I agree with you, its an environmental/cultural thing, but at the end of the day, it may mean that you become a person which when compared with people from other environments are less attractive for a relationship.
I actually  think if you go around Nigeria, there are vast differences between the people. Even just down to the type of family they come from, so yes its not all. Who has the time to be sifting through people, if there is an indiviual in your face who is giving you the type of attributes you want, and they happen to be white?

Isn't that what Nigerian guys are doing? Its you guys who come here and make the same comparisons with other cultures, so then you should understand what is being pointed out here.
hahaha. abeg slow down o. who is "you guys"?  U see. . . u sef are guilty of putting people in a box and labeling them.

u are hereby sentenced to 8 lashes of public flogging.   grin

I understand tho . . .  I just don't think having a preference for one race necessarily means u are discriminating against another.  Some people just find certain physical features more attractive, and in some cases skin color may be one. Robert de Niro, for example, is notorious for being attracted to black women. Some person may like big butts and would pick a chinese girl with a big butt over a black chik with a little butt, even tho he may be a black civil rights activist (can'tthink of any such example tho  grin ). That proves nothing, just trying to point out that people like different things for whatever reason and we may just be over-analysing here. Ultimately, IMO, it boils down to the individual.

Lol,  stereotypes stay alive because usually there is an amount of truth in them.
I think a lot of them are cultural things. I mean, for example, Nigerians may be described as confrontational people, and that may be correct, because Nigeria is a "rough" place and u kinda have to be aggressive and suspicious to get by or ahead successfully. But it would be wrong, IMO, to assume that u can not reason with a Nigerian because we are believed to be strong headed. SO it may not be wrong to say we have such traits, but it may be wrong to say those are "Nigerian" traits, or to use that as a basis for discrimination against Nigerians, because u will find that people in similar environments will probably have similar traits.
RomanceRe: Why Do Our Ladys Prefer The Poor Hungry Looking White Men To Our Good Looking Rich Men In The Countr by Krayola(m): 1:57pm On Mar 28, 2010
Most stereotypes are nonsensical. Subscribing to them may make u an . . . . . . . .  undecided

Abi una no dey watch Oprah and Dr. Phil?  grin

People like different things, IMO. If some chik picked a skinny white dude over your "good looking rich" self, she isn't necessarily discriminating. . . she may just be attracted to him, or maybe just very drunk,  maybe your lines were cheesy. . . maybe offering to take her shopping and buy her stuff after a 5 minute conversation was a turn off. Maybe u had bad breath on the day. Maybe u're just not her type. Maaybe the skinny white guy had mad game. Maybe she is a racist insecure biaitch, maybe he was her p.im.p. . ,   anything is possible. . .

Christianity EtcRe: Biblical Inerrancy by Krayola(m): 1:25pm On Mar 28, 2010
@ Nuclear boy. OK. If u say so. I don't go around looking for faults in the bible though. That I find them there does not mean I have an agenda to pick them out. I don't think we should question each other's motives. Just my opinion.

Did snakes talk at some point in history? Do virgins get pregnant? Do people survive in whales for 72 hrs and live to tell about it? Do people physically disappear into the heavens?  Can someone walk on water ? These are things that no one can prove never happened but appear in the Bible, and people believe actually happened. Our experience of reality, IMHO, calls us to be critical about literal interpretation of such claims.

how do u reconcile those with this statement u made earlier?

When reality points to a statement/understanding/idea being obviously wrong but we find people believing in it, we know thats not faith but delusion. Show me delusion in the Bible by proving the opposite of its claims and bro, I'll  be on your side like white on ice!
If a sincere person rejects faith for the simple fact that those statements make no sense based on reality as experienced by him/her, would that person be right to consider someone whose faith is based on the historicity of those claims "deluded"?

Will u at least concede that religion for many  individuals is based on belief in things that can legitimately be described as ridiculous/delusion by a neutral objective observer who has no interest in discrediting the bible, but is just going by what these individuals confess to believe?

nuclearboy:
The decisions you make are based on your belief that most, if not all, of these choices you made, are right - thats interpretation, aint' it?
I doubt I'm wrong in believing that a lot of the statements in the bible are not meant to be taken literally, or as scientific fact to be swallowed word for word and not questioned.  That they are not scientifically accurate is of no consequence to me. I wouldn't have brought that up had Myjoe not mentioned it, but I just think you insisting that people who point out such are looking to find faults in the bible is unwarranted. They may be pointing these out in response to people who insist the Bible is written to tell us only truths about all aspects of life, even science, geography, etc. I think that is a ridiculous claim and i think there is overwhelming evidence to support that. Forcing science, that didn't exist till thousands of years after the fact, into the bible is just kinda tacky intellectualism IMHO. Let's say they were wrong about the hare (scientifically speaking), so what? I doubt that was the point they were trying to make.

We thought the atom was the smallest thing. . . we know better, we changed the books. Try that with Genesis (This is for YEC)  grin

I don't want to cause another riot so I won't drop names. . . truth is, the realest gangstas don't try to be gangsta.
Abeg chop knuckle!!

WHen I hear rappers and every other line is about how they shot some guy or moved 10 kilos in a week or month or whateve, i just get irritated. Do u have any idea how much 10 kilos of blow costs? Who moves 10 kilos and goes home to record a rap song? grin grin grin chei. some rappers no go kill me. grin Now, as a rapper u have to make stuff up, fine. U gotta do what u gotta do as an entertainer. But when ur whole image/identity is built on the stuff u make up, it ain't gonna last. After a while people start to see through it. SOme people at least, some will just be gullible forever.

The difference between Jay-z and a lot of other rappers, IMO, is that Jay-z actually has stuff to say. He lived it, he aint just talkin it.  Most of these rappers have lived some nonsense corny lives and now want to claim gangsta. .  they don't evolve cause there's nothing to evolve into but more cornyness. grin

Black album, cn't pick  favorite song. Almost every song on that album was my favorite at some point in time. . .  except change clothes.  Moment of clarity and encore stand out right now tho. May have to listen to it again to remember. AIn't heard it in a while.

haha. I try to stay objective. I don't hype up my team when they don't deserve it. They haven't played well today.

We just need to try to keep the ball. We're horrible without it. Arsenal can soak up pressure better than us. IMO, if they can keep the ball away from us they can beat us. It's that simple.
