Car Talk › Re: Avalon Vs Camry — Which Would You Pick? by koko3: 7:51pm On May 18 |
You said it all. It shows you're knowledgeable Louiscars: Honestly from the stand point of a concierge/mechanic, I’d pick the Camry and here’s why - resale value/ resale demand When I looked out for old listings of the Avalon and Camry 4 years back compared to now the Avalon actually has a 135 percent increase inc value compared to the Camry’s 80 percent increment, but realistically you’d obviously want to recoup your cash back quickly when you want to sell and here the Camry would win easily in the sense that it’ll sell faster - Maintenance wise; from the picture you sent you’d be comparing the V6 in the Avalon to the 4plugs Camry, maintenance would be a little cheaper on the Camry. - Fuel Economy ; Camry wins with a better fuel economy - comfort - Honestly, it’s really hard to pick but the Avalon wins being a flagship model for the American market compared to the Camry - Availability of part - you can’t really go wrong with either, part are readily available but can be pricy when it comes to major part like engine/ electrical parts like the pcs system radar sensor and the likes - overall package; They both don’t have a lot of ground clearance but I’d say the Camry wins here. from the looks of things the Camry seems like a viable option for you, thank you. |
Car Talk › Re: My Car Cranks Dry For 1 Second After Being Parked For Hours by koko3: 8:07pm On Apr 28 |
It's normal for a car to crank when you start it first in the day. This is because before the oil pump supply oil to the camshaft in the top cylinder.
However, if the sound persist, just change the camshaft. It's between 15k - 20k |

As a first time car user, avoid Ford by all means. Though, the car is very reliable and strong but it's expensive to maintain. Secondly, should your ford develop over heating, half of the engine will be pieces before the water pump can be accessed. More so, you won't get Ford Specialist/Mechanic until you get to Ojuelegba.
ACURA MDX is a very good car as well but the parts are too expensive.
Forget about the other brands because of second hand value.
However, I will recommend you still go for Honda. Crosstour has its own defects too as no car is 100% perfect but Honda is a good brand. Their engine last longer compared to that of Toyota but Toyota has second hand value more than Honda. You can look the direction of Honda Accord from 2013.
As a first timer, consider the following:
Availability and Affordability of Parts
Availability of a Specialist/Mechanic
Second Hand Value of the car. You won't use the car forever, so why buy a car that you cannot quickly disposed to get another. |

I paid 280k for 2 bedroom flat and the project is around Itori after Ewekoro in Ogun State.
For 3 bedroom, it shouldn't be more than 320k to 350k.
Outsource the job to them outrightly. Don't pay them on a daily basis, they will extend the work beyond normal. |

You sounded like an intelligent fool. I don't engage in online debate because many of you resorted to insult and deviate from logic. Just keep your opinion to yourself. casualobserver: The problem with Many of you is that you are small minded, think like simpletons and cannot see the big picture. The purpose of the conference is to source for funds for climate related and green energy projects.. When you hear for example that one village is being electrified with solar, or solar water pumps or solar boreholes, farming irrigation, flood abatement programs, this is often where the money comes from. If you are not there to present your green energy plans, you will not be a beneficiary. Most of the money is free money, not loans.
UAE alone is handing out $4b to Africa at this conference. Is it a country that isn’t there they will give the money to? Is it a ministry that isn’t there they will give the money to? US is also allocating $3b to Africa, other countries are making pledges. If you are not there you cannot benefit.
Yes there are people out there for a jamboree but there will be more funds coming to Nigeria than the total bill for the entire Nigerian delegation public and private.
The least Nigeria can expect out of what UAE alone is allocating to Africa is $300m…likely a lot more. The total cost assuming all 1400 participants are government sponsored (not so) and all actually attended (again not so) @$15k a head is $20m
You are the same people that if you hear another country received funding from COP will come here shouting why was Nigeria not there when they were sharing free money we could have used to recharge dry lakes, control flooding, provide irrigation for farmers, electrify villages, convert vehicles to CNG etc? |
