The Almighty God is the greatest conservationist of all. Right from Genesis we read how God commanded Adam to make sure the beautiful garden He had given him did not suffer decay or any pollution, as we see in Genesis 2:15. There are many ways one can pollute the land or any God-given gift. The land can be polluted by sin of all sorts, particularly idolatry and human sacrifice. In Genesis 2:15 we are confronted with the seriousness God attaches to the preservation of His creation. In Deuteronomy 18:9-13, God outlines what His chosen people must avoid so that the land that was destined to flow with milk and honey might remain blessed perpetually. It reads in part: “When thou art come into the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.” Deuteronomy 18:9 Idolatry is the most grievous sin against God, according to Exodus 20:3. When Adam decided to obey the devil rather than the Lord, he chose another god for himself. Many people think idolatry is when they put an image on the ground and begin to worship it. There are idolaters in the Church – people who choose to obey the devil rather than God. They are always at Church programmes but never do what God wants them to do. The Bible says: “And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee as my people, and they hear thy words, but they will not do them: for with their mouth they shew much love, but their heart goeth after their covetousness.” Ezekiel 33:31 By disobeying the word of God, people pollute the land, bringing eternal curses upon themselves and generations after them. This was exactly what the first man did and God cursed the land because of him, according to Genesis 3:17. To keep the land which the Lord has given us to inhabit, we must obey Him and live according to His word. When we do this, our land will be free from evil and it will yield great increase for our pleasure, according to Deuteronomy 28:1-13. I encourage you to give your life to Jesus Christ today and begin to live according to the word of God from now. Written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye. |
The law of the Sabbath is not an end in itself but a means to an end and that is rest. Rest is a divine blessing which God bestowed upon His creation, particularly mankind. Even the land He gave man to inhabit must enjoy a sabbatical rest (Leviticus 25:2). “And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made” Genesis 2:2 Rest is not just a commandment from God, but also an act of divine benevolence. Exodus 20:8-11 says: “Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.” Some children of God are not benefiting from the sabbatical ordinance because they are obsessed with the goals they have set for themselves. While it is good to set goals and have a vision for ones future (Proverbs 29:18), you must be careful not to be a law breaker; you must not break the sabbatical law. You must take time to rest as and when due. Another reason God would want us to observe the Sabbath is so that we may find time to enjoy the fruits of our labour. God desires that man should enjoy the labour of his hand. Solomon said: “There is nothing better for a man, than that he should eat and drink, and that he should make his soul enjoy good in his labour. This also I saw, that it was from the hand of God.” Ecclesiastes 2:24 I pray that you will not labour for another person to enjoy your harvest, in Jesus name. This prayer can only be answered if you set aside at least a day every week to rest and commune with God. Written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye. |
God decided to make man the chief of all His creation. This was in order to make the man overseer of all of creation. God decided to make man a small god – a similitude of Himself, to rule the earth on His behalf (John 10:34). Psalms 82:6 says we are gods. To be called a god is marvelous. “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattled, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. Genesis 1:26 God created man in His own image, blessed the man and gave him dominion over the whole of creation. However, this was not without clear-cut instructions on how the man should exercise his dominion. It is unfortunate that the 21st century Church is guilty of exercising unlimited freedom acting as though Jesus Christ had saved us into lawlessness and unguided freedom. This is the reason human beings must live up to Gods expectation as gods to the rest of creation, according to Psalms 82:6. Apostle Paul asked in Romans 6:1-2: “What shall we say? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?” We must jealously guard our position in God’s creation and redemption. Our first parents lost it; we found it in Christ and so we must be careful not to take the grace of God for granted anymore. Jesus Christ restored us to this prestigious position and the Scripture confirms it thus: “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people, that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” 1 Peter 2:9 The divine assessment of the whole of creation is: “And God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good….” Genesis 1:31 My prayer is that, in whatever way you may have fallen short of Gods perfection, may you be restored, in the mighty name of Jesus. Our God is not just the God of creation; He is also the God of abundance. When God creates, He does not do so sparingly. He is still in the business of creation, according to John 5:17 which says: “…My Father worketh hitherto, and I work…” This is why the provision He made in the universe has not been exhausted. An end has come to every form of un-fruitfulness and lack in your life today, in Jesus name. Our God is also the God of variety - He created both great and small in different forms. This knowledge must have informed Apostle Paul’s assurance to the Philippians that the Almighty God would supply all their need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). Another lesson we could learn from Genesis 1:20-30 is that God blessed His handwork to be fruitful and to multiply. We can thus see how foolish anyone would be if he or she agrees with the devil that God hates him or her. Our God is interested in the prosperity of His people. The Psalmist understood this and wrote: “… Let the Lord be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.” Psalm 35:27 Nobody cares about us more than God. His care, mercy and love are incomparable. Jesus said in John 15:13: “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” Romans 8:32 also says "He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?" This is why He said in Luke 12:31 “But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.” In light of the above therefore, trust God for all you need in life because His name is Jehovah-Jireh (The Lord our Provider). Do not cut corners to be rich; if you do, this would have grave consequences. May the God of abundance meet all your needs this season, in Jesus name. Written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye. |
Our God is the God of distinction; He is not an author of confusion. A man chooses to be confused when he does not want to do the right thing as ordered by God and so pretends that he does not know what God wants from him. When God creates, He does so with precision and purpose. He created lights for a purpose and darkness for another. God commanded: “And let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years.” Genesis 1:14 The God of order is that God of distinction. When He wanted to create man, for example, the Bible says: “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.” Genesis 1:27 God, in His infinite wisdom, created mankind as male and female, yet some people feel the need to change their gender as though He did not know what He was doing when He created them! God does not make mistakes. Our God is the perfect God of distinction. He created the day for work and the night to rest. If for any reason we do not rest in one night, the following day should compensate for the loss of rest. Failure to observe rest produces stress, sickness and ultimately death. Little wonder life expectancy in the last fifty years has been on the decline. Achievements that should normally have taken forty years to accomplish are realized in fewer than thirty, at the price of dying earlier. The God of distinction says in His word: “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion hath light with darkness?” 2 Corinthians 6:14 He then commanded in 2 Corinthians 6:17-18 “Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, and will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.” A lot of people have mixed many profane things with the sacred. The God of distinction will never lower His standards. It is our duty to live up to His standards. Written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye. |
There is power in the word of God. The word of God has creative power. The power in the word of God created space where there seemed to be none, according to John 1:1-3. The word of God will always make a way where there is no way and a space where there is no space. When the Israelite's got to the Red Sea and it seemed that they were shut between it and the hosts of Pharaoh, the Lord spoke through Moses that they should move on. It takes faith in God to obey such a command, but thank God they did and their obedience paid off because the word made an expressway in the sea for them to pass through. Exodus 14:15-16 says: “And the Lord said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? Speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward: But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the mist of the sea.” Another lesson we should learn here is that we should always talk to God about our challenges. Moses did this effectively and every time he did, God spoke. This made Moses a problem-solver because he always heard from God. Also, when God speaks, it is done. All that is required for the ultimate manifestation is for us to take the necessary action in obedience to His word. My life is a testimony of the power in the word of God. The word of God has increased my faith in the past and is still doing so. It was the word which came to me during a family devotion that strengthened me when we were trusting God for our first natural birth. Indeed, it came through one of the children as we were considering the miracle of the parting of the Red Sea when the power of God made a way where there was none. The Bible says in Exodus 14:16 “But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it” It was Moses who divided the sea under the influence of Gods word. The word had established it ahead: “…and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.” The children of God moved forward in faith and it came to pass. We must be both hearers and doers of the word (James 1:22,25). My prayer for you is that, as you obey the word of God, you will begin to do the impossible, in Jesus name. Written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye. |
The first challenge that confronted the earth was darkness and this is what God first dealt with in the creation story, according to Genesis chapter one. May the Lord deal with every form of darkness that has hitherto plagued your life in Jesus name. When an individual gropes in darkness, he or she is likely to fall into a pit and thereby end his or her life prematurely. In other words, darkness is potentially harmful. This is why there must be light and there will be light in your life today, in Jesus name. God said let there be light and there was light (Genesis 1:3). One lesson we must quickly learn here is that it was when God spoke His word that the miracle of light occurred. Many modern-day Christians close up their hearts to the word of God. This is the reason many are in the Church for years and their lives remain the same. They came sick and remain sick; they came bound and remain bound. What a waste of opportunity! My prayer is that the word of God will penetrate your life today and you will experience the miracle of the light of the Living God. When there is darkness, there can be no positive activity. God knew this and that was the reason He first tackled the problem of darkness when He created the earth. The devil represents the darkness in this world and that is why you need the light of God. Revelation 12:12 says: “Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! For the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.” When there is no activity because of darkness, stagnation is inevitable. When God says Let there be light, it could mean the recovery of sight to the blind. It could mean healing to the sick or the coming of a joyous morning, according to Psalms 30:5. Let there be light could mean the end of suffering and disappointment. Thus, if you are reading this devotional and are yet to come into the light of God in Jesus Christ, today is the day of salvation, healing, breakthrough, and deliverance; now is the acceptable time (2 Corinthians 6:2). You need the light of God today. Go for it in prayer. Written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye. |
l am convinced that the question God asked of Adam long ago Where art thou? (Genesis 3:9.) is as relevant today as it was then. It is not a question that an individual should wait for God to ask him or her, but rather one that each person should ask him or herself at any given time. A sincere approach to answering this question would do one a world of good, both in this life and eternity. From the day a person is born, the fellow begins a return journey to where he or she is from (Ecclesiastes 12:1-7). That is why people normally ask How old are you? and not How young are you? No matter how young you are, you are growing older every day. Hence, God, Himself asks where you are now. You should ask yourself the same question regularly. Ask yourself How far have I gone in fulfilling the purpose of my life and salvation?. To answer this serious question, you need to first of all answer some of the following: Where was I yesterday and where am I today? Am I increasing spiritually or decreasing?, Am I increasing financially or decreasing? The truth is that it is the will of God that His children should have all-around prosperity. Are you really bearing fruit? Your assessment of where you were in the past and now will tell you whether you are really serving the purpose of your existence. This is very important. Since you gave your life to Christ, how many souls have you won for Him?, Since you gave your life to Christ, what is the level of your growth in the service of the Lord? It is unfortunate that some people gave their lives to Christ some ten, fifteen years ago yet remain benchwarmers while some who came in three, four years ago have become pastors and Church leaders, flourishing in one ministry gift or another. God has also planned that we should prosper financially and materially. If you are not prospering financially and materially, could it be that you have been hiding from your Creator, the Redeemer of lost destinies? Could it mean that your sins have not been forgiven because you have not genuinely repented of them? Could it mean that you have not been obedient to the word of God?, Could it be that you have been hypocritical about your Christian walk? You can experience a great turnaround today. Jesus is calling "Son of man, where are you?" I expect if you have not yet positively responded to this call, that you would say Here I am Lord. God bless you as you do so, in Jesus' name. 1. Lord, we thank You for our youths and pray that as You raised David to be King, please raise youths who will lead righteously in Jesus name. 2. Father, please help our youths to fear You and to say no to unrighteousness. Let them stand for the truth and righteousness always, in Jesus name. 3. Father, send help to all our youths; help them spiritually, financially, mentally, economically, emotionally and in every way. Let our youths have all that they need to fulfill their destiny, oh Lord. 4. Father, we cover all our youths with the blood of Jesus. We will not bury our youths, in Jesus name. We cancel every plan of the enemy to kill our youths, in Jesus name. 5. Father, please protect our youths from the decadence of this generation, in Jesus name. 6. Lord, help our youths submit to authority and training so that they would be prepared for their glorious future, in the mighty name of Jesus. 7. Father, we lift our youths to You; they will not be evil doers in Jesus name. They will not trouble the nation and its progress, in Jesus name. 8. Father, You said in Your word that the glory of the youths is in their strength. Lord, let the youths use their strength to serve You. Don’t let them give their glory to the devil, Lord. 9. Father, You said in Your word that our young men will see visions. I pray for every visionless youth now, that You give such a vision – one that will draw them closer to You, far away from the devil and sin. 10. Father, amongst the youths, please raise prayer warriors, great evangelists, great men and women of God, who will serve You with all their hearts. 11. Father, we frustrate every agenda of the devil to lead our youths astray – whether it is through bad friends, the media or any other means. The agenda of the devil is frustrated now, in Jesus name. 12. Your personal prayer point for the youths, especially those close to you. Written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye. |
The Scripture contains a lot of "fear not" statements from God to His people. Fear is one tool the enemy finds most useful in making the children of God suffer failure, pain and destruction of destiny. Many a time, the things people are afraid of are not real, but their minds paint an imaginary picture of the object or situation out of proportion with the reality and the enemy helps to blow it up. Thus, people become afraid of things that should not instill fear in them. Certainly, there are some situations that are truly terrifying, but the Lord our God still charges us not to be afraid, He wants us to know that with Him backing us up, nothing and no situation can have us at its mercy. Isaiah 41:10 says: “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee, yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” Fear is an enemy; it paralyses the potential for greatness. The Bible says fear has torment (1 John 4:18). Fear makes the one full of it disobedient to God; fear makes a fellow lift his or her situation higher than God. Such was the case of King Saul who confessed that he had sinned because he feared the people and obeyed their voice, even against the instruction of God (1 Samuel 15:24). Being fearful is a sin that can lead one into eternity in the lake of fire. Revelation 21:8 says: “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, and whoremonger, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” Of these sins, fearfulness is number one on the list. You have no business being fearful. Jesus our Lord is greater than any human being no matter his or her status; He is greater than any situation. Nothing and no one is a match for Him. Colossians 2:15 says Jesus has spoiled principalities and powers. Isaiah 8:12-13 says we should not fear their fear, but fear only God. Once we fear God, we would have no one else to fear. You cannot claim to fear God and others at the same time. Written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye. |
Peace is an essential ingredient for progress; it is an important factor for man’s well-being and good health. Our God is the author and controller of peace. There is the peace that comes from the conditions of our environment - physical and non-physical.The fact that someone is a child of God and loves Him does not necessarily mean such a person will not have problems. Fear takes away a person’s peace, but when you put your trust in God, He keeps you in perfect peace (Isaiah 26:3). This perfect peace comes only through surrendering one’s life to Jesus Christ Romans 5:1. There is however something that can keep children of God from experiencing the peace of God – the root of bitterness. While this root of bitterness could affect a fellow’s behavior towards those against whom he is harboring such a feeling, the more dangerous effect of it is ultimately felt by the bitter person. Bitterness in the heart of a person creates room for hatred, envy, and anger; it breeds un-forgiveness and unhappiness. Indeed, the word bitterness itself depicts what it offers - a "bitter experience". It hinders the flow of joy and peace. How does it originate? It comes when one feels unfairly treated by another person or an organization; it is a feeling of being injured, whether physically or otherwise. Examples would include a sister being jilted in courtship, a fellow catching his or her spouse in adultery, an employee being short-changed by his or her organization, a person being raped, and so on. Are you battling against the root of bitterness resulting from some experience or the other?. Please note that it is not in your interest to harbor it. Bitterness eats its host up; it negatively affects the physical well-being of the individual, as well as causing a strained relationship with God. You may have heard me tell the story of a man whose wife had died, leaving behind an only daughter with a striking resemblance to the mother. The daughter was a great consolation to this man, but the lady’s husband was constantly maltreating the lady, to the point of threatening her life. The root of bitterness that sprang up in the lady’s father resulted in him becoming swollen, defying all medical care. He only became healed after forgiving his son-in-law. To retain your God-given peace, remove all forms of bitterness in your heart today. Written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye. |
Peace is described in Proverbs 17:1 as being more valuable than riches. Peace is essential for progress and success whether for an individual or a group of people. I pray nothing will take away the peace of God from your life in Jesus name. There are however different categories of peace. There is environmental peace this has to do with physical security. Increasingly, nations have to grapple with terrorism, kidnapping, armed robbery and several other societal ills that threaten their peace. Environmental peace clearly also affects the peace of mind of individuals. Glory to God – Jesus our Lord is the Prince of Peace. What this means is that He is the controller, giver, sustainer and nourisher of peace for man. Lack of peace brings fear, causes confusion and leads to bondage. No vision, development or progress is made where there is no peace. Peace, at the highest level, can only be found in God Almighty. That is why no one else can boast of security except by coming to Jesus. This in turn makes Jesus the author of peace. The Lord will keep evil away from you (Psalms 91:10) be it kidnappers, armed robbers, assassins and the like, thus ensuring that you dwell in peace. Your mind will be at peace also. You however, must continue to love and trust Him with all your heart as well as resources. Psalms 91:1 says: “He that dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” There can be no peace unless protection or security is guaranteed, according to Psalms 125:2 which says: “As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the LORD is round about His people from henceforth even forever.” These are the words of the Lord that cannot lie. Unfortunately, many children of God are ignorant of His promises. Read His word, meditate on it, believe it, confess it and claim it. It will surely work for you. We need to pay attention to Isaiah 26:3-4. The Bible encourages us to put our trust in God. This is the only way we can secure peace like a river in our hearts, homes, towns, cities and countries. Written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye. |
Every child of God is meant to be a carrier of divine treasure – the Spirit of God. Thus, in spite of our earthen form, all children of God have supernatural abilities because of the presence of God within us. God can work through you to achieve great things. Never underestimate the fact that He can turn around the lives of individuals, families, towns, cities and countries through you. Now, this is not about your physique, intellect or wisdom, but about Jesus in you, no matter how little you may consider yourself, God can do really great things through you (John 14:12). In Acts 27:27-44, Paul was just a prisoner on board a ship transporting him and some other prisoners to Rome. However, when a great storm arose and it seemed death was imminent, everyone aboard the ship turned to Paul for help. Paul was able to lead everyone aboard the ship into safety because of the presence of Jesus Christ in him. You can also become a successful leader. You can be the one to proffer a solution to that life-threatening situation. You can bring tears of joy rather than tears of sorrow to that brother, sister or neighbour, if only you would realize that the presence of God in your life has already furnished you unto all good works (2 Timothy 3:17). We must however, keep our vessels clean if we want God to abide within us (1 Corinthians 3:16). Isaiah 52:11 says: “Depart ye, depart ye, go ye out from thence, touch no unclean thing; go ye out of the midst of her; be ye clean, that bear the vessels of the LORD.” The ark of the Lord was in Obededom’s house for three months and God blessed him tremendously (2 Samuel 6:10-11). Obededom’s house must have been spiritually clean for the ark of God to have brought him and his household blessings, because the same ark caused a pandemic when it was brought into a land that was rife with idolatry (1 Samuel 5:1-7). Jesus Christ has promised to dine with anyone that lets Him into his or her heart (Revelations 3:20) and the life of such a person will be filled with wonders. Written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye. |
The Almighty God whose words can never fail (Isaiah 55:11) is the One who has said we should say unto the righteous that it shall be well with them (Isaiah 3:10). The importance of any statement depends on the person speaking. God is Alpha and Omega (Revelation 12,13); He declares the end from the beginning (Isaiah 48:10) and nothing can change His promise that says it shall be well with a particular group of people – the righteous. So, the question is “Are you amongst the righteous?” The first step towards becoming righteous is surrendering your life to Jesus Christ. He is the only One who can make us righteous. Romans 10:4 says: For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone that believeth. Congratulations if you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. The next step then is to remain in Him so you can produce much fruit (John 15:4-5). It indeed would be a complete mockery of the whole sacrifice of Jesus if He saved us from sin only for us to continue in it. If you have fulfilled or made up your mind to fulfill the conditions described above, I speak the word of the Lord into your life today: It shall be well with you, in Jesus’ name. The statement “it shall be well with you” however means different things to different people. To the sick, it means he or she will be healed (Matthew 12:15). To the poor, it means his or her wealth is guaranteed because the Lord is the One who gives power to get wealth (Deuteronomy 8:18). To the captive, it means the fellow will be delivered. Our God is the Lord of hosts. He will destroy all the forces holding such a person captive (Isaiah 49:25). To the barren it means that the person shall conceive; He is the One able to raise children out of stones (Matthew 3:9). To the one who has been experiencing failure, it means success is coming, for God is the Great Promoter (Psalm 75:6-7). I believe strongly that God wants to do something special for His children in this season. Remember, His word can never fail. What He has said must surely come to pass. Hold on to His word in faith and you will never be disappointed. It shall certainly be well with you, in the mighty name of Jesus. Written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye. |
There are basically two people involved in a call – the caller and the called. The basic divine call is what we find in Matthew 11:28-29. Here, God is the caller and the called are all men. It is a call unto salvation that is universal. It hinges on John 3:16, a call from the heart of God. Hebrews 9:27 says: “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:” To be forewarned is to be forearmed. It is however amazing that some people who are considered wise because of their educational attainments prove to be the least wise when it comes to matters relating to God. “And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient.” Romans 1:28 A call once went out to the first man Adam, in Genesis 3:9. This was after his fall into sin. Unfortunately, man mismanaged this opportunity by not accepting responsibility for his sin but rather, decided to blame his wife (Genesis 3:12). Another opportunity came through Jesus Christ the second Adam and our Redeemer. Congratulations to you if you have responded to this call that came through Jesus Christ, according to Matthew 11:28-29. Having received this call, we are now children of the Most High God. We are now heirs of God and joint-heirs with the Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 8:17, 1 John 3:1). Beloved, having answered the call to salvation, we have some obligations to fulfil. We cannot love the world and God at the same time (1 John 2:15-17). We must deliberately separate ourselves from the darkness in the world so that the Almighty God, who made the call can receive us (2 Corinthians 6:14-18). If however, you haven’t heeded Gods call for salvation, I enjoin you to do so right away, as tomorrow may be too late. Seek the Lord when He can be found (Isaiah 55:6) and surrender your life to Jesus Christ today. I pray that God will see us all through to our ultimate salvation in the Kingdom of Heaven, in the mighty name of Jesus. Written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye. |
One of the revelations God gave to us about last year was that the earth would convulse like a sick child. Barely a few days after this revelation, the world began to experience the ‘convulsion’, which came as the COVID-19 pandemic, amongst other issues. The word of God is so accurate in its prediction of the last days, yet many ignore it. Being politically correct has been given prominence over the word of God. It is saddening to see things that would have received outright condemnation some years ago now being considered normal, or even fashionable. A good example is homosexuality, which is currently enjoying public recognition and approval even amongst world leaders today. Indeed, the more developed nations are now threatening other nations that would not do the same. There are ever increasing levels of selfishness everywhere, so much so that, even amongst leaders, a few people enrich themselves while impoverishing the masses. Domestic crime has taken another turn- husbands taking the lives of their wives and vice versa. Knowledge is also increasing at a very fast pace, giving rise to changing trends in technology. This in itself affects human behaviour so greatly that these new technologies tempt people to commit sinful and perverted acts. This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, un-thankful, unholy. 2 Timothy 3:1-2 You will not be a victim of the end time calamities, in Jesus’ name. The spiritual and moral decay of the present day will not catch up with you, in Jesus’ name. The Bible says we are kept by the power of God (1 Peter 1:5). All these signs show the fast approaching second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. You must therefore live every moment in earnest expectation, of Christ (Titus 2:11-14) and as one of the five wise virgins (Matthew 25:1-9). You must have no time for idleness, but be busy serving the Lord, winning souls and living holy. You must be prayerful also – interceding for your family members others who are yet to surrender their lives to the lordship of Jesus. Beloved, the second coming of Jesus Christ is at hand. Will you be ready? The countdown has begun! Written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye. |
Any genuine child of God wants to be used by Him for great things. However, whether God would use someone or how far He would go with an individual is a function of many factors. First and foremost, we need to realize that only God is All-Sufficient. Many passages of Scripture attest to this. He is the One who owns power in its entirety (Psalms 62:11) and power, according to scientists, is the ability to do work. God is the source and giver of wisdom (James 1:5-8, Colossians 2:2-3). You want to talk about strength? Isaiah 40:29-31 says that He gives strength and might. No man should think of himself as adequate or self-sufficient. Whether in terms of knowledge, strength, power, wisdom, or human connection, none of these is able to make a man adequate before God. It amounts to pride to wholly rely on your natural abilities. Beloved, God cannot use you until you empty yourself before Him. Only empty vessels can be filled (2 Kings 4:1-7).Many of God’s people are, however, still full of themselves. Beloved, if you go through the Bible you would discover that the people God used are those who were nothing or who reduced themselves to nothing. If at any time He picks people who seem to have attained already, such people would have to empty themselves. Saul of Tarsus is a classic example (Philippians 3:5-9). When God chooses you no matter your status, all you need is His assurance that His presence will go with you. In Philippians 3:4-9, Paul clarifies what we must know and do to qualify for a divine appointment. The number one fact is that being an offspring of a pastor does not automatically qualify one to become a pastor. Pastoral calling is not hereditary. Two, Paul was a Pharisee and a doctor of the religious law of Israel but he had to empty himself before God could use him. “Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more:..But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.” Philippians 3:4,7 The Lord qualifies us when we disqualify and humble ourselves. May the Lord qualify you for His service, in Jesus’ name. Written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye. |
It is God’s plan for His children to enjoy a long and prosperous life. If the enemy however, tries to steal the life of any child of God, such a fellow would become a candidate for a miracle. This was the case of Lazarus – a friend of Jesus Christ, according to John 11:11-13: “These things said he: and after that he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep. Then said his disciples, Lord, if he sleeps, he shall do well. Howbeit Jesus spake of his death: but they thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep.” The first lesson we should learn in this story is that any friend of Jesus is a candidate for a miracle. The question is: are you a friend of Jesus or an anti-Christ? Jesus Christ is the best friend you can ever have. He is compassionate and caring. You need to have Jesus as your friend before the occurrence of any seemingly hopeless situation, as we see in John 11:39-44. Martha, a sister to Lazarus said to Jesus: “…Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died” (John 11:21). To her, Lazarus case was a hopeless one because he had been dead and buried for four days. However, the Hope of the Hopeless said …Thy brother shall rise again (John 11:23). Beloved, I am inviting you to come to Jesus Christ today. Make up your mind that you will be His friend indeed by obeying all His commandments, because He said Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you (John 15:14). What do you need a miracle for? Is it a part of your body, your marriage, business or career that has been touched by the evil one? Jesus Christ is the Miracle-Worker. Make Him your friend today, put your trust in Him and you will receive your desired miracles (John 11:40). Do you desire to live eternally? Romans 3:23 says …all have sinned…To have your eternal life restored, you need the miracle of redemption. The One who can perform this miracle is Jesus Christ the Son of the Living God. Run to Him and you shall have eternal life (John 3:16-18). Written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye. |
Reports have revealed that both orthodox and traditional medical practitioners have confessed their limitations in the healing process. Both orthodox and traditional medical practitioners are known to tell terminally ill patients to go home and prepare to die after their best efforts to save such lives have failed. Mark 5:25-28 tells us the story of a woman with the issue of blood: “And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years, And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse, When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind; and touched his garment. For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.” In this story, we see how the helplessness of physicians made the woman desperate for a miracle. When human beings cannot help a fellow it becomes apparent that the case would require divine intervention. The woman said in her heart that if she could just touch Jesus’ clothes, she would be made whole. She did and she got her healing. Jesus Christ knew that healing virtue had gone out of Him and asked for the identity of the fellow who touched Him. The Bible says the woman, though afraid, told Jesus what and how it happened. It is interesting to note that instead of Jesus Christ rebuking her or taking back the virtue that had healed her, He commended her faith. Jesus said "...Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace and be whole of thy plague" (Mark 5:34). Beloved, it takes a divine touch to get such a miracle. If we can only have faith in Jesus Christ the Great Miracle-Worker, we would also become candidates for miracles. 1 Peter 2:24 affirms that such faith in Christ is not misplaced. Jesus bore our sins in His body and His innocent blood was shed for our salvation, deliverance, and healing. Thus, it is left for us to believe and receive our miracles. Are you facing any health challenge? Maybe medical practitioners have even described it as incurable. I assure you that as you exercise your faith today, Jehovah-Rapha will make you whole in Jesus’ name. Amen. Written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye. |
Ever since the fall of man which led to the ground being cursed for his sake, it has become a matter of divine intervention for him to prosper. Only by divine intervention also known as miracles, can man prosper with ease. In 2 Kings 6:24-30, Samaria was under siege and people could not go out to farm or trade. This resulted in a great famine, which became so severe that people started killing their children for food. The situation brought desperation for a miracle in the city of Samaria. The undeniable truth is that everyone needs a miracle at one time or another whether physical, psychological, material, financial or even more importantly, spiritual. King David knew this and wrote "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want" (Psalms 23:1). Who is your shepherd? If the Lord is indeed your Shepherd, then you are a candidate for miracles. This Lord is the owner of the cattle upon a thousand hills, according to Psalms 50:10-11: “For every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills. I know all the fowls of the mountains: and the wild beasts of the field are mine.” As we read in 2 Kings 7:1-6, the people of Samaria desperately needed a miracle and they were so blessed that a prophet lived in their midst. The prophet declared the word of God but it was too good for a member of the kings’ cabinet to believe and this was to his peril. We need to have faith in God when we are in need of divine intervention (a miracle). The Bible says in 2nd Chronicles 20:20 ...Believe in the Lord your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper. Beloved, do you need a miracle? Fulfill God’s conditions by obeying all His commandments which include accepting Jesus Christ as your Saviour, living holy, faithful payment of your tithes, cheerful giving of offerings, honoring Him (God) with your first fruits, and so on. Trust God for your all-round blessing and you will surely see His glory. Written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye. |
The simple explanation for a miracle is that it is a supernatural event that does not follow the laws of nature, to favour a person. To be a candidate for a miracle, the first qualification is that such a fellow must be a carrier of the Living God. He or she must be a child of God. God created man in His own image. The Bible says in Genesis 1:27: “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.” When the carrier of God’s image - man, got entangled with sin, he needed to be restored and the only One who could do this was God Himself. God achieved the restoration through His only begotten Son Jesus Christ. For us to be partakers of this miracle of redemption, we must believe Him to access His power (John 1:11-12). Beloved, you simply cannot partake of the miraculous without belonging to the Miracle-Worker! Do you desire a miracle? You must be born again. Why? Jesus Christ said it clearly that miracles are children’s bread; you can’t have them until you become a child of God (Matthew 15:22-28). My prayer is that you will give your life over to the Miracle-Worker if you haven’t done that already so that you too can begin to experience miracles from now. If you are already a child of God, then you are already qualified for a miracle, as long as you are living by His word. Another thing that can qualify you for a miracle is faith. Jesus commended the faith of the woman and she got what she needed. Has the doctor said the baby in that womb is dead and must be evacuated? I speak to that baby now to receive the life of God, in Jesus’ name. That part of your body that is suffering from paralysis must receive the life of God now, in the mighty name of Jesus. I stand by the word of God in Romans 8:11 and declare "...if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. Receive your miracle now, in the mighty name of Jesus! Written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye. |
People who believe in many gods are called polytheists. The problem with their religious belief is that it does not actually point them to the very God who created them. All thanks to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who through this very Son revealed Himself to us as the true Living God. The Bible says in Mark 12:29-30: “And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.” There are however, some people who practice other religions that believe there is only one God. Such people are called monotheists. The problem with this category of people however, is that they do not know the genuine way to this One and Only God of the universe. We give thanks to Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God who came to show us the way, according to John 14:6. Some churchgoers however, believe that Jesus Christ is the Way, but do not see Him as the Truth. This is the primary reason many of them disagree with the relevance of Gods requirements for holy living as contained in the Bible. To some other Christians, Jesus life is not meant for the contemporary world. We can see where the problems lie in the Church and by extension, the world, since the Church is the light of the world. If the light is now becoming darkness, the world is in serious trouble. May the light of the Church shine brighter again in Jesus name. Beloved, be not deceived: Jesus Christ is the Way – the only Way for that matter. He is the Truth – that which can set you free, and the only source of eternal life. Give your life to Him today and if you have already done so, please stay away from sin. Be careful not to align yourself with people who claim that living in holiness is not possible, saying that Gods demand for holiness as contained in the Bible is not realistic. Trust in the Lord, lean on the Truth and you will enjoy eternal life from the Life Himself, in the mighty name of Jesus. Written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye. |
Many people are in need of revival, yet have not been able to access it because of pride. The need for revival which brings about spiritual restoration comes on the heels of spiritual decay. A lot of things could be responsible for spiritual decay. One of it is disobedience. The Bible says that when Adam and Eve disobeyed God, they lost their fellowship with Him. Before the fall, the Bible says the man and his wife were naked, but not ashamed (Genesis 2:25 ). After the fall however, the Bible says that their eyes were opened - 'enlightened' (Genesis 3:7-8 ), and they became ashamed. There are many lessons we can learn from the above cited Scripture. One, spiritual decay leads to the exposure of unclothedness and shame. Shame is the opposite of glory. Spiritual decay is the cause of all kinds of sin; it is what accounts for many women dressing in revealing clothes, as they strive to attract men, luring them into sexual immorality. In the same vein, many men engage in sexual immorality both before and even in the course of their marriages. You will never behave in such a way when the glory of God is upon you. Indeed, the Bible says: “The hoary head is a crown of glory, if it be found in the way of righteousness.” Proverbs 16:31 When someone loses his or her spirituality, the voice of the Lord becomes fearsome to the fellow. He or she becomes resistant to the word of the Lord. At the end of the day, such people run from their Bible-believing Church to so-called churches where deceit is the order of the day. Such people need spiritual restoration. The problem with such people, however, is their pride which will not allow them to follow David’s example in his response to the message from God through prophet Nathan in 2 Samuel 12:1-13 . David acknowledged his sins and God forgave and restored him. The product of this story is found in the text of today which reads in part: “Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.” Psalm 51:11-12 Beloved, are you spiritually cold? Have you lost some of the spiritual gifts that make you radiate the glory of the Lord? All you need is to call on Jesus Christ with every sense of humility. He will restore you speedily. It is one thing to be restored; it is another to experience complete restoration. Some people are restored halfway – like the nine lepers in Luke 17:12-19. The only one who received complete restoration was the tenth leper because he returned to give thanks to the Lord. Complete restoration does not allow any backwardness or stagnation. This is why I always assure those who have received one miracle or another that when they give the testimony of what the Lord has done, it will always be permanent. A typical example of complete restoration is found in Acts 3:1-8. When the lame man at the gate called Beautiful got his healing, it was complete. First, his feet and ankle bones received strength for the first time in his life. After this, he began to walk, and then to leap - praising God. May you experience complete restoration of whatever you have lost, in Jesus name. The story in Mark 8:25 reveals another typical example of complete restoration. The lessons in the story are many. One, Jesus will not stop until He has completed whatever miracle He starts. Two, He always completes His miracle in the life of an individual, as revealed in that story. When the man said he was seeing men like trees, Jesus was not satisfied with such an incomplete miracle; He continued to do what He knew how to do best until it was complete, perfect and delivered. The Lord will perfect the good work He has started in your life and He will not abandon it until it is complete in Jesus name. You can have complete restoration in your spiritual life if you have missed it one way or the other. You can be born again, sanctified, and baptized in the Holy Ghost. Your expectation for the complete restoration of your shattered dreams shall not be cut short in Jesus name. I just want to advise you to have an encounter with Jesus Christ – the One who can make all your dreams come true. You will have testimonies of the complete restoration of your destiny, in the mighty name of Jesus. Written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye. |
While it is true that the devil can rob us of eternal life, it is also true that we can ignorantly submit it to him. The reason is found in Romans 8:31 which says: “What shall we then say to these things? “If God be for us, who can be against us?” The answer to this question is that nobody can be against us except we ourselves. “For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.” Romans 5:19 Here we see that there is something deeper than sin itself – that is, disobedience. When a person is called a sinner, it means there is disobedience somewhere in the life of such a fellow. In other words, the power of sin lies in disobedience. According to the Scripture above, men were made sinners through disobedience. We can conclude therefore that the absence of disobedience is the absence of sin! Let us look at another Scripture in order to see how God views disobedience as different acts that dishonour Him: “And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry…” 1 Samuel 15:22-23 Beloved, in simple terms, one thing that can deny one of eternal life is disobedience to the word of God, which I regard as the father of all sins. Are you disobedient to God who you proclaim to be your Father? How often do you argue with His word? Are you comfortable with His dos and don’ts or do you consider them stressful? Some members of the 21st century Church don’t take Gods commands seriously any more. I am using this opportunity to advise you not to join the group of such people. Eternal life is real and you cannot afford to miss it. Hold fast unto eternal life by obeying every word of God. Written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye. |
Some theologians teach that once you are saved you are forever saved. This is the lie of the devil. The truth of the matter is that there is temporary (provisional) salvation as well as eternal salvation. One can be saved temporarily and be damned eventually if he falls out of the will of God, whereas God has also made provision for our eternal salvation if we abide by His word which is able to save us ultimately to the end (James 1:2). The Bible says: “Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.” Ecclesiastes 7:8 There are examples of people who started well in the Christian race but fell by the way side, chief among whom was Judas Iscariot one of the twelve disciples of Jesus Christ. Beloved, do not allow yourself to be deceived, thinking that once you are saved, nothing can take away your salvation. If Judas a disciple of Christ could fall and lose his eternal salvation, nobody should consider Heaven a certainty while living a life of sin. Heaven is guaranteed only if you live righteously to the very end. Complete obedience to the word of God is a fundamental condition for eternal salvation. James 1:22,25 says: “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves...But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.” In addition to obeying the word of God, another condition is our endurance of persecution to the end. Jesus Christ, in Matthew 24:13 categorically tells us that only those who endure to the end shall be ultimately saved. Why persecution? The Bible says "Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution" (2nd Timothy 3:12).This Scripture corroborates what our Lord Jesus Christ said in John 15:19: “If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore, the world hateth you.” Beloved, let us endure to the end and we shall experience eternal salvation, in the name of Jesus. When sin came into the lives of Adam and Eve, they forfeited their cordial relationship with the Lord God Almighty. They were separated from the blissful presence of their creator. It was a great loss. The interesting thing that many may not believe is that God wants man to come back into fellowship with Him. However, God’s holiness prevents Him from beholding iniquity, as we see in Isaiah 59:1-2: “Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.” To bring about this reconciliation therefore, God had to make the sacrifice of giving His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, for the sins of the world (John 3:16). 2 Corinthians 5:19 says further: “To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.” Before Jesus Christ was crucified on the cross, He said: “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28 In John 7:37, He calls: “…If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.” Isaiah 9:6 says “Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God” (Matthew 5:9). To make peace with God therefore, one must acknowledge his sins as well as confess and forsake them, with a promise not to go back to the life of disobedience. A new life is expected of anyone who has accepted the peace that living in Jesus Christ brings. The Bible speaks of the publican in Luke 18:13 thus: “And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.” Making peace with God also requires breaking away from past misdeeds and making right our wrongdoings like in the case of Zacchaeus: “And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord: Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold.” – Luke 19:8 This is proof of genuine repentance and reconciliation. Blessings are in various categories. There are physical as well as spiritual blessings, according to Ephesians 1:3. Physical blessings are temporary while those of a spiritual nature are enduring and eternal. All blessings however – whether physical or spiritual, come from the Lord, according to James 1:17: “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.” The best of all blessings are those of a spiritual nature, which transcend the present age. This is why Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ wrote: “If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.” 1 Corinthians 15:19 Spiritual blessings cannot be qualified in material or monetary terms. These include gifts of the Holy Spirit as well as victory over principalities and powers. The benefits of spiritual blessings are captured in Mark 10:29-30 thus: “And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s, But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.” In addition to all the physical blessings we get from submitting to the lordship of Jesus Christ, we have the spiritual blessing of eternal life. No matter how long we live on the earth, we shall depart from it one day. Where will you spend eternity – Heaven or hell? May you not spend eternity in hell, in the mighty name of Jesus. To access spiritual blessings, you must believe Jesus and make Him your personal Lord and Saviour John (6:27-29). Written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye. |
There is creative power in the word of God. It takes someone who is all-powerful to execute the gigantic project of creating the universe. This is what the word of God did and is still doing, according to John 1:1-3. When the Lord speaks, His word brings whatever He desires into being. The creative word of God bears His power. This is the reason we must never take the word of God for granted. As a matter of fact, we must tremble at His word because it can make or break us. It is foolishness to disobey God because He would not spare us if we do. Calamity has befallen many as a result of their disobedience to the word of God. Jesus says in John 12:48: “He that rejected me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.” However, it is interesting to note that the power in the word of God is capable of saving us from sin. His word is the discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart (Hebrews 4:12). Without the word, man is in darkness but the word of God is the light of life. The Psalmist wrote: “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” Psalm 119:105 The power in the word makes the foolish become wise according to Psalm 19:7: “The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.” One more interesting thing about the word of God which people are unfortunately ignoring and rejecting is that it delivers from calamities and demonic oppressions. In Luke 7:7, the centurion said to Jesus Christ: “Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto thee: but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed.” The Bible further says in Luke 7:10: “And they that were sent, returning to the house, found the servant whole that had been sick.” This incident corroborates Psalm 107:20: “He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.” Beloved, we must believe the word of God, act on it and make it our standard. Quoting the Scripture without living by it is an exercise in futility. Remember, only the doers of the word shall be blessed by it (James 1:25). Written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye. |
There are challenges in this world. This is what Job pondered upon that made him conclude that: “Man that is born of a woman is of few days and full of trouble” Job 14:1 However, we have the Lords assurance in Psalms 46:1-2, 4-5 that: “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea…There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High. God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.” When we surrender our lives to God, He takes it up from there and becomes our ready Help. Beloved, who is your pillar of support? If it is God, I congratulate you, but if it is someone or something else, it is unfortunate. The Bible says: “Thus saith the Lord; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord.” Jeremiah 17:5 Joshua 1:5 is very assuring. This is an unfailing promise to all of Gods children. As I have taught my children in the Lord on several occasions, if God be for us, the only person who can be against us is our very selves. God has no problem helping man but He gave him a free will. Thus, to access the help of God, man must ask. The Bible says: “I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:” Deuteronomy 30:19 The good news is that God has given us His Spirit to guard and guide us into the truth that we need to know, in order to make the right choice. Jesus Himself said: “…I am the way, the truth and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6 Surrender yourself to God through Jesus Christ, our Lord, and you will do exploits indeed. All the powers of darkness blocking your way to success and breakthroughs shall be destroyed in Jesus name. Written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye. |
From the beginning of creation God has designed man to be His representative on the earth. Man was created to act on behalf of God on the earth. Genesis 1:26 says: “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.” “Genesis 1:26” Man was relieved of his duty as a result of sin and lost all the privileges that should ordinarily have been easily his. However, the Almighty God offers us salvation through Jesus Christ who said in Matthew 11:28-30: “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” As many as respond to this call become Christs Ambassadors representing Him everywhere on the earth. This was the authority the early disciples had and one of the apostles wrote in our text of today: “And all things are of God who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation…Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.” 2 Corinthians 5:18,20 Beloved, are you a representative of Christ or the devil? Your response to Christs call will determine whose representative you are, according to 1 Peter 2:9. It is a good thing to be a representative of the Almighty God here on earth; the benefits are innumerable, ranging from the spiritual to the physical. What is expected of us is to live according to our calling not to disgrace the One who has called us but show forth His praise. I pray that you will not miss it as the first man did, in Jesus name. Power, particularly the one given by God is sweet. However, there is something sweeter than power and that is authority. When God gives you authority, you become a ‘small god’ in your own right (Psalm 82:6). God gave Moses authority to go and deliver the children of Israel from the bondage of the Egyptians and he became a god to Pharaoh and the host of Egypt. “And the LORD said unto Moses, See, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh: and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet.” Exodus 7:1 When we give our lives to Jesus Christ through faith, we become children of God by grace because He gives power to as many as receive and believe in His name (John 1:11-12). When we begin to do His will, following Him intimately, He gives us authority without measure. This is when we ascend to higher realms over and above principalities and powers of the devil. The unfortunate thing about many 21st Century believers is that they tend to be satisfied with the power to become children of God but hardly bother to possess spiritual authority like the believers of old. Many contemporary children of God operate below the level of the Old Testament prophets who were not privileged to have the kind of relationship we enjoy with the Holy Spirit. For example, in 2 kings 1:10, Elijah called down fire on those who came to arrest him. How many contemporary Christians can call down fire from Heaven? While it is true that we are to preach the gospel of peace, we are also to show forth the praises of our Lord Jesus Christ as His priests (1 Peter 2:9). Luke 9:1 says: “Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases.” The Bible also says in James 4:7: “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” To have such authority that will put the devil and his cohorts under our control; we must first submit ourselves to Jesus Christ. It is He who has all authority and power according to Matthew 28:18. Written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye. |
