As early as 06:00 am on Saturday, 23 February 2019, eligible voters in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and other parts of Nigeria trooped out in thousands to exercise their civic right.

Despite reports of irregularities at some polling units in some parts of the country, the election kicked off across Nigeria smoothly with massive turnout of voters amid tight security as election materials and officials also arrived early in polling units visited by Lagos Post Online, while accreditation and voting commenced as scheduled.

Meanwhile, the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria’s main opposition party, Atiku Abubakar, has defeated President Muhammadu Buhari at one of the polling units inside Aso Rock, Nigeria’s presidential villa located in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
