in each of the remaining quarters of fiscal 2016.” BlackBerry noted that it did post $100 million in free cash flow last quarter and increased its cash and investment balance to $3.35 billion, up $37 million following $47 million it spent buying back its own shares. Last month, Chen acknowledged that the company’s latest handhelds had not been a runaway success and said that BlackBerry needed phones that could run more apps. He stopped short of saying that future devices would run Google’s flavor of Android, however. http://www.koboup.com/2015/09/blackberry-to-launch-android-based-smartphone/ |
