Business / The Importance Of Having A Website For Your Business by KoboUP(m): 4:15pm On Dec 26, 2015
If you don't have a website that you can refer people to potential customers are going to assume that you are a small time company that does not take their business seriously, One of the great things about the internet is that the size of your company does not really matter.

A website will not just give you credibility but it will also give the impression that your company is bigger and more successful than it may actually be. You would think that in this day and age everybody would know how important a website is for all businesses.

Any business that does not have a website is missing out on one of the most powerful marketing tools of the modern age.

The Importance of Having a Website for Your Business

Visibility
Increasing visibility is one major factor that makes having a website important. Even if people have heard about your company, they may want to carry out research online first, before leaving the house. Provide a map and directions to your company's shops or offices on your website so that visitors are less likely to have trouble finding the place.

Low-Cost Advertising
The Web has a far wider reach than any other form of advertising. While it takes time to build up enough traffic to your website to make a worthwhile impact on your company's marketing campaign, it costs next to nothing to do so. Your website will be the center of your company's online presence; through it, you advertise your business around the Web on social networking sites, forums and through pay-per-click advertising programs.

Sales

Your website can sell products at any time. Potential customers are not restricted to business hours. Instead, they can go online and purchase products whenever they want. A website with an online shop can provide a dramatic boost in sales.

Accessibility
A website is online and accessible 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Because of this, your customers and potential customers can visit your site for support or information about new and upcoming products and services whenever it is convenient for them. Your website will act as an invaluable and always-available resource for information which would otherwise only be accessible during your company's business hours.

Computers / 17 Easy Ways To Extend Your Laptop's Battery Life by KoboUP(m): 4:39pm On Dec 25, 2015
Many factors affect the amount of time that a laptop battery can deliver power before it must be recharged, Here are some more tips to improve your notebook's battery life:

1. Turn off Auto-save features in Microsoft Office and other applications.

2. Adjust your screen brightness - Dimming your display saves battery power.

3. Decrease or mute the Laptop Speaker Volume.

4. Don't play computer games, music or DVD movies - Multimedia activities drain laptop batteries.

5. Tweak Windows Power Options - Choose a Laptop power scheme that turns off the notebook monitor and hard disk after 10 minutes of inactivity.

6. Disconnect all external device like PC Card modems, Firewire, USB devices and optical drives. Use the notebook touchpad instead of an external mouse.

7. Turn off all scheduled tasks.

8. Programs that are run from a CD or DVD can be copied to and run from the hard drive, which typically consumes less power than an optical drive..

9. If your PC has a built-in wireless card, turn it off or disable it when not in use.

10. Turn off Wi-Fi and BlueTooth - Most laptops have shortcut keys to instantly disable wireless networking

11. If you do not use your laptop for extended periods of time (a week or more), remove the battery pack from the laptop.

12. Do not expose the battery to high heat or freezing temperatures. Do not leave your battery in your car in the summer. Hot batteries discharge very quickly, and cold ones can't create as much power.

13. Make sure to plug your laptop charger adapter into a UPS and not directly into a power outlet or surge protector.

14. If you have a nickel-metal hydride battery, completely drain and recharge the battery once a month to maximize its capacity to hold a charge.

15. Fully charge new battery packs before use. New pack needs to be fully charged and discharged (cycled) a few times before it can condition to full capacity.

16. For laptops that work as Desktop Replacement, the battery should be re-installed every 3-4 weeks and allowed to fully discharge.

17. Leaving a battery in a laptop while using an electrical outlet for long periods of time will keep the battery in a constant state of charging up and that will reduce the life cycle of the battery.

So there you have it, the 17 easy ways to extend your laptop's battery life, fill free to leave a comment bellow if you have any tips on ways to extend a laptops battery life.

Webmasters / How To Write Magnetic Headlines by KoboUP(m): 4:26pm On Dec 25, 2015
You spend hours writing exceptionally good content, but how much time do you spend focusing on crafting the perfect headline? Chances are not enough time.

The most important part of writing an article is the headline. The same principle applies to blog posts, book chapters, and so on: The title is where your focus should be. You should begin and end every article with the question: “Would this make me want to read on?”

If not, don’t publish until you’ve got a catchy headline. Concentrate on this, and you’ll get more readers, more buzz, and more love. The better your headline, the better your odds of beating the averages and getting what you’ve written read by a larger percentage of people.

How to write Magnetic headlines
Too often the headline is the most neglected part of writing an article. People just gloss over it without taking much time to consider it.

I sometimes deliberate over titles for 30–60 minutes before settling on one that works. And I often go back and change them. This is what it takes to write a good headline.
If you need some help concocting catchier headlines, here are a few simple tricks.

Use numbers
There’s a reason why so many copywriters use numbers in their headlines. It works.

Do an experiment: Go to the grocery store, and scan the magazines in the checkout lane. Look at the front-page article headlines. It doesn’t matter if it’s a fitness magazine or a tabloid; many of them will be using numerals to start off the headline.
There aren’t really any rules (as far as I know) regarding what numbers work best, but people typically only remember three to five points. That said, sometimes a really obscure number like 19 or 37 can catch people’s attention.

Use interesting adjectives
Here are some examples:
•Effortless
•Painstaking
•Fun
•Free
•Incredible
•Essential
•Absolute
•Strange

Use unique rationale
If you’re going to do a list post, be original. For example consider the following:
•Reasons
•Principles
•Facts
•Lessons
•Ideas
•Ways
•Secrets
•Tricks
If possible, never use things. Please, for the love of Pete, don’t use things. You can do better than that.

Use what, why, how, or when
These are trigger words. I typically use “why” and “how” the most, because I’m often trying to persuade or enable someone. Typically, you’ll use either a trigger word or a number. Rarely does it sound good to do both.

Make an audacious promise
Promise your reader something valuable. Will you teach her how to learn a new skill? Will you persuade her to do something she’s never done before? Will you unlock an ancient mystery?
What you want to do is dare your reader to read the article. Without over-promising, be bold. Be seductive (in the most innocuous way possible, of course). Be dangerous. And then deliver what you promised.

Conclusion
The difference between creating a great headline and a mediocre one is huge. When you write a blog post, you should know if it will be a hit based on the headline. And sadly, even if the content sucks, you know the post will still do well because of the headline.

If you really want to hit a home run with your blog posts, spend as much time crafting the headline as you do writing the post.

Webmasters / Blogger Vs. Wordpress: Choosing A Blogging Platform by KoboUP(m): 3:39pm On Dec 22, 2015
Not able to choose a blogging platform? well here is a WordPress versus Blogger comparison.
WordPress and (Blogger) are two of the worlds most popular blogging platforms. If you are just starting to explore the profitable world of blogging, you might be wondering which one to pick.

This detailed breakdown of each service should hopefully help you decide.

Blogger
When most people begin blogging, they start with Blogger. The main reason is that Blogger is free, it is pretty user-friendly, and you can have a blog up and running in a matter of minutes. Although most people tend to move from Blogger to WordPress at some point.

Being easy and free to use, hosts most of the blogs on the Internet. You just go to Blogger.com and get registered. As simple as that.No need to pay for hosting. You can also add your own custom domain with blog and make it look like a professional website or blog.

A blog allows you to edit your template or use any of the free templates available on the Internet. Unlike free WordPess.com blog, it also allow you to display Google AdSense ads.
Despite the ability to change your theme and show ads, you still don’t own the blog. You own you domain name, though.

The biggest problem with Blogger is search engine optimization. You don’t have the right meta description and keyword tags. This severely curtails your ability to compete with other bloggers in your niche.

If you are really short on cash, a free blog is the winner in this Blogger vs WordPress comparison analysis. I would suggest you go for a blog with custom domain name. This will allow you to start blogging with an investment of just a few dollars. When your blog grows and you start making money, move to a self-shosted WordPress blog. If you have enough money to invest, get your own domain name and web hosting to set up your self-hosted WordPress blog.

WordPress

Then, there is WordPress, which comes in two forms- the free, .com version and the self-hosted .org version. Here’s the deal; there are only so many choices we can handle before our brains explode, so I’m going to make this easy for you. If you want to stick to a free blog, where you are not paying anything, you should have a Blogger blog. is much more restrictive in what you are able to do behind the scenes and also does not allow ads. Monetization is a key goal for many bloggers, so if this is something you ever think you want to do, then is out. In addition, many of the fun plugins for wordpress.org are not available on the .com version, and there about five hundred other restrictions that I will spare you.

Free blog:
If you plan to use the free version of , you will have very limited control over the blog. The choice of themes will be just a handful and you might not find the best themes there. Also, the list plug-ins available will also be small. This means you will not be able to add various desired functions or features in your blog. A free blog on is not suitable for those who want to make money by placing ads (Adsense, BuysellAds, Yahoo Publisher Network, etc.) on their blogs.

Self-hosted WordPress.org blog:
WordPress provides you the blogging platform application/software for free. You can download and host it on your on web hosting server. This will require you to buy a domain name and web hosting from companies like GoDaddy. It will cost up to $100 to buy web hosting, domain and a premium WordPress theme for your self-hosted WordPress blog.

Is it worth spending $100 to get your self-hosted WordPress blog up and running? I know $100 is a significant amount for most of us, but you will be investing a lot of time working on your blog. The value of your hard work will be several times the $100 required to get a self-hosted WordPress blog.

If you keep blogging without a good platform with complete control, you might miss a lot of opportunities to make money, thousands of dollars a month.

Search engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing are the biggest source of visitors for blogs. Search engine optimization (SEO) is important for better ranking in search results. With WordPress SEO plugins, it is very easy to do this.

With WordPress, you have better control over your blog as you own it. This is missing with or Blogger.

Conclusion
Now it’s your time to pick the winner of Blogger vs WordPress game. Whatever you choose, don’t forget to work hard and keep blogging with patience. Discipline and perseverance is the key to successful blogging.

Webmasters / 10 SEO Tips For Blogs by KoboUP(m): 8:18pm On Dec 21, 2015
Today i will be sharing some awesome SEO tips which will help you to get better search engine ranking. being a free Blogging platform, it’s always a preferred platform to start Blogging and learn the basics.

Below are some tips and tricks that will be beneficial for you to optimize your blog for Google and other search engines. Read them carefully and apply all of them on your blog to make your blog lovable and trust worthy for search engines.

1. Optimize Blog Post Titles
If you just started your blog on blogger’s default template, then definitely you’ll not be aware with this fact that your post titles are not properly optimized for search engines. You need to do some editing in your blog template to make your post titles properly optimized. You will see a noticeable change in organic traffic of your blog after making this change.

2. Keywords

Keywords play an important role in enhancing your search rankings, but you need to be careful while using keywords, there is fine line between perfect optimization and over optimization. An ideal keyword percentage would be 4%.This means that you must try to attain about 4% ratio between your content and the number of keywords, anything more than 5% can be considered as spamming.

Also make sure that you include different varieties of your keyword, for example, if your keyword is "training dogs", then you must also include phrases such as "dog training" "how to train dogs" etc.

Do not try to stuff your blog post title with keywords, instead try to use all these keywords in the opening paragraph of your blog post, but make sure that you do not stuff keywords, let the writing be natural and written for the readers instead of the search engine bots.

3. proper labels and related posts

Label adds to the keyword density of the post. Labels should be widened rather than putting them into the single narrow category. I will explain this point by an example. Consider a situation when you are posting about Google chrome and putting them into label Windows software’s or browser. Here you will miss keywords like Chrome browser, Google chrome, etc. which would otherwise add to the keyword density of the whole post. Labels also affect related posts widgets in Blogger And if there are so many posts tagged with similar labels , it would affect the arrangement of articles in related posts.

4. Internal Linking SEO
Many bloggers fail to optimize their internal links or even they don’t link their posts to each other internally. This is really a big mistake that we must avoid. Internal linking not only increases our blog page views but also help our posts to rank well in search engines. If you are also doing the same mistake, then you must need some tips to optimize your internal links.

5. Nofollow external links
Nofollow is an HTML attribute specified on hyperlinks to block search engine advantage of external links in a website. In Blogger, you can select HTML section of the post window and add rel=”nofollow” attribute just after URL to prevent search engines from crawling a particular link.

6. Backlinks

Backlinks are something that ought to be built naturally, do not really worry much about getting backlinks to your blog, if you have good content, backlinks will automatically follow. But there are certain things you can do to make sure you get a good number of quality backlinks to your blogger blog.

•Writing Great Content
•Asking Other Bloggers For Backlinks
•Blog Commenting
•Forum Posting
•Directory Submission
•Linking Back From Your Other Blogs

These are some of the natural link building methods. You may also want to look at this list of dofollow blogs where a comment earns you a backlink, remember, this blog too is a dofollow blog

7. Sitemaps For Blogger Blogs

Generating a submitting a blogger sitemap to your webmaster tools account can help your blog pages to be indexed faster into Google search and also help the search bots find all your internal pages easily.Learn more about sitemaps for blogger blogs and how to generate it here - Add Sitemap To Blogger

8. Custom Robots.txt
Search engine bots like Googlebot (Web Crawling Robot of Google) needs some guidelines on how they have to crawl and index our blog. We can prevent some non-important pages labels pages from indexing in Google to protect our blog from duplicate content issues.

9. Format comment section
The Comment section should be no-followed and moderated to avoid spam comments. Try to include the post keywords when you are replying to reader comments. This would also add up to the total keyword density of the post. Since Google have integrated Google plus comment form with , I highly recommend you to enable it. This will ensure that you get higher social media interaction and share for your post.

10.Meta Tags

If you are an SEO newbie, then Meta Tags may seem daunting to you, but do not worry, blogger has an automatic meta tag feature that you can use without knowing any coding at all. While writing meta tags, you must ensure that you write for people reading the description in the search engines and not for the search bots.

Imagine if a person reads the description of your page on Google Search and sees this "Dog Training, Training Dogs, How To Train a dog.....etc" he is not going to like it, as it seems like a repetition of the title again.Instead try for a meta description tag like this "Learn some good and easy ways to train your faithful friend, your pet, a dog". People will be more inclined to click on the second option rather than the first.

The meta keyword tag is no longer used by any search engines, so do not waste your time on that.

Webmasters / Why You Should Use A Custom Domain Name For Your Blog by KoboUP(m): 2:39pm On Dec 20, 2015
Usually, a URL is something like domain..com, and a custom domain name is www.domain.com, This actually makes sense, as is free, and you need less technical skills to get started. From a learner perspective, it’s a zero investment, and return is high, if you plan to stick to platform it is a good idea to get a custom domain name for your blog. This will help you in many ways, which I will explain below:

1. Domain names are cheap
Buying a domain name is pretty cheap, you can easily get good domain name ending with .com or .org in between $10-$13. You can buy .com domain name for cheap from DomainKing.

2. Seriousness towards blogging
You have been working a lot on your blogs, but without a nice layout, template and domain name, people will not feel that you are very serious about blogging. One simple reason you are not ready to spend few dollars for the thing which you love.

3. SEO advantage:
Later on when you plan to migrate your blog to WordPress, custom domain name will ensure that you will not miss out link juice, and your migration will be more search engine friendly.

4.Branding
Using your custom domain name, you can use it to brand yourself easily. Use a nice logo, favico and banner to brand yourself. You can look for WordPress like themes to give an entire new look to your blogs.

5.Social media sites
being a free platform, is often targeted by spammers, and this is one reason they are less likely to be trusted by people on social media sites. When you use a custom name for your blog, this removes that first impression of a free blog. Do remember, Social media users doesn’t hate but they don’t even love it.

6.Web promotion
Talking about web promotion, which starts from social media sites to link building, most of the top websites doesn’t like giving a link back to domain. If you will notice WordPress Blogs blogroll, it will be hard to find a domain there.

Webmasters / 15 Easy Ways To Make Money Online by KoboUP(m): 11:43am On Dec 19, 2015
If you are willing to dedicate some time and effort, it is possible to make money online. Some jobs, such as taking surveys or testing websites, provide only enough money for some spare cash each month. Other jobs, such as publishing a niche website or doing freelance writing, have the potential to earn you as much as a full-time job.

1. Website Building
If the internet is a country, then websites are like real estates. I’m hoping by now you have a general understanding that real estates are valuable in the physical world – digital real estates work the same way. By building a website, you’re creating your own plot of online “land.”
You can fill this land with whatever you want, but you have to promote it through social media (and anywhere else you can think of) for this to be successful. When you build traffic to your land, you can sell people whatever you have to offer. In order to build a website, you need a host (i.e GoDaddy), a template (i.e WordPress), and content.
The first two parts are easy to find, and content is only as difficult as you make it. You can post blogs, items for sale, pictures, videos, or whatever you want. Opening up your own website gives you the potential to make money from the avenues I’m going to mention.

2. Take surveys. You can earn $50 to $100 per month in cash and products by taking online surveys. Find survey sites by searching for “paid survey sites” online. Sign up for several survey sites to increase your chances of being selected for higher-paying surveys. Register with an email address, and check your email often so you can respond quickly to survey offers.

•Most surveys pay from $1 to $3, and the surveys generally take up to 45 minutes to complete.
•You might also get paid in gift cards, free products or by being entered in a sweepstakes.
•Never pay to participate in surveys.
•Look for a privacy policy displayed prominently on the site so you know that they are not selling your personal information.

3- Become a Mystery Shopper
Mystery shopping is becoming a popular method for companies for evaluating the performance and customer service skills of their employees.
Although, there are a lot of different opinions about this, mystery shopping is actually growing as an industry.
You will be assigned to shop and dine in different places and report your experience back.
Depending on specific assignments, you can expect to be paid anywhere from $40 to $300 or more per assignment.
Of course, the amount that you spend buying goods and services will be reimbursed. Sometimes you get to keep the item you bought at no charge to you.

4. Google Adsense
If that sounds like too much technical information for you, there is an easy button – Google’s advertising platform is as simple as signing up, enabling (on Blogger) or pasting a small code on your website, and allowing the advertisements to automatically roll in. The problem with this program is that you don’t get any commissions – and you don’t get to control the ad content. This is useful for some, but powerful users will want something a little more robust.

5.Tutor students. Many families prefer the flexibility of using an online tutor. Depending on your background, you could be simply helping a child with homework or providing college-level support. You need to have your own computer and high speed internet. Experience required differs among companies. Some require “strong experience,” while others require a specific educational background. However, most companies do require a college degree.

•Some companies assign students to you, while others post your profile on their site and let customers select you.
•You can make anywhere from $9 to $30 per hour based on your educational background and the subject you teach.
•Sites that hire elementary-level tutors include Tutor.com, HomeworkHelp.com, Eduwizards, Aim4a and Brainfuse.
•Kaplan hires SAT and ACT tutors

6. Company Referral Programs
Speaking of the benefits of permanent ads, banners and links aren’t the only ways to earn a little bit of dough off your online endeavors. By having a website, you gain the power of emailing companies to ask them for things. I have no shame in letting the yoga company whose mat I’m looking into purchasing know that I have a blog and write for yoga publications – it sometimes gets me discounts.
Other times, I gain a valuable business contact in PR, advertising, or other aspects of corporate sales. Sometimes I just get a free drink. Either way, money in and of itself is worthless. Ditch the middle man and use the internet to barter what you have and can do for what you need.

7.Do Freelance Writing

One of the most popular options when it comes to Internet money-making is freelance writing.
You don’t need any money to invest, there is no need to own a website, (although having one helps) and best of all, you can make quick money.
In most cases, you get paid the same day you finish the project.
There are tons of places online where you can offer your writing service to others. There are even some websites that pay you for writing exclusive content for them.

8.Review Products and Websites

Set up a website or a blog, and start reviewing stuff.
Website owners and bloggers will pay you to post a review of their site on your site. It helps them get the word out, and helps you get the dough.
You can also review products you are an affiliate of, on your site, linking to the merchant’s site using your especial affiliate link, so that whenever someone buys the products using your link, you get your commission.

9.Blogging
I make the bulk of my money from blogging. In addition to the advertising revenue streams mentioned above, I also receive flat rate payments for blogging from various blogs throughout the web. I’m paid to write as a whistleblower, financial analyst, reviewer, commentator, and more. Writing for other sites builds traffic to my personal blog. The traffic for this blog gives me clout to present to advertisers.
To create your own blog, you don’t even need a web domain. You can start a completely free blog on either WordPress or Blogger. Each of these sites has its ups and downs, but you can’t beat the price. You generally want to keep blog posts between 150-500 words until you have a few dozen under your belt. Links between your blog posts encourage people to stay on your blog once they find it, increasing traffic. Once your blog is up, promote it on social media for the greatest effect.

10. Social Media
No matter what you do to make money online, promote it on your social media accounts. You have a base of people who are already interested in you and have a vested interest in your brand – why would you not want to take advantage of that? By promoting yourself and your projects on your social media accounts, you’re greatly increasing the chances of people actually giving you money in exchange for your goods and services. Stop being shy and get out there.

11.Design Logos
Hundreds of new websites and blogs are born everyday.
Most of them will need a logo.
But not every site owner knows how to make a logo.
If you have some design talent, you can create a small business out of it, offering custom logo creations on webmaster related forums and classified ads sites.
Don’t have a professional software?
Use free imaging tools such as PhotoFilter to make stunning logos

12.Become a YouTube Star
One way to use YouTube is to use it as a tool to make yourself known.
In this age of YouTube and instant super stardom, it’s not very far-fetched to think you can become a star if you can sing.
YouTube and other video sharing sites make it possible and easy for anyone to have a chance to be discovered by record label companies.
Of course, there are other ways to use YouTube as a money-making platform as well.
For example; you can create product review videos, place your affiliate link in the video, and earn commission for every sale that is generated by your link..

13. Create and Sell e-Books

You can make e-Books about anything.
It’s not as hard as you think.
Look at some e-Books that are selling for $50 -$100 or even more, and you see what I mean (most of them are crap, but people do pay for them!).
Got tasty recipes that you have learned from your grand ma!?
Turn all that knowledge into a mouth-watering e-Book with step by step guide on how to make those recipes.
The best part is that it won’t cost you a penny.
That’s right, you can write and create an e-Book for free!

14. Be a Game Tester
Becoming a paid game tester is truly a fun way to earn some extra cash, but sadly finding legitimate companies to work for is no fun at all.
Lots of scams in this industry. So, you have to do your homework if you don’t want to be gamed, yourself.
I have been hearing about it for a log time, but to be honest, I have never came across any legit paid game testing site.
Although, I haven’t been looking hard either. But if I do find one, I will update this page with the new information. So, be sure to bookmark this page and check back.

15. Sell Craft and Art Work Online
Retired and have lots of free time on your hand? Enjoy creating stunning works of art?
If so, turn your free time and skills into a profit-making machine, by creating artworks, and selling them online either on your own site, or on eBay, Craigslist, Etsy, and other similar sites.

Webmasters / 10 Thoughts On How Blogging Impacts Life by KoboUP(m): 8:22am On Dec 19, 2015
1. You’ll become a better writer. At its core, writing is communication. It is about recording thoughts on paper and compelling others to agree with them. To that end, writing (just like every other form of communication that has ever existed) improves with practice. Blogging will not force you to become a better writer, it’ll just happen as you do it. And becoming a better writer holds important benefits for the rest of your life—whether you are creating a book, a presentation, a résumé, or an anniversary card for your spouse.

2. You’ll become a better thinker. Because the process of writing includes recording thoughts on paper, the blogging process encourages you to stop and think deeper. You will delve deeper into the matters of your life and the worldview that shapes them. Unfortunately, at this point, many will choose not to blog (or write at all) based on the faulty reasoning that they “have nothing to say.” But to that line of thinking I always respond the same way, maybe you just haven’t discovered yet what you have to say.

3. You’ll live a more intentional life. Once you start writing about your life and the thoughts that shape it, you’ll begin thinking more intentionally about who you are, who you are becoming, and whether you like what you see or not. And that just may be reason enough to get started.

4. You’ll develop an eye for meaningful things. By necessity, blogging requires a filter. It’s simply not possible to write about every event, every thought, and every happening in your life. Instead, blogging is a never-ending process of choosing to articulate the most meaningful events and the most important thoughts. This process of choice helps you develop an eye for meaningful things. And remember that sometimes the most meaningful things appear in the most mundane—but you’ll see what I mean once you get started.

5. It’ll lead to healthier life habits. Blogging requires time, devotion, commitment, and discipline. And just to be clear, those are all good things to embrace – they will help you get the most out of your days and life. Since beginning to blog, I have become an early riser, a runner, and can now properly identify my favorite drink at Starbuck’s (Caramel Macchiato). And even if those three habits don’t personally appeal to you, blogging will provide opportunity for new life habits to emerge in yours.

6. You’ll meet new people. Whether it be through comments, e-mails, or social media, you may be surprised at how quickly you meet people on-line. And by meet people, I mean legitimately form relationships that seek to serve one another. The blogging community is friendly, encouraging, and genuinely cheering for you to succeed—the only thing missing is you.

7. You’ll make some money. You don’t need to make money to enjoy blogging. In fact, sometimes making money from your blog can actually start to distract you from the joy that you found in the first place. That being said, whether you make $20/year or $20,000/year, it’s still pretty nice to have a hobby that actually pays you back.

8. You’ll inspire others. Blogging not only changes your life, it also changes the life of the reader. And because blogs are free for the audience and open to the public, on many levels, it is an act of giving. It is a selfless act of service to invest your time, energy, and worldview into a piece of writing and then offer it free to anybody who wants to read it. Others will find inspiration in your writing… and that’s a wonderful feeling.

9. You’ll become more well-rounded in your mindset. After all, blogging is an exercise in give-and-take. One of the greatest differences between blogging and traditional publishing is the opportunity for readers to offer input. As the blog’s writer, you introduce a topic that you feel is significant and meaningful. You take time to lay out a subject in the minds of your readers and offer your thoughts on the topic. Then, the readers get to respond. And often times, their responses in the comment section challenge us to take a new, fresh look at the very topic we thought was so important in the first place.

10. It’s free. Your blog can begin today without spending a single penny now (or ever). I use WordPress and highly recommend it. With an initial investment of $0, why not give it a shot? Or for just a few dollars/month, you can use your very own domain name. I use and recommend Bluehost.

Webmasters / Reasons Why You Should Develop A Mobile App For Your Blog/website by KoboUP(m): 3:40pm On Dec 17, 2015
Mobile apps are now integral part of almost every business, irrespective of their size and industry. Several small industries too have profited from developing mobile apps. While most small businesses have their own Website, it is indeed more profitable for them to also develop a mobile app.

Here are reasons why you should develop a mobile app for your blog/website :
1.Business apps establish an element of convenience for your customers, often keeping the level of interaction in the palms of their hands and reducing the need for on-site visits – a convenience for both!
2.New prospects will come when they see your app in the marketplace. Customers also talk to each other: “Hey, Bob! I just got this awesome app from [insert business name here] that lets you make mobile purchases of its awesome products/services!”
3.With regards to Android applications, you end up squandering less money into proprietary development environments and licensing, allowing you to just focus on development.
4.Also particular to Android apps, you will also get the benefit of an open-sourced API, which will help you modify the application to naturally fit the needs of the environment it will launch in.
5.Intelligent business owners from both small and large companies make their own apps to benefit from an extra revenue stream without having to worry about losses in the long run.

Webmasters / 7 Ways To Get More Website/blog Page Views by KoboUP(m): 10:51am On Dec 16, 2015
I value page views more than any other measure of blog success, such as Subscribers or raw traffic. page views are the life blood of a successful blog in my opinion, and frankly, I wish I had more of them.

Okay, that may be a bit vague.

So here are 10 specific strategies you can begin to implement today and start getting more blog subscribers right away.

1).Killer Articles (1 hour per day)

Spend one hour brainstorming, researching and writing killer articles (also called linkbaits, pillar articles and so on).

Notice that your goal is to release one killer article every week. If that is not possible aim for one every 15 days. So the one hour that you will spend every day will be dedicated to the same piece. In other words, expect killers articles to take from 5 up to 10 hours of work.

If you are not familiar with the term, a killer article is nothing more than a long and structured article that has the goal of delivering a huge amount of value to potential visitors. If you have a web design blog, for example, you could write an article with “100 Free Resources for Designers”. Here are some ideas for killer articles:

create a giant list of resources, write a detailed tutorial teaching people how to do something, find a solution for a common problem in your niche and write about it, or write a deep analysis on a topic where people have only talked superficially

When visitors come across your killer article, you want them to have the following reaction: “Holy crap! This is awesome. I better bookmark it. Heck, I better even mention this on my site and on my Twitter account, to let my readers and friends know about it.”

2. Be laser focused

Make sure you are primarily focusing on a particular topic, and the more specialized that topic is, the better you’ll do. It’s also key to step back and evaluate whether there are enough prospective readers in your chosen niche. It’s better to be brutally honest with yourself than to toil away and end up disappointed.

3). Promotion

The first activity here is the promotion of your killer articles. Whenever you publish one of them, you should push it in any way you can. Examples include:

letting the people in your network know about it (don’t beg for a link though), letting bloggers and webmasters in relevant niches know about it, getting some friends to submit the article to social bookmarking sites, getting some friends to Twitter the article, and posting about the article in online forums and/or newsgroups.

If there is time left, spend it with search engine optimization, social media marketing and activities to promote your blog as whole. Those can range from keyword research to promoting your blog on Facebook and guest blogging.

4). Offer a bribe

Relax, it’s nothing illegal. It’s an ethical bribe, in the form of a free ebook, report, e-course or audio series. Typically this only works with email subscriptions tied to autoresponders, because you want to condition delivery of the bonus on subscription.

But here’s a nifty way to do it with RSS:

If you have a WordPress blog, use the free Feedvertising plugin to link to the download page for your free gift. Since Feedvertising links only show up in the feed (and not in the post), only feed subscribers will see the link and have access to the bonus.

5). Become a guest blogger

Contributing content to someone else’s blog may seem crazy, but it’s a solid strategy to gain exposure for your own blog and build your subscriber base. Just make it very clear to the blog owner that you require a very brief byline at the end of the post, with a link back to your site. And make sure it’s original content, not something recycled off of your blog.

6). Post in forums

A tried and true technique since the earliest days of the Internet is to be a helpful, proactive participant in forums that are important in your niche. People will notice that you are offering yourself up to others, and will be more inclined to see what else you have to offer with your blog

7). Cross-promotional deals

Work out a deal where you both promote each other in your RSS feeds. If one blog has way more subscribers than the other, work out a ratio deal, the smaller blog would promote the other blog continuously, while the larger blog would reserve one slot for the smaller blog, and use the other slots for other cross-promotion deals, affiliate links, or sponsor ads.

So there you have it, with one additional word of caution.

All of the above presupposes that you are producing the best content you can. If you honestly cannot say that you are doing your best work content-wise, start there. But afterward, using some or all of the above will definitely increase your Page Views.

Business / The Ultimate Company Logo Creation Guide by KoboUP(m): 6:51pm On Dec 15, 2015
Your logo is a visual representation of everything your company stands for. Think of McDonald's golden arches or the Nike swoosh-these two impressive logos embody these companies well. But many companies still skimp on developing this key identity piece.

Ideally, your company logo enhances potential customers and partners' crucial first impression of your business. A good logo can build loyalty between your business and your customers, establish a brand identity, and provide the professional look of an established enterprise.

Consider Allstate's "good hands" logo. It immediately generates a warm feeling for the company, symbolizing care and trust. With a little thought and creativity, your logo can quickly and graphically express many positive attributes of your business, too.

Logo Types

There are basically three kinds of logos. Font-based logos consist primarily of a type treatment. The logos of IBM, Microsoft and Sony, for instance, use type treatments with a twist that makes them distinctive. Then there are logos that literally illustrate what a company does, such as when a house-painting company uses an illustration of a brush in its logo. And finally, there are abstract graphic symbols-such as Nike's swoosh-that become linked to a company's brand.

"Such a symbol is meaningless until your company can communicate to consumers what its underlying associations are," says Americus Reed II, a marketing professor at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School, who's conducted research on the triggers that lead consumers to identify with and become loyal to a brand. But building that mental bridge takes time and money. The Nike swoosh has no inherent meaning outside of what's been created over the years through savvy marketing efforts that have transformed the logo into an "identity cue" for an athletic lifestyle.

Growing businesses can rarely afford the millions of dollars and years of effort required to create these associations, so a logo that clearly illustrates what your company stands for or does may be a better choice. Even a type treatment of your company's name may be too generic, says Placitas, New Mexico, logo designer Gary Priester, principal of gwpriester.com, the Web arm of design firm The Black Point Group. Priester believes customers should be able to tell what you do just by looking at your logo.

Getting Started

Before you begin sketching or learning how to design a logo, first articulate the message you want your logo to convey. Try writing a one-sentence image and mission statement to help focus your efforts. Stay true to this statement while creating your logo.

But that may not be enough to get you started. Here are some additional tactics and considerations that will help you create an appropriate company logo:

Look at the logos of other businesses in your industry. Do your competitors use solid, conservative images, or flashy graphics and type? Think about how you want to differentiate your logo from those of your competition.

Focus on your message. Decide what you want to communicate about your company. Does it have a distinct personality-serious or lighthearted? What makes it unique in relation to your competition? What's the nature of your current target audience? These elements should play an important role in the overall design or redesign.

Make it clean and functional. Your logo should work as well on a business card as on the side of a truck. A good logo should be scalable, easy to reproduce, memorable and distinctive. Icons are better than photographs, which may be indecipherable if enlarged or reduced significantly. And be sure to create a logo that can be reproduced in black and white so that it can be faxed, photocopied or used in a black-and-white ad as effectively as in color.

Your business name will affect your logo design. If your business name is "grin.C. Jewelers," you may wish to use a classy, serif font to accent the letters (especially if your name features initials). For a company called "Lightning Bolt Printing," the logo might feature some creative implementation of-you guessed it-a lightning bolt.

Use your logo to illustrate your business's key benefit. The best logos make an immediate statement with a picture or illustration, not words. The "Lightning Bolt Printing" logo, for example, may need to convey the business benefit of "ultra-fast, guaranteed printing services." The lightning bolt image could be manipulated to suggest speed and assurance.

Don't use clip art. However tempting it may be, clip art can be copied too easily. Not only will original art make a more impressive statement about your company, but it'll set your business apart from others.

Avoid trendy looks. If you're redesigning your old logo, you run the risk of confusing customers-or worse, alienating them. One option is to make gradual logo changes. According to Priester, Quaker Oats modified the Quaker man on its package over a 10-year period to avoid undermining customer confidence. But don't plan to make multiple logo changes. Instead, choose a logo that will stay current for 10 to 20 years, perhaps longer. That's the mark of a good design. In fact, when Priester designs a logo, he expects never to see that client again.

Watch Your Colors

One thing you need to be careful of as you explore color options is cost. Your five-color logo may be gorgeous, but once it comes time to produce it on stationery, the price won't be so attractive. Nor will it work in mediums that only allow one or two colors. Try not to exceed three colors unless you decide it's absolutely necessary.

Your logo can appear on a variety of media: signage, advertising, stationery, delivery vehicles and packaging, to name just a few. Remember that some of those applications have production limitations. Make sure you do a color study. Look at your logo in one-, two-and three-color versions.

Hire a Designer

While brainstorming logo ideas by yourself is a crucial step in creating your business image, trying to create a logo completely on your own is a mistake. It may seem like the best way to avoid the high costs of going to a professional design firm, which will charge anywhere from $4,000 to $15,000 for a logo design. Be aware, however, that there are thousands of independent designers around who charge much less. According to Stan Evenson, founder of Evenson Design Group, entrepreneurs on a tight budget should shop around for a designer. "There are a lot of [freelance] designers who charge rates ranging from $15 to $150 per hour, based on their experience," he says.

But don't hire someone just because of their bargain price. Find a designer who's familiar with your field . . . and with your competition. If the cost still seems exorbitant, Evenson says, "remember that a good logo should last at least 10 years. If you look at the amortization of that cost over a 10-year period, it doesn't seem so bad."

Even if you have a good eye for color and a sense of what you want your logo to look like, you should still consult a professional designer. Why? They know whether or not a logo design will transfer easily into print or onto a sign, while you might come up with a beautiful design that can't be transferred or would cost too much money to be printed. Your logo is the foundation of all your promotional materials, so this is one area where spending a little more now can really pay off later.

Using and Protecting Your Logo

Once you've produced a logo that embodies your company's mission at a glance, make sure you trademark it to protect it from use by other companies. You can apply for a trademark at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Web site.

Then, once it's protected, use it everywhere you can-on business cards, stationery, letterhead, brochures, ads, your Web site and any other place where you mention your company name. This will help build your image, raise your company's visibility and, ideally, lead to more business.

Creating a logo sounds easy, doesn't it? It can be. Just remember to keep your customers and the nature of your business in mind when you put it all together. In time, you'll have succeeded in building equity in your trademark, and it will become a positive and recognizable symbol of your product or service.

Business / Top 6 Ways To Monitize Your Website/blog by KoboUP(m): 8:27am On Dec 15, 2015
1) Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is a very popular way to make money through your website/blog. In short, you sell (or recommend) someone else’s product(s) on your website. When your website visitor clicks on your affiliate link and buys the product – you’ll receive commission.

The commission is usually 30% – 70% of the product or service price. So if you promote an e-book that costs $100, you’ll get $50 for referring the buyer (just an example).

2) Pay Per Click Advertising

Google has made a program called Google Adsense for publishers (bloggers, website owners) and advertisers (business owners, marketers, product owners).

This system is quite simple. You place a code on your website that will start displaying relevant ads to your website. For example, if your site is about pets (dogs & cats), Google Adsense will start showing your visitors ads for cat food, dog training and so on.

When someone clicks on the ad, you will receive money for this click. It’s usually $0,5 to $5 per click, but when your site has enough traffic – you can make hundreds if not thousands of dollars per month. Keep yourself known with their TOS, though.

How to apply for for Google Adsense?

Apply for AdSense – Before applying, keep yourself updated with their TOS, though. Google is very strict with their rules so it’s pretty hard to get approved.

3) Sell your own digital product (ebook for example)

Selling your own product is awesome because there are no middle mans, no one is going to take the “cut” – it’s only YOU and the CLIENT. You can sell directly through your website and you’ll get paid directly. While it looks like a simply way to make money, it’s actually not.

It takes a lot of time to create a good product that you can actually sell through your site. So make sure it’s well-made and polished before you throw it out on your webpage. In addition, a perfectly optimized landing page for the product is essential to higher your conversion rates.

4) Selling Ad Space

As the name says, all you need to do is sell the ad space. You set up a price, let’s say: “Banner at the sidebar will cost $Bleep per month”. You will get paid upfront and the price depends on your traffic. If your site gets ton loads of traffic from different sources, the banner ad price can go up as $5000 per month. However, if your site doesn’t have much traffic, don’t expect much.

5) Accept sponsored posts & articles

Once your site is getting good amount of visitors monthly, you can offer sponsored posts and articles. There are a lot of advertisers who would be interested in writing sponsored posts for your website.

Another option is make money through reviewing something. Here’s an example: You have a website about Apple products -> marketer from Apple sees your site and contacts you.-> He/she offers you a free iPhone 5 if you make a comprehensive review and post it on your site for followers to read.

Webmasters / Free Ways To Promote Your Website/blog Online And Offline by KoboUP(m): 3:00pm On Dec 14, 2015
If you have no previous experience with site promotion, you’re likely reaching for a bottle of Aspirin right now. But fear not, promoting your website isn’t only simple, it can be done without even spending a penny!

Below is a list of opportunities to promote your site online for free! With the right time and effort, you can find yourself attracting a whole slew of new clients to your great looking site!

Social Media

If you are trying to get reach on the internet and you don't have a Facebook page, LinkedIn account, Google+ page and Twitter username, shame on you! All of these provide absolutely free listings on websites with extremely high Google page rankings. They're the most significant social media websites on the web.

Online Directories:

The modern day Yellow Pages, online directories are where potential clients turn to to find business solutions. Adding your site to online directories is extremely important as it greatly improves your site’s SEO by linking back to your website. When submitting your site, make sure to include important details like your location and business category so that your website will appear in sub-categories where new and potential clients can easily find you.

Yelp

Google Business

Yahoo Local

TripAdvisor

Yellow Pages

Super Pages

Angie’s List

Manta

DexKnows

BBB

Merchant Circle

Put your URL on everything:

Maximize your advertising efforts by listing your Web site address on everything you do. Print the URL on your company’s letterhead, on your business cards, on the front of your building or the door to your office suite. Use the URL in your e-mail signature. List the URL on any print advertising that you do, including phone books, brochures, flyers, and direct mail pieces

Excellent customer service:

There’s no advertising like personal recommendations made between friends and family. The best way to encourage this type of “viral marketing” is to provide excellent customer service. Take the time to properly train and motivate your sales people and do what is necessary to satisfy your customers’ needs

Photo Sharing

Similarly to social network sites like Pinterest and Polyvore, photo sharing sites give you the opportunity to display visual content that is related to your business, and can be used to refer and link back to your website. Photo sharing sites are not for photographers alone –any business can use these sites to post images of events, coworkers, news and everything in between, as long as it’s connected to your biz.

Join online communities:

No matter what the topic, there are thousands of people discussing it passionately on the Internet. By contributing to these discussion groups, you can inform your customers and advertise your business.

For example one of Nigeria's biggest forums http://www.nairaland.com/ is a free platform for you to share your contents, the good thin about this website is that all you have to do is create an account and start sharing your contents for free.

Search Engines

It may or may not surprise you to hear that the majority of traffic from the internet is derived from search engines. With that said, search engines should be the first place that you should turn to to promote your online presence. Ensure that search engines know that your site exists by submitting your link directly to them. Once that’s out of the way, the best way to improve your search engine presence is by taking the time to improve your SEO.

Right now, the search engines that generate the most traffic are:

Google

Yahoo

Bing

Publish information and reports about your industry:

Provide consumers with free information about your business’ industry. Invest in potential customers and they will invest in you.

Business / Ways To Make Money Online [.part 1.] by KoboUP(m): 4:49pm On Nov 10, 2015
So it turns out that the internet is good for more than just porn and video games – you can make money off it too! Think of the internet as a giant country called Imaginationland. By playing your cards right, you can make some easy money online doing things you’re already doing. Here are some lifehacks to start you off:

2. B2B Marketing

An online business model I love is utilized by GetVoiP, an affiliate marketer based in New York. GetVoiP acts as an agent for business communication providers. They maintain updated listings of VoiP providers, including ratings, comparisons, consumer reviews, in-depth knowledge of market and end-user trends, and expert opinions from business professionals on a variety of topics related to business consumers. By not only keeping abreast of news, but providing detailed analysis of products being offered, GetVoiP is able to generate traffic to their site and increase their clout with businesses.

The more online clout you have as a business, the more money you’ll make. If you’re known for making lasting connections (as is the case with GetVoiP above), then you’ll have no issues building your online brand. You’ll be recognized in your community and begin to build a buzz in your industry. Tracking your numbers (how many people view your site, click each ad, and make a purchase from that click) gives you the leverage to expand this part of your business, enabling you to continue building your online rep.

4. Amazon Associates

Amazon has an Associates program for site owners and bloggers. They offer a search tool to find the right products and services from their site and a variety of ad styles to display on your site, including text-based and banner images (digital billboards) like this:

Each item purchased through your Amazon links give you a commission. It doesn’t take high volume traffic to achieve results, either. I began making money with the program when I only had 1,000 hits per month on my site. They can apply your earnings to your Amazon account balance, issue you a check, or direct deposit into your bank account. If you love Amazon, you’ll love their associate’s program. Click here for another Lifehack dedicated to Amazon Associates.

5. Rakuten Linkshare

Amazon and Google are far from your only options for online advertising. Rakuten Linkshare is a great place to search for other affiliates for your ads. Through their program, you can get customized ad links, email links, and banner ads for Starbucks, Walmart, iTunes, and a slew of other popular brands. With this program, you can also find smaller companies, regional or specialized brands, and more. I run a combination of Google, Amazon, and Rakuten’s programs, and my monthly income is approximately $150 from these programs. It’s not a lot of money, but it’s also not a lot of work for residual (it means recurring…since the ads are permanent…) income.

7. Klout

If you have a social media account, try out Klout. The company tracks your social media usage, determines how big and what type of audience you draw based on the subject matter of your updates and posts. Using this information, you’re qualified to receive free items, tickets, etc. Check their website often to find ways of earning free stuff by doing what you’re already doing online…boring the rest of us…

8. EBay

If you have anything you want to sell, then EBay is the place you need to seriously consider doing it first. Personally I’m not a fan of the site because of the work it takes to build up a reputation. If you’re willing to grind through that process, you’ll be rewarded with many privileges – people have gotten rich selling books about how they got rich selling everything on EBay: Click here for a few tips from the pros.

9. Amazon

If you start getting too big for EBay or decide you want to try a different flavor, Amazon has a marketplace as well. I prefer using Amazon because I can depend on their shipping, have a Prime account, and trust their reviews (overall, not usually singularly, although occasionally that as well). Learn more about Amazon’s marketplace by clicking on this Lifehack, and delve into the marketplace.

The difference between Amazon and EBay is that EBay (though still filled with new items) is seen as a used marketplace between individual parties, whereas Amazon (which is filled with offers for new and used merchandise from the 3 rd parties) is viewed as a Wal-Mart-type superstore. As a consumer, this difference leads me to use Amazon, so it only makes sense to target on my own demographic.

10. Etsy

If you’re crafty (and I mean that in more than one way, wink wink), you’ll enjoy Etsy. Handcrafted items are the bread and butter here. Plenty of people make decent side money on the site, which is basically an EBay for crafters and artists. Set up a sellers account with Etsy, and you’ll be asked to set up your virtual storefront and put up at least 5 goods for sale.

Once you have this down, you’ll be a budding Etsy entrepreneur. Provide great quality to your customers, and they’ll often return. Many people are willing to pay a premium for quality handmade designs. Etsy (like EBay and Amazon) takes a cut off the top for selling items through their site. PayPal takes another cut, and you have to be careful with taxes on all income, so be diligent while building your online business.

Health / Reasons Why Pregnant Women Shouldn’t Drink Alcohol by KoboUP(m): 3:25pm On Nov 10, 2015
If you’re pregnant, you know better than to binge drink, which is defined as having more than 4 servings of an alcoholic beverage at one setting. But can pregnant women consume alcohol in small amounts? What about just one mimosa at that brunch with your friends? Before reaching out for it, check out this article below to find out why pregnant women shouldn’t consume any alcohol.

1. You have been warned —again!

Recently, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) renewed its warning that women who are pregnant should not be consuming any alcohol whatsoever.

So why is this important? The American Academy of Pediatrics is made up of 64,000 pediatricians, pediatric specialists and pediatric surgeons from all over the country and is considered to be one of the foremost American organizations in the area of children’s health. This warning that they issued recently is an updated, reinforced Surgeon General’s Warning (which is widely known to do its appearance on alcoholic products). This warning serves as a “best practice” guideline for doctors working with pregnant women —and also to make moms-to-be aware of the danger to their unborn baby.

Warnings like this are nothing new—they have been issued since the 1970s!

2. You could have a baby with FASD.

Drinking during pregnancy leads to a risk of a baby being born with facial deformities and with a number of neurological issues including behavioral problems, difficulties with social interaction, and cognitive problems such as impaired memory and mathematical skills and difficulties with problem-solving. Together, this collection of birth defects is known as Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD).

There is no cure for FASD. Your child will have the deformities and the neurological problems for the rest of their lives. And according to the CDC, FASD is one hundred percent preventable—just don’t drink while you are pregnant!

3. You are putting your baby at risk for depression.

FASD is not the only consequence your child will have to face if you drink while you are pregnant. According to patient education from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), you are also putting your child at a greater risk for depression later on in life. As a matter of fact, one study found that children of mothers who drank while pregnant were at much higher risk for depression that begins in early childhood —and usually means a lifelong struggle against this mental illness.

4. You drink—and your baby drinks too.

Alcohol—in moderation—actually has many health benefits, particularly red wine which contains resveratrol, an antioxidant associated with hearth health—and the health of the brain! So why, if its good for an adult, is it bad for mom and baby? As the CDC also points out in its patient education, alcohol, unfortunately, passes from the mom’s bloodstream directly into the baby’s via its umbilical cord. So if you drink—your baby drinks too.

An unborn baby is not able to break down alcohol the way its mother can and this alcohol can damage your baby’s nervous system before it is ever born—especially if your drink in your first trimester. The fact is that everything you eat and drink can potentially affect your baby in either a positive or negative way, that is why nutrition and abstinence from alcohol when pregnant is so important for moms-to-be.

Pregnancy can be a very stressful time for a woman—especially if she has financial or other concerns that are affecting her health. And stress is a very common cause for drinking. If you are struggling with a drinking problem and are pregnant, talk to your ob-gyn and find out what resources are available to help you kick the habit—and have a safe and healthy pregnancy.

Phones / How To Minimize Data Consumption On Ios by KoboUP(m): 10:08am On Nov 10, 2015
By Rita Ohai

If you are having a hard time staying keeping your data plan within your budget, then this is for you! As with most video streaming channels, there’s always a cute funny video to watch, or an Instagram feed to browse through. More often than not, it can be a tough call knowing how much data your phone is consuming if the link you are about to click will be the content that drives you to over-usage limits.

Tip 1

If you own an iOS8i, look out for to Settings icon and tap on the bar written ‘Cellular’. At the bottom of the pop-up bar, scroll over to the ‘UseCellular Data For’ section and click.

Tip 2

Once the first few steps are done, a list of every app on your device will show on the screen with the option of disabling or enabling the use of cellular data available by toggling a button to the right. Although you can use disabled apps most of the time, they simply will not undergo an update while you’re away from a WiFi connection.

Tip 3

To be extra sure, you have the right application under your radar, look through the list to see the amount of data being used during a period of time and then make sound judgements on which to mute.

Tip 4

To clean out your data history, scroll all the way down to the bottom of the screen and you will find a highlighted section showing ‘Reset Statistics’. By tapping on this, you can start monitoring your history on a clean slate.

Career / 5 Strategies For Waking Up On Time (infographic) by KoboUP(m): 4:08pm On Nov 08, 2015
Many of us struggle with not only waking up but getting out of bed, which isn’t the most encouraging way to start the day. Fortunately, it’s possible to develop habits that will make waking up less of a struggle. Below are five tips to get you started.

1. Develop a nighttime routine

Before you do anything else, make sure you’re going to bed early enough to get the the amount of sleep you need. For most people, that’s approximately 8 hours.

For those who suffer from insomnia, develop a regular routine around bedtime so you can fall asleep and stay asleep. Try activities such as taking a hot bath or shower in a dimly lit room, writing a to-do list for the next day or praying or meditating until you begin to feel sleepy.

It’s important to keep a regular bedtime and wake-up time even on days off. This allows the body’s internal clock to maintain a regular rhythm, making it easier to get up. If your wake-up time is consistently changing, your body will feel as if it’s in a constant state of jet lag.

2. Turn off all electronics

Turn off your television, computers, laptops, tablets and smartphones 30 minutes to one hour prior to getting into bed. The bright light from these devices reduces the amount of melatonin we produce, making it more difficult to fall asleep and maintain sleep.

As a rule, use the bedroom for sleep and intimacy only.

3. Don’t abuse the snooze

When you get enough sleep, you should be “stirring” for a few minutes prior to your alarm clock going off. When it does go off, hit the snooze alarm ONE time. After you hit the snooze button, turn on a bedside lamp. Before getting out of bed, try to do some light stretching for the low back until your snooze alarm goes off again. When it goes off for the second time, get out of bed.

4. Pay attention to temperature

If you have a programmable thermostat, set it so that the room becomes warmer 30 minutes prior to the alarm going off. We become sleepy when our core body temperature lowers and we wake up when our core temperature rises. At night, the ideal temperature is between 65 to 68 degrees. In the morning, the ideal temperature is around 72 degrees.

5. Let the light in

After you get out of bed, expose yourself to as much light as you possibly can. If the sun is up, open shades and let the sunshine in. If the sun has not risen, turn on bright lights or purchase a small light therapy box to simulate sunshine. Bright light has been shown to boost alertness and improve mood.

Fashion / How To Get Rid Of Wrinkles, Dark Spots, Stretch Marks by KoboUP(m): 4:02pm On Nov 08, 2015
Some things, like fine wine and leather jackets, get better with age. Unfortunately, your skin is not one of those things. Sun, collagen loss, pregnancy and stress all contribute to dark spots, wrinkles and scars—and the sooner you come up with a treatment plan, the better. Dr. Eric Schweiger, board certified dermatologist and RealSelf advisor, offers his advice for when it’s time to head to the dermatologist’s office to fix a variety of common skin issues.

Stretch Marks:

See the derm: When your stretch marks are still newly formed and red. After 9 to 12 months, they can turn white or silver. “Wait until after you have given birth to have any elective treatments on stretch marks,” warns Dr. Schweiger.

The treatment: An average of four or more laser treatments (Fraxel is most commonly used) for permanent results

Fine Lines:

See the derm: As soon as they start to become noticeable and bothersome

The treatment: Botox treatment around the eyes and forehead every six months; at-home use of a hydrating eye cream; daily SPF 30 wear; UV protective sunglasses. “Botox will work on any wrinkles, but it does work better before the wrinkles get too deep, so I recommend treatment earlier rather than later in patients who develop unwanted wrinkles,” says Dr. Schweiger.

Dark Spots:

See the derm: As soon as you notice new light spots that look like freckles or grayish brown darkening on the cheeks, bridge of the nose, under-eyes or upper lip (areas where melasma typically develops)

The treatment: Intense Pulse Light treats freckles, brown spots, sun damage and melasma on the skin. After one to two weeks, the pigmentation should fade to noticeably more uniform skin.

Sagging Skin:

See the derm: As soon as you start to notice looser skin

The treatment: Ultherapy and Thermage are non-invasive treatment options; Thermage uses radio frequency while Ultherapy uses ultrasound waves to stimulate collagen and tighten the skin. “Both are great for face and body, but Ultherapy works particularly well for decolletage, chin and neck, and Thermage can be used to target the eye area,” says Dr. Schweiger.

Acne Scars:

See the derm: As soon any active acne lesions have cleared up, but the scars have not

The treatment: For redness or dark marks (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation), chemical peels or a topical lightening treatment; for indentations, filler injections can provide a temporary solution (they last about six to eight months) and a laser treatment such as the Focal Acne Scar Treatment (F.A.S.T)® procedure, which uses the fractional CO2 laser in a more targeted way, can provide a more permanent fix.

Sunburns:

See the derm: Immediately if the burn is blistering, swelling or you have streaks of red near an open blister; if you aren’t experiencing severe symptoms, at-home cooling and moisturizing treatments should repair the burn.

The treatment: LED red light laser therapy will help to decrease inflammation and promote healing of the burn. The aging effects of sun damage may not appear for many years, but with each burn, you’re creating more and more damage to the skin that is harder to recover from.

Injury Scars:

See the derm: Six weeks after the cut

The treatment: Apply petroleum jelly to the active wound to keep it from forming a scab; laser treatment and silicone creams from your dermatologist can prevent the scar from becoming permanent.
