History And Evolution Of Third World Countries

Abstract

In 1952, a French demographer named Alfred Sauvy coined the term, “Third World” following the onslaught of the Cold War. Strictly speaking, “Third World”, which evolved from the three-world model developed during the Cold War, was a political, rather than an economic method of grouping countries. It was nothing but a political ideology of the time used for the classification of countries. Today, however, such a method of ...

Phones / Facebook Is Wasting Your Data: See How To Reduce It Now. by KOKOHANDS: 9:13am On Feb 28, 2019
Facebook and other graphics-heavy sites are the highest consumers of your internet data. I realized this today while going through settings >> data saver on my Chrome mobile browser.

As you see in the pic attached, the data volume consumed by Facebook alone is by far greater than the rest of the sites I've browsed.

If you're a heavy user of Facebook on mobile browser like me, this is the reason your (our) browsing data finishes so fast. The worst is using Facebook on PC.

These things are not caused by our village people but rather, us and our fancies.

Now that we know the culprit of browsing data wastage (Facebook), what can we do to ameliorate the problem?

I have recommended the following solutions:

1. Use Facebook lite mobile app (not the main Facebook app).

Although I'm yet to prove this, I've heard Facebook lite app consumes less data than Facebook on browser or the main Facebook browser. I've used both the lite version and the main version of Facebook apps...don't see much difference between both - just slight changes.

2. Upload lesser graphics and of lower Mb size while facebooking.

3. Reduce your rate of streaming Facebook videos.

4. Try to trim distractions while on Facebook. To achieved this, focus on what you came to Facebook for and avoid what is trying to distort your focus.

Being on Facebook 24/7 is not an achievement unless you're making money in the process. Else, its simply a sign of joblessless and irresponsibility.

5. Close your facebook app when not in use.

6. Turn off your internet data when not in use.

I hope this helped.

By the way, what other means do you recommend to reduce browsing data wastage on Facebook?

Please comment below.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Why The Level Of Unemployment Rate Is High In Nigeria by KOKOHANDS: 8:28am On Feb 06, 2019
Well, I do not totally agree for while on the orientation camp, there was a debate on whether the NYSC should be scrapped or not...and the answers were inconclusive, at least for me.

I don't want to reiterate the gains and pains of the NYSC but I want to say that NYSC is not the cause of unemployment in this country.

Rather, unemployment in Nigeria is a monster of many faces of which the unemployed is one, the government is one (maybe that is where you can add NYSC to other things like poor curriculum, course content, lack of or insufficient infrastructure to fast track a BALANCED education, weak academic policies), with other monsters being half-baked teachers, tutors, lecturers, examination and other malpractices and the lack of desire and/or resources to get functional (practical ans professional) education while in or after schooling.

In all these, therefore, you can see that the monsters are MANY and NYSC alone cannot be blamed for inside that NYSC, people made money, learned new skills or developed upon what they knew already, made transcultural connections, developed new ideas, visited new places, and many more gains. These are what I gained as a corper in 2015. I don't know of others. I never relied on Federal Government's N19,800 and...I rejected an offer to be employed by a school then which was willing to top my alowee with at least N10k monthly...for I went there with my brain, never got money from home but from I knew before service.

So, why not think of creating your own jobs instead of waiting for someone to pay you N50k? All you need is the knowledge of how to turn a problem into a solution, how to market the solution to many people, and how to put this on auto-pilot. that's all.

I'm Ekemini "KOKOHANDS" Ekpo.

Literature / It's High-time You Ditched Copyscape! by KOKOHANDS: 7:05am On Jan 14, 2019
When I started off writing at the professional level, my mentor introduced me to a method of checking Plagiarism (for free). I still thank my mentor for that exposure because it gave me the jumpstart into what will be more interesting in the years to come.

By the way, I am Ekemini Ekpo known better as Mr. Kokohands. I am that writer who paid his school fees, still pays his bills and lives his best off writing, yes, any kind of writing.

Now, back to the matter...

As I said, I started off checking plagiarism using free tools my boss showed me and the topmost of them at the time was smallseotools.com/plagiarism-checker/. I know some of you still use that to check plagiarism or maybe choose it's sister, duplichecker.com[/b] or it's cousin, plagscan.com.

Well, it's ok ...at least when you don't have the money to pay for premium plagiarism checkers...

..poor fellow (i didn't really mean that). I'm only saying that it will take you some time before you can break even in the writing game.

But how about trying a premium plagiarism checker like the much-glorified "Copyscape". A thousand and one out there say that "Copyscape" is the holy grail of plagiarism checking, and I say, "you guys are crazy!"

Yes, fuggin crazy!! (sorry for repeating it, no I really mean it!)

It takes me nothing to fool Copyscape. One of the methods of fooling Copyscape is the one my other mentor taught me; I mean the one I bought his course for N10, 000 while trying to get on Fiverr in those days. It works just as fine as the one I discovered for myself about 2 years later.

That is why when people try to fool me, like the guys that tried that last week when I posted an offer on this forum requesting for writers, I laugh at them.

See that job offer here: https://www.nairaland.com/4943406/earn-n5000-weekly-writing-simple

Truth is, Copyscape has serious flaws and any serious writer must please shun it just like I did (yes, with a few remaining cents inside). Thank goodness, I didn't even buy many credits (just $5). Today, I'd be crying foul (sorry, Pigeon or Turtle)

Its high time you ditched Copyscape. Copyscape is just the senior brother of smallseotools.com, duplichecker, and co.

Let's do a review together. Which platform do you think works better?

I'm using quetext.com for now which costs just $9.9 per month ....and anyone trying to fool me again with that one is in for a big, big run for his time, money, and energy. Quetext beats Copyscape hands down. I'll be back with some proofs.

Education / Re: My Advice To Nigerian Students During This ASUU Strike – Get Useful! by KOKOHANDS: 8:02pm On Jan 12, 2019
And that's a good thing to do. Keep it up.
Preetti:
Already working.
Education / My Advice To Nigerian Students During This ASUU Strike – Get Useful! by KOKOHANDS: 9:22am On Jan 12, 2019
My advice to Students during this ASUU strike is to find something useful to do with their lives as Schooling is no guarantee for success in life.

ASUU strike is not new to Nigeria. When I was in school, this strike lasted for 6 months on a stretch or thereabout, not mentioning the others in-between and other turmoil which made us all have a COMPULSORY 1-year extension to our stay in School, not as if we had Extra year from academic mishap caused by us! No, it was things like this.

But while in school and while the strike lasted, I was useful to myself. I brushed up my skills and invested heavily in business within those 5 years. Today, I am not disappointed in myself because I can comfortably feed myself and do other basic things with my skills NOT because of my B. Eng. Degree in Computer Engineering but something completely unrelated to what I studied as a course in school.

So, here is the catch students... stop thinking that your success in life is tied to ASUU, schooling or earning a certificate. Rather, WAKE UP, and SIT UP!

In fact, forget about school!

Schooling in Nigeria to a large extent is a fuggin waste of time, I tell you.

The irony of it is that a majority (over 99.9%) of those with whom I went to school with ARE NOT FEEDING on their degrees in the real sense of the word, Career!

Out of this percentage, a good number are still looking up to their parents for pocket money, clothing and money for Recharge Card!

What a disappointment!

So, after we graduated, I find Law graduates turning bloggers, engineering graduates working as "politicians", Mass Comm. students becoming Classroom teachers, Pharmacy students working in banks, etc. A long list of these folks are now into Ponzi schemes, click to earn programmes (which is not bad anyway, as a side income and not fulltime job), scamming (too bad), Yahoo plus, etc.

So, the question, therefore, remains, what did these folks waste 4-5 good years (plus extra years), for?

Please, if you're a student listening to or reading this now, hear this.... our leaders don't wish us well!

They have watered down the curriculum or worst still sustained outdated stuff in the curriculum so that we cannot be SELF-RELIANT after schooling!;

They have allowed Greed to beguile them (ASUU vs. Federal Government); everyone wants to drive Prado Jeep and live in Banana Island;

They have recruited incompetent folks to man lecture venues and classrooms as lecturers and teachers;

They have allowed examination and other malpractices to become a trademark and/or the order of the day in the education system in the country from the primary to the tertiary level;

Youths, let's not repeat the mistakes of our non-enlightened elders who believe that schooling is a sine qua none to prosperity and success in life.

Yet, time and history have shown that that is far from the truth. Schooling without education is a watse of time! Don't allow ASUU make you feel that your destiny depends on Schooling which is what is practiced in most Nigerian school, and NOT education!

Discussing the problem without stating the solution is as bad as taking you to the cliff of a mountain and asking you to jump off by yourself without any guide.

So, the solutions are simple:

1. Ask yourself this: WHAT CAN I REALLY DO? WHAT AM I REALLY BEST AT?

2. When you are able to settle with yourself what you can do which is your dream, look for how to build it into a SALEABLE PRODUCT.

To achieve this, you can do the following:

1. go for training. There are lots of free training you can enroll online or offline. Sometimes, you have to pay for these training and these usually don't cost so much. Gather that money you use for fruitless dressing, partying, drinking, smoking or chasing girls and use it to brush up your skills

3. Brand and position yourself.

4. Market!
The funny thing is that you can learn all these for almost free online. All you need is internet subscription data and seriousness. When there is a will, there certainly will be a way out. It’s all about the mindset.

I am Ekemini Ekpo (a.k.a Mr. KOKOHANDS). I am that guy who paid his fees, funds his bills, and still feeds from writing and other relevant ICT skills. I believe this guide which could have fetched me some few $$ if published on some top sites will help you.

Stay blessed.

What are you looking for @Tonieokey? Attention or applause?

As a family man that you claim to be, I'd expect more sanity from you. If you're given an offer, and you don't like it what is the point blowing trumpet?

Its not by force to take an offer. Its an option. its a free world. but when you come back to make light of the offer, then, you make yourself a mediocre.

On a normal day, I'd not reply you. But then, sometime, silence is not golden.

STOP DISCOURAGING PEOPLE FROM MAKING AND TAKING OFFERS. I pay what I can afford. Who have you ever paid on this platform?

Its more honourable that I pay what I can afford than to make fake promises. Ask about me, I don't owe, never!

Check my profile very well, I'm a well known person in this game.

I hate silliness such as this from SUPPOSEDLY MATURE ADULTS!

STOP IT!
