Should I write, or should I write not,
Numerous thoughts flowing through my "pot",
O, for the gallant soldiers our Nation has lost,
We cannot ignore, we must not keep shut.

Away they are, beneath the natural roof of the sky,
Regardless of the weather, they must give a try,
They question not orders, "what","where" and "why",
The flame of patriotism glow through their eyes.

They are the real superstars, not those on big screens,
Rejecting the fame, they dwell behind the scene,
Indeed many hard times have their eyes seen,
Most of their pain, they conceal within.

Their impact have been felt beyond the shores of Nigeria,
The likes of Somalia, Sudan et Liberia,
Deployed in our North East, the vast area of Sambisa,
Dedicated to their calling, they never say never.

The labour of our heroes past shall never be in vain,
This, our gallant men, strive daily to maintain,
Putting their country first, they tread on Service lane,
So when next you see a soldier, look not with disdain,
For from the least to the greatest, these men have all trained.

Dedicated to members of the Armed forces of Nigeria who:
have paid the ultimate price,
have paid their price,
are paying the price.
