PDP BoT Moves To Reconcile Wike And Atiku

The Board of Trustees, BoT, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has stated its intention to wade into the face-off between the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike and the Presidential candidate of the Party for the 2023 elections, Atiku Abubakar.


This was as the Governor stated terms for him to reconcile with the party's presidential candidate for the 2023 elections.

The chairman of the BoT, Senator Walid Jibrin, who revealed this in a statement, said the members will meet in Abuja on Wednesday to address the disagreement between Wike and Abubakar over the emergence of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State as the vice-presidential candidate of the party.

JUST IN: Timothy Adegoke Laid To Rest


The remains of the body of a masters degree student of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Ile Ife, Timothy Adegoke, has been laid to rest.

Timothy was murdered in his hotel room at the Hilton Hotels and Resorts in Ile-ife, Osun State last year.


It will be recalled that late Timothy Adegoke Oludare, a Chartered Accountant from Eruwa, Oyo State, was declared missing penultimate week since he checked in at the hotel owned by Prince Adedoyin on Friday, November 5 preceding his examinations scheduled for Saturday, November 6 and Sunday, November 7.

I Believe In Unity Of Nigeria, Says Olowu Kuta


Contrary to the call by some section of Yoruba people for succession from Nigeria, the Olowu of Owu Kuta, Oba Adekunle Oyelude Makama, Tegbosun III, in a chat with the members of the Society for Digital Newspaper Owners of Nigeria (SDNON) on Thursday said that the country is better together.

COVID-19: 203 New Cases, 28 Deaths Reported In Nigeria

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Monday May 31, 2021 announced two hundred and three (203) confirmed new cases of coronavirus also known as COVID-19 in the country.

The virus also claimed twenty-eight (28) lives.

BREAKING: Lagos Discharges 37 More Coronavirus Patients

The Lagos State Government on Wednesday announced that it has discharged 37 more coronavirus also known as COVID-19 patients from its isolation centres, bringing to 358 the total number of successfully treated persons in the state.

The Incident Commander on COVID-19 in Lagos State, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, said the patients have been discharged from our isolation facilities at Yaba, Onikan and Eti-Osa (LandMark) to reunite with the society. The discharged patients are 19 females and 18 males including 1 Indian.

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Monday directed the management of Lagos Bus Services Limited to deploy a fleet of 65 buses along major routes from Monday, February 3, 2020, to provide succour and ameliorate the hardship commuters might face as a result of the restriction order on the operators of motorcycles and tricycles in some parts of the State.

Senator Abaribe’s Call On President Buhari To Resign Is Foolish –Presidency
The Spokesperson of the President, Garba Shehu, in a series of tweets on the popular micro-blogging site, Twitter described the call made by the Minority leader of the Nigerian Senate, Eyinnanya Abaribe asking President Muhammadu Buhari to resign over the worsening security in the country as “foolish.”
Senator Abaribe had, during a plenary debate in the Senate yesterday over the insecurity in the country, said the President had failed to secure the country calling him to resign.
But in its reaction, the Presidency, through its spokesperson, said the call by the Senator Abaribe is foolish and does not represent the view of the country.

ABIDJAN, Ivory Coast, The African Development Bank’s flagship initiative, Fashionomics Africa, has launched the pilot phase of a digital marketplace to help Africa’s fashion designers, textile and accessories professionals connect with global markets.
The launch took place on 25 November at the Global Gender Summit, a gathering of more than 1,500 representatives from multilateral development banks, finance institutions, governments and private sector leaders in Kigali, Rwanda.

The Fashionomics Africa digital marketplace website and mobile app, sponsored by the Fund for African Private Sector Assistance, is the latest innovation from Fashionomics Africa, a platform enabling African entrepreneurs from the textile, apparel and accessories industries to create and grow their businesses, with a focus on opportunities for women and young people.

“It is the first-ever B2B [Business-to-Business] and B2C [Business-to-Consumer] platform that has ever been created for, micro, small and medium-sized enterprises that are working along this value chain,” Dr. Jennifer Blanke, the Bank’s Vice-President for Agriculture, Human and Social Development, said at the launch.

“It is all really for connecting business to business, businesses to consumers and ensuring we are putting into place all we need to really transform the clothing and fashion industries in Africa,” she added.

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has promised to wield "the big stick" on perpetrators of rape, domestic violence and child abuse in the state.
He added that the state will support the police and the judiciary to ensure the crime is brought to the barest minimum.

He gave this warning on Tuesday in his address to Lagosians after the "Walk To Commit and Act" rally organised by Lagos State Government through the Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team (DSVRT) of the Ministry of Justice to further drive home his message against the menace.

Sanwo-Olu, who said the government is commemorating the day in line with United Nations declaration against gender-based violence added that the State is working hard with its police command and all relevant agencies to bring the crime to zero point.

The Governor emphatically warned that no offender would go unpunished, saying that rape, domestic violence and child abuse are crimes and must be treated as such.

President Muhammadu Buhari has regreted the recent unfortunate action of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) operatives from the Lagos State Police Command, which led to the avoidable death of Mr. Kolade Johnson, and commiserates deeply with the family of the deceased.

The Lagos State Governorship Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Jimi Agbaje, has said no one would force him to quit the party.

He attributed insinuations that he had dumped PDP to mischief-makers determined to soil his reputation, provoke crisis within the party and dampen the spirit of party members and his supporters.
