The chief agent of forgiveness is the Holy Spirit, it's through him that the work done by Christ long ago reconnects us back to God.
For me the sin that cannot be forgiven which is against the holy spirit is not recognizing or believing that forgiveness is possible through him... How can one obtain forgiveness when he doesn't believe in the one that offers it in the first place...it is placing oneself beyond the reach of God's mercy for he can never force himself on you...
Again this my opinion....thank you...open to criticisms anyway...
