View of the top........
Big boss,
Don't you think that using marine board for this decking would've been more cost effective as the price of the boards has dropped a bit in the market and the boards will also be reused for the second decking.

The decking platform looks solid though.

Oga spyder,

Do you do or know someone that does ashphalting?

A client of mine wants to do it.

I'd also like to knw if there's any advantage of using ashphalt over interlock apart from the algae that grows on the interlock in some locations.

Please Koman, hpw much is the metcopo per square meter? I am interested in using it for my project which is at the roofing stage now
The average price between the corrugation companies I buy from is as follows:

0.45mm btw 1,350 -1,400 naira per metre square

0.55mm btm 1,550 - 1,600 naira per metre square

I'll advice you to use first aluminum NUT BROWN or TRAFFIC BLACK because years of usage has proven they can stand the test of time.

We don't have thunder arrestors around the building, what we call the thunder arrestor is the pointer which is usually mounted on the king post of the roof where it could protect the house. However we have other apparatus which when combined with the arrestor, will form the thunder protection mechanism.

These collection of items include

1. The earthing rod (as shown in your later pictures)

2. The copper tape (which connects the arrestor with the earthing rod below the surface)

3. The copper clips (which secures the copper tape to the wall as it runs from the roof into the ground)

4. A bag of salt

5. A bag of charcoal

All these will be used by trained technicians in a combination that will give the building protection against the negative effects of thunder strikes. I have also noticed the type they mount with wires attached to the earthing rod. I have not tested the efficiency of that system of doing it.
There's no arestor on top of this building, they buried them at the four conners of the building and they are connected with the yellow & green insulated copper cable.
I was at the site today to fix the windows and checked very well no arestor is mounted at the king post.
I wanted to ask the engineer the advantages but he left before I could ask.

@koman . pls what is the roofing wood demand of this metcoppo compared to stone coated roofing sheets

And what's the price range for the wardrobes?
As for the wardrobes, the price depends on the dimension, type of material & accessories to used.

Basically there are two types of boards that can be for this kind if wardrobe namely
# minimum density fibreboard (MDF) &
# high density fibreboard (HDF)

The two boards have the same finish and appeal when you look at it but HDF is stronger and more expensive. A sheet of mdf is sold between N4,700 & N5,000 while hdf is between N8,000 & N8,500 in PH.

The price range varies,
for a wardrobe of 1.8 x2.1m or 6 x 7"
Using mdf will cost 60k while
Hdf will cost 85k.

The sliding door comes at extra cost,
The same size of wardrobe will cost 110k.

And what's the price range for the wardrobes?
From my observations, the stone coated tiles requires 3/4 extra quantity of wood from what is needed for woodwork of metcoppo tiles.

The reason for the extra quantity of wood is
1) stone tiles comes in small sheets ot 400 x1000mm , so it requires a spacing of 370mm between the pole lines while
Metcoppo requires a spacing of 400 - 460mm for good installation.

2) stone tiles are very heavy compared to aluminum sheets so it calls for more reenforcement,
Which means you need more wood for your tie beam, struts and king post to avoid lagging or sagging in the future.

This is very nice. I still prefer the coffee black color to traffic black. I wouldn't mind any of the two colors. With the picture you uploaded, I don't see anything wrong using 0.45mm. It is now Metcoppo Step Tile for me or nothing. Finding the right company with the right machine to do the pressing is going to be the daunting task.

By the way, where did you get those Metcoppo roofing pictures?
I did the installation .

I run small firm that undertakes
# installation of roofing sheets
# aluminum windows
# wardrobes & cabinets
# Pvc ceiling installation and
# doors

The color is called TRAFFIC BLACK,
FAN product but from a good corrugation company.

If your doing a project in PH and intend using metcoppo tiles, I'll suggest you buy from Vinal Aluminium.
They produced this particular tiles and the gauge is 0.45mm.
Dont use 0.45mm for your flashes pls,
0.55mm is best for the flashes cus it gives you a neat finish.

I have been told to stay away from those stone coated roofing sheets because the sand always washing away after five years. I have heard from my roofing guy that they are overrated. As a matter of fact, they are too expensive and consume twice amount of wood regular long span takes. I don't like it anyway.
You just highlighted yhe issues I have with stone coated roof tiles.
Lemme also tell you that FAN and Tower doses not necessarily have the best corrugation machine.
The beauty of metcoppo depends on how good the corrugation machine is.
Like I said earlier, look for a company that has good corrugation machine and buy from them.

Which of these two companies do you suggest in terms of buying 0.55mm Metcoppo Aluminium Sheets? Some people say Tower Aluminium PLC is the better of the two to buy from while others say First Aluminium PLC. What do you think?
Look for a company that has good corrugation machine that uses FAN plc product and buy your 0.55mm metcopo sheet.
I'll suggest you buy TRAFFIC BLACK cus the finish looks like black stone coated roof tiles.

Last bullet

FAN is better than tower.

I think using brushes on the wall after plastering gives it a better finish, Just my opinion though.
I knw it can easily be taken care of by screeding the walls.

2) The impact on people (socially, medically, judicially and financially)
3) what benefits will acrue to the government from legalising marijuana a.k.a weed, mary J, igbo, indomie, kush, laclaro etc. grin grin grin
HealthSome States In US To Legalise The Use of Marijuana A.k.a IGBO by koman(op):
US states take jump as legal marijuana markets open

Washington (AFP) - In a country known for its drug war and where Bill Clinton once caught hell for admitting to smoking pot, new ground is being broken: legal marijuana markets in two states.

The pioneers of this sea change are out west, in Colorado and Washington, and grassroots support for their experiment is strong.

Marijuana consumption is legal and regulated for medical purposes in 19 US states, in some cases for the past 20 years. And in most of them, private consumption of pot is not classified as a crime.

But Colorado and Washington are taking a big jump forward. They are creating a pot market in which local authorities will oversee growing, distribution and marketing -- all of it legal -- for people to get high just for the fun of it.

In Colorado, famous for its Rocky Mountain ski resorts, at least 130 licenses have been issued for small shops which, starting January 1, will be able to sell up to 28 grams of marijuana to people aged 21 or older.

Another 300 applications for licenses are pending. The pot sold in shops will come from private, licensed growers.

In Colorado, consumption, possession and domestic growing of pot in small amounts were already allowed. But sales of it were not. This left the door open for drug dealers to operate.

In legal terms, smoking pot will be subject to the same rules and obligations as those governing alcohol. People will not be able to smoke it in public or grow it on public land.

In Washington, the framework for the new system is laid out, although the first licenses for legal sales of marijuana are not expected to be issued until mid-2014.

Other states are watching these experiments closely and pondering similar legislation.

"Two states down, 48 to go," said Ethan Nadelmann, executive director of the Drug Policy Alliance.

He told AFP that Colorado and Washington have left behind a debate on "how do we lock people up, how do we arrest more people, how do we drug-test more people, into a much more adult and mature conversation about how do we sensibly regulate this commodity in a way that advances public safety and public health."

How the plans develop in Colorado and Washington is key because the rest of the country is watching.

"It is important that they do this right, because providing good leadership and making the transition to legalization of marijuana in a responsible way is important for how the rest of the country perceives this. There is a responsibility to do it in a smart and mature way," said Nadelmann.

All this represents not just a new approach but also a judicial problem. Although the marijuana trade will become legal in those two states, it will remain illegal at the national level.

So the possibility of Drug Enforcement Administration agents raiding licensed stores in Colorado or Washington or arresting people triggered formal debate at the Justice Department.

In the end, after intense consultations, the agency announced in August that it renounced the right to challenge the new pot laws in the two states.

Nadelmann said the US experience has big ramifications abroad. To wit, Uruguay is about to legalize marijuana altogether and become the first country to do so.

"What Uruguay is going to do next week is inspired in part by what happens in the US," he said.

Much is said of the Netherlands, whose marijuana policy is often misinterpreted and was recently amended.

Holland never formally legalized consumption of marijuana but rather adopted a policy of tolerance of low-level consumption. It is considered a public health issue, not a law enforcement one. Growing and distributing marijuana is still illegal in the Netherlands.

So the policy always relied on something impossible to hide: clandestine supplying of the country's famous hash and pot cafes.

Still, Holland is divided between those who favor formal legalization of marijuana and those who are sick of "marijuana tourists" who go to the Netherlands to get high.

So several Dutch cities have denied foreign tourists access to the free-wheeling cafes, only letting in people who can prove they live in the Netherlands
