. Nor reason am jare. It didn't happen to me per se but a female friend in Abuja. I advised her to seek the advice of a legal counsel since she signed an agreement with the landlord before renting the place that she would "solely" be in charge of taking care of the place, repairs and all and the landlord can only come for inspection. After like 8 to 9 months of her hard labour calling aboki and labourers to work on the land she is using for farming, someone will now come and say because it is his land, the harvest is his. That's not legal na. What happens to the time, money and effort she has put in ? I just feel the landlord is very greedy. This is just one tree holding just one bunch of banana and some tomatoes , pawpaw and pepper she planted. Why is he adamant on just the bananas ? Why didn't he talk about the tomatoes and pepper ? This is also very wrong. I expected him to ask to share it and not claim it to be his alone

I wanted to suggest your last paragraph but thank God you already mentioned it. Advice her to share harvest with landlord. In Naija constitution if you plant an Economic tree on a man's land he doesn't have right to clear it just like that without compensation and likewise its expected you pay for the plot for the period of your planting if the landlord request. So you see its a 50/50 thing.

NB: Gbagyi man no dey joke with his economic tree ooo. Them dey even fight government. They can go diabolical,

You are wrong bro. My uncle gave over 2,000 southerners Job during his time because he got to the top. I am a beneficiary.
Another of his beneficiary was just appointed permanent secretary recently.
He has started giving southerners Job too.
The problem is us not the northerners.
Imagine having 30 people climb up the ladder and 7 of them are Southerners, it will still be good because 7 southerners will get Job but if among the 30 no southerner, the FG can not appoint a junior southerner when there are seniors from the north. Never.
Let me tell you.
My uncle gave people Job in many government agencies and parastatals. Some are DPOs, Controllers both in immigration and customs, some are Captains in Army, navy and Air Force. They are climbing with their set, if they remain till their pick, one of them must join the top ladder because federal character is still being used where you have personnel across the geopolitical regions.
Greed is stopping us from taking what belongs to us.

Keep staying there as a southerner. Hard jobs come they'll call the southerners, time for reward it will go to a northerner. When you get to the peak they'll prefer to make your junior northerner a director and post you out to a branch. My brother it has come to stay. If you feel comfortable where you are pls remain, if you're not and have opportunity to be better pls leave. Nigeria civil service doesn't reward hard work. Mediocrity is the order of the day. Reason why nothing good comes out of it.

Finally I have painstakingly, curiously, keenly and attentively read through this thread from page 1 to this end. I have learnt so much more than I used to know about UK japa. Japa has never been my thought (as am doing well in Naija) until 3 months ago when everything began to hit the roof and I keep seeing my savings reducing value daily. Thus I developed interest of relocating to the UK through the study route but fear don dey catch me after all I have read here.

My story.
I am in my mid 30s, with a wife and 3 kids. I have Bsc Mathematics (1st class) and awaiting Msc mathematics (distinction) by December. My wife has B.Ed Mathematics Education (2:1) with TRCN.

We are planning that I apply for phd September 2025 intake as MA and wife & kids as dependents, while wifey tries the "Train to teach maths" program from now till then.

We would be able to raise 40m now till Sept 2025 and thinking if we should still consider the UK option.

Pls is there any advice we can get here on available best options we can take maybe to secure a scholarship as what I have read here has shown that there are no longer jobs in the UK like before to pay school fees through a 3 years phd. And also considering the £15k for all of us to convert to PSW visa after phd.

We are not looking at Australia and Canada because the possibility of getting PR reduces as you age.

Or is there any alternative European country we can look into (with our lean budget) where it will be easy for us (especially the kids) to blend, school and work with a view of getting PR/ILR as the case may be.
