St. Matthew 26:7 There came unto him a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat at meat.

This is equivalent of paying of tithe, since the woman motives was to bless Jesus who at that time was a messagener of God, sharing God's word to the world.

St. Matthew 26:8 But when his disciples saw it, they had indignation, saying, To what purpose is this waste?
St. Matthew 26:9 For this ointment might have been sold for much, and given to the poor.

Clearly, you will notice that the disciples reaction to what the woman did is similar to the reaction we get today, where you will hear people saying it's better to give to the poor than to pay tithe.

St. Matthew 26:10 When Jesus understood it, he said unto them, Why trouble ye the woman? for she hath wrought a good work upon me.
St. Matthew 26:11 For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always.

Now this is Jesus response, He never rebuked the woman, rather he acknowledged her kind gestures and rebuked His disciples instead.


Now I am not saying giving to the poor is wrong but if you remove 10% from your income, you will have 90% to take care for yourself and the needy. Simple and shot.

First of all tithing is a spiritual princinple and I dont expect a carnal man to understand the things of the spirit so if you are not a true Christian then I don't expect you to understand where I am coming from.


In the beginning, we Christians should remember that we are the seed of Abraham, and as the seed of Abraham, we should walk like him. For example Abraham showed complete and total faith in God Almighty and so should we as the spiritual seed of Abraham.


Now the issue of tithing is this;

Tithing can be defined as the act of acknowledging the presence of God in your life by giving 10% fraction of your income to the messenger of God. The messenger of God is the person that bring to you the word of God daily.


Abraham payed his tithe to a messenger of God in the person of Melchizedek.

The children of isreal who were the direct seed of Abraham also did the same thing by acknowledging the messengers of God which were the tribe of levi as at that time.
