EducationRe: A Must Read!! Medicine Vs Veterinary Medicine by ladyvet: 8:28am On May 22, 2016
You applied or they offered you?....if they offered you then you must be lucky but the real issue is this: will you be able to cope with veterinary medicine? Ask your self because it is a very difficult course. I am talking from experience. My friend who was a brilliant student in human medicine but decided to study vet because his father who's a vet is a millionaire...he saidvthat all the vets Drs he knew are all doing great...but he suffered even lost 2 years in vet but thank God he currently is a vet today...therefore if you can cope..I don't need to advise you...vet is not a place for truancy...
PetsZOBA Veterinary Hospital: Expert Clinicians On Parvo Viral Enteritis by ladyvet(op): 10:59pm On Apr 01, 2016
Still on the parvo viral cases... I posted my experience concerning a parvo dog few months ago..hoping that others I met in zoba vet clinic will survive..hmmm indeed they survived. I met with one of the senior doctors( female) whom I discussed with on this monster called parvo, she said that dogs that had been vaccinated against parvo either with one or only two shots tend to survive more that those with no history of vaccination...for the past one month, I am being updated on viral cases in the clinic and they had handled 12 cases with 9 survival..two died because they were already muribund before they were brought to the clinic..I felt bad..the owner admitted that he would have vaccinated before planning on their sale..(they were boerboe and 10weeks old)..another one died of mixed infection, combination of parvo..hepatitis...distemper.no history of vaccinations..they tried to save the puppy(17weeks rotwiler)..but they are not magicians..there are other good vet clinics in Lagos like Victoria island, surulere...to mention but a few...its heartbreaking to loose ones pet...please vaccinate your pet before selling them...if you buy or got one please request for the vaccination history...some breeders play smart by" not saying the truth" if not sure please take ur pet to the vet clinic and ASK for a VET.. Not an animal handler...get your dog vaccinated...monitor your dog..report any strange sign...you can Google to find out the nearest vet clinic/hospital close to you...vets are their for your pets..do not loose hope if you notice vomiting and diarrhoea..first doctors will do a test to confirm...your pet may be lucky..I am also veterinary doctor, if you need an advice concerning your pet..I will be glad to offer you my little helping advice but remember I do not know it all..no one does..but I will try to help..thank you all..if we don't help your pet,who will?
PetsParvo-survivor At ZOBA Vet Am So Happy by ladyvet(op): 10:57pm On Feb 16, 2016
I am a veterinary doctor, i worked inside Zoba vet clinic at dolphin estate ikoyi last week, i saw a boerboe puppy lying helplessly though beautiful but the stench from its anal region, its vomitus and watery brownish foul smelling diarrhoea already pointed its finger to the monster killer called parvo viral enteritis, a viral disease affecting dogs with 50-50 chances of survival. looking at the puppy...struggling to live but helpless made me feel bad, the owner crying yet believing that her dog will survive, the doctors were on their feet in the treatment room dripping the dog with series of intravenous fluid recommended for symptomatic therapy. i watched in earnest desire, i must say that i was satisfied with their procedures..but parvo is parvo. i comforted the owner then i left for my station. 5 days later i visited the clinic, surprisingly the puppy was alive, still being dripped because it was anorexic, but no more fluid loss, the fluid therapy served as food to the puppy..woow i left so happy...i was told the dog would be discharged in two days time...i went back there after two days because i wanted to see the owner...the joy i felt with her..the laughter..the joyful tears dripping down her chick..i must say..i felt that like no other. i saw other parvo cases brought to their clinic, i pray they survive too. i love vets, am a vet too, its not easy to handle parvo cases but we cant just let our dogs die, if we dont help them who will .Please my dear people, try to be upto date with your dogs vaccination schedule. help us and we will try our best
