For all those wondering whether applicants with low CGPA's could be admitted, I think it would only take a miracle for a below 2-1 degree to get into any Masters program in Norway. Your surest bet is a 2-1. I was the only Nigerian that made it to UiT in Autumn 2016 as an international student, and I look forward to having more of my people here next year. By the way, I still believe that all your questions have been answered on this thread. Go through it diligently and get informed. Good luck pals! 1 Like |

I've lived in Tromsø, MSc in Tech and Safety at UIT for one month and it's been awesome. The weather isn't as treacherous as I expected given our closeness to the Arctic, but it's still summer anyway LOL. Thanks to all those who took out time to contribute to this forum from page one till date. And I wish to support the suggestions of my colleagues that newcomers should read through all the pages of this thread and google information regarding their choice of institutions before asking specific questions. It's absurd to see guys asking questions that were already answered a few comments before. It doesn't show seriousness, which you can all agree with me is an essential recipe for success during the taxing period of residence permit application and studying afterwards. However, to clarify some doubts , I got an evening job which could take care of my monthly bills after 2 weeks of arriving in Tromsø. I was quite lucky though. The average waiting period is 6 months. But I think a good relationship with old working/schooling Africans/Nigerians in your town of residence is your surest bet. Goodluck folks! 6 Likes |

jamsey: Olujastro has said it all. I'm sure you would get your RP before then. UDI assures that all applications submitted in June/July would receive reply before August 15. By the way, which school were you admitted? Goodluck! |

Good day peeps, Olujastro and I were discussing today and we decided to drop the application processing timelines of four of us who were connected via this forum. We hope it would be helpful to future applicants who might want to know the average time it took us to be granted residence permit after submission of documents. Hello friends, I applied for the Yes-p program few months ago. However, I got ill and have been away from the Internet for 2 months. Upon getting back online, I checked my inbox today and realized I was shortlisted. Is it too late for me to take my spot on the program? If yes, how do I proceed? Please I need some honest advice here. Thanks in advance. |

Great job Olujastro! It's been a long and brain-straining journey for those of us who have successfully transfered the funds and applied for residence permit. Apart from Olujastro, Loco2 and Kenny, are there other guys waiting for UDI's decision in the house? |

AdaAnambra: AdaAnambra I have been communicating with them through that email for weeks. They keep promising to deliver but so far they haven't debited my account. It's been 4 weeks since I applied for the transfer using form A. |

iXavier: Hello Ixavier, it is far more expensive to source foreign exchange via black market. Many of us can't afford the black market equivalence of the deposit because the difference in the converted sum, going by CBN's current rate(198 per dollar ) versus what we have in the black market(320 per dollar ), is about 1.5m. And that's of course if it isn't yet worse than that. |

Hello guys, other than Loco2, has anyone else succeeded with their transfer of deposit? I've been with Ecobank unsuccessfully for 4weeks and thinking of switching to another. Any suggestions? |

Kulex: In order not to misinform my fellow nairalanders, let me correct my initial post. A friend of mine who has successfully transfered his deposit was at the visa office today, where he found out that the receipt for the verification fee must be provided before they will accept his documents. I guess the customer care agent that spoke to me was an apprentice. Please take note. 1 Like |

ToluNorsk: I think what they meant is that you met the admission requirements, but the department is fully booked with other applicants. No space left. Meanwhile, this is just a personal opinion. You would have been given more information on how to to proceed, if you were admitted. |

stewiepeter: Hey guys, I called the Norwegian visa office customer care hotline to inquire about the necessary payments and was told that we are only required to pay a processing fee of N7100 at their office, when we submit our documents, after making the online visa application payment of 3200 Nok( I was charged N125000 via my Ecobank mastercard debit card for that, due to the High dollar rates I guess ) The good news is, the customer representative told me that she is not aware of the certificate verification fee. It appears it has been scrapped. Just thought I should let the house know |

I guess there's some hope for those of us seeking Forex. It seems that CBN is still giving Forex to students. http://leadership.ng/business/521308/forex-petroleum-products-school-fees-take-20m-reserves-1-week |

loco2: Loco2, I was able to apply with my savings account at Ecobank. However, I was told it might take up to one month, due to the recent forex restrictions . So, my fingers are crossed and I hope they get it done sooner. Meanwhile, have you heard any news about Buhari's present position on forex for students? I'm really worried about his statement on Aljazeera. If true, Cbn may never approve our Form A application. |

spiritassassin: Hello spiritassassin, I have been doing some research since I got my admission letter and the fact remains that the cities of Norway have narrow temperature differences . And as for getting a job or proceeding for phd, a masters degree from tromso presents a wide range of opportunities. We need to talk . Are you on bbm? 1 Like |
