The Lagos State Governorship Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Jimi Agbaje, has said no one would force him to quit the party. He attributed insinuations that he had dumped PDP to mischief-makers determined to soil his reputation, provoke crisis within the party and dampen the spirit of party members and his supporters. The families of the 157 Ethiopian Airlines plane disaster were at the weekend given bags of scorched earth from the crash site in place of bodies for burial. The measure was taken because the forensic identification of bodies will last six months. It was also confirmed that none of the bodies were intact as they were all charred and fragmented. Two grieving families spoke about the situation. An Ethiopian government official also confirmed the soil deliveries. President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday told Nigerians to see the peaceful conduct of the presidential election as a victory for the nation. The Governorship Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, has made allegations of ongoing manipulation of the results of last Saturday’s elections and called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to immediately release them. Agbaje, who addressed a Press Conference in his campaign office on Ikorodu Road, Lagos, wondered why 48 hours after polls ended, the commission still failed to release all results. He said: “As I speak today, we have a situation where results are being delayed. It is two days now and results are not being released in Lagos State. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the cancellation and rescheduling of the elections in some parts of Anambra, Rivers and Lagos States following the violent disruption of voting in the areas. INEC Commissioner and chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye, announced the development. “The commission has received reports of violence and ballot box snatching in some areas leading to the disruption of the process. We have asked the Resident Electoral Commissioners RECs and the Electoral Officials on ground to submit their firsthand reports in relation to some of these incidents. Justice Laniran Akintola of the Oyo State High Court 9 in Ibadan, the state capital has fixed March 22 for report of settlement in a suit filed by parents of some female Muslim students of University of Ibadan International School Ibadan (ISI) over denial on use of Hijab. It could be recalled that some parents of some Muslim students of ISI sued the school authority on behalf of their wards for allowing them to wear hijab on their school uniform, thus, violating the fundamental human right of their wards. The Muslim parents who filed the suit on behalf of their children are Taofeek Yekinni, Idris Badiru, Sikiru Babarinde, Muideen Akerele, Abdurrahman Balogun and nine others. Nigeria’s Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has debunked the rumour of his alleged resignation as the Vice President of the country. Osinbajo made this known in tweet on Twitter handle,@ProfOsinbajo. He described the rumour as fake news. There was a little confusion at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Dugbe , Ibadan , the Oyo State capital , during the sorting of election materials by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) while the Form EC 8 B meant for Kano State was found in the election material deliveries meant for Oyo . The form, which is one of the sensitive election materials, is the result sheet for a particular ward within a state. While moving round the CBN premises in the evening, around 5:30 pm to monitor the sorting of the materials, a group of INEC officials, including ad hoc staff, suddenly raised an alarm. “Eh! The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu, while briefing newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday stated that the deployment of materials to all states across the country and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) had been completed. “They (the card readers) are configured to specific polling units and only open for use at 8:00AM on the Election Day; they will automatically shut down by 10:00PM in order to forestall any illegal use of the card readers before the appointed time for elections,” he said. “Yesterday (Tuesday), I reported 95 per cent completion of the configuration.
