There was a farmer who had a horse and a goat. One day, the horse became ill.So he called the veterinarian, who said, "Well, your horse has a virus. He must take this medicine for three days. I'll come back on the third day and if he's not better, we will have to kill her." Standing nearby, the goat listened closely to their conversation. The next day, they gave the horse the medicine and left. The goat approached the horse and said, “Be strong my friend. Get up or else they're going to kill you!” On the second day, they again gave the horse the medicine and left. The goat came back and said,"Come on buddy, get up or else you're going to die! Come on, I'll help you get up. Let's go! One, two, three..." On the third day, they came to give the horse the medicine and the vet said, "Unfortunately, we're going to kill her tomorrow. Otherwise, the virus might spread and infect the other horses."After they left, the goat approached the horse and said, "Listen pal, it's now or never! Get up, come on! Have courage! Come on... Get up... Get up... That's it, slowly... Great! Come on, one, two, three... Good, good. Now faster, come on... Fantastic! Run, run more! Yes! Yes! Yes! You did it, you're a champion!" All of a sudden, the owner came back, saw the horse running in the field and began shouting, "It's a miracle! My horse is cured. We must have a grand party." He called his servant, "John, kill and prepare the goat and let's celebrate". Now I pray for you reading this, any help you render will not turn against you in the Name of G0D. Type AMEN |

With his two goals in the 3-1 victory over Cardiff City at Anfield, Liverpool striker became the first player to score 10 goals in a calendar month in the Barclays Premier League. The Uruguayan's opening strike at Anfield took him clear of Mark Viduka's record of eight goals for Leeds United in April 2003. Suarez then struck another to be the first player to reach double figures inside a month. The double also meant he becomes the first player to score at two goals in four consecutive Barclays Premier League matches. WIth two more Barclays Premier League fixtures to come in December, against Manchester City on Boxing Day, then away to Chelsea on 29 December, Suarez could extend his record even further. Suarez's total of 19 goals in the Barclays Premier League this season is the most at this stage of a season and it is also putting the striker ahead of the rate to become the highest goalscorer during a 38-match season. This joint-record of 31 goals is held by Alan Shearer for Blackburn Rovers in the 1995/96 season and Cristiano Ronaldo for Manchester United during the 2007/08 season. After 17 matchweeks, Shearer had scored 16 goals, while Ronaldo had 11. The overall record for the most goals in a season is held jointly by Andrew Cole, for Newcastle United in 1993/94 and Shearer, the next season. At his present rate of goals, Suarez is set to eclipse those records, too. The goal for Raheem Sterling that Suarez set up against Cardiff took the Uruguayan's total of assists to six this season, one more than he got in the previous campaign. Politics / Gov Aregbesola To Create 27 More Local Government by kodedmag(m): 7:37am On Dec 17, 2013 |
| credits: File copy Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State on Monday presented a bill for the creation of 27 additional local government development councils in the state to the state House of Assembly. The News Agency of Nigeria reported that while presenting the bill, Aregbesola said the essence of the creation of more councils was to bring government closer to the people at the grassroots. He said that the current councils in the state could not bring the desired results. The governor said this was because they were too large to achieve what the administration intended to achieve through the councils. He stressed that the only way to guarantee even development at the grassroots was to create new councils that would be precise, transparent and people-oriented. “Sincerely, if this bill is eventually passed to law, the new development councils will not be a hindrance to the existing ones at all; it will just increase the quality of representation at the grassroots. “As a law-abiding government, the creation was properly done in line with the stipulation of section 7 and 8 of the 1999 Constitution and it will co-exist with the existing ones mutually,” Aregbesola said. The governor, however, enjoined the existing councils to be ready to make sacrifices as there would be a reduction in their emolument. The Speaker of the house, Mr. Najeem Salam, said the creation of the councils would improve the quality of governance. He called on traditional rulers, community and religious leaders to point out any grey areas perceived in the structure of the councils to avert friction. NAN reported that if the new councils were created, their number would increase to 57. |
