Christianity EtcThe Ripples Of Living Are Real by ksaylor(op): 10:01am On May 25, 2016
Every action we take on mother earth has a reaction however how silent or intangible the action may be. Hence the need for us to ensure that our actions or in-actions are meditated upon before we indulge in it.

And in this piece I decided to relate the ripple like effect one gets in throwing pebbles into a still water to the reactions of our actions in life because the ripples do not stop until they get to the end.

Having said that it goes to say that whatever befalls on us no matter its severity was initiated one way or the other by our actions or in-actions.

Like the great mystic Delai Lama will say: “When you think everything is someone else fault, you will suffer a lot. When you realize that everything springs only from yourself, you’ll learn both peace and joy.”

It means that the failure you experienced in that marriage, career or business came about because you failed to either do something or over did something...see more on https://themindplay.com/2015/02/03/the-ripples-of-living-are-real/

LiteratureWhat Use Is A Tasteless Salt? by ksaylor(op): 10:13am On May 12, 2016
I have thought on what is the relevance of a thing or being if it loses its essence thus the above subject matter. If the essence of salt of adding taste loses its essence then it loses its being or reason for existing.

In the bible, it was said that humans are the `salt’ and `light’ of the earth but with the present acts of chaos caused by we humans on mother earth I think majority of us have lost the salt in us.

So I think for those of us who have lost our saltiness and light this is the time to reflect on our activities on mother earth especially as year 2015 draws near and vow to regain our essence as humans on mother earth...see more on https://themindplay.com/2014/12/27/what-use-is-a-tasteless-salt/

LiteratureTHE PASSIONS: Hope And Fear by ksaylor(op): 10:50am On May 06, 2016
The piece below is from the pages of mysticism and I believe all should see and once in a while I intend spilling the great wisdoms of sages. Please bear with the language is of old. It is from the works of Rosicrucian.

THE PASSIONS

Hope and Fear

Promises of Hope are sweeter than the rose in the bud, and far more flattering to expectation, but the threatening of Fear are a cross upon which the rose is crucified.

Nevertheless, let not Hope allure, nor Fear deter thee from doing that which is right; so shalt thou be prepared to meet all events with an equal mind.

The terrors even of death are no terrors to the good; he that committeth no evil, hath nothing to fear.

In all thy undertakings, let a reasonable assurance animate thy endeavours; if thou despairest of success, thou shalt not succeed...read more on https://themindplay.com/2015/03/03/the-passions-hope-and-fear/

PoliticsCoping With Challenges by ksaylor(op): 10:03am On May 05, 2016
As long as you breathe then you must welcome the challenges that living keeps bringing up.

“Perils, and misfortunes, and want, and pain, and injury, are more or less the certain lot of every man that cometh into the world.”—Unto Thee I Grant.

It is only one who is foolish that will think otherwise to the above quote.

Challenge is defined as a new or difficult task to test somebody’s abilities and skills/or a call to enter a competition or fight.

I am no great philosopher who will profess certain steps or guaranteed steps in coping with challenges that life and living keeps bringing up.... read more on https://themindplay.com/2015/01/15/coping-with-challenges/

Christianity EtcBelief, Is On You! by ksaylor(op): 9:43am On May 05, 2016
Our mind has a great effect on what we do and do not do, what we like and do not like, what we say and do not say which overall makes up our belief system.

But I’m here to say that we only believe what we want to believe not matter how illogical or logical that thing may be.

That is why at one point in Nigeria it was said that twins were evil and later turned out to be a barbaric belief. Also, that it is why certain religions denounce the eating of pig, cow etc because of what they have decided to belief in.

The question is what are we to belief, and how true or false is it? We belief most times those things that are pleasing to us or favorable to our present situation as humans but most of all our belief system or pattern is shaped over time through experiences through reading, engaging in actions and other means...read more on https://themindplay.com/2015/02/03/belief-is-on-you/.

As a young Nigerian, seeing the power of the votes of the people at the March 28, 2015 presidential election made me feel more than elated but hopeful and once again a believer of the power of togetherness.

I grew up to meet a political & socio-economic era where the status quo was “change is impossible”…“business as usual” but March 28 showed that change like death was inevitable.

What we have now in Nigeria, is a political change that took sixteen years to achieve but what is most important....read more on https://themindplay.com/2015/04/15/what-muhammadu-buharis-sai-baba-victory-means-to-me/

LiteraturePatience by ksaylor(op): 9:34am On Apr 22, 2016
patience told me; trade not procreation with pleasure,

stubbornness, my heart’s sweetheart

and like a wild fire it spreads through my being,

curiosity, my guardian angel,

gave me a bulging stomach.

sweethearts at nights and corners,

vanishing like a mirage.

regret and shame my companions

as I reap the sown seed, from five minutes of pleasure.

patience told me: patience is the way.

CelebritiesCan I “social Media” Judge You…? by ksaylor(op): 11:49am On Apr 21, 2016
Girl: All what I wrote I did not mean it; it is just social media talk.

Boy: Really?

And the kisses you blew and the dears/boos you wrote to him time after time were just you social media-ing and not the real you?

Girl: Yes.

So can I “social media” judge you….It is no more news that the social media has almost eroded traditional inter personal means of conversation which has also led to a decrease in the integrity of people’s words or conversation via the social media.

Nevertheless, there is no doubt that the social media was intended like all new technologies to enhance man’s inadequacies positively although most times the purpose gets twisted.

So back to whether what people do (what they do/say, websites they visit overtime etc) on social media is a reflection of what they belief, yearn for or who they are? So I had to sample opinions of certain persons who engage in social media and below are their various views.

Abike is a female journalist and believes that she does not think what one does on social media is a reflection of the person however that it also depends on the person.

While Oluchi (female) who is an event planner agreed that it reflects but explained that it is not in all cases. And she can only speak for herself.

However, Lonzo, a businessman vehemently agreed that what one does on social media is a reflection of who you are and your state of mind.

When further asked if one cannot have a social media life and a real life, he disagreed stating that your engagements in social media depict your inner person or yearnings.

Ada, another female journalist, said it is a yes and no answer for her. She said that one can have interest that do not define one’s personality even the topics discussed with friends via social media and all.

Well, as for me I can only ask questions for now, would it not be tantamount to living a double life if what you say/do on social media differs from what you practice or say in real life settings. Thus, you can be called a fraud and liar?

Should we then take social media with a pinch of salt and look upon it as a craze no more, no less?

My final words will be, integrity as a trait does not rather should not have a limit but be a way of life.

In essence, why should you say or do what you do not mean on social media when you know you are misleading someone somewhere. Just saying….

CelebritiesRe: Nigerian Celebrities And The Habit Of Having Children Out Of Wedlock by ksaylor(op): 10:43am On Apr 21, 2016
well, no one is castigating the celebrities but just a call to action as "role models".
CelebritiesNigerian Celebrities And The Habit Of Having Children Out Of Wedlock by ksaylor(op): 9:33am On Apr 21, 2016
It is no longer news that Nigerian celebrities especially those plying their trade in the musical sector of the industry now have as a habit to have children out of wedlock. In fact, in the entertainment clime the word “baby mama” has become a fad and it refers to the women who have babies for these entertainers out of wedlock.

If one should take a closer look at the whole thing, you may begin to think that these male entertainers take it upon themselves to get women pregnant without the intent of marrying them, now the question is why is it becoming the habit of Nigerian celebrities.
Is it that it is safer and less of a burden to be legally married to a lady, one will avoid the hassles of being faithful, monitored or questioned for having other relationships or are they avoiding the consequences of divorce should they get married legally? Do these entertainers in essence want to protect their wealth by just having baby mamas or is it that the exposure they get in executing their duties makes them victims of having so many women ready to give themselves on platters of gold as it seems or then again, are these male entertainers just merely in- disciplined to control their sexual urges or do they feel most of the ladies they come across just want the money and fame but lack love?

Well, whatever, the reasons that one may come up with, it remains a fact that it portends no good for the industry that baby mamas has become a craze or in-thing because these young men are supposed to be role models and as such they should act accordingly by respecting the fact that the Nigerian society does not smile on procreating out of wedlock.

Also, there is the fact that they also do not help in showing the youths of the society to have a safe sexual life style especially with the numerous sexually transmitted diseases out there such as HIV and Zika, with some of these celebrities even having more than one” baby mama”.

The negative effect of this trend does not stop there for it has helped in supporting the idea among the male youths that the Nigerian lady is easy to get as long as one has the money which will go ahead in eroding the value the Nigerian lady is to have and the value of holy matrimony.

Aside the irresponsibility it portrays, it also has a long lasting effect on the children who are brought into the world because they tend to have a divided home or lack the presence of one or both parents which in the long run will have its negative effect on the society.

We can only hope and pray that this new craze becomes minimal in 2016 because a society filled with kids out of wedlock only shows how irresponsible that society has become in adhering to its morals and societal values.

However, we can not out rightly condemn or crucify these men who engage in these acts because like the saying goes ” it takes two to tangle”(I thought it was tango, like the dance), the ladies who get involved with these men should try to act with some level of decorum (does decorum still exist in show business) whereby they do not just engage in sexual acts without protection for women or mothers are the bedrock of every society for they are the custodian of values and morals to be inculcated into the lives of their offspring.
That been said it is no more entertaining that Nigerian celebrities have tolled (towed)the ways of the Western entertainers by embracing the baby mama craze, we all know it is an entertainment industry but there should be a limit in the life of an artist in allowing entertainment into his/her lives.
