Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Fraudulent Activities In Osun SUBEB Recruitment by kyoung: 11:20am On Apr 17, 2013

A lady told me she scored 183 for subeb but wasn't issued the appointment letter but I don't know if she failed the interview as no one knows the modality for the selection of the best applicants during the interview. However, the tescom interview is still ongoing and applicants are scored based on appearance, answers to questions asked among others. The interviewers claim they want the best,so I pray they use merit.God help us all."

Did she score 183 in the first exam that was improperly managed and cancelled or the second one conducted by JAMB? If it is true that she scored 183 and was not issued letter of appointment, please ask her to send her details to komotundeyoung@yahoo.com. The Governor of the State of Osun , Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola abhors cheating and lives by fairness. He usually overturns all and any oppressive decisions taken against the people and brought to his attention. That was why the first SUBEB exam was cancelled and JAMB recruited to conduct the second one. It is same reason the first Civil Service exam was cancelled. While many people have not reconciled themselves to the fact that merit rules in current Osun, Mr Governor believes in and promotes merit. Please let us however avoid rumours that cannot be substantiated so we do not discourage those working hard to correct the ills of the country. Dont let us be tools in the hands of unscrupulous politicians whose stock in trade are lies.

On TESCOM, while I do not have enough info about their operations, I think the initial tests were on general aptitude and knowledge. The interviews have to be based on core subjects to ensure a chemistry teacher understands enough of the concepts to teach chemistry. same with history teacher. If this is rated higher than aptitude, I think it is fair since the job to do is on the core subject.

Education / Re: 2009 May/June WAEC SSCE Result Released! by kyoung: 6:42pm On Sep 23, 2009
Passing WAEC is not as difficult as we make it seem. Fortunately it is not an exam that is competitive with cut offs like ICAN and co. Apart from the general decay in our educational system, a lot also have to be done by individual students in terms of preparation and practice. If you take an average top grade school, you find a high percentage of the students passing withot cheating. They are not necessarily more brilliant than others in regular government schools but have been exposed to mostly better education. Even here some students fail. I think every student needs to be able to profile him/herself and know how much preparation he/she needs to do to bridge the gap between level of knowledge and examiners' requirements. Because of individual differences, a Sola may need to read 3 times the same thing a Victor has to read 8 times for same level of understanding. I suggest that students should try and use interactive educational materials typically on computers ( Ive seen one called e-tutor in use, there should be others) that provide for makingĀ  students appraise themselves independently and also provide tuitions and sample examiners' reports. Also while some students do well by reading, others must hear (audio, listen) while others must have to practise or watch someone do so. Every student needs to find help in knowing his/her requirements
