hmmmm , Mr Sienna ,

X5 or ML and you pick the X5 ?
Please enlighten me huh
i'd rather prefer the Q5 to the Q7 ,
Q7 is rather expensive and fuel guzzler !
I guess the X5 from 2008 makes more sense and has more appeal but the AMG version of the MB ,though not understood nor appreciated in Naija, gives MB a different perspective.
Still would appreciate your enlightenment ,
Car TalkRe: 2010 Volkswagen Touareg Vs 2010 BMW X5. by labamba(m): 6:25pm On Apr 19, 2011
Hello Mr Sienna ,

Still awaiting your mail.
meanwhile, i'm a MB freak.
You have preference for Audi and BMW.
Of a truth , they have some products that supercede the M(Q7 is too big and less off-road).
Beema would only have me look at the X5 and M3 coupe.
The X6 is a large sports car , the X3 is a small ,large sports car ,
the Q7 like i said is more on-road than off-road. extremely too large.
Compare with MB CLS and the C class ,
compare also the G wagon which to me is the sweetest off-road /on-road car presently.
Touareg , X5 all can be compared with the ML and trully , if u want to really feel the MB ML , go for the AMG version

@Maddock, do you really think MTN will allow decisions in Ghana to jeopardise its bread and butter market in West Africa, which is Nigeria? Do you think this is about jumping on a petty rivalry between Nigeria and Ghana, come on now.

Look, MTN will not allow anything to affect their pocket, as evidenced in this decision. The point still stands, we have bigger fish to fry. I really dont believe those making decisions in Ghana will do so deliberately against Nigeria, I just dont believe thats how they intend to go about business.
MTN will only do what will improve their margins

if movin an admin head to Ghana will affect sales in Nigera, i bet they will come back to Nigeria. and besides, what decisions will they make in Accra that will be at cross purposes with the global strategy MTN has

MTN is in biz to make money and i dont think moving a regional head to Accra will cause pains for us.

Nicely put.
One thing i noticed is that many have not taken time to digest the actual meaning of the action carried out .
We've only been running around the topic.
Let me categorically let you know that the West African HQ was never in place anywhere in West Africa before.
Its just an office comprising of a set of Executives who oversee transactions taking place in several regions.
It was never in Nigeria and has no direct impact or decision on what transpires within MTN nigeria.
Their's West africa regional Exec, South africa regional Exec , Central Africa regional Exec and Middle East regional Exec.
All have before now maintained offices in SA but a decision was made to place them strategically in the regions.
They more or less oversee regional transactions and also hold meetings with Each Country under its Umbrella.
MTN Ghana happens to be under the WECA and while we keep fighting and bickering , the fact remains that Ghana as at this moment hold a more stable economy , policy and government as well as cheap means of survival. Ask STANBIC, STANDARD CHARTERED, ECOBANK,CISCO, MICROSOFT,NCR,OVATION etc.
Yes, Nigeria has all the potentials but like talent, if not properly harnessed turns to terror, hence ,the decision to keep the office in Ghana.
Would it suffice you to know that only MTN Nigeria has had the priviledge of having a member of the GROUP BOARD as the CEO before.
MTN Nigeria has the largest staff strength and i mean Nigerians. Nigerians also have the largest group of expatriate in all the other countries.
The issue remains putting our house in order.
I was reading about the the upgrading of one of our facilities for the u-17 world cup that took place last year and i wept.
Imagine paying more than 7billion naira for an upgrade(refurbished) of while SA are paying less than 4billion for a new one for the WORLD CUP and the funnier side is that we are yet to get the upgrade even after the tournament.
We need to really stop ,sit down and put our house in order. We must either get it or die trying.

Sometimes i wonder wat Nigerians use in thinking but am sure nt their heads. Nigerians sure have misplaced priorities. So you nw blame MTN, a foreigner country 4 deciding whr 2 locate its headquarter. Let me bring 2 your notice dat even our president does nt find Nigeria good enough. if he did, he wldnt av gone 2 anoda country 4 medical treatment. so why blame mtn. our leaders children do nt attend our substandard schools, they import their guds 4rm abroad etc. so why blame mtn. don't worry our beloveth glo wld soon pack 2 Benin because Nigeria is nt gud enuf.

Nigeria is reaping what it has sown. I know many people doing business in Nigeria, including myself and the stories of some of the hassles we endure are amazing.

It is not only the issue of irractic power supply or bad roads, lack of good hospitals and other infrastructure challenges but a general attitude in Nigeria towards business especially foreign business. There is a sense that if you want to do business in Nigeria "you are lucky we allow you to operate here" who must pay homage to so many different people and play by different rules than the rest of the world. When a decision is made that is in best interest of the business like relocating the headquarters to Ghana there is an emotional outburst that they should pack up and leave, and we don't need them anyway. There is a general jealousy and zenophobia in Nigeria towards foreigners. In many cases there is a sense of glee if a Nigerian can "dup" a foreigner or take advantage of them. Many employees have short term thinking about what can i get for myself today instead of how can I help the company grow, and start working against the best interest of the business.

There are all kinds of challenges like Government officials who force companies to pay bribes for everything, tax collectors and local government boys who make life miserable for businesses to operate with uneven policies and collect tax not based on anything concrete. Policies and procedures are kept in the dark so that the officials have power over you and when you "mess up" you must pay them to get out of the situation. Once the business achieves some kind of success all sort of new rules and requirements are tacked onto the business regardless of how it will affect the companies bottom line.

Would you want to locate your headquarters in that kind of environment? We all want Nigeria to succeed and thrive. I love Nigeria but the things mentioned above are the types of things that drive business away from Nigeria, including Nigerian businesses. I think we will continue to see businesses relocating to Ghana until this attitude and operating environment is changed.

Strategically, setting the cost of doing business aside, MTN is up to something. Ghana economy is doing well at the moment, oil money is going to start flowing to the economy 3rd quarter 2010. The economic and political reform Ghanian's past administration put in place have, of course, positioned the country to even do better in the future. Unfortunately, Nigeria's leaderships are too myopic to see this, let alone think strategically, they've been so burried with petty politics rather than doing what is right for the counry.

If we didn't get our house in other, here is what is going to happen: more companies and industries will shift their base to Ghana and send their goods to Nigeria under ECOWAS agreement. How is that going to work? Look no further than the trade agreement that exist between ECOWAS countries. Companies that moves to Ghana will be able to capitalize on this agreement, and send their manufactred goods from Ghana to Nigeria tariff free. Keep in mind that the transportational cost that could make the goods expensive will be lowered once the rail line and roads between Nigeria and Ghana are completed.

Also, the security situation in Ghana makes it more condusive for business. By the time you add all these variables together, couple with higher operational cost of doing business in Nigeria, Ghana looks more attractive.

Nigeria can solve this probllem if we can get our act together.

Beautiful extracts.

I have not stopped laughing as the ngierian mentallity is being displayed here.
Kudos and special exceptions to spike88, Naijacutee, Ayusman and the guys/gals i picked these extracts from.

What actually do we want , should be the first question on our minds. MTN relocates so you drop your SIM so what ?
What would you do if you were a member of a board of a company and you had to pick between settling down your regional HQ in Angola and SA.
of course you would pick SA. Why ??
Its a civil and sane state.
Conducive atmosphere for growth and development
Infrastructures are either in place or being put in place.
The citizens respect themselves and human lives after the turmoil of apartheid.
Not saying Angola wouldn't have shown promises in the past.
As a matter of fact , they housed SAfricans during their trying times but instead of building on this, they've gone down and the lives of their citizens no longer matter.
Lets come back home,
Which business venture can you point out in Nigeria that has stood for 100 years huh ok, lets try 70 years huh Ok 50 yearshuh
What respect do we have for ourselves or fellow citizens?
What path are we treading that shows we are on the right path?
Sincerely, if you had the means to send your school to Univ. of Ife and Unive. of Accra, Legon which would you pick huh
Lets not dwell too much on the ills and failings of this nation (no longer great).
The title belongs to Ghana right now.
Check out most of the Big business empires have their offices there now.
By the way , the President of the world, did he branch to see a DOA (Dead of alive)PRESIDENT.
We are not failures but we have failed and keep failing until we analyse ourselves, retrace our steps, tell ourselves the truth (nothing is well with us)and seek for righteousness, truth, justice and REVOLUTION.
Yes, Ghana did not hae these companies 20years ago. It was all Nigeria.
Now, everything is against us and yet we don't tell ourselves the truth.
My fear is that "he who the gods will destroy, they first of all make mad" and we are getting close.
This generation can not be wiped out due to the failings of our leaders.
Enough of blames to MTN, who gave them rights and priviledges, who gave SHELL rights and land, who gave other foreign coys their rights in the countryhuh We gave them not only our rights but our birthrights and we now blame them?
No , lets address everything!!!!
Security( where nigerian engrs are being killed ,kidnapped on duty)
Roads & infrastructures( no roads, light, transport poor, no housing arrangement)
Natural resource (our own diesel is now a curse to us) and so much more.
I have been priviledged to work the two main telcos and i can tell you , its not been pretty.
For your info, Glo's main Submarine cable actually has its primary termination in Ghana.
The amount of duty for every equipment bought and brought in by MTN differs to Glo.
Security matters as well as vandalism is no exception and ask telco engrs around, the best hands you can get in the business are the naija guys in MTN and they all want to leave Nigeria for a more conducive place.
Dear friends/colleagues , their's a sign that is hanging on Nigeria and it bodes not well.
My earnest prayer and wish is that Nigeria, the sleeping Eagle shall rise again

Valderiee, valderaaa
Valderiee, valderaaaaaaaaaaa
Valderiee, valderaaa

'oh my daizy daizy just behind the door
oh my daizy daizy just behind the door
oh my daizy daizy just behind the door

'We are marching marching marching

My school had two anthems then ,
'L.D.N.P.S means Lara day nursery primary school
it was founded in 1963 by rev akin adesola
Adesola , glory to thy name
Thy works shall stand for age so
everybody sing high everybody sing low
and raise your hand for the school.
Hip hip hip hurrah , we are boys and girls of Lara school
we are proud of our name and proud of ourselves as we go marching on.
