The Lagos State Governorship Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Jimi Agbaje, has said no one would force him to quit the party.

He attributed insinuations that he had dumped PDP to mischief-makers determined to soil his reputation, provoke crisis within the party and dampen the spirit of party members and his supporters.

In a statement by his Director of Media and Publicity, Felix Oboagwina, Agbaje denied jumping ship, saying, PDP remained his party.

The families of the 157 Ethiopian Airlines plane disaster were at the weekend given bags of scorched earth from the crash site in place of bodies for burial.

The measure was taken because the forensic identification of bodies will last six months.

It was also confirmed that none of the bodies were intact as they were all charred and fragmented.

Two grieving families spoke about the situation. An Ethiopian government official also confirmed the soil deliveries.

No fewer that forty-nine (49) people have been shot dead and 20 injured in shootings at two mosques in the New Zealand city of Christchurch during Friday afternoon prayers.

The Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern, called it a terrorist attack and said it was “one of New Zealand’s darkest days”.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday at the announcement of the result of the Nigeria AIDS Indicator and Impact Survey (NAIIS) at the old Banquet Hall of the State House, Abuja said the end of the spread of Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) is in sight in Nigeria.

Agbaje Visits Bariga, As Oba Laments Electoral Rigging

The Governorship Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, took his campaigns to Bariga, whose paramount ruler bemoaned the politician’s past failed attempts and described him as a victim of serial electoral manipulations.

Lagos Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s Former Commissioner of Energy, Mr. Wale Oluwo, has assured the people of Epe that the Governorship Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Jimi Agbaje, would continue the developmental strides begun by his former boss in the town.

Oluwo also assured the gathering that the scandalous land acquisitions in the Epe and Lekki-Ajah axis would be reviewed in the people’s favour should PDP win the Lagos governorship.

The Supreme Court has fixed May 17 for judgment of Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Walter Onnoghen in a suit filed by Cross River State Government seeking to set aside his suspension as Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN).

President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday told Nigerians to see the peaceful conduct of the presidential election as a victory for the nation.

Noting that an election should not be seen as a war, the President said the “victory is enough cause for joy without deriding those in the opposition now that election is over.”

The President’s message was contained in his remarks at the International Conference Centre (ICC) in Abuja, after receiving the Certificate of Return as the president-elect from the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof Mahmood Yakubu.

Buhari’s deputy and running mate Prof Yemi Osinbajo also got the Certificate of Return as vice president-elect.

The Governorship Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, has made allegations of ongoing manipulation of the results of last Saturday’s elections and called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to immediately release them.

Agbaje, who addressed a Press Conference in his campaign office on Ikorodu Road, Lagos, wondered why 48 hours after polls ended, the commission still failed to release all results.

He said: “As I speak today, we have a situation where results are being delayed. It is two days now and results are not being released in Lagos State. And they are not being released in areas where we, PDP, have strength. And that is deliberate. We have a situation where results are being tampered with. That is not going to be acceptable to us. We will not accept results that have been tampered with in Lagos State.”

Akpabio who is the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ikot Ekpene Senatorial district, secured 67, 487 as against 136, 373 votes for Chris Ekpenyong of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP).

As early as 06:00 am on Saturday, 23 February 2019, eligible voters in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and other parts of Nigeria trooped out in thousands to exercise their civic right.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the cancellation and rescheduling of the elections in some parts of Anambra, Rivers and Lagos States following the violent disruption of voting in the areas.

INEC Commissioner and chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye, announced the development.

“The commission has received reports of violence and ballot box snatching in some areas leading to the disruption of the process. We have asked the Resident Electoral Commissioners RECs and the Electoral Officials on ground to submit their firsthand reports in relation to some of these incidents. We are still receiving reports relating to incidences in some states of the federation but we have received reports relating to incidences in Akuku Toru and Bonny local government areas of Rivers state.

President Muhammadu Buhari has described the allegation of that his administration is planning to Islamized Nigeria as wicked, deceptive and ungodly.

The President made this known in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina on Friday.


According to the statement: “It has come to the notice of President Muhammadu Buhari, ahead of the forthcoming elections, that some unscrupulous Nigerians are again falsely and wickedly claiming that the administration has an agenda to impose Islam on Nigeria”.

Justice Laniran Akintola of the Oyo State High Court 9 in Ibadan, the state capital has fixed March 22 for report of settlement in a suit filed by parents of some female Muslim students of University of Ibadan International School Ibadan (ISI) over denial on use of Hijab.

It could be recalled that some parents of some Muslim students of ISI sued the school authority on behalf of their wards for allowing them to wear hijab on their school uniform, thus, violating the fundamental human right of their wards.

The Muslim parents who filed the suit on behalf of their children are Taofeek Yekinni, Idris Badiru, Sikiru Babarinde, Muideen Akerele, Abdurrahman Balogun and nine others.

Nigeria’s Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has debunked the rumour of his alleged resignation as the Vice President of the country.

Osinbajo made this known in tweet on Twitter handle,@ProfOsinbajo. He described the rumour as fake news.

Professor Osinbajo said, “Misleading/FAKE news is on the rise especially in this season when Nigerians will make a choice about who will govern them for the next four years. I have not resigned! I remain committed to the service of the Nigerian people under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari.”

There was a little confusion at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Dugbe , Ibadan , the Oyo State capital , during the sorting of election materials by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) while the Form EC 8 B meant for Kano State was found in the election material deliveries meant for Oyo .

The form, which is one of the sensitive election materials, is the result sheet for a particular ward within a state.

While moving round the CBN premises in the evening, around 5:30 pm to monitor the sorting of the materials, a group of INEC officials, including ad hoc staff, suddenly raised an alarm.

“Eh! For Kano… Noted,” they exclaimed, as a woman raised up the form.

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu, while briefing newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday stated that the deployment of materials to all states across the country and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) had been completed.

“They (the card readers) are configured to specific polling units and only open for use at 8:00AM on the Election Day; they will automatically shut down by 10:00PM in order to forestall any illegal use of the card readers before the appointed time for elections,” he said.

“Yesterday (Tuesday), I reported 95 per cent completion of the configuration. I am pleased to report that we have now achieved 100 per cent completion of the configuration. We are good to go on this call”.

Former Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Musa Rabiu Kwakwanso, on Tuesday joined the Lagos State Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, Mr, Jimi Agbaje, in a visit to the Serikin Hausawa of Agege, Lagos.

A tumultous crowd thronged the venue to serenade the Kwankwanso, the apostle of Kwankwansiya, who came with the PDP flagbearer and his Running Mate, Mrs. Oluwayemisi Haleemat Busari.

His Royal Highness, Alhaji Musa Dogonkadai, prayed for the duo as well as the PDP Presidential Candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

The former Kano Governor urged the Hausa community to support the PDP ticket down the line from the Lagos State House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate, Governorship and the Presidency.
