Seven left-leaning Christian leaders were arrested on Monday after protesting inside of a congressional office building on Capitol Hill in opposition to President Donald Trump’s “immoral” budget proposal. The seven detainees were a part of a large group of left-leaning Mainline Protestant leaders who demonstrated outfront of the United Methodist Building on Maryland Avenue around noon Monday as part of the annual “Ecumenical Advocacy Days for Global Peace with Justice.” The leaders called Trump’s budget proposal, which would cut many aid programs and increase military and border security spending, “sinful.” After a handful of faith leaders representing the United Methodist Church, the Presbyterian Church (USA), the United Church of Christ, the Progressive National Baptist Convention and other organizations spoke outside the Methodist building, those gathered prayed for Congress to reject Trump’s budget proposal, saying that it “invests in war at the expense of poor and marginalized people.” Following the prayer, dozens of participants marched a short distance to the Hart Senate Office Building. Once inside the building, the participants who were willing to risk being arrested for civil disobedience dropped to their knees in a circle and began praying and singing spiritual songs like “Wade in the Water” and “We Who Believe in Freedom Cannot Rest.” Read more here: http://kvibes.org/7-christian-leaders-arrested-protesting-trumps-budget-proposal-on-capitol-hill/

If you haven’t already heard of the book The Case for Christ, it tells the story of Lee Strobel, who was an award-winning, legal editor at the Chicago Tribune in the 1980’s. Lee was an avowed atheist, but one day his wife came home to tell him she had decided to believe in Jesus. This was difficult news for him, and set him on a journey to investigate the claims of Christianity in order to prove it false, and save his wife from what he considered to be a cult. After nearly two years of meeting with experts, and weighing the evidence, Lee concluded, as an atheist, that there was an avalanche of evidence pointing to the truth of Jesus Christ, and Lee chose to put his faith in Christ. In 1998, he shared the story of his journey in the book The Case for Christ, which has gone on, with follow up books, to be read by more than 14 million people worldwide. If you follow my posts, you probably know about this movie already, and my friendship with Lee. He has spoken at several of our conferences, and has become a friend over the past few years. We’ve been thrilled to partner as a ministry on the impact of this Pure Flix film by sharing it with as many people as we can. Opening weekend for a film is very important. This is especially true for faith-based films. Packing out theaters on opening weekend will potentially cause “The Case for Christ” to be shown in more than 2,000 theaters nationwide on Easter weekend, doubling the initial impact, and paving the way for the film to impact millions of people around the world in consecutive months. It is my great hope that you will see the film this weekend, and take a few friends along with you. Consider buying group tickets for your church, or doing a theater buyout in your city. And share your excitement about the film with everyone you know. Let’s all mobilize behind this film to help it have the biggest impact possible. HERE ARE 4 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD SEE THE CASE FOR CHRIST MOVIE THIS WEEKEND: 1. LEE’S STORY IS ICONIC AND UNFORGETTABLE There are just some stories in the Christian world that you can’t get out of your mind. Lee’s story is one of those. Several years ago, we spent time with Elizabeth Sherrill, who was the ghost writer of The Cross and the Switchblade for David Wilkerson, My Hiding Place for Corrie Ten Boom, God’s Smuggler for Brother Andrew, and others. It amazes me that she played such a role in telling stories that lived on in the Church. Read More here: http://kvibes.org/new-movie-alert-case-for-christ-4-reasons-why-you-should-see-it/

Disney’s upcoming “Beauty and the Beast” will include an “exclusively gay moment” on screen, a first for the company, according to the film’s director. Notable Christian leaders are urging Christian parents to boycott it. As the BBC reported Wednesday, actor Josh Gad, who portrays LeFou, the sidekick to the film’s villain Gaston, “breaks new ground when it comes to LGBT visibility” as his character on camera realizes that he has homosexual feelings. Without giving any further details, the movie’s director, Bill Condon, said Gad “makes something really subtle and delicious out of it.” “[I]t is a nice, exclusively gay moment in a Disney movie,” Condon said. This is not the first time Disney has featured same-sex content in their material geared toward children. Disney XD, for the first time in the company’s history, included several gay characters kissing in an episode of “Star vs. The Forces of Evil,” one of its most popular cartoons, this week. Evangelist and President of Samaritan’s Purse Franklin Graham stated on his Facebook page Thursday, “They’re trying to push the LGBT agenda into the hearts and minds of your children.” “Disney has the right to make their cartoons, it’s a free country,” he added. “But as Christians we also have the right not to support their company. I hope Christians everywhere will say no to Disney.” Read More here: http://kvibes.org/christian-leaders-urge-christians-to-boycott-disney-gay-movie-beauty-and-the-beast/

Christians should stop protesting U.S. President Donald Trump and instead shift their focus and get involved by exercising their right to vote, according to New York-based pastor and gospel singer Donnie McClurkin. In an appearance on the syndicated radio show "Get Up! Mornings With Erica Campbell," McClurkin urged Christians to know the true value of their vote and to not get caught up in the ongoing protests against Trump. The Perfecting Faith Church pastor said protests only stir people's emotions, The Christian Post relays. Advertisement "We need to know what our vote really means and how to utilize it. But I don't want us to get caught up in this protest," said Pastor McClurkin on the radio show. "The protests do nothing but rile [people] up. It causes people's anger to rise up and it gives us a false sense of involvement." read more here: http://kvibes.org/why-christians-should-stop-protesting-ag…/

he Islamic Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has switched from the lunar-based Islamic calendar, which starts with the emigration of Muhammad from Mecca to Medina, to the “Western” Gregorian calendar, named after Pope Gregory XIII and based on Jesus Christ’s birth. The decision, taken during a recent cabinet session chaired by King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz, is an austerity measure to deal with its budget deficit, according to reports, which say the drop in crude oil prices beginning 2014 has hit the world’s top oil exporter hard. The Muslim calendar, also known as Hijri, loses some 11 days a year so that Islamic holy days rotate around the seasons every 32 years, according to Gulf News, which also said the move will lead to civil servants losing 11 days of payment with salary days being cut. Earlier, only the private sector used the Gregorian calendar of its oil customers to calculate salaries. The measure, which involves many other cost cutting measures, came into effect in October.
