By: Nnenna Joseph September is world Alzhimer month, one of the most common diseases on earth prevalent in people between age 65 and above but equally obtainable in younger people. World Alzheimer's Month: Let's talk about dementia to end the stigma - On Biology It is one of the greatest fears for older people in the given age bracket. It is the fear of forgetting your loved ones, the memories shared together over the years, times and season. In Nigeria there are 318 011 dementia cases, (National Center for Biotechnology Information, U.S. National Library of Medicine 2015). We readily have instances of relatives, grannies, parents, grandparents who, as they got older became unable to recognize or remember faces and persons they were abinitio familiar with. They most likely have a case of dementia or Alhzimer. It is a rough phase of life, at this point, they need all the support, reassurance and comfort they can get. Simply put, Dementia is a syndrome in which there is deterioration in memory, thinking, behaviour and the ability to perform everyday activities Is Dementia same as Alzhimer? Dementia is a syndrome, Alzhimer is a disease. Both refer to forgetfulness but it is pertinent to seek clarity on their difference. Dementia is a house while Alzhimer is a room in the house. However, their relationship is unique because Alhzimer, the disease is the cause of 50 to 70% which means when a person has Dementia, they will be checked further to know if the case is an exact case of Alhzimer. Some foremost manufacturers in the South East have appealed to President Buhari, the Federal Government to grant their companies and other manufacturers in the zone waiver on import/custom duties of relevant raw materials and machines. The manufacturers made the appeal when a delegation from the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment on assessment of the level of development at the Enugu International Trade Fair visited their factories. They added that the high cost of clearing and handling of imported raw materials remained one of the major challenges of manufacturing in Nigeria. The General Manager, Innoson Technical Company Ltd Enugu, Mr C.O. Ubah and Chief Executive Officer, Rico Groups, Eric Chime, who spoke separately, said their appeal became imperative since importers that cut corners to import finished goods were now selling at a cheaper rate than the local manufacturers. Ubah, who spoke during the visit to the Innoson Factory, said that plastic product companies in Nigeria were suffering due to the inability of the Eleme Petrochemical Company to meet the demand for its product which is the raw material for plastic product companies. By Ebuka Onyekwelu Fifty years after the Nigerian-Biafran Civil war, many Igbo people of Nigeria are yet to get over the psychological damage suffered from the devastation of that war. Although by sheer courage and enterprise, Ndi-Igbo have been able to rise from the ruins of the war, and have gone ahead in many respects with enormous success in academia, commerce and industry, much to the chagrin of the entire world. Rising from the shackles of about three years war against a stronger Nigerian side, is only a testament to the ingenuity, dexterity and tenacity of the Igbo man. Despite these successes, the Igbo nation has remained traumatized evidenced in its disposition, pattern of response to national issues and reluctance, weariness even, towards strategic positioning for utmost benefit from the Nigeria project. The Igbo nation has a main place in the Nigerian scheme; a position it nearly fully occupied pre civil war days which sharply contrasts against today’s reality and this is without prejudice to the feelings of marginalization and victimization which forms the underpinning support to the emergence of pro Biafra groups, since Nigeria’s 4th republic. The fact of this matter is that the Igbo nation’s dream can be realized in Nigeria, with or without Nigerian federal government’s assistance. But because the political imagination of the Igbo nation has shrunk and apparently not as open to innovations on governmental issues as it once was, and as such not ready for new attitudes that will make it distinguished within the context of its political marriage with Nigeria, a pattern that does not favour the Igbo has persisted. The Southeast predominantly inhabited by Igbo suffer major infrastructure deficit, which has been sustained through very poor leadership by no other but the Southeast leaders themselves. In fact, the storyline that blames southeast’s infrastructure deficit on Nigerian government alone, only but tends to fan the embers of crooked leadership in the southeast, who, arising from the foregoing, ride on such narrative to continue to deny the people the quality of governance they deserve and demand through diverse agitations. Indeed agitations in the southeast must be construed also as clear signs of government’s failure. Matter of fact is, government has failed Igbo people, not just Nigerian government but also the state governments and this failure is at the foundation of Biafra protestations. A conjuncture of civil war fatality and devastation, and the apparent government malfunction in perpetuity, laced with malfeasance; Igbo people of southeast Nigeria have been unrelenting in their war time hostility and paranoid, and these further damages any glimpse of hope at the Igbo galvanizing and leveraging on its vast material and human resources to reclaim its lost stake or redefine the prevailing order of leadership in the region. Biafra offers some hope on the basis of a promise or an assumption, that the republic holds something more honourable for the people. Yet, the republic of Biafra really is not necessarily a geographical area that needs political sovereignty to achieve set goals. Instead, Biafra represents a state of responsible and responsive leadership, of respect for the dignity and rights of man, where people live free with absolute confidence in their government and without fear or uncertainty. This is the Biafra people are clamoring for, right from pre civil war times. Nonetheless, many people have remained completely oblivion that the just and fair system ingrained in Biafra’s DNA as it were, is achievable under the Nigeria arrangement. The import of this is that rather than hold southeast governors to account or for these agitations steadily provoked by crass government ineptitude to prioritize good governance virtues and creed in the region, so that an oasis of superior and high-quality governance is consciously created; indeed a Biafran template of what government ought to be. Instead, these agitations use propaganda lacking depth, stratagem, and serious intellectual content to drive the people farther away from realizing their full potentials within. What we have is mere noisemaking with no concrete impact or implication on the scheme of things, to reposition the southeast for its best and glorious days. At best a gratuitous fixation on Biafra as a geographical area. All these further escalate the perception of danger as well as increased intolerance on both sides. Obiano, relevant security operatives, human right groups, the traditional ruler of Nnewi HRH Igwe Dr. K.O.N Orizu III and other stakeholders over the intimidation and threat to her life and that of her children since the death of her late husband Mr. Isaiah Nnadozie who died on 7th May, 2020 and was buried on 9th May, 2020 but up till now the funeral ceremony have not been conducted due to the harassments, intimidation, and threat to the family by a cabal that are bent on extorting money from them on the ground that her late husband was killed by a shrine located at Okija. According to the widow, before her husband died, he was the treasurer of UmuEzejimofor Family Meeting and one Mr. Okwudili Ibeto AKA Ekediaso was the Chairman. It happened that according to her, the chairman withdrew the sum of N350,000 from the account of the family meeting without the consent of the members, and when his action was later discovered, he alleged that her husband who was the treasurer was part of the deal and actually collected the sum of N100,000. The family meeting however insisted that the chairman must refund the N350,000 and the chairman Mr. Okwudili Ibeto insisted that her late husband should equally refund N100,000 so that he will add his own N250,000 to complete the money. Speaking further, Mrs. Ifeoma Nnadozie stated that her husband refused to pay insisting that he wasn’t part of the deal and did not collect any money from Mr. Okwudili Ibeto and later the chairman paid the N350,000 with a threat and insult that my husband must pay him the N100,000 balance. The widow also said that her husband sued Mr. Okwudili Ibeto at Magistrate Court Nnewi for defamation of character while Mr. Okwudili Ibeto reported her husband at their shrine. According to her, after sometime, a letter of invitation was brought to her husband from their shrine at Okija but her husband declined the invitation. She became troubled and went about looking for alternative ways to resolve the matter amicably but all to no avail. She went to Mr. Okwudili Ibeto for peaceful dialogue but all to no avail. Mr. Okwudili Ibeto further threatened to eliminate Mr. Isaiah Nnadozie and his entire family. She went to UmuEzejimofor Family Meeting with hot drink and native kola to involve the kinsmen in the matter but the kinsmen decided not to be third party until her husband withdraws the matter from magistrate court while Mr. Okwudili Ibeto withdraws the matter from their shrine. The widow stated that her husband actually withdrew the matter from magistrate court and presented the proof to the kinsmen but when the kinsmen asked Mr. Okwudili Ibeto to present his own withdrawal proof, he vowed not to do so and no action was taken by the kinsmen. According to her also, she went and involved her friend Mrs. Chinwe Chidolue who is also a family friend to Mr. Okwudili Ibeto’s family and when they got to his house, he ordered them out of his house and also made same threat to eliminate Mr. Isaiah Nnadozie and his entire family. On their way home, they met Mr. Okwudili Ibeto’s wife at her business place and pleaded with her to plead with her husband, Mr. Okwudili Ibeto to sheath his sword, she declined having the power to do so and advised them to go and meet Hon. Sir. Okey Nwizugbe. The widow further said that she went to meet Late Chief Isaac Mbanefo, the then presiding Chief of Obi Mbanefo of UmuEzejimofor Family Meeting to seek for further assistance in resolving the matter, Chief Isaac went inside his house to check for the contact details of the Okija Shrine but to her greatest surprise, while Chief Isaac was still inside his house for about 10 minutes, Hon. Sir. Okey Nwizugbe came in and asked her if it’s the contact details of the Okija shrine that she came for? She replied; yes. Hon. Okey asked her to come to his house and collect it. She later went to Hon. Sir. Okey Nwizugbe’s house to collect the number but Hon. Okey asked her to come back the following day that he is yet to get the number from Mr. Okwudili Ibeto. According to the widow, she went to Hon. Sir. Okey Nwizugbe’s house three times to get the number but all to no avail. Hon. Sir. Okey Nwizugbe later offered to drive her to the shrine but she declined the offer. According to the widow, later her husband fall sick and died on 7th May, 2020, buried on 9th May, 2020 and few minutes after the burial of her husband, Chief Ifeanyi Nsofor of Obi Umucheke in Egbu Umuenem Otolo Nnewi stormed her house with a shocking news; that the current chairman of UmuEzejimofor Family Meeting, Mr. Vincent Okonkwo called him to inform her and her children that Mr. Okwudili Ibeto instructed that her husband who was killed by their shrine shouldn’t be buried, that if already buried, she and her children should exhume the body and unfailing to do so, that the deceased wife and children are giving their shrine express permission to continue the killing. The calling of a person by a wooden gong is dependent on the feats he has attained in life. Such is the tale and calling of Kevin Chukwumobi, the CEO of APAMS Funeral Undertakers Nigeria Limited. Kevin was born into the family of Chief Ben Chukwumobi Ifediba (Omeokachie) & Lolo Elizabeth Amuche Ifediba from Umunuko Ukpor in Nnewi South LGA of Anambra State in the year1970. The young Kevin attended Umuwaya Road Primary School, Umuahia. He proceeded to Immaculate Conception Seminary, Ahiaeke, Umuahia for his secondary school education. On completion of his secondary school, he secured an admission to study Mass Communication at Federal Polytechnic, Okoh, Anambra State where he obtained HND in Mass Communication. Sir Kevin thereafter forayed into pharmaceuticals and coined the name of his business APAMS, which stands for Amuche Pharmaceuticals and Medical Services, a name that eventually became a national brand. His visit to Dons Funeral Home, in the United States of America would revolutionize his passion for the funeral business and propelled his vision into the funeral business. Offering innovative services in the funeral industry became his compelling desire. Like every great venture, APAMS had its own teething problems and challenges. Sir Kevin had daunting challenges getting his staff to share in his vision of honouring the dead. Again, because of the nature of the business, he had a problem of perception. But with focus and unparalleled determination, he was able to overcome all that and emerged a trailblazer in the industry. With only one panel beaten vehicle at inception, APAMS has grown in leaps and bounds, offering exotic funeral services with not just state of the art automobiles but with chariots and helicopters as well, while giving the dead a grand entry into the world beyond. Sir Kevin was right when he stated in an interview that "he had no competition". APAMS simply defines the industry while others play catch up. Engr. Gilbert Ajulu Uzodike, the Founder of Cutix Cables PLC, may not be the most successful or the richest Igbo businessman, but he has distinguished himself by doing something different most Igbo businessmen fail to do. Records have it that most businesses owned by businessmen from Igbo extraction crumble after the death of the owner. Business establishments like Ekene Dili Chukwu (Nig.) Ltd, Izuchukwu Transport, Chi So Ebere Transport, Nsoedo Motors and Hotels Limited, and other uncountable businesses have all collapsed. Igbo businessmen prefer building their businesses around their family members, rather than setting up a professional management structure. They rarely give a thought on the need to prepare an acceptable succession plan on the event of their exit. Instead of institutionalizing a management system, they favour employing or appointing only family members who most times do not possess skills to be managers and directors. Most of these business establishments do not have policies and procedures that take care of recruitment, employee conduct, finance and accounting. Chief Dr Ajulu Uzodike, the founder of Cutix Cables Plc has done something different. Dr Ajulu Uzodike established Cutix Plc with a startup capital of about N400,000 in 1981, within seven (7) years, he transformed the company from a private limited company to a publicly-owned company, as the company was listed in Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) making it the first South-Eastern Nigeria-based company to be listed on the NSE. Cutix PLC which is today one of the biggest cable manufacturers in Nigeria has a clear management structure which is divorced from the influences of the members of the immediate and extended family of the founder. At the age of sixty (60), Dr Ajulu retired as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Company, giving room for another person who has grown through the company’s ranks to manage the company. Since his retirement, the company has had about four (4) independent CEOs who have carried on the Cutix vision and mission. By Joy Chinecherem The world they say is full is of wonders, beautiful and mind-boggling natural landmarks. With the passage of time man has added his imprints too to these landmarks, sometimes beautiful and sometimes destructive. The South-Eastern part of Nigeria has its own share of these nature’s wonders, beautiful landmarks that intrigues. Here are some of the unpopular historical places: Ohum Waterfalls And Falls Ohum waterfall, situated in the valley village of Amaugwe in Awhum town in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu state, a valley town bounded on all sides by ravishing rolling hills covered in supple-looking green grass. This breathtaking waterfall cave officially known as Awhum waterfalls is about 30 meters in height, birthed as a result of a massive outcrop of granite rock with water cascading over the top, forming a stream. It has several caves lining the track to the waterfall, the track itself is actually a small stream with big rocks overhanging in some places along the track. The waterfall is famed to have healing powers and also the ability to eliminate evil forces, no doubt it has this mystic aura that cast a unique distinctive beauty on it. One of the wonders of the waterfall is how a section of it stays warm all through the seasons, It is for these reasons the falls have become a place of Christian pilgrimage and a prayer center. The valley town which also boasts of numerous pristine lakes, some of them with beautiful white sand beaches are located about 24 kilometers from Enugu and it is bounded on the north by Okpatu, in the east by Nike, in the south by Ukana and in the west by Egede communities. Amanchor Wonder Cave The Amanchor cave located at Etiti Amanchore, Afikpo South in Ebonyi state is about 3-4m in height. This cave passing through time holds a lot of secrets, it was claimed to have served as a safe house during the Nigerian civil war, where tales abound on how the people survived there. The uniqueness of this cave is that it has several tunnels that lead to various locations that makes it accessible through Abakaliki to Afikpo, Ngusu, and Mile 2 along Akaeze/Ngusu roads (about 140km and 76km from Enugu and Abakaliki respectively). The story of the Afikpo people can’t be told without the Amanchor Cave which stands in their cultural and spiritual lifestyle. Continue reading...

By Joy Chinecherem -We make war that we may live in peace- Aristotle Today is International Peace Day and the theme this year is “Shaping Peace Together”. Today, nations at war lay down their weapons, no violence, and cease-fire for 24 hours to commemorate this day. The International Day of Peace was in 1981 by the United Nations General Assembly. Two decades later, in 2001, the General Assembly unanimously voted to he Day as a period o non-violence and cease-fire. The United Nations invites all nations and people to honour a cessation of hostilities during the Day and to otherwise commemorate the Day through education and public awareness on issues related to peace. To inaugurate the day, the United Nations Peace Bell is rung at UN Headquarters (in New York City). The bell is cast from coins donated by children from all continents except Africa, and was a gift from the United Nations Association Japan, as “a reminder of the human cost of war”; the inscription on its side reads, “Long live absolute world peace” Shaping Peace, Is War Pre-requisite? Today, nations lay down weapons to observe this day, but is the 24 hours of cease-fire enough to shape world peace? But what if rather than being a disruptive force, war is seen as a father of peace. According to the Oxford dictionary, peace is a situation or a period of time in which there is no war or violence in a country or an area. So on one hand, there was a war before peace, peace is a negative concept because it signifies an absence, it can’t exist without war. Just like death is meaningless without life. To pretend that peace is a more natural state for humanity than war is to exercise a great deal of denial regarding human nature. Just like the Chinese military strategist/philosopher said: “In peace prepare for war, in war prepare for peace. The art of war is of vital importance to the state. It is a matter of life and death, a road either to safety or to ruin. Hence under no circumstances can it be neglected.” Sun Tzu c. 550 B.C. Peace is a product of wars that have been successfully won or threats of war/violence. Whether it’s the military checkpoint ahead where soldiers are standing guard, there are 99.9% chances that miscreants and insurgents will avoid that route or abort their mission totally because of the threat ahead. Countries the world over, have from time to time waged war on terrorism or anything posing as threats to them, these they do to protect the peace of their country. The Nigerian government has waged war on the Insurgents in the North-east from time to time, this they do for the whole country to live in harmony. Humans are naturally animals of prey, in order to survive, men learned the art of violence to survive. To abhor war is to welcome social inequality, because then the stronger(the rich) prey on the weak (poor), an example being the Proletarian revolution which took place 1917-1923. The proletariat i.e the working class trying to overthrow the Bourgeoisie. Continue reading...https://www.anaedoonline.ng/2020/09/21/international-day-of-peace-shaping-peace-together/

We live in an evolving world and change is inevitable. In time past, we fostered the belief that to succeed one needed a certificate. That has been flawed as recent studies have shown that skill set is more important than certificates. Statistics have shown that skill sets have produced more employment and self employed persons than degree holders. The society of today has proven that certificates are just pieces of paper, at a job interview, a certificate will get you a seat, to get you the job, you require skills. Certificates show that you have learned a skill but it’s very important for you to know that you need to know the things your certificate says you have. As a degree holder, you need to have skills related or unrelated to your degree, to survive in the society of today. Certificates are a way of showing that you have acquired certain knowledge, it is a proof and its importance cannot be overemphasised. With a certificate, you will be given an opportunity to prove your worth. However, our educational System has been flawed because It focuses on imparting theoretical knowledge. The theoretical knowledge will shape your cognizance but will never be enough. Students are judged on the basis of marks they secure in exams. Students learn loads of subjects in their life but they don’t know a thing. They cram the books and vomit them in the paper. One of the advantages of going to school is that you learn how to behave in society. You learn how to communicate with people. You learn how to walk in a line. You learn behavioral skills, you understand the importance of friends, these skills are actually pretty much important. This is one of the reasons why our youth are not getting placed. A large percentage of engineering graduates are unemployable because they do not know things. Companies keep evolving with time but the educational system hasn’t changed. Completing a particular course and getting a certificate doesn’t make you skilled, your practical knowledge is what is required. This is where skills come in, a mass communication degree should be accompanied by sound writing skills, or broadcasting skills or copy writing skills. There are other skills that are unrelated to one’s course of study, a graduate of philosophy can pursue a skill in web development. By Nnenna Joseph You will give birth like the Hebrew women is one of the most common prayers said to expectant mothers in this part of the world. According to the Bible, in Exodus 1 vs 19, “The Hebrew women are not like Egyptian women; they give birth easily, and their babies are born before either of us gets there." In the stone age, women had linear methods of child delivery which was limited to the baby coming out through the vagina after the woman pushes the baby in a systematic method a number of times. It will be referred to in this article as Vaginal birth. Complications resulting from vaginal birth cost women their lives. When a woman is unable to push forth a child, the baby and mother may die in the womb. However, there came a time in the roman empire where there was a need to increase the population under the Roman emperor, Julius Caesar. The Roman law under Caesar decreed that all women who were so fated by childbirth must be cut open and the child saved; hence, it got its name cesarean operation subsequently renamed Cesarean section (C-section). Another early practice of cesarean section is attributed to religion wherefore religious edicts enforce that the infant must be buried separately from the mother. There are other methods of childbirth which include Natural birth, Vaginal birth, Scheduled cesarean, unplanned cesarean, Vaginal birth after C-section, scheduled induction. From their names, one can tell their attributes and characteristics. For the purpose of this article, we will dwell on the Cesarean section and vaginal birth. Nigeria has one of the world’s highest maternal mortality rates. According to Wiley online library, in 2019, One hundred and forty‐five Nigerian women die in childbirth every day and 53,000 women per-year according to a UNICEF report. One reason Patients often decline C-sections, even when it could save lives: C-sections are stigmatized in Nigeria. This causes many women to resist the surgery, or hide it when they do go through with it. Most women keep it a secret from members of their family. If you tell Nigerians that you are going to go through the Caesarean section, they will tell you, God forbid. This is a function of misguided religious and traditional misconceptions. In Northern Nigeria, the religion they practice and their traditional beliefs do not hamper on these things. If a northern expectant mother decides not to use C-section it is a function of her inability to raise the finance required. The above assertion is prevalent in southern Nigeria. Religion convinced southern women they have to deliver like “Hebrew women” therefore they want nothing to do with C-section because God will always see them through. Oftentimes than not, 99.9% of these women die in the process of trying to push. Another misgiving is, women who are unable to give birth through the vagina are said to be weak, it is translated that the woman does not have the strength to push a baby therefore has to resort to help by cutting her open. Women who go through with this are stigmatized and seen as fewer women than others. In a few days international flights will be opened, awaiting doom for the country’s health sector. The pandemic saw the need for doctors all over the world. Nigerian doctors and other healthcare workers, including nurses and pharmacists, have been leaving, and are going to be leaving the country in droves because of the poor healthcare system and lack of job satisfaction. The United Kingdom employs, on the average, 12 Nigerian doctors every week. If Nigeria decides to graduate 3000 doctors every year, without the doctors leaving this country, it will take us 25 years to meet the World Health Organization(WHO) estimate of one doctor to 600 persons. Nigeria has a devastating shortage of healthcare practitioners in the country with only 42,000 doctors available for Nigeria's population of over 200 million people. UK and Canada where most Nigerian doctors were migrating to has many doctors for their population, whereas Nigeria is in deficit. Insecurity, poor job satisfaction, low remuneration, unemployment, bad roads, and poor healthcare policies are some of the reasons why Nigerian doctors and other healthcare practitioners are leaving the country for greener pastures abroad. This is a huge deficit in the nation's health sector due to brain drain as some of the best healthcare practitioners are leaving the country through migration to more favourable countries. Concerned medical practitioners in high cadres in the country have spoken up about this ill, lending their voice to salvage the situation. One of them is Dr. Joseph Ugboaja the Chairman Medical Advisory Committee Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital. He described the situation as unfortunate because we don't even have enough doctors for the country stating that It has a negative implication for healthcare delivery in the country. According to Dr. Ugboaja, he believes we should be asking ourselves how we got here in the first place. This honest inquiry will reveal both the remote and immediate causes of this unfortunate situation. The economic situation all over the world pointedly suggests that a lifestyle of heavy spending or careless expenditure of any sort cannot be sustained for the rich, the middle class, much less the poor. What this means, therefore, is that people have a need for major adjustments in other to be able to avert severe financial crisis and at least manage their finances without a lack of basic amenities that they previously could afford. Part of the lessons of COVID-19 is that some pre-COVID-19 expenses are not sustainable and so cannot be carried over into post-COVID-19. Already, some of us have discovered to our amazement during the lockdowns, that there are a few things which we until then, had assumed are core, only to realize that we were able to live without those things through the lockdowns. For instance, many people especially men had a lifestyle of daily routine evening socials which usually take a toll on their pockets but when the lockdown forced everyone inside, some quickly learned they can do without the routine evening outings. The point is that COVID-19 created new realities which rendered many pre-COVID-19 lifestyles unnecessary. Frankly, many pre-COVID-19 lifestyles do not seem to appear economically compactable with post-COVID-19 realities. One’s economic class notwithstanding, the coming months looks like people need to tighten their belts to be able to keep their heads above the water level. Already, millions of people around the world are out of jobs on account of COVID-19. For most countries where there is no structured system and robust governance, millions of citizens may be stranded and not able to eat. Though before now, thousands of people go to bed daily in Nigeria hungry, according to a UNDP report. The 2020 World Food Programme report claimed that 60% of Nigerians live below the poverty line. That is to say that over one hundred million Nigerians live on less than N400 daily. A plate of food at a local eatery is about N300. With that, it means that in Nigeria, millions of people do not eat more than once a day. This dangerous trend as bizarre as it is further deepened by conflicts in the northern region which has displaced millions of people, forcing them to be dependent on government and NGO handouts. Then again, there are recurrent herdsmen attacks and willful destruction of cultivated farmlands across the entire country, which negatively impacts food production. An aggregation of these facts into perspective sends a gloomy message of the future. While the unemployment rate was high before now, many more jobs have been lost and many more may still be lost. Whatever may be the case, however, the truth of the matter from every standpoint imaginable is that the economic times have changed, altered even, and anybody still living under the pre-COVID-19 economy may be asking for trouble. Even though before now, many middle class and poor Nigerians have depended on frequent financial assistance and aid from relatives and friends. But now, the situation is different and even those that previously gave help may need help themselves. The import of these is that whatever was wrong before may have doubled. And this is putting it mildly in comparison to the brutal reality on ground. Continue to read: https://www.anaedoonline.ng/2020/09/08/surviving-the-harsh-economic-realities-of-post-covid-19/

-- accuses officials of lack of competence, zest in operation -- attributes some roads accident to lack of a good job by FRSC operatives -- wants Federal Government to review the operations of the Corps The Spiritual leader of the Igbo nation Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka (Ogilisi Igbo) has angrily lashed out at the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) over what he observed and described as "poor service to the general public" by the operatives of the Corps, accusing the operatives of "lack of competence and zest in operation". Speaking to journalists at his office in Oba, Chief Ezeonwuka explained with dismay that he has taken time to look at the services being rendered by the Corps and found out that the operatives lack thrust and professionalism required of a very important public servant assigned to safeguard motorists and travellers from road accidents. The Ogilisi Igbo allegedly observed that the Corps operatives are not intercepting, arresting, penalizing or even prosecuting motorists with offensive tendencies or whose vehicle do not meet the standard required to ply the road adding that the way motorists both private and commercial with offensive tendencies move freely on the road without being intercepted by Road Safety operatives beats one's imagination. The Igbo leader wondered what the Road Safety operative are standing on the road for because according to him "they do not seem to be intercepting, arresting and penalizing vehicles with faults such as vehicle without brake light, without a traffic light, without fictional Head headlamps and yet move in the night, without side mirrors and without good tyres Continue reading: https://www.anaedoonline.ng/2020/09/05/igbo-spiritual-leader-lashes-at-road-safety-corps-over-poor-service/
