Anybody who can should please tell them we are tired; sick and tired actually, no; we are hell tired of the waiting. If they ain't giving us the job, or if they thought they wanted to employ and only recently found they didn't afterall, they should say something so that we can get on with our lives and perhaps leave their cursed country for them. Why is it taking them forever to pick 70 from 220?

They can just write the names on small sheets of paper and put these in a basket. Then they squeeze the pieces of paper into very small balls and say: 'Mini mini mani mo; father has a donkey; donkey dies, father cries; mini mini mani mo.'

After saying that, they dip into the basket and pick seventy. Tadaa! Then they invite the seventy for induction.

Haba! Are they the first people to conduct interview? Shio! Let them go and sleep, o jare! What rubish.

Adrian, I missed your posting today. As I tried to tell you in my text message, I do feel somewhat stretched by the longer-than-one-year waiting. It is sad that it has to be so; but this is Nigeria, and we cannot kill ourselves. Ours is not the worst country; at least, we still have Zimbabwe to disdain. 'I was complaining I had no shoes, till I saw someone that had no legs.' Tolagbaju has said it all: we may not hear from them till mid October. You can imagine what that feels for me. I finished serving since 14th August, and I am still retained as a kopa in Intercontinental Bank Plc, with 12 others here in the hot Kano sun, trekking to market for the bank everyday, and expected to be grateful because there are no jobs out there. They have refused to call us to Training school or to upgrade our status more than a month after we took off the khaki. And we should be thankful, because there are no jobs out there. If I were an American with a first class degree (the best graduating student in all the university for my set), would I be in this condition? And yet in the House of Reps, a devilish woman is asking for N98 Million for body massager, and N628 Million to put stove in her kitchen. May God judge everyone in this country, as I have nothing more to say. Goodnight.

Yes, I think talent is it, Adrian. But it's probably not only talent, but marketing the fruits of the use of that talent. This is where others come in. And it calls for organization. And the workings within that organization, for the goal of profit. Profit that will eventually be shared by the owner of the talent (in form of royalties) and the owner of the organization (in form of dividends). Except of course the owner of the talent is the owner of the organization. Like Oprah and Seam Combes.

We get home sometimes by nine in the night here. Phew! I wish I never had to work, and I do wanna find how people get to be billion dollars rich.   Hmmmm.

We are waiting for one of the greatest things to have happened in our lives. Being invited by NLNG. Adrian's faith inspires me, as does the faith of all my homies in da house as well. I simply pray that we hear from them before my birthday in the second week of October, and I told Adrian as much when he came to see me. In time, the message from God concerning our situation will be clearer, I hope. Let us be strong in this our waiting period.

Tolagbaju, eku asan-o! Thank you very much for the insightful information. In the first place, I am not surprised that up to 220 of the lot of us were chosen. You need to have seen the calibre of people that presented themselves at the Centre. What baffles me a little though is this: If NLNG needs only 70 (and we may assume this is the case, since it is the second time we are hearing this certain number), how are they going to make the selection based on the criteria that you have laid out. For example, let us say that out of the 220 people, 90 are allocated to production, but only 35 needed; when these 90 names get to the production manager, is he going to pick the best 35 on the list (or do the 35 all have equal chances of being taken, in which case, the names are wrapped in pieces of paper and picked from a bag or something (this might be where mother luck comes in, to borrow your usage). And if he makes sure that each of the 35 names he picks is from each state, what if there are no individuals from any one state in the 90, but say, 10 from that state in another manager's list? Will they compare notes? How will they be sure that all states are represented? And when you say course of study, does this criterion supercede competency?

There are probably a million and one other questions, some of which you may not even have the answers to. But the only way forward is tho hope in God, and completely entrust ourselves to His will. It is well with us. These days, I guess I am simply resigned.

In addition to faith, we are asked to have hope. Remember Psalm 42:

Like the deer that yearns for running streams,
so my soul is yearning for you my God.
My soul is yearning for God, for the God of my life;
when can I enter and see the face of God?
My tears have become my food by day and by night,
as I hear it said all the day long,
Where is your God?
Why are you cast down my soul, why groan within me?
Hope in God and praise Him still,

Let us analyze the above psalm, and you shall see how it ministers to you in our situation:

1. Like the deer that yearns for running streams, so my soul is yearning for you my God: Here, the psalmist was desperately longing for God. He was in grave need. We all know how deer long for water. The other day I was passing by a sheep that had been starved of water for long, and in Kano sun for that matter. I was coming from the well, and I offered it some of the water I had fetched; it was not my sheep, of course, but I was moved to share; come and see  how the animal gulped down the water; I had to go back to the well and fetch another bucket. In our case, we are looking  for a job, and our souls are yearning.

2. My soul is yearning for God, for the God of my life; when can I enter and see the face of God?: Here the psalmist emphasizes the great need and shows how urgently he wants that need to be met. He asks rhetorically, 'When can I enter and see the face of God?' In our case, we have begun to apply for a job, and have written tests plus an Assessment centre, and we are very urgently wanting an answer, and possibly you want it now; we ask ourselves: 'When, o when shall we get this job?' It is an expected feeling. I tell people: 'Anxiety is good.'

3. My tears have become my food by day and by night as I hear it said all the day long, where is your God?: The psalmist was so longing for his God that he began to imagine that everyone was asking him about his God, that they could see his longing on his face. In our own case, we may even begin to imagine that when our parents or our friends talk to us, they are implying we should go and get that job; we receive news that this and that person have got jobs; some of those who care about us urge and compel us to go and get that job; and we are overwhelmed with emotion, even brought to the point of fearfully weeping, imagining that everyone is saying: 'Won't he go and get that job?'

4. Why cast down my soul, why groan within me?: As we walk along and recall our days as a kopas, we realize that there is nothing more to disctract us; we see time flying and we are seeming to stand still. There may be depression creeping into our souls, and we are alarmed that we may be somewhat sad, somewhat discouraged. We sigh; there is that swooning melancholy. Some souls are cast down and groaning. Why me? This something some may ask.

5. Hope in God and praise Him still, my saviour and my God: 'But they that trust in Yahweh shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and shall not be weary; they shall walk and shall not faint.' In our case, we must have hope and absolute faith in God. Do you recall that song: 'Odisappointighi m-o; ka mgbe ji were ya we mere chi m-o; o disappointighi m-o, ewoo!' The singer was saying that since she made God her God, she had not been disappointed by him. And it will be the same for you. Have hope. Your future is eternally colourful. I sincerely believe so. The message is the same: 'Hang in there. It is well with you.'

When you say rumour has it that we are going to training school as of the 17th, to what extent can you say that the information is factual? As in, whom have you been talking with. As of yesterday, those in HR here did not seem tohave anything concrete. Though I cannot see why we should finish September without anything happening to advance us. But if what you say is true, it means that it is only next working week that stands between us and training school. Monday to Friday (10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15). Saturday and Sunday (16, 17) may then be for preparation. I hope you are right, but then these days I care not. I am learning to take one day at a time. I know for sure that it must be this September that a change in my life will come: NLNG or continuation with Intercontinental Bank. Both are good options, in view of the high level of unemployment in the land. We are blessed. The bible says: 'When Yahweh freed you (from unemployment), He intended you to remain free. And so we are; so we shall remain. I will try to live it up. And as I am sure, so will you. Take care, brother. We are very lucky.

How to get to Bonny
Bonny Town is only accessible to Port Harcourt/other parts of the State and indeed, the outside world by Air and Water. Water is the most commonly used form of transport. A journey from Port Harcourt to Bonny lasts between fifty and seventy-five minutes depending on the speed of the boat used. Normal take off point from Port Harcourt is the Bonny jetty, off Creek Road, Port Harcourt and take off point from Bonny is the Coal Beach Jetty, off King William Dappa Pepple Road, Bonny. Open outboard commuter boats are available on a regular basis from 0530 to 1900 hours daily. Transport fare to and from the Island ranges between three hundred and five hundred Naira.
Tourist Attractions
Bonny town is the bastion of culture in the Niger Delta. The Maiden outdooring ceremony - Iria/Bibite, which initiates young maidens into womanhood is mandatory for all Bonny women. It accords women the right to tie double traditional wrappers to formal occasions and is always celebrated with pomp and pageantry all year round with the peak periods being around the Easter and Christmas seasons. Bonny Kingdom is also noted for her rich and colourful masquerades that have been the toast of the nation. Famous masquerade groups in Bonny include - Hart House, Ibaniwari, Allison House, Alagbariagha and Iwoama Owogbo groups. Other tourists attractions include the yearly Nwoatam Festival, which is a rallying point of all the people of the Kingdom. It is displayed annually on December 25. There is also the stretch of white sand beaches along Agaga and River Seven beside the Atlantic Ocean.
Commercial activities/major industries
Bonny Kingdom plays host to Shell Petroleum Development Company, Mobil Producing Unlimited, Chevron Nigeria Limited and Nigeria LNG Limited.
Banking
There are currently eight Commercial banks and two Merchant banks as well as two insurance houses operating on the Island. Other cottage industries exist but on a small scale. These include bakeries, block moulding, tile manufacturing as well as gas and welding industries

Bonny Kingdom has many hotels and guest houses.
