Most of you have heard different tales about the notorious Bariga. Here are photos from a part of the area. This side is the Araromi street side of Bariga which is dominated by the 'Ilajes' and the 'Eguns' and their most popular occupation there is fishing because the area faces the ocean around the Third Mainland Bridge. Here, there is extreme poverty, as in E-X-T-R-E-M-E P-O-V-E-R-T-Y. Most of the women roast fish to survive, many of the ladies and guys take to all types of vices. There is only one school in the area(pictured below) provided by a white man who visited the area sometime ago. Yet, there are all sorts of talents in there. From rapping to dancing, the youths of the Barigahood possess them in abundants. But it looks like government sees the people in this slum as outcasts because development is far away from that area, yet it's in a Mega City called Lagos. Past government rather than contributing to developing the area, visit some parts to destroy houses and render many homeless Thus, the people have come to develop a deep hatred for the word 'government'. Meanwhile, the guys and babes in this hood no dey smile at all O and their eyes dey red die! (if you know what we mean) http://www.newseveryhour.com/2016/01/inside-notorious-bariga-ghetto-where.html

Whatever happened to good old customer service! Our reporter witnessed a very sad incident this afternoon, 25th January, 2016 inside UBA Bank, Ketu branch. There was the usual long queue inside the banking hall. This elderly man who had been standing in the long queue for close to an hour finally reached his turn but was denied a chance to withdraw. The man got angry and started raising his voice explaining that he has been transacting with the bank since 47 years ago, almost every week and he has completed his BVN; so how come they are now claiming not to have his information? The frustrated elderly man ranted profusely for over 15 minutes sweating. Shockingly, no staff of the bank came close to address the aggrieved customer even as they walk pass him going about other activities. After a while, the man who was still sweating stormed out of the banking hall still mad. Is this the best way UBA knows how to address its dissatisfied customers? Despite the obvious risks, these men won't be put off from exercising their faith and beefing up their luck. They volunteered to be trampled upon by cows in the belief it brings good luck. The villagers are seen lying down on the streets of Ujjain, in Madhya, central India, to mark Ekadeshi, an auspicious day after the Hindu festival of Diwali. The organisers claim no one has ever been killed in the centuries old tradition, those who are injured believe they'll have good luck as the wounds heal. The cows, an animal considered sacred in Hinduism, are decorated in henna and colourful floral headdresses before they are let loose to storm through the city. The cows stamp on the men's backs as they run through the narrow streets while spectators usher the animals towards the men, making sure that every one is stepped on. The belief is that the cows can help erase any problems and brings prosperity into their lives. One regular participant, Manoj Kumar, 27, said he is well aware of the dangers but is tempted by the prospects of improved fortunes. He said: 'I know it can be fatal but cow is our mother and she would not kill anyone so there is no danger at all. Sometimes when the mother is angry she punishes us for our mistakes. 'Most of us are unhappy with something or other in our life. We all have problems whether at home or work. But we believe if we allow us to get crushed by cows, the almighty will appreciate our sacrifice and pain and solve all our issues and bless us with happiness.'
