Fruitfulness has qualifications, so does growth. Fruitfulness could be negative if the source and nature are outside the plan of God for an individual’s life. There is a kind of Fruitfulness mentioned in the epistle of Paul to the Galatians which is of the flesh – bad and deadly: “Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings,…” Galatians 5:19-21 There could be positive and blessed fruitfulness as found in Galatians 5:22-23: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance…” Let us look at the secret behind blessed fruitfulness. In John 15:1-5, it is clearly stated that abiding in Jesus Christ is the secret of bearing good fruit. The first secret of divine fruitfulness is being born again. Another secret is abiding in Jesus Christ. Jesus further said: “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.” – John 15:5 How then can we abide in Jesus Christ? It is very simple. Obey all His commandments. John 15:7-8 says: “If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.” Beloved, one other fact is that everyone will eat out of whatever fruit he or she bears – be it good or bad. Therefore, it is wise for you to decide today whether you want to bear good or bad fruit. The good news is that everyone is capable of bearing good fruit provided the fellow comes into Jesus Christ by faith in the saving power in His blood. He said “…if ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed” (John 8:31). Written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye. |
1. Father, we thank You for all our elders. Please, help them to stay true to their calling as men and women of wisdom. Whenever we go to them for advice, give them wisdom to answer us correctly. 2. Father, please help all our elders to finish well. None of them will lose their place in Your kingdom in Jesus’ name. 3. Father, please heal all our elders who may be sick in their bodies. Touch them and take away the sickness and all its symptoms in Jesus’ name. 4. Father, let none of the elders suffer the sicknesses and diseases that plague people in their old age. Father, give them divine health. 5. Lord, as You used Moses until age one hundred and twenty years, please continue to use all our elders for Your glory. 6. Father, for those of our elders who have stopped dreaming, please give them the grace to begin to dream again. It is not over until You say so, Lord. Our elders will dream again in Jesus’ name. 7. Father, protect our elders in all their ways. Let the blood of Jesus speak for them every day. Let no harm come near them or their dwelling in Jesus’ name. 8. Father, if there are lands and territories our elders have not covered according to Your will for them, please, help them to arise with strength to take over these territories so their assignments are completed in Jesus’ name. 9. Lord, by mercy, none of our elders will be put to shame in Jesus’ name. Their enemies will not mock them in Jesus’ name. 10. Father, we decree that our elders are blessed with long life and good health. They will see their grandchildren and great grandchildren even to the fourth generation in Jesus’ name. 11. Lord, no matter what happens, our elders will live fulfilled lives in Jesus name. They will see all their dreams come true in Jesus name. They will laugh for joy in the Mighty name of Jesus. 12. Your personal prayer point for the elders around you. Written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye. |
Proverbs 4:7 says wisdom is the principal thing because it promotes beyond human imagination. We also know that God promotes, thus we can say that belonging to God is wisdom. According to Proverbs 3:35, there are two types of promotions – glory and shame. There is glorious promotion for the wise and shameful promotion for the fools. Who are the wise? Proverbs 1:7 says that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Those who fear God are wise and because of this, they live a holy life. God says such people will have glorious promotions. Joseph is a classic example of a wise man. He feared God, abstained from sin (Genesis 39:9) and he was eventually promoted to become the Prime Minister of Egypt. It is foolishness to shun the cry of wisdom. Proverbs 14:16 says: “A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident.” Who are the foolish? Fools are those that know that “the wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23) and yet continue in sin. Fools are those who have decided to continue living in sin, despite knowing that without holiness, no one shall see God (Hebrews 12:14). God will never lower His standards; He is perfect in His ways (Matthew 5:48). He is ready to promote you if you live holy. A glorious promotion puts you on top, it also comes with many responsibilities and advantages, it requires listening diligently to the voice of God and keeping His commandment to the letter (Deuteronomy 28:1). Unfortunately, many Christians of today have overstretched grace to the point where they only obey God’s commandment when it is convenient. God will give you a glorious promotion if you keep His commandments. Being unfaithful, even in the “least” of God’s laws will be a hindrance. God’s children are always on top, enjoying divine promotion, special promotion and privileges, whereas those who are not obedient will suffer. I pray that the Lord will grant you the grace to live holy, in the mighty name of Jesus. Make up your mind never to live in sin again. Written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye. |
You cannot afford to be gentle with your enemy – the devil because if you do not get him first, he will get you. When the woman in Luke 18:1-3 prayed thus “avenge me of my adversary”, I assume: 1. That the adversary was not a stranger. 2. Since the adversary was known to her, it means the battle was not new. 3. The adversary must have wronged her significantly. Once an adversary discovers your weakness, he will keep hitting you at the same spot. 4. When the widow said, “my adversary”, it means the adversary was personal to her. It is sad that some people fight other people’s enemies-leaving theirs unchallenged. The fact that the woman cried to the judge shows that she knew she could not fight for herself; she needed a higher power. This is exactly what David knew and wrote in Psalms 35. Goliath was a mighty external enemy; however, it was easy for David to kill him. This is because David knew that the spiritual controls the physical even from the utterance of his adversary who said in 1 Samuel 17:43: “…Am I a dog, that thou comest to me with staves? And the Philistine cursed David by his gods.” Why did Goliath curse David by his gods and then go head to use his weapons against the lad? Beloved, unbelievers believe that no life can be taken if the thing they believe in does not allow it. It was as if Goliath was taken permission from his gods to take David’s life. As for David, he saw Goliath as someone who tried to ridicule the Almighty God. In the end, David dealt with Goliath. Some people seem to be more benevolent than God, to their peril. When they are asked to pray to God to fight their battles for them, they keep mute, thinking it is wrong to say such prayers, whereas the man whom Psalm 35:1 described as after God’s heart prayed when confronted with the destroyers of his life. While we are not permitted to take vengeance on our adversaries, we must act like the widow in Luke 18:1-3; she reported the case to a higher authority. God is the Righteous Judge and His judgment is the most accurate (Psalm 9: . As you do, the Lord will fight your battle for you today in Jesus’ name.Written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye. |
There is an adage in my mother tongue that says “When God has revealed your enemies to you; they can no longer kill you.” The belief is that once you identify your enemies, you would be able to relate with them with caution such that there would be no loopholes through which they can harm you. Today, many people become victims of the plots of their enemies because they cannot identify them. David knew this and that was why he did not leave any stone unturned to identify his enemies throughout his lifetime. 1 Kings 2:5-6 says: “Moreover thou knowest also what Joab the son of Zeruiah did to me, and what he did to the two captains of the hosts of Israel, unto Abner the son of Ner, and unto Amasa the son of Jether, whom he slew, and shed the blood of war in peace, and put the blood of war upon his girdle that was about his loins, and in his shoes that were on his feet. Do therefore according to thy wisdom and let not his hoar head go down to the grave in peace.” Beyond identifying his enemies however, David was always quick to go to God in prayer for deliverance. It is wisdom to hand over someone you cannot handle to the One who can deal with them on your behalf. There can be internal and external enemies; the former are more dangerous than the latter. This is because if the internal enemy does not open the door to the external one, you cannot get hurt. As we see in Judges 16:16-21, Samson never identified his internal enemy – lust, which led him to succumb to his external enemy – Delilah. Sin is the greatest enemy of man and resides in everyone yet to be born again. Apostle Paul described this in Romans 7:18-23. He however did not just lament about it, he dealt with it. Sin is the enemy within; it must be identified and dealt with decisively. How do we deal with this dangerous enemy? The only way to deal with sin is to confess it, forsake it and ask Jesus to use His Blood to cleanse you from it after accepting Him as your Lord and Saviour. If you do, you will be forgiven and made free from all the consequences of sin. Written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye. |
When God says surely, He means surely. When He says it will be well with you, nobody can change it. When He says surely, by His stripes you are healed, nobody can change it. He says surely, everything you do shall prosper and nobody can change this fact. This assurance can also be yours provided you dwell in the secret place of the Most High and you abide under His shadow. However, if you go away from Jesus, it would be an entirely different matter. Beloved, there are enemies prowling around unsuspecting children of God and Satan is their ‘commander’. According to 1 Chronicles 21:1: And Satan stood up against Israel, and provoked David to number Israel. While David was the one who conducted the actual census, it was Satan however that stood against Israel (1 Chronicles 21:1). Satan will always use someone against you. In Mark 16:17-18, Jesus assures us of victory against the attacks of the enemies. Isn’t it interesting that demons by which Satan maims, destroys and kills are the same spirits that Jesus has given us the authority to cast out Luke 9:1? This is why it is a sheer waste of time to dialogue with demons. You should exercise your authority completely without limits. In the same vein, our Lord has given us power to cure all diseases. No longer should you live at the mercy of the devil. 1 John 5:14 says: And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: Divine security is also for all believers who know their position in Christ. Take the battle to the gate of the enemy because victory is guaranteed in Jesus’ Name Some years ago, I experienced a spiritual attack that resulted in excessive stooling and vomiting. I cried out to the Lord and He healed me. He told me that He had just wanted me to have an idea of the unseen battles He had been fighting on my behalf. He had spiritually secured me in His hands. The good news is that even if you fall into the trap of the devil, God can deliver you from any attack of the enemy. The Lord will deliver you from all forms of disease and demonic possession in the mighty name of Jesus. Just call upon Him today. Written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye. |
Every one of us wants to be secure. This is why people search for security from any source. Unfortunately, many stray into the hands of the very one who wants to destroy them. The good news is Christians who are living holy already have the protection of God and have no need to worry. This is because God has built a hedge of fire around every child of His, such that Satan cannot reach us Zechariah 2:5. When Satan sees a child of God who is surrounded by fire, he keeps his distance. From the story of Daniel in our Scripture reading today, we see that it pays to live holy, Daniel 6:22 says My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions’ mouths, that they have not hurt me: forasmuch as before him innocency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt. Psalm 91:1 and 4-10 also contain some of God’s promises to His children; you must however be holy to access them. You cannot abide in the secret place of the Most High if you are not holy. This is because “…it is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it unto the dogs” – Mark 7:27. When God builds His fire around you, it will be so hot that the fire of this world will give way. The story of the three Hebrew boys in Daniel 3:24-28 confirms what Isaiah 43:2 says concerning the holy: “…when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.” As much as God is ready to secure you, engaging in sin can remove this cover and put out the fire. Whenever you sin, you create a barrier between you and God. Flee every appearance of sin because you may not be able to recover from the effect of the satanic attack that may come from it. I pray that your fire will not go out in Jesus’ name. Samson foolishly drove away the fire of protection from himself Judges 16:20, and the consequences were terrible. Beloved, if you want to be secure in this evil world, I advise you to live holy from today. Written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye. |
There is a need to make certain sacrifices if you would claim any rewards. The same rule applies to holiness. God has a sure reward for everyone who is living holy. For example, if you live holy, you would live long (Proverbs 11:19). Sin leads to death and holiness leads to life eternal. You will die young if you are indulging in sin. However, if you are living holy, Satan will not be able to get you into his death snare. Hosea 10:12 says: “Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.” The Scripture above is saying that if you plant holiness, you will harvest the mercy of God. What do we know about God’s mercy? Lamentation 3:22 says “It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed…” He will keep on showing us more mercy if we keep living holy. Peace is another reward of holy living. Philippians 4:4-9 gives a catalogue of what holiness entails, and it results in perfect peace. Holiness includes rejoicing in the Lord rather than grumbling, living a life of modesty, avoiding worry and covetousness, being truthful, honest, pure, loving and virtuous. The question is not what peace is but who Peace is. Jesus is the Prince of Peace. The first step to holiness is giving your life to Christ. God calls us to holiness and requires that we live a holy life through the help of His Son and the Holy Spirit. The call to holiness is actually the call to peace. When God calls you to live a holy life, He is actually calling you into peace. Why has God called us into peace? The answer is in 1 Corinthians 14:33. Our God is a God of peace. Just like a father would give to his child whatever he has, God is ready to give us peace. The devil on the other hand can only give sickness, sorrow and confusion. God is the King of kings and His Kingdom is everlasting. For you to enjoy His rewards however, you must enter into His Kingdom. To enter, you must be holy as He is. Those who live holy on earth will live with God, in Heaven forever. I encourage you to begin to live holy from now and the Almighty God Himself will perfect His holiness in your life today, in the mighty name Jesus. Written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye. |
When something is perfect, it means that it is good in itself and there is no complaint about it. It also means that it is so good that it cannot be improved upon. Thus, a perfect Christian is one without blemish. There are Christians who have been saved but not sanctified. Such people may easily get annoyed. Some are saved and sanctified and may not get annoyed as easily. I recall a rehearsal session for a drama that was to be staged in our Church years ago. A scene required that a character become very annoyed but the actor assigned to the role could not bring himself to demonstrate anger, despite numerous attempts. He had dealt so completely with anger in his life that he could not even pretend to be angry. May you be sanctified to this point and beyond in Jesus’ name. Without the power of the Holy Spirit however, even if you are saved and sanctified, you may still have limitations in fighting spiritual battles. Evil forces may overpower you if there were to be any encounter. 1 Peter 1:2 says: “Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.” To strive towards perfection as a Christian, you must first and foremost be Spirit-filled. Without the Holy Spirit, you cannot bear any of the different fruits (Galatians 5:22-23). For you to strive towards perfection as a Christian, three things must manifest in your life. First, you have to do things exactly how God Himself would do them. Knowing that God can only do things perfectly, you must see to it that you strive towards perfection in everything you do. Secondly, to strive towards perfection as a Christian, you will aspire to get to where God wants you to reach. You should never stop or rest until God’s purpose for you is accomplished. Many Christians backslide because they think they have attained the highest spiritual height. Thus, they become contended. Thirdly, you must be perfect as your Father in Heaven is perfect (Matthew 5:48). I pray that God gives you the grace to be so in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen. Written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye. |
Usually, when people think God is silent, He may be speaking but they are just not listening. At other times, they don’t want to accept what He has to say. God can also be silent when your covenant with Him has been broken. This happened with King Saul who wanted to hear from God as well as familiar spirits. If you have prayed to know God’s mind on certain issues and He seems to be silent, turn the searchlight on yourself. God is never at fault; check your heart, sincerity and willingness to accept His plan for you. God refuses to speak to some people simply because they have idols in their hearts. Never allow your desire to stand between you and God. When it appears as if God is silent, then there may be something you have to give up. Ezekiel 14:3 says: “Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their heart, and put the stumblingblock of their iniquity before their face: should I be enquired of at all by them?” Some people cannot hear God because sin has created a barrier between them and God (Isaiah 59:1-3) or they have a wrong motive. James 4:3 says: “Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.” For your prayers to be answered, you need to bring down the glory of God. God’s glory brings deliverance. Psalm 24:8 says the Lord of glory is strong and mighty in battle. I recall a student who wet himself in an examination hall. He was going to be excused from the hall when he asked the people around to send for his pastor. I was called and briefed of what happened. I got to the place and discerning that the boy was under some demonic manipulation, I commanded the foul spirit to lose its hold in Jesus’ name. God answered and he was immediately set free. He changed his clothes, returned to the hall and finished before everybody else. Just imagine what would have happened if I had not been in tune with the Spirit of God to know what to do. The shortest way of calling God’s attention when it seems He is silent is through intense praise. God dwells in the praises of His people. His glory announces His person and presence; it is a revelation of His power and awesomeness. No enemy can stand His glory. Call on Him today, listen to what He has to say and watch your life turn around for good. Written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye. |
Sometimes, you have to make a choice between two or more alternatives. As long as you are alive, you will always have to make choices; whether in your career, business, of whom to marry, place of residence or who to serve. For every choice made, there is always an alternative forgone. This is why it is very important to make the right choices in life. It is unfortunate that some so-called Christians want to eat their cake and have it at the same time. They want to be in Christ and in the world simultaneously. 1 John 2:15-17 has no meaning to them. Jeremiah 21:8 says: “And unto this people thou shalt say, Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I set before you the way of life, and the way of death.” Beloved, one of the most critical choices you have to make in life is the one between death and life. This is because it determines the kind of life you will live on earth and where you will spend eternity. You see, being a follower of a hero is not as important as knowing his or her final destination. Jesus has made it clear that as many who serve and follow Him will be with Him in glory (John 12:26). Moses called Heaven and earth to witness when he was asking the children of Israel to choose between the god of the gentiles and the God of their fathers – in other words, between the life-giving God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and the dead gods of the Philistines and other neighbours among whom they lived. who is your master – Jesus or Satan? After death, no one would be able to switch over to the destination of a master he or she did not serve while on earth. You cannot be with Jesus in eternity if you were not His follower before death took you away from the earth. You must choose wisely whom you will serve today – Jesus Christ or Satan. Beloved, I encourage you to choose Jesus Christ, the Giver of life, so that you can spend eternity with Him in heaven. Remember, there is no repentance or switching of allegiance in the grave (Hebrews 9:27). God bless you as you choose Christ today. Written by Pastor E.A Adeboye. |
When a man receives mercy, it would appear as if the fellow is wise or a genius. It would appear as if his righteousness has bestowed upon him divine blessings. What can one do without the mercy of God? The Bible says: “It is of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.” Lamentations 3:22 Luke 18:13 tells of the mercy enjoyed by the publican when he begged for it. Jesus said: “I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.” – Luke 18:14 What prevents some people from receiving mercy from the Lord is the failure to admit that we are sinners and that we need to turn from our wicked ways. It is amazing that some children of God are in the habit of living in the world where the end justifies the means. This is not the gospel. when they are caught stealing, they rationalize it by putting the blame on the fact that they are jobless. Some ladies claim to have taken to prostitution because they are jobless. And they need to take care of their aged parents. “Again, when I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; if he turn from his sin, and do that which is lawful and right; …walk in the statutes of life, without committing iniquity; he shall surely live, he shall not die.” Ezekiel 33:14-15 Another important thing to note is that it takes humility to acknowledge a sin or wrongdoing. The Bible says: “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.” Proverbs 28:13 Your day of mercy comes when you humbly ask for it from the One who is rich in mercies, that is, the Almighty God (Ephesians 2:4). Bring forth the day of God’s mercy in your life by calling on the Lord today for forgiveness if you have not repented of your sins through Jesus Christ. If you are already a child of God but seem to be lacking His mercies, call on Him like a child would cry to his loving father for mercy. You and your loved ones will partake of the Lord’s mercy in the mighty name of Jesus. Written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye. |
Everybody keeps hoping that his or her tomorrow will be glorious and of course would not want to die before it manifests. Ecclesiastes 9:4 says a living dog is better than a dead lion. In Ephesians 6:1-3, apart from the word of God saying that it is the right thing to obey our parents (both biological and spiritual), it goes further to announce the rewards of doing so. Of all the commandments God gave to humankind, it is the first with promises. Promises of what? Promises of long life and prosperity. The Bible says in Psalm 119:101: “I have refrained my feet from every evil way, that I might keep thy word.” This is the reason everyone must not only read but meditate on the word of God, in order to do the things that are written therein. The Bible in Joshua 1:8 says: “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” It is blessed to live our lives according to the word of God. We will not miss our blessing; failure, frustration and death will be far from us if we choose to live in the fear of the Lord. The Bible says: “The fear of the Lord tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.” Proverbs 19:23 Also, the word of God says: “By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life.” Proverbs 22:4 Beloved, it is our time to experience astonishing prosperity with long life – the prosperity that does not kill. Let us obey our biological parents as they teach us in the way of the Lord. Also, let us obey our spiritual parents as they feed us with the undiluted word of God. God will then step in by fulfilling His promises and all shall be well in Jesus’ name. Written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye. |
Jesus was at Bethany when a woman poured a costly perfume on His head. Some hypocrites saw it as a waste of resources because they felt the ointment could have been sold for a great price and the returns given to the poor. Jesus saw through their hypocrisy and said in Mark 14:6-7: …Let her alone; why trouble ye her? she hath wrought a good work on me. For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always. It is shocking that some people considered what this lady did for her Maker as waste. To their surprise, Jesus said she would forever be remembered for that singular act as she was doing it in honour of His eventual burial. There are many lessons you can learn from this. One, we should prepare our aged parents for their funerals long before they die. We can do this by taking good care of them while they are alive. This is because whatever fortune we spend at their funeral is mere exercise in futility. The dead do not appreciate golden caskets, neither do they eat delicacies. Two, the law of harvest will come to play. If we take care of our aged, all other things being equal, the younger generation would take care of us too. Another lesson we can draw from this story is that whatever we do for God is not only appreciated now, it’s kept in divine memory. We see this in Acts 10:4. What this woman did during the Passion Week over 2,000 years ago is still being talked about today in the 21st century. Jesus said the good deed of this woman shall be spoken of wherever and whenever the gospel would be preached and true to His word, it is happening. We must also learn not to listen to what people say whenever we are moved by the Holy Spirit to do something for God. We should be like Paul who taught us not to confer with flesh and blood before preaching the gospel Galatians 1:16. Don’t wait until your aged ones have passed on before celebrating them; the dead cannot appreciate any celebration. Take care of them while they are still alive, show your gratitude regularly and shower them with love continually. When you do this, they will bless you and you would be blessed indeed. It is almost impossible to explain the wonders of divine victory because the word ‘wonder’, on its own, is hard to describe and anything divine is beyond human explanation. This is why any victory with this combination is wonderful, to say the least. King Jehoshaphat enjoyed this kind of victory in 2 Chronicles 20. It was a wonder because it was divinely arranged. Rather than organizing bows, arrows, shields, spears and other war ammunition, the king simply organized an orchestra to sing praises to the Lord. 2 Chronicles 20:24 says: “And when Judah came toward the watch tower in the wilderness, they looked unto the multitude, and, behold, they were dead bodies fallen to the earth, and none escaped.” We find another example of wonders of divine victory in 1 Samuel 17:44-50. How else would you describe a small boy killing a giant, other than as wondrous? When the Almighty fights on the side of an individual, apart from the fact that victory is certain, the manner in which the victory is won would surprise many. When Goliath saw David, 1 Samuel 17:42,44 says: “he disdained him” and “cursed David by his gods.” However, David said to Goliath in 1 Samuel 17:45 that he was coming to him “…in the name of the Lord of host, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.” If you look carefully, you would see some elements of spiritual power play in this story. Goliath cursed David by his gods, however, David knew that the warfare would not be won by mere physical prowess, so he quickly switched on his own spiritual antenna. How the contest ended shows the wonders of divine victory. An ordinary stone in the hands of the anointed of God fell the giant that a whole nation had dreaded for 40 days. As a matter of fact, it was the sword of Goliath that David eventually used to severe his head from his body. David believed his God and he was not disappointed. The Lord fought on David’s side and the battle was won. Believe God and you shall be established 2 Chronicles 20:20 · Written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye. |
As Jesus promised, when the day of Pentecost was fully come, the Holy Spirit duly came upon His disciples. In like manner, Elizabeth, despite the delay with bearing the fruit of the womb, conceived and gave birth to John the Baptist in the fullness of God’s time (Luke 1:11-16). These events confirm that our God is a God of times and seasons as it is written in Daniel 2:20-21. The Almighty God moves very fast whenever He wants to do something. If it appears that He is slow in taking any action, you can be sure that it is because the set time has not fully come. God is not a slow worker at all. As we see in Genesis 1, He created the entire universe in just six days. Delay however, may not always be a good thing. In 1 Samuel 17:51, we see how God helped David to move quickly. Had David delayed in separating the head of Goliath from his body after stoning him to the ground, things could have ended differently. 1 Samuel 17:51 says: “Therefore, David ran, and stood upon the Philistine, and took his sword, and drew it out of the sheath thereof, and slew him, and cut off his head therewith. And when the Philistines saw their champion was dead, they fled.” One characteristic of God’s fullness of time is its sudden arrival. We see this in the Holy Ghost baptism experience in Acts 2:1-2. Similarly, it took God just one day to kick away famine from Samaria as we see in 2 Kings 7:1-18. When God moved, food became surplus in the land where people had started killing their own children for food (2 Kings 6:24-29). You must have confidence in God that He is able to do whatever you desire. According to Hebrews 10:35-36, that is the only way you can receive the promise. As you patiently wait for God’s time, you will encounter God and receive sudden breakthrough this season. Your day of celebration will come fully, in the mighty name of Jesus. Written by Pastor E.A. Esther 8:1-8 talks about the excellency of wisdom. As powerful as money is, there are things it cannot buy, however, wisdom can get you almost everything you need in life. While you may be able to afford a waterbed, money cannot buy sleep. It is the Lord who gives His beloved sleep (Psalm 127:2). Money can buy education but it will never be able to buy wisdom. How do you explain medical doctors who indulge in chain-smoking despite being fully aware of the adverse effect on their health? They are educated but are not wise enough to abstain from a potential source of death. Lawyers have been caught in criminal acts. They have legal education but are not wise enough to resist criminal tendencies. Only God gives perfect wisdom and we must turn to Him for it. Solomon knew this and that was why he asked God for wisdom. He later confirmed that wisdom is fundamental to living a successful life in Proverbs 4:7-8: Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her. When Solomon got divine wisdom, all other benefits followed. Where there is wisdom, there is wealth. During the reign of King Solomon, other kings would come to listen to his words of wisdom and on every visit, they brought along fortunes to bless Solomon with (1 Kings 10:23-25). When Esther was asked to make her request known to the king, she did not ask for peanuts – an additional crown, jewelry, boxes of clothes and so on, rather she asked for the preservation of her and that of the Jews in the kingdom whose lives were in jeopardy. When there is life, there is hope; Queen Esther knew this and thus went for it. What do you really want? Ask God for wisdom today and every other thing shall be added unto you in Jesus’ name (James 1:5). According to Proverbs 9:8-12, it takes wisdom to heed correction, especially when it comes from the word God. It is also wisdom to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness. As you do, blessings shall be added unto you, in the mighty name of Jesus. Written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye. |
While God indeed knows all things, He still wants His children to make their requests to Him. Despite knowing that Bartimaeus was blind, Jesus still asked him what he wanted Mark 10:51. He did this because He knows that our needs differ from person to person and from time to time. For example, while Elisha wanted the double portion of his master’s anointing, Gehazi wanted money and other material gifts. Esau wanted food instead of the right of the firstborn, whereas Jacob wanted the privileges of the first born. Some people ask for peanuts when they should be asking for things of eternal value. David desperately sought the Lord Psalm 42:1, and had only one desire in his lifetime: to dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of his life Psalm 27:4. Beloved, it is the intensity of your desire for a thing that would spur you to ask whoever can give it to you. You must, however, also be willing to pay the price. Paul desired to know Jesus and so gave up everything to gain Him. God is willing to answer you. Philippians 4:6 says: Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. How soon you want answers to your request also matters. Some people unknowingly postpone their season of celebration. Some people are like Pharaoh who told Moses he would want the plague of frogs to disappear from the land by “tomorrow” Exodus 8:8-10. Why tomorrow and not now? You may be asking the right thing at the wrong time. 2 Corinthians 6:2 says “…I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” The greatest request a man could make to God is salvation and it must be today if you are yet to encounter the saving grace of Jesus. Elisha did not waste time in telling his master that all he wanted was the double portion of his anointing. It was a hard thing, yet he got it because he knew what he wanted, why he wanted it and when he wanted it. The Lord will grant your request today, no matter how difficult it may appear, in Jesus’ name. Written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye. |
As believers, there are a number of lessons we can learn from the Scripture reading of today. We see that there is a possibility of breaking down God’s altar. When a child of God commits sin, he or she breaks down the altar of God. When that happens, the fellow needs to repair the broken altar before he or she can make progress spiritually, physically and materially. Elijah repaired the broken altar before he proceeded to offer his sacrifice. The result was that God answered his prayer by fire. You must know that you cannot walk with God while dabbling in sin. In the event that you slip into sin, God does not expect you to remain in that state; you must repair the broken altar immediately like Elijah did. There are many altars in the life of a child of God that the devil wants to destroy. These include the altar of praise, the altar of prayer, the altar of faith, to mention just a few. By the time you are done repairing the altar, your insufficiency becomes history, your weakness becomes strength and the impossible becomes possible (Matthew 17:20). Don’t allow the devil say otherwise to you; a broken altar can be repaired. As you repair the broken altar of God in your life through genuine repentance today, the Lord will turn your lack to abundance in Jesus’ name. When the bible says that we are the temple of God in (1 Corinthians 6:19), it is saying something important. One of the features of the temple is the altar. The altar is very significant in worship because it symbolizes the throne of God. The altar is where God abides and does whatever He wants. It is the place where He issues out decrees and orders the events that must take place in the universe. It is a privilege therefore to be the living temple of God and by extension the throne where God abides and exhibits His majesty. (1 Peter 2:5) says: Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, and holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. Your sacrifice will not be acceptable to God if there is sin in your life. Ask the Holy Spirit to search your heart and repent of every act of unrighteousness now. Written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye. |
When your results do not match your efforts, when you continue to meet a brick wall from every direction, you may be under attack from principalities and power. The good news is that God is going to deal with negative powers blocking your way to both spiritual and physical prosperity in Jesus’ name. We can draw a few things from the Scripture reading of today. One is that principalities and powers are personalities, and we must deal with them as such. Two, they are spirits, and cannot die. It will therefore take the power of God to deal with them. Every evil personality working against you shall be destroyed today in Jesus’ name. Ephesians 6:12 says: “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” The Scripture above is why Paul admonished believers to put on the whole armour of God (Ephesians 6:11). The armour includes truth, righteousness and acceptance of the gospel of peace. For evil gates to shift ground for your good, you must be born-again (John 3:3-5). Not only that, you must also live in truth and righteousness. You must be holy (Matthew 5:48). You must also take up the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit – which is the word of God, with prayer and supplication in order to be able to resist and defeat the devil (Ephesians 6: 13-18). Beloved, for principalities and powers to lose their hold, you must allow Jesus into your life as Lord. He is knocking at the door now; allow Him in if you haven’t (Revelation 3:20). I recall going to pray for a rich man to who had been afflicted. This man refused to give his life to Christ even in that state and he eventually died. My prayer for you today is that you will not be a victim of oppression; rather you will be a victor over the devil in Jesus’ name. Today is the day of salvation (2 Corinthians 6:2). If you have backslidden, you must return and restitute your ways (Revelation 2:5). Written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye. |
If you have given your life to Jesus, then you should have nothing to fear because you will begin to dwell in the secret place of the Most High where you are assured of His protection. There was no fear in man until he allowed the devil in. It was when the devil convinced Adam and Eve to disobey God that fear came in. After Adam and Eve sinned, they had to hide themselves when they heard God coming. When God called, Adam said he heard God’s voice and he was afraid (Genesis 3:10). Fear is the opposite of faith. While faith means that you believe God, fear means that you believe the devil. In other words, if you do not have faith, then you have fear. Fear belongs to the children of the devil. However, once you cross from the side of the devil to the side of God, there will be no more fear. This is because fear comes from darkness and since Jesus is Light, He will dispel all forms of darkness. When Jesus comes into your life, rather than fear, He gives you the Spirit of love, power joy and of a sound mind. Romans 8:14-15 says: “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.” Children of God are guided by the Holy Spirit. Jesus has promised to give all His children the power of the Holy Ghost so as not to be afraid. If you are a child of God, you have no business with fear. From time immemorial, God has always put a dividing line between those who serve Him wholeheartedly and those who refuse to. He always rewards everyone according to their works. If you are righteous, He rewards you so that you can remain so, if you are living in sin, He arranges for you to forsake wickedness and join the righteous family of God. Psalm 121:7 says: “The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.” With all these wonderful promises, you have no cause to fear as God’s child. Whatever is causing you to panic, the Lord will destroy it in your life and family in Jesus’ name. Do not be afraid, God is your refuge and the Present Help in the time of need (Psalm 46:1). There is power in the anointing, it makes the carrier do what is ordinarily, humanly impossible. From the Acts 10:38, you would see that Jesus was only able to achieve all He did because of the anointing. No wonder one of His divine titles is Christ the Anointed. Jesus performed miracles through the anointing. For example, In John 9, He produced brand new eyes for a young man who had been blind from birth. The good thing is that He wants us – believers, to do greater works than He (John 14:12). That is why He promised to send the Holy Ghost – the medium of anointing, to us as we see in Acts 1:8: But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. As believers we can do all things through the anointing provided we are willing to surrender to the Lordship of the Baptizer in the Holy Ghost. As you would see from the Bible reading for today, the anointing can destroy all forms of barriers to miracles, including the barrier of sin. When, in John 9:2, the disciples asked Jesus whether it was the man He healed or his parents who had sinned, He said neither of them did! This is surprising because according to Romans 3:23, all have sinned and this is an eternal truth. What happened with the blind man however, was that anointing had destroyed the barrier of sin that would have denied him his miracle. This is what the anointing can do. If we would do greater works, we must seek anointing through the work of Jesus’ atonement and press on to holy living. When we fail in our consecration to the Lord and also lack anointing, we begin to find excuses as to why miracles are not happening. While it is true that sometimes the people we are praying for may not have faith and may not be living right, we cannot deny that Jesus healed many people who lacked faith, He did this by the power of the anointing. Beloved, whether it is you who wants a miracle or you want it for someone else, the key factor is anointing. Receive the anointing as you believe In Jesus’ name. Written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye. |
“And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.” Matthew 1:21 The fact that Jesus is our Saviour is the major difference between Christianity and other religions of the world today. Why is Jesus Christ the one and only Saviour? You will find the answer to this in John 14:6 where Jesus testifies of Himself thus: “…I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” The validity of this claim cannot be disputed. According to 1 John 2:2, God Himself raised Jesus as “…the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.” Since sin entered the world” through Adam and Eve, the human race inherited it. Unfortunately for unbelievers, sin will continue to rule over them until they come to Jesus whose blood offers remission of sins (Matthew 26:28). In Acts 2:22-24, Peter plainly declared the mission, the passion and perfect atonement Jesus accomplished for mankind. Acts 4:12 corroborates this perfect redemption which Jesus brought to us. It says, “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Going by the weight of Jesus’ action, you would see why the author of Hebrews asked the fundamental question in Hebrews 2:3 “How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation …?” Jesus carried out His earthly ministry with great grace, and in a way that distinguishes Him from the religious leaders we see all over the world today (Luke 4:18-19), so much so that the Pharisees admitted that He taught as Someone “with authority” (Mark 1:22). Beloved, Jesus is the only way to God the Father (John 14:6) and He is also the only way to obtain true deliverance from demonic torment. He went about doing good (Acts 10: 38); He can do you good today, if only you· would accept Him as your Lord and Saviour and continue to live righteously. I sincerely plead with you to be wise. God bless you. |
God our Father, the creator of the world, always knows what is best for us. He knows how we should conduct ourselves and live a perfect life. In the beginning (after the fall of man in the garden of Eden), man became a free moral agent, doing whatever pleased him. However, because man is a spirit, he began to experience a deep spiritual yearning for his creator whom he lost connection with, due to the fall. The Bible says in Genesis 4:26 that “…then began men to call upon the name of the LORD.” However, due to man’s sinful nature, they could not call upon God effectively on their own terms. To bridge this gap and help man do it right, God gave the ten commandments using the Israelite's as the initial recipients. These commandments help us to know the general will of God for us daily. Jesus gave the basic summary of the commandments in Matthew 22:37-40: “…thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.” According to 1 John 5:3, the commandments of God are not grievous. However, the fallen nature of man prompts people to do everything against God’s will now and again. Jesus said in John 14:21 “He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.” The Bible verse above is a great litmus test. Do you really love God? You cannot claim to love God if you do not have His commandments in your heart (Psalm 119:11). You cannot claim to love God if you do not obey His commandments (John 14:15). If we love God indeed, it will show in our obedience to His commandments which are not grievous, especially when compared to the weight and consequences of sin. Written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye. |
Every believer should understand and practice waiting on the Lord. In 1 Samuel 30:1-19, we see that during David’s travails and exile, his base was raided while he was away with his men. All their property, wives and children were raided without mercy. On arrival, they were overwhelmed with grief so much so that they wept. Any other person would have automatically pursued the perpetrators of such an act immediately, but as we had noted in an earlier study, David sought the face of God for direction and waited on Him even though that did not seem like the smartest thing to do at the time. The smartest and bravest move that would have been expected of valiant soldiers like David and his men would have been to ensure that they did not waste any further time in going after the enemy. Ordinarily, the more time they wasted, the slimmer their chances of ever catching up and recovering their loved ones and belongings. David however, decided to wait patiently upon God and receive His instructions, approval and blessing before making any move. The Bible records that upon getting God’s word on the matter, they swung into action. Verse 19 of the same chapter reads: “And there was nothing lacking to them, neither small nor great, neither sons nor daughters, neither spoil, nor any thing that they had taken to them: David recovered all.” Your recovery in life, ministry, career and business might just be dependent on you waiting on the Lord for instructions before taking decisions. Waiting on the Lord includes prayer, fasting and usually, patience which is where most believers miss it. God is the all-in-all who knows the end from the beginning. There is no risk in waiting on the Lord. As David found strength to recover all by waiting on the Lord, this season may you also find strength for exploits in the mighty name of Jesus. As David pursued after his enemies and recovered all they had stolen, so will you recover every lost opportunity and blessing, in the mighty name of Jesus. Put God first always and wait patiently upon Him in every area of your life. He will never disappoint you. Written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye. |
A miracle happens when God suspends the law of nature in a particular situation. For example, Jesus suspended the law of gravity for a while so He could walk on water. It is often difficult to explain a miracle to unbelievers, because such occurrences defy natural understanding. The good news is that it does not matter what the world may say, my Daddy is the miracle-working God and when He steps into a matter, miracles happen. It has been God’s nature from time immemorial to do miracles. The creation of Heaven and earth was a miracle. Every principle established on earth started as a miracle when first made. Before it became normal for the sun to shine, God first performed the miracle of creation. When Jesus (God the Son) came, He established Himself as a functional part of the Godhead by performing several novel miracles. As many as these miracles were, the book of John 21:25 says: “And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.” We will use 2 Kings 6:1-7 as a typical example of a miracle. The sons of the prophets were carrying out a ministry building project when the axe head they borrowed fell into a deep river. The one from whose hands it fell cried out for help and got it in the most amazing fashion. Prophet Elisha threw a light log of wood into the river and a very heavy axe head floated in its place while the wood sank like a rock. God reverses principles to establish His will. He is not controlled by the principles He created; He controls everything! The principle of floatation was reversed and the sons of the prophets were saved from embarrassment. Nothing is impossible for the God of miracles (Luke 1:37). Put all your trust in Him. I decree and declare God’s miraculous intervention into every situation that wants to embarrass you, in the mighty name of Jesus. Written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye. |
Exodus 20:12 says that you must honour your parents if you do not want to die young. This is because of the law of harvest. Whatever you do to your parents, your children will do to you in future. If you honour your parent, you will live to become a parent and your children will honour you in return. The Bible says that God gets very upset at children who mistreat their parents. “Whoso curseth his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in obscure darkness” – Proverbs 20:20 The above passage tells you that you should watch what you say to or about your parents, so that your light would not be put out in the day time. In other words, if all of a sudden, a child thinks that he/she is now of age and prosperous and need not have any regard for his/her parents anymore, not only would the child die suddenly, he/she would do so in such a manner as to make people wonder “How can this be?” I want to appeal to you if your parents are still alive, that you honour them, if you want to live long and enjoy the blessings of God. This is the sole cause of the death of many young people these days, but because it cannot be scientifically proven, many people ignore it. Your parents, no matter how bad they may have been, are the ones chosen by God to bring you to this world. He knew how they would treat you before He allowed you come through them, and since we know that God does all things for our good, then our parents have a part to play in the fulfillment of our destiny. God brought you to this world through them, so the least you can do is to honour them. You may be saying “Oh, you don’t know what my parents have done to me; if you did, you wouldn’t be telling me to honour them.” Well, they may have been horrible to you, but you don’t have to extend the effect of what they did to you by dishonouring them. It is for your own good that you honour them because dishonouring them brings a curse. Forgive them for whatever they have done wrong and begin to honour them as from today. It is God’s will that you do so. Written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye. |
There are certain prayers that cause the earth to shake. Not prayers of “God give me this, God give me that”, though. I am talking about prayers of dedication, prayers like “Lord, my life is at Your disposal, do whatever You want with it. I lay my life on the altar and I become a living sacrifice to You today; Lord, use me for Your glory”. When God begins to hear these kinds of prayers, He will come down. Acts 4:23-31 tells us that the disciples were praying and thereafter, some people told them not to preach the gospel again. They gathered themselves together and said “Father, You hear what they are saying; over to You. All we ask is that You give us boldness, give us miracles, give us signs, so that we can preach more”. The Bible says the house shook. In 1979, my Father-in-the-Lord called me and four others to his room high up in Mayor Hotel in Tulsa, USA, saying “My children, I am going soon; the one who will be taking over from me is Pastor Adeboye”. I collapsed on the floor and everybody began to pray. You can be sure that the prayers offered were not the gentlemanly kind; they were serious prayers. Suddenly, we heard a knock on the door. On opening the door, we saw the maintenance manager of the hotel who asked what kind of musical instrument we were playing. We explained that we were not playing any instrument, but he insisted that we had to have been playing one as the hotel was shaking and the source of the shaking had been traced to our room. We insisted that we were only praying, but he didn’t believe us, so he checked under the bed, the wardrobe and looked everywhere in the room then left when he didn’t find anything. The hotel was locked down because they could not find the source of the shaking and they didn’t want to believe that it was just prayers. Recently, I went back there and as I looked at the hotel, I felt compassion for the owners, so I laid my hand on the wall and prayed a simple prayer. It was reopened six months later. It is very clear that the great things happening in the RCCG today are a result of the prayers that fateful day in our hotel room in Tulsa. If you want the glory of God to come down into your life and transform everything for good, you need to start praying earth-shaking prayers. Pray for power to do God’s work, pray for boldness to preach in any situation, pray for a national revival in your country. Written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye. |
There is tremendous power in faith. In Mark 9:23, Jesus Christ Himself said: “…If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.” When Jesus says “All things”, He really means all things. In Mark 5:36, when Jairus was told that his daughter had died, the Bible says: “As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.” And before that day was over, the one who had died came back to life. In Matthew 15:21-28, a woman came to Jesus praying. It appeared as though God was not even paying attention to her, but by the end of the day, Jesus said “Woman, great is thy faith.” In other words, He was saying that even if He had not wanted to grant her request, He would because of her great faith. There is so much power in faith that time and again, Jesus told people “Thy faith has made thee whole and they were whole.” So it was not so much of His power healing them, but the power of their faith in God. My Father-in-the-Lord once went to conduct a revival in our Church in Ilorin, and the Spirit of God moved him to say “If there is anyone here who is trusting God for the fruit of the womb, go and buy the appropriate clothes for the gender of the baby you want.” A woman heard and decided that she would do just that. When she got home, she bought a cot and baby boys clothes and displayed them where everybody could see. A lot of people began to laugh at her, saying she had gone mad out of her desperation to have a child. She ignored them, held on to the word of the man of God and nine months later, when the baby boy arrived; it was her turn to laugh. I want you to make your own move of faith now. Whatever it is you are trusting God for, make the move as if you have gotten it like that woman did. Since the Lord was gracious enough to hand over the anointing of my Father-in-the-Lord to me when he was leaving the world, I call on that anointing now to work on your faith and make your desires come true according to the will of God, in the mighty name of Jesus. The second death is mentioned on multiple occasions in the book of Revelation and it is synonymous with the lake of fire. It is a ‘death’ in that it is an eternal separation from God, the Giver of life. It is called the ‘second’ death because it follows the physical one. Our memory verse (Revelation 21: explains the second death in the most detail. From this Bible verse, we see a detailed list of those who will experience the second death. Check to be sure that you don’t fit into this list, because the second death is an experience you should not want to be part of at all. Check carefully, and if there is any one of these qualities present in your life, repent immediately. “He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.” – Revelation 2:11 The good news according to Revelation 2:11 is that no true believer will experience the second death. While the unbelievers are burning in the lake of fire, we will be in the presence of God rejoicing and praising Him forever. On which side do you want to be? If you want to be rejoicing in the presence of God forever, then you must overcome. You must overcome all temptations you are facing; you must overcome the devil and all his tricks; you must overcome the lusts of the flesh. The Bible tells us that no one will ever be tempted beyond what he or she can bear and that God will always make a way of escape for us (1 Corinthians 10:13). If you however say you cannot overcome the temptations facing you right now, then you are asking for the second death which comes with eternal sorrow, anguish and no way of escape. It is your choice. When we talk about greatness, we are talking about influence. You cannot call a man great if he has all the money in the world but nobody likes to obey him. My mother used to pray for me thus: “You will call one person and many people will respond”. She did not need to literarily say that I would be great even though that was what the prayer meant; all she had to say was that I would be a man of influence and the greatness was sure. When the Bible was talking about the great woman of Shunem, it records that when the Prophet asked if she would want a recommendation to the king or the Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces, she replied that she did not need assistance in that regard (2 Kings 4:13). She was a woman of influence. Since greatness is influence, then I’m sure you know that the one who is greater than the greatest is the Most Influential One. So, how great is our God? According to Philippians 2:9-11, our God has influence on earth and influence underneath the earth. He also has influence over the wind and sea. Mark 4:41 says the wind and the sea obey Him. He has influence over fire; He can turn the fiery furnace to an air-conditioned room. “The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.” Proverbs 21:1 The above passage says that God is so influential that He has complete control over the most influential people in the world. There is no area or person over whom our God does not have influence - none! Now, when God wants to make someone great, what He does is to give the fellow some of His influence. We see that very well in the case of Jesus Christ. After Jesus had paid the price for the redemption of man, God’s reward to Him was influence. This tells us one thing: the way to true greatness is to please God. I can confidently say by God’s grace that I am a great man because I strive to please Him every day of my life. Do you want to be great? Surrender all to Jesus and He will endow you with His glory (John 17:20-22). Written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye. |
When God created the earth, He looked at it and saw that it was very good (Genesis 1:31). Afterwards, He gave mankind dominion over all the resources. As a result, prosperity became the inheritance of every man. Unfortunately, man lost these benefits after falling into sin. Thankfully, God raised a second Adam to reconcile man to Himself. Beloved, as soon as you are reconciled to God by connecting to the second Adam – Jesus Christ, whatever God has will become yours. What does God have? He owns the cattle upon a thousand hills (Psalm 50:10), so you should not lack food. Among other things, gold and silver also belong to Him (Haggai 2: .Being God’s child means you have a mansion in the most beautiful estate ever, where the grounds is paved with gold. Isn’t that wonderful? “But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.” – Deuteronomy 8:18 If we would enjoy divine prosperity, we must not forget God because it is only through His power, we can get wealth. This means if someone does not have enough power to get wealth, most likely, such a person has forgotten God. Have you forgotten God? How is your relationship with Him? When last did you praise and worship Him alone without making requests? When last did you study your Bible all by yourself? Those who have not forgotten God obey His every word, so He gives them everything they ask for. Job 36:11 says: “If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.” Seek God first. Prosperity will follow (Matthew 6:33). God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him (Hebrews 11:6). Written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye. |
