senatordave1: The people of Otuoke, former President Goodluck Jonathan’s community in Ogbia Local Government Area have declared their support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, David Lyon. The acting paramount ruler, HRH Moses Otazi who made the resolution of the people known when the APC governorship campaign team led by Lyon campaigned in the community, said there is an upsurge of political revolution in Bayelsa and the people of Otuoke are not neutral. He said though most of the people are PDP, they have unanimously resolved to vote for the APC because of what he called widespread defiance of the PDP-led administration. Speaking at the palace, Lyon accused Governor Seriake Dickson of disrespecting traditional institution by abandoning the welfare of traditional rulers. Before leaving Otuoke, Lyon paid a visit to Jonathan’s mother, Mrs Madam Eunice Ayi Ebele Jonathan who gave her blessings to him and his running mate, Senator Biobarakuma Degi- Eremienyo. Speaking at the palace of HRH, Sopana Amakiri Agala(ADDI X111) Obenema of Anyama, Lyon lamented the deplorable state of communities in Ogbia Local Government Area. He assured the people that his government would end their sufferings in the hands of the PDP-led government, noting that Bayelsans have suffered from bad leadership and mismanagement of state resources too long . While sympathizing with the people of the community over the risk of extinction in the face of devastating erosion, he disclosed that his decision to run for the governorship seat was informed by the continued hardship the people have faced over the years. The monarch in his response traced the lineage of Lyon family from Olugbobiri community to Anyama clan and appealed to him to save the endangered communities from ravaging erosion when he becomes governor. https://www.google.com/url?q=https://www.sunnewsonline.com/why-jonathans-communityll-vote-for-apc-candidate-otuoke-monarch/&sa=U&ved

garfield1: The All Progressives Congress (APC) seemed to be coasting closer to victory in the forthcoming Bayelsa State governorship election as one of its chieftains and governorship aspirants charged his supporters to vote for the party. Former Minister of State of Agriculture, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, who spoke to journalists after a closed-door meeting with the National Chairman of the APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, in Abuja on Thursday, however said he is still in court with the party over the dispute generated from the governorship primary of the party. Senator Lokpobiri, who spoke with the party’s National Chairman, along with some state governors on the platform of the party, said he will not leave the APC for any reason, adding that having served as a minister on the platform of the party, nothing would make him jump ship. “The reason why I’m here is to pay a courtesy call on National Chairman having been spoken on the party which I have a great respect for and the president. I’m a very strong member of APC and I came today to formally tell our Chairman and to speak to Nigerians, in particular, the electorate in Bayelsa that all of them should vote for APC, regardless of what will happen in the matter that is fixed for judgment on Nov. 14, 2019. Read Also; Power will shift in Bayelsa, says Lyon “I told my supporters, even before I came for this visit, that no matter what happens, I will remain in APC, having served as minister under this administration. There is no way because of the outcome of the governorship primary that will make me to leave APC. “We are working and campaigning at different levels. I always advise that anybody that has grievances the only place to go and resolve those grievances is the court. So, whatever that is happening in the matter that is pending in the court is not an infraction on any part of our party’s constitution,” he said. Jigawa Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Badaru, said the APC had overwhelmed the entire Bayelsa State with its governorship campaign, saying that his party would win in Bayelsa State. “Well, you have witnessed the campaign going on both PDP and APC in Bayelsa. I believe by now judge by yourselves that APC is doing wonderfully well in Bayelsa. You are all witnesses to all the rallies that have been happening for both the two parties. I believe that success is ours,” he said.

garfield1: Court of Appeal sitting in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Wednesday dismissed the appeal filed by Hon. Kolapo Osunsanya of the All Progressives Congress (APC) challenging the September 9 verdict of the National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, in favour of Barrister Taiwo Shote of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
With today’s judgment of the appellate court, which is the final court in National Assembly election matters, Osunsanya ceases to be a member of the House of Representatives untill the partial rerun is held and a valid winner is returned.
In an appeal filed by Osunsanya, he challenged the verdict of the lower tribunal in favour of PDP’s Shote.
Delivering the judgment of the Court of Appeal today, the Chairman of the three-man panel and Presiding Judge of the court, Honourable Justice Jimi Bada, held that the lower court tribunal did not err in its judgment as claimed by Osunsanya in his appeal, saying the tribunal is justified to act in compliance with the Electoral Act 2010 as amended.
Furthermore, he said one can hardly fault the decision of the tribunal and declared that Osunsanya’s appeal challenging the judgment of the election petition is lacking in merit.
The court held that the reply of the appellant (Osunsanya) was vague in response to the issue of cancellation that was properly pleaded by the petitioner (Shote).
In all, the court dismissed Osunsanya’s appeal and affirmed the judgment of the tribunal.
Recall that the National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal had on 9th of September, 2019, declared that Osunsanya was not duly elected and nullified the Certificate of Return issued to him by INEC.
The tribunal also ordered that a rerun should be conducted within 90 days in Ward 5, Unit 5 in Ijebu Ode Local Government Area; Ward 10, Unit 3 in Odogbolu Local Government Area and the entire Ward 8 in Ijebu North East Local Government Area.
Shote and Osunsanya had contested the 23rd February, 2019 National Assembly election for Ijebu Central Federal Constituency which comprises of Ijebu Ode, Odogbolu and Ijebu North local government areas.
