Poor man mentality

Is there anyone who have had experience with such situation before. I transferred money to a friend and it happened that the account i sent the money to was closed by this said friend sometime ago. I got debited for the transfer and since the receiving account is already closed he hasn’t received it yet. Told him to visit his bank and he was told that the account is closed there’s no way money can come into a closed account. I have visited my bank as well and i was told the money should be in the other account which is the receiving account. How do i go about this please
