What goes into you mind looking at this pic? Are we as black people so silly that we don't even follow any sense of reasoning. Is it an IQ problem or are we really a less developed human specie incapable of following any form of common sense. How does the NDDC want the outside world to look at Nigerian which could be generally extrapolated to serve as a sample space for the entire black race. Why is it that we cannot do anything hitch free. Can we stand up and name any single achievement we have done on our own without a white man helping us. Is it elections, education sector, health sector, boko haram. I wonder why a government agency will sent its citizens abroad and refuse to honor the agreement of the scholarship. How do they want the citizens to survive?

When David Cameron was exposed saying Nigeria was 'fantastically corrupt' and the ensuing outcry from Nigerians, I wasn't outraged. Of course, I dare say he was correct. What else do you call this? My supervisors must have a very unflattering view of naija because of nddc (they know nddc for their delays from past students, but this has taken the cake). They won't get away with this.

2018 is a very significant yr in this country if u understand what i mean. Note, the present board is not in the good books of some prominent pressure groups of our region so they must have sense and handle sensitive issues with fairness. The present outcry is jst a child's play on how loud the wailing will be. We are only being reasonable cos of our owed friends. Except they will never get paid (which is not likely to happen) then they should brace up. Do they love Niger Delta better than we do?

NDDC has to be held accountable for screwing people over like this. I am a current scholar and even I am appalled on hearing this info and I hope to God it is not the case. We are still waiting to be paid but for God's sake, this is so unfair. Why waste money on cbts' and oral interviews just to cancel it afterwards?? These guys get away with murder because we cannot effectively take legal action in naija (and I will if we don't get paid, this nonsense has to stop).

No she did not. I don't know if you ever encountered a Mr. Godson during your interview. He is the one to ask for the list (unfortunately Mr Godson ceased responding to my emails when I kept enquiring on our payments - either that or he is no longer involved in the scholarship process).

More like CBN incompetence due to the increased responsibility of managing the TSA.

This is because the first time I was payed TSA wasn’t in full force so it was NDDC that showed up in my account.
However on the second occasion, after TSA was fully implemented instead of “NDDC”, CBN showed up.

I don’t know anything about how PTDF and other government scholarship has been managed prior to TSA, but if it’s similar to NDDC then it means CBN has very little experience in dealing with payment of school fees to foreign institutions.

All this payment has been confirmed has no meaning.
CBN are the people sending the money. (That’s how I was paid the last time, with CBN showing in my bank statement because of all the TSA stuff). If CBN pays you will see the money the same day or the next day. So no payment has been made.

Secondly whenever this payment comes, please check your account to record the date and time and the CBN title that shows. Something like “F/FLOW CBN SUNDRY”.
This is because they might not have quoted your initials, student number or any identification whatsoever when paying your school. My school only agreed the last fee payment was for me when I gave them details about the date, time and title. I made the assumption that both transactions (to my account and to the school’s account) were initiated simultaneously.

Not to take anything away from what you are saying cos we are in different schools, but the first and only payment I received was done simultaneously. My school's account received my tuition at the same time I got my living expenses. But your advice (following NDDC's incompetence) is duly noted.

For the most part, we have been assured payments have been authorised.

Most likely. The nddc personnel I spoke to said payments have been authorised. I have got varying responses as to when it will actually reflect in our respective accounts.

I wondered about that too. I now owe two years / session tuition; otherwise the delay saga for the next and possibly last payment will continue next year

NDDC is a joke. Now I have inquired about the status of payments, the officials are singing a new tale. The sound bite is now 'we are waiting for management to release funds.' So all the waiting and expectations were for nothing. It is disheartening why NDDC has chosen to treat us this way. I have been bombarding all involved on twitter and will erode their timelines until they do something. This is just pure evil and they won't get away with it.

I lay claim to no source, and I claim no connection to any top man, but if this week runs out and scholars are not paid, then something is fundamentally wrong with NDDC and the scholarship process. For those NDDC agents who are on this platform to test the waters for their masters, by flying the kite of cancellation of the 2017 scholarship process, pls tell your masters that there is a legal process called mandamus,which some of us will not hesitate to take. You can not cancel a process which has been completed, to go and start a fresh process. How do you then justify the millions spent to conduct that process. They should equally know that there exists a contractual relationship between NDDC and the applicants which is enforceable in law.

I too am awaiting payment this week as has been rumoured. With respect to cancellation, I doubt that info is correct - it seems ridiculous to go through the rigours of another selection process (which is not cost effective on both sides) as you have rightly pointed out. I have other sources that have said contrary to what was asserted on this forum, 2017 selection process has not been cancelled (suspended yes).

To be honest with you I didn't see a need in asking what exact time the pending funds will be remitted, not because I wasn't concerned but I just figured out that it is of not so much an urgency not from the previous set point of view, but from a current set already in waiting.Think about it this way, if it has already been cancelled what's the point of asking the exact time of when previous set will be paid .They have already said the previous set will be paid and ours will have to undergo a fresh application.And I am sure they would have completed the settling of accrued debt before embarking on fresh applications. I understand your viewpoint with respect to 2017 set, sethmelia, but these guys need to pay us asap. It is beyond urgent for me (and fellow scholars) as for instance any expense claim I am entitled to as a PhD student (we attend and present in conferences outside school and overseas sometimes), my school always withhold my claims' and pay it towards my debts. Nddc has given themselves a bad name here in the UK and if they do not clean house asap, home office will not accept scholarship letters as proof of funds anymore. So in that sense, it affects the new intakes even more.

As I said earlier, they always beat around the bush anytime I inquire about our funds, but roughly 3 weeks ago was the only time they actually responded with a different message (we are processing your payments) - fingers crossed. Naija will never cease to disgrace us. If I could take legal action, I swear I will. This wickedness has to stop.

Thank you for your persistence. With NDDC, nothing is guaranteed. It does seem the payment hasn't left their office. Wire transfer is only about 2 days.

Every international embassy is fast listing NDDC as unserious organisation and are even including other innocent organizations from Nigeria!

The delay is concerning after some assurance. We would have to, one more time, speak out and voice our concern in social media before NDDC stalls the process thinking they are out of focus.

At this point I don't know what to believe anymore. Mrs Seledi (scholarship coordinator) has always been very cautious in responding to my previous queries on payments - you know, with the same sound bites 'awaiting approval.' However, this time she sounds a bit more assured, hence my hope; but gosh, we've been April-fooled before so I am not surprised it's gone back to the waiting game at this point. I did hear, but I honestly cannot verify the source so please don't take my word for it - that payments should reflect by month end (this month end). Let's see what happens but I'm on the MD's case. He can't flaunt around as if they are making progress and get away with it. Transparency my foot (you need to see how he pats himself on their 'so-called' achievements on the website, it's appalling).

Payments for students fees can be done in just a day if the criminals who run the NDDC board want to do it. I was very sure the day I said the next week these payments were coming through, however with the current board you can not be sure. It looks like they have someone who blocks the true story of this saga to get to the President, the Vice President has intervened but yet these criminals for some reasons are bent on not making payments
The process of payment have been finished but for some reasons the EDFA and the MD are holding it back.

But why in God's name would they do this to us? This is truly embarrassing to the commission. My school is already hinting that they may not accept new nddc scholars anymore as this issue of delays and in some cases non payments has gone on for too long. It is truly unfortunate.

Hi, I'm a 2015 (PhD) scholar. The payments I'm referring to is for past or perhaps I should say current scholars only. I'm afraid I am unable to give info on the status of 2017 prospectives', but I guess as soon as outstanding payments have been sorted for us then hopefully they will focus on 2017 scholars or the list will be released.

I have emailed again to ask about the timeline of payment not expecting any response anyway. However, I did get a response and all I was told that a specific date or timeline cannot be given as payments are handled by the commission and CBN. So it sort of depends on CBN processing. Fingers crossed. I will inform the house if I have received payments.
